Hi can someone recommend a rom to use on a t mobile (London) sim. Im currently on paranoidandroid and my battery on 3g is terrible like 2 hours constant usage. Even with gps off and brightness down to zero.
I don't need any bells and whistles with the rom just battery life. Heard Neatrom is good...
Thank you.

Neat ROM lite v4 is good. Just freeze all bloat that haven't been frozen. And turn on power saving mode.

AOKP Jellybean milestone 1 is very stable and comparatively lower battery consumption. Also dorimanx 7.23 version kernel with extreme battery profile in extweaks gives you best battery life

Stanley, jottermine & kilometers thank you all for your replies i am extremely thankful and will try them each in turn. Hopefully i will find success.
As for you inception i am aware everyone uses their phones differently but i asked for others opinions so its surely not a concern of yours whether someone tells me their liking of a rom.
Anyways nonetheless i will heed your words and refrain from originating anymore like minded topics.
Thanks again guys. Xda FTW

Agree with above plus if you add setcpu you can get amazing battery life.

check rom with siyah kernel 2.3 ,very fast medium battery life...if you want better battery life get sensation rom by crysis with siyah 2.1
I am always on internet due to which the battery life of my Samsung GalaxyS2 is very poor. If i install a custom rom which has a better battery life will be very good.

I peronally like cm9 stock kernel best, better check what services/apps are running in the background that consume much power!
I'm using the original karnel that I got with my sgs2..
Is there a stock Room for the cm9?
Can you give me a link please?

Mate battery life won't magically improve by flashing an alternate kernel / ROM. There are tons of reasons which may affect battery life on a ROM, and you must first determine what that is before you move on and experiment. Before moving onto a new kernel, determine what is causing battery drain using apps like CPU Spy (Can determine if your phone is entering deep sleep or not) and BetterBatteryStats (Can determine kernel wakelocks which prevent the phone from going into deep sleep). Also, what is your usage pattern? On extremely heavy usage patterns, 6-8 hours is below par, but not unbelievable.
Unfortunately I would agree with mattisfaction at this point of time. Stock ROM for CM9? When you install CM9, you get the CM9 Stock kernel. Not what came with your phone.
Well...
I see I got much more to learn :-/
Well thnx anyway, ill come back after some more research =)

every latest ROM will give you almost the same battery backup, the difference could only be upto 3-5% so, in my opinion, you can use any ROM but you should be smart enough to use your phone properly, If you are gaming all the time, then your battery won't last more than a few hrs..
I would recommend hephappy's prereleases, with data and sync only through 2G and light use - reduced backlight, couple of SMS, few calls, short web browsing (check twitter, find some public transport connection,...) - i got nearly three days of battery life.
But when you are on 3G, heavily browsing or playing games all the time you can't expect any rom to last more than day (to be more specific from morning to evening).

True I have same battery drain (~2% per night) on all ROMs... people with lots of apps or data on at all times should NEVER give an opinion on battery life... you may get a signal from an app, randomly, and cause system to be totally random on battery...

You have to try them for yourself.

Hi,
It's not a silly question - there are far too many custom roms with custom kernels. The combinations of these add up to an awful lot of flashing, not to mention then running it for a few days to get an idea on battery and performance. It would probably take weeks!
Anyways, for me, i rooted my stock UK rom using Chainfire 6.3, and then froze any bloatware apps i didn't use or want using Titanium Pro. This is now giving me better battery life than previously and running nice and smooth.
To give you an idea, i had around 25 hours moderate use with around 4.5 hours screen time.
Hope that helps a little. I'll probably try a custom rom sometime once things settle a little more, though i'm really really hoping for Jelly Bean now.....

What Processes did you freeze? I am considering this too but I don't see too many processes which drain the battery (unlike the S2 when I first got it). Thanks.
Hey there guyz, just wondering, does JB consume the most battery life between ICS and GB?Is it because of its performance?Do u recommend people in XDA to choose GB roms for great battery life and JB roms for extreme performance?Pls guyz, give your opinions Thank you

I think you must try to make your personal opinion my opinion is that i dont care how much it consumes because screen is no 1 in consumption

The rule on the Galaxy S2 forum is that you are not allowed to ask which ROM's are better, which is basically what your thread is asking. This is not allowed as everyone's opinion of a ROM is different, and what performs well for one person may not perform well for you. You must try these ROM's yourself, with different kernels for better performance and battery life to find the optimum setup for you. Sorry but that's the way it is.

Actually if you ask for consumption. I think ics is way more superior in saving battery than JB. There are so many reasons for that. Check the change log on wikipedia you ll come to know. Screen causes more drain on JB. Im also agree with the person who first answered your question.

I've personally noticed I can't get as good battery life with JB as with ICS. I use the same settings, and the same apps, but ICS seems better for me.
On the other hand: some people got great battery life with JB, so I also would recommend to try both versions to compare. Performance-wise (and the wonderfull features), JB is the best

Here's a question:Back in ICS XWLS8,its firmware was 717MB and its battery was superb. But now in most rom in ICS and JB,its 300MB+ and battery is .With a huge amount of 400MB difference, how does the battery resist for long hours?

I'm on JellyBam 7.8.0,Android 4.2.2 JB,and I can get up to 2 days of battery.(My WI-FI is nearly always on,and I use it for games, like Plants vs Zombies. So I could say battery is pretty good, through I think back in October,(when I got my phone,It was on ICS 4.0.3),the battery was a bit better. But still...not bad
Mine sucks with wifi on, I gotta get into that asap.

Yeah,so GB is considered to consume the least battery while JB consume a bit more battery than ICS.I guess sticking to ICS is rather fine for me
