Problem: i forget the pattern and repeatedly typing wrong pattern leads to recover password by putting email and password.
Tried that but still getting wrong password/email error
May be it needs wifi connection and it isn't enabled..
As wifi is not on i cannot reset password of my phone by even entering correct email and password registered in tab..
Data is important.
There is very important data(apps) i don't want to lose by wiping.
What to do ??

Are you rooted?
If so try going into recovery and making a backup and then a factory reset

Try reflashing ROM without wiping - you won't lose anything or extract the settings and settings storage .apk files and push them via adb. Hope I helped

You can start the WiFi via ADB, hope you have USB debugging enabled.
The commands are:
adb shell
sqlite3 /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db
update secure set value=1 where name='wifi_on';
adb reboot
That should do the trick

hey when i type sqlite3 /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db
it says "sqlite3 /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db" not found
what to do ???
You can try the steps in the following link. It tells you how to delete the pattern lock info stored in sqlite database in your phone.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1800799
In short, do
Code:
adb shell rm /data/system/gesture.key
Then reboot the phone. It may still ask you for a pattern. Any random pattern should let you unlock it.
thanks a lot bro
it works
tried both methods and select notification bar.. and go there settings
and the password is already resetted
Great! It's a serious security venerability in Android (you don't even need root to deactivate the pattern lock), but I guess it helped out many people.
haha.. may be
but mine one is rooted so can't say anything

Not sure how it happened but my date changed to jan 5, 1982. Set it and all is well again.
Thanks a lot. I fixed my problem!
You must change the thread name as "[TUT]" or etc....
Good Job man
still no working
Mybdate and time was already accurate and it was set to automatic, still I tried to reset it but It didn't work. I have tried removing google account and then logging in again, didn't work. I also tried to clear the cache and data of the play store, didn't work either... uninstalling the updates also didn't work for me, what should I do now? Help please :| I have unlocked gs3 i9300 on wifi..
2 things can be done to solve this:
#Delete all ur accounts and google play data.. Reboot ur device.. Start google play and log in again to ur id.
#if the problem startd after flashing a rom then u need to change the kernel or contact the rom developer..
Change the kernel at ur own risk.. Im nt responsible if anything screws up..

*easy step by step solution*!!!
1. CHECK TO SEE IF YOUR TIMEZONE MATCHES YOUR OWN TIMEZONE(USE NETWORK PROVIDED TIME
2. CLEAR DATA AND CACHE, FORCE STOP! BLAH BLAH BLAH...
3. REBOOT
AT FIRST THIS SOLUTION DIDN'T WORK FOR ME SO, HERE IS WHAT WORKED FOR ME
*ROOT REQUIRED*
1. DOWNLOAD ROOT EXPLORER or ROOT BROWSER
2. NAVIGATE TO A FOLDER CALLED "etc' (LOWER CASE)
3. THEN, SELECT A FILE NAMED "host"
4. DELETE THAT FILE AND REBOOT!!
5. ENJOY GOOGLE PLAY!
I DO NOT HOLD ANY RESPONSIBILITY IF YOU BRICK YOUR PHONE, THIS IS JUST HOW I FIXED IT!!

I had my proxy changed to 'localhost', change it again to automatic and that did it for me
First Root your phone. Then download root browser or a similar root file manager.
Second, navigate to "/" folder.
Third, go to "etc" folder.
Fourth, delete the file called "localhost"
Now restart your device.(believe me you wont brick your device.)
Now! Problem fixed!
If you want you can lock boot loader and un-root.
Please thank me by clicking thanks button.

Done
Download ROOT BROWSER from 1mobile market .Install it>go to system\etc\>find hosts>change permission>open it >clear all text>write 127.0.0.1 localhost>save & exit
Done.That`s it
Hello. I just set PIN password on my Miui v4 to easy "0852" using Swype numerical keyboard. After locking in, i cant unlock it - the password is not working. I have no idea what to do. I don't want to factory reset my phone. Is there any chance to avoid lockscreen? I have no wifi / 3g enabled on phone, and I can't turn it on. The only way to change something is recovery.

Problem solved. Deleting (via ADB & CWM) /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db is solution for missed password.

nevermind, removed sim card and got past lock but alas that file is nowhere to be seen, using China Mobile so that may be part of the issue - looks like I'll have to replace my sim card
You don't need USB Debugging if you're on Recovery (TWRM or Clockworkmod).
Hi,
I used a pattern lock and a friend tried to often to unlock with the wrong one so I get a message now telling me I should login with gmail address and pw to unlock.
Problem now is I know the password but I don't know my gmail address (only needed it for play store on that phone).
So I flashed the kernel with cwm 6.x.x to that I9100g phone and I can get in that cwm and plugin the usb cable to my pc. I
can now use adb on my pc. So is there a way/a command in adb to find out which gmail address I used?

If you have a custom rom, boot into recovery and format system. Then reflash your rom and anything else your ROM needs flashed to work. You will have to set up a new Google account losing your contacts emails and paid apps... but if you ever remember your old google account, you can log in as both and get everything back. (Your free apps and data are saved.) If you used titanium backup, you can restore your old accounts. (Or any other backup app that saves your account)

The files now in my data folder(s) are the only chance to find the used gmail adress so wiping everything isn't an option
I searched around via adb (while I was in cwm6 and mounted /data) and found the file /data/system/accounts.db and in there I found my gmail adress :good:

Sorry that I respond to an old post, but I have a problem. My grandma forgot her google account password and I've tried for hours to guess it and I remembered about the adb stuff. I am very noob at adb stuff and I need help. Can I somehow find her google account password using some adb commands? She has a phone with android 5.1 if that info is of any help. I activated the usb debugging but the phone is not rooted. I really need to find her password so I can get her the covid certificate(green pass or whatever it's called). Also she didn't put her phone number or a recovery email so that's a no go, I've tried that. Can someone help me, please?
Sorry for necroposting but im in an excat same situation but im a noob at this. Can someone tell me how he did it?
I do have a Thunderbolt (PG05100) that is not in use for a year, I forgot the unlock pattern and don't remember the Google account use to register the phone. Is there a way to disable the unlock pattern by using adb or another existing tool? I know that I can hard reset the phone but I don't want to loose the information like contacts, msg's, etc.
Your contacts are backed up with your Google account but the messages will be erased. Unfortunately the only solution is to do a factory reset.

Or, you could crack the lock pattern, I wrote a simple one-click tool to do it, but lost it when my computer crashed :/. Learn how to crack it HERE @jeaponte
Interesting hack but it won't work if usb debugging isn't enabled on his device.

Without usb debugging or knowing the Google account info.... use legally only please
**EDIT**
Hmm seems that Google removed it from the app store..... some good detective work could probably come up with the original APK I bet!

What recovery do you have? You can usb debug thru most recoveries. If you can do so, and you know how to use adb, execute this command
Code:
adb shell rm /data/system/gesture.key
and you'll be golden. If you use TWRP recovery, go to advanced > terminal command > press select in the bottom right-hand corner > then type in this code
Code:
rm /data/system/gesture.key
, it's the same thing minus the adb shell. Let me know if either way works, if not, don't worry, I have a few more tricks up my sleeve, don't reset that phone!
If your getting a promt to re-enter your pin even before setting up one? Try this method, it may fix the problem. I was having the same issue after flashing an new ROM or restoring a TWRP backup.
How to fix
Using a root explorer go to root\data\system folder( if it asks for password during setup then do the same using TWRP file manager)
Then find "locksettings.db" and rename it to "locksettings.db.old" .
This should stop confilcs of you old ROM password which confuses it in thinking that there is a pin setup.
Android will automatically creat a new file "locksettings.db" after reboot and you should be good to go
This worked for me, if it helps you please thank the post!

You're a life saver! This has been plaguing me for weeks (and many wipes and restores)
I do have this 2nd weird problem though, after I set a new pin/pattern. If you leave the device locked too long, when you enter the pin/pattern it resets the screen and brings you back to lock screen. Not sure how to fix this one yet!
