[Q] Missing System Directory - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

My system directory seems to be missing. I've installed teamwin Recovery but am unable to mount the system drive. When I install the latest Cyanogen Mod nightly it appears to install but won't boot. All I've got is Recovery and Fastboot. Help!

So, I had it booting momentarily. Once I had it going I figured I would attempt to load Clockwork Mod Recovery and give it another go. Now I can't even get to the bootloader. Please tell me this isn't bricked!

We don't have enough information. What rom was you on? When you say you had it booting momentarily to where? What Cwm did you flash and how? What happens when you hold down volume down and power together from being off?

Here is the whole sequence of events...
1) I was on complete stock updated to the latest Asus OTA
2) I used the Asus unlock tool to unlock the bootloader
3) I wanted to gain root access so I tried the freshroot method here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1929189. This didn't work and it made my system directory not be found via fastboot.
4) I attempted to load CW Recovery 5.8.3.4 for the TF201 but it wouldn't open so I went with TWRP 2.3.1.0 (both were loaded via fastboot)
5) Once TWRP was working I flashed stock Asus version 10.4.2.17(US) and was able to boot into the welcome screen
6) I still wanted root and I noticed that my recovery image was no longer loading so I attempted to once again push CW Recovery via fastboot.
7) At this point the tablet turns on to the Asus splash screen and in the top left says "The Device is Unlocked". Holding Power + Volume Down lands me in the same spot.
Thank you again for the help!

I really have a bad feeling about this mate. The version you mentioned earlier came out at the end of may. Jellybean didn't come out until July. I don't think they released a version since then that supports the Jellybean bootloader and if you flash an ICS recovery onto a Jellybean bootloader you will hard brick your device.
If you cannot access the icons by holding down power and volume down for about 5 seconds while you are powered off then I am afraid it is hard bricked and will have to be returned to asus and have motherboard replaced.
I know it's no conciliation but there are posts everywhere saying not to use CWM on prime

Unfortunately there is at least one post out there saying it will work. On that note, know of anyone who needs some spare parts?

It can be repaired by asus. Ask them how much to fix. If it's too much these will sell on eBay as people want them for the screen etc.

Optimus V Brick!?! HELP!

So I went to flash to my cell using romrepo.info/wiki/index.php?title=Install_from_Stock_Optimus. I got to step 15, and I realized I forgot to place the ROM in my sd card so I restarted the cellphone so I could place the ROM in my sd card, go to reboot to repeat the process and I get a screen that goes:
Fastboot mode started
gpio_i2c: invalid khz: 0
bl: i2c write error
udc_start()
--suspend--
--reset--
--portchange--
--reset--
--portchange--
fastboot: processing commands
Its a blue screen. I just want to flash this Any guides to get me out of this?

In the above guide replace optimus one recovery with optimus v.

Can someone post a link to a recovery file for my phone? You guys are the best.
I followed the above guide, and used the ROM here prepaidandroid.org/index.php?title=How_to_restore_your_Optimus_V_to_almost_original_condition
It reboots, and the same blue screen is up
My brother flashed the wrong recovery, I tried using the tutorial to fix it using fastboot.exe from windows, but it won't work as it can't find the device. windows sees an android device and I installed the drivers from lg, but it refuses to enumerate in adb shell, so I can't connect to it, any ideas?
okay after fiddleing with it a bit, I got the origional recovery mode restored on it, and when I boot into recovery and plug in usb adb can see the device, I have a stock froyo rom how do I restore from here, or can I reflash clockwork from here?

this only works if you have some sort of custome recovery, My brother had the wrong one for the optimus v (clockworkmod 3.2.0.0) and it wouldn't install any rom.
I just played around with this page until I got the stock bootloader/recovery back, however I'm not sure if this is what we want, you may want to try flashing one of the custom recoveries listed on the site, now that I have the stock I can re-flash anything.

you need to get into a custom recovery, optimus v press back, volume up and power at the same time to boot into a recovery, if you don't have a recovery at all there maybe an issue. so try and boot into a recovery and let me know what you have.

if you can't get into any recovery your device maybe permintally bricked, but don't take what I say as gospel I'm new at this as well, I'm still looking up more info, in the mean time you need to figure out how to get into recovery, google for key combos, also when using a key combo to get into recovery make sure power is the last button you press in the combo, hold down the others then power (while still holding the other buttons) and release as soon as you see the lg logo, it should go away quickly and after a few seconds of black you'll see the recovery, if the lg logo stays up for a while it's trying to normal boot.

I think if I can get adp to recognize this device I can fix it. Fastboot recognizes this, but adp doesn't. Is there a special adp driver maybe lol?
Got a little bit of progress....did a full system flash using fastbootroot and NVM OMG its fully booted! wow never thought I'd see the homescreen again...now to try to flash it again hahahaha
Now what verison of recovery and rom should I be looking at?

if you want to get aospCMod on your phone, follow this tutorial, this is what I did for my phone works great.
Now my question to you is how did you use fast boot root tool to get back to home screen because I'm still stuck at recovery
okay I finally managed to fix it, I figured out how to use fast boot root and got a custom recovery, from there I could flash other recoveries, which was importaint because even though I could install any rom I wanted it was stuck in a boot loop where it would keep booting into recovery, So i flashed Xionia_CWMA_12518.4_VM_Recovery.zip from here and under advanced it has an option to fix the boot loop, then from there I could flash a rom and it's fixed.
Lot of work fixin' my first bricked phone, but I learned alot.

[Q] What are the various ways of recovery other than using CWM?

Hey guys, I'm only a week old with my first Android device, the Prime.
I rooted it using ViperMOD PT v4.5. Installed BusyBox, Superuser, Titanium backup.
I also installed ROM manager BUT did not install CWM.
Now after installing a font file and rebooting, my Prime is stuck on ASUS screen with a dotted circle rotating forever everytime I reboot.
In the absence of CWM what are the other ways of recovering? Does these devices do not have an ASUS recovery mode?
Kindly help knowing all this as well as Unbricking my Prime.
Regards to all helpers and non-helpers.
Fastboot and APX (nvflash). The latter is not yet available.
I'm not aware of any others

Thanks buddy ! I managed to Unbrick my TFP. I was wondering if there is another way of recovering as I did not had CWM installed. I gathered information in pieces from this forum and managed to put the TFP back in good health.
I followed this;
Put the renamed downloaded OTA (EP201_SDUPDATE.zip) in SD card and boot to RCK and....everything went on automatically.
Thanks once again to all the lovely people here!
Didnt thought of that one though, assumed you were unlocked.
Thanks for sharing back, mate.
Edit: glad you made it and learned something in the process, i truly am.

I'm not sure about the "build prop"....But I think you can safely try this as you have not yet tampered with bootloader or kernel layer.
Download the build (xx_epaduser9_4_2_14UpdateLauncher.zip from an authentic source on web (google it). where xx stands for your SKU. You must be knowing that.
Once downloaded extract all and you will get another zip file (do not bother about its name; you have to rename it anyway)
Rename the extracted zip to EP201_SDUPDATE.zip
Put it on the SD card, shut down the TFP and insert the card in the slot.
Press and hold the power up while holding the Volume down button to go into recovery mode.
Once into RCK, release both buttons and press Volume up to confirm within 5 secs.
Once done, the TFP will be able to locate the zip file on the SD card and re-write the entire OS for you.
This method is safe and asus stock way of recovery.
(I assume since you have a locked bootloader you also do not have CWM installed)
Let me know what happens.
I think you cant tweak build.prop and try to ota.
If adb is available:
Get blob pack/unpack tools, grab the blob from inside that ota you flashed, unpack it, push /system/build.prop to transformer with adb shell (adb remount first or issue mount command manually to get /system with rw permissions).

[Q] Possible Brick on my Prime?

Not so recently, I messed up my Transformer Prime. I was trying to flash a new ROM so I decided to clean all the partitions, memory card, etc. Long story short, I'm nearly sure I deleted the ROM and the recovery... When I turn it on, It won't boot past the Eee Pad splash screen, and if I turn it on holding the volume down button and power button, the white text on the splash screen doesn't go past "Booting recovery kernel image". Is there any way I can fix this? I loved my Prime and I really want to fix it from it's current paper-weight position.

Download the universal naked drivers in the dev thread and see if you can fastboot to it... then you will have to flash the recovery (through fastboot) then adb and push the rom to it....then install rom through recovery... suggest you use twrp just make sure you use an older version if you haven't used nvflash.... think you need 2.1.... I have a copy somewhere here or you can probably find it in the q&a section as I have posted it there at least once.....

[Q] Help with brick

I recently tried to flash energy rom via CWM. Everything seemed to work fine. Booted up to asus screen and stopped. Now will not boot past that. Here is what has been done so far:
rooted and unlocked
no nvflash
no recovery backup created
I used WSG unbricker and lost recovery mode and made no headway
I can boot to fastboot
Tried flashing multiple recovery images and roms and latest firmware blob from asus
I have wiped data
Maybe I am doing something wrong in fastboot or the order. Maybe I have to wipe or partition first. Maybe I tried flashing JB bootloader on ICS. I do not not know my current bootloader either. Please tell me there is a solution. I feel that since I have fastboot there is hope. Also I have never posted before, but I feel that I have read most threads will no avail so I need direction. Help would be greatly appreciated.

When you get to the screen where fastboot icon is, up the top left there is a line with bootloader written in it. At the end of that line is a number starting with 9 or 10. 9 is ICS bootloader and 10 is JB bootloader.
Give me that number and we can go from there.

You're saying when you hold down the power button and volume down together for about 5-10 seconds and you get to the screen with icons on it (wipe, fastboot etc) you have no writing in the top left at all ?
All it says is "os will cold boot in 10 secs if selected mode is not confirmed" wipe data or fastboot. It used to say some stuff until I used wsg unlocker. That is where I had the option of recovery.
And just to be clear. The OS does not cold boot after 10 secs. All it does is just confirm wichever option is highlighted.

Bricked Prime paying for fix

I recently bricked my asus transformer prime by formatting data, system, and cache without checking if I had a rom on my sd card. Without the option in CWM to install from a rom real sd card I tried to install TWRP and now I have no recovery and the screen hangs at Eee Pad splash screen. I still have the ability to use fastboot. If anyone can unbrick my transformer for me I will pay you.

Only joking, on the screen where the fastboot icon is you have a line in the top left with bootloader written in it and a long number at the end. It either starts with a 9 or a 10. What is it?
Sorry for the delay had to take one last final, I'm not sure the device has been on all since it will not turn off so I am currently charging it. I will let you know in 30 mins or so.

Ok, you are on the ICS bootloader at the moment. The first thing we are going to do is flash a version of TWRP recovery on there which will allow you to install a rom off the external SD.
Power off the prime and put yourself into fastboot mode by holding power button and volume down the same time until a few icons appear on the screen. At this point press volume down to go over to the usb icon and then press volume up. It will look like the prime has frozen. Plug the prime into pc and make sure you have the drivers installed. If you do not please install them from here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1426502
Next follow this post to flash ICS twrp http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34477681&postcount=5705
Only use the file in that link to install it while on ICS bootloader. Later on you are going to flash hairybean 1.51 which will take you up to Jellybean Bootloader. If you use this file after that you will brick your tablet.
You should now be able to boot into recovery again.
Go to the second post here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1674827 and follow the "Upgrade Instructions for ICS"
Let me know how it goes.

I blame rom manager for half of these bricks. It is letting people flash an ICS version of Cwm regardless of what bootloader they are on. Someone should speak to them.
Your tegra logo is in the bottom right meaning you are on the jellybean bootloader. You have flashed a ICS recovery on there and unless you have NVFlash backups or can get into fastboot then you are hard bricked.
