Sorry for not being as up-to-date as i probably should be.
What is the highest version of Andriod i can run on the Atrix 4G?
Can i run Andriod 4.X ?
Thanks
You can use 4.0 and 4.1 with some bugs..
But GB, CM7 with no issues.
I think there will be usable 4.2 version soon (without hardware acceleration and video recording). At the moment latest available for Atrix 4G is 4.1.2.
If you need everything working (including camcorder, HW acceleration and fingerprint sensor) then one of the GB ROMs is your best bet. Otherwise, CM9 and CM10 ROMs are available but without the above mentioned functions.
ok, so next question

Thanks for the info. I went to motorola's site and latest i saw was 2.x something. Where do i get 4.x if i do want to upgrade?
First of all you need to be upgraded to GB. Then unlock BL, install a recovery and simple download a Rom from develop section to your sdcard and install it as a normal Rom!

Officially, Motorola only released up to 2.3.6 for the Atrix. So if you want to get 4.x, the Android Dev forum is where you want to look.

Hey,
Just wondering if anyone's got any clue on how to enable Live Wallpaper support in 2.1 ROMs that don't have it be default? ROMs like CronosDroid or latest VillainROM 10?
I don't use SenseUI so it's not a biggie that these two are not compatibile with each other. I also did have it working on VR6.2.1 but since there's plenty ROMs based on official Hero release coming out now I think it's time to move to something more recent - at least until release of anything based on Froyo.
So, all in all is there an apk application to enable it or some simple sh scripts or adb commands? Anyone? ^__^
I think many (or all) of the official 2.1 rooted roms for the hero dont include live wallpapers because the hero 2.1 rom does not have them where as if you flashed a desire rom you would have them but i dont know anyway of enabling them maybe check if livewallpapers.apk is installed then try and enable them using another software that supporrts them eg. launcher pro

Well, I've seen it working in official based latest Androbin and will test flash latest official based ezHero today as well - apparently it has LW support too.
I am not claiming that these are better ROMs than those that don't support it out-of-the-box. No, I am test running all the ROMs I can get my hands on to finally decide on one and stick to it until unofficial 2.2 gets ported to Hero. ^__^

Currently running EzHero 1.2.1 so no need for that no more but I _DO_ test many different ROMs and it will come in handy there and then. Thank you! ^__^
Hi Guys,
Terrible newbie question here; I have searched briefly but haven't found an answer.
Is Android 2.3.6 available for the Galaxy S2? I'm still on 2.3.3 and am bored of waiting for OTA updates.
I've seen that there is a 2.3.5 ROM available here on these forums but don't see the point in upgrading to that now then 2.3.6 is out...
Can anyone help me with my question for up-to-dateness?
Thanks.
2.3.4 just released today in some Nordic countries, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1269607. Then 2.3.5, 2.3.6...
So why did you search about 2.3.6? Update to 2.3.4 first!

I was just going by Wikipedia which says the current Android version is 2.3.6....
Is there any indication from Samsung when they'll be pushing out 2.3.4 to the UK devices?
I would love to get a basic installation really without all of the Samsung crap on it. :\

Actually the current Android version is 2.3.7 for NFC capable devices, stop thinking about official 2.3.6, they barely launched official 2.3.4 for northern europe.
I'm in Spain southern Europe and still no 2.3.4. But I have had a few 2.3.3 updates which is fine by me. I love this phone.

Nope, european version doesn't have NFC, only korean and an american version if i'm not mistaking.
Just for future references, Google releases new Android OS versions, it first shows up in Nexus Phones. Then, manufacturers need to get the lastest OS to build their new ROM around it with their own skin/theme. This typically takes couple months and then a new ROM leaked or released. So, typically you will see a new Samsung ROM about 6 months later. You can't download or install Android OS directly. You have to wait for OEM to built it.

So for me latest official SGS2 ROM is really stable and I'm happy about TouchWiz
But ... when Samsung stops supporting SGS2 I will get a "phone after live" using Cyanogenmod for sure

The CM nightlies are more stable than the 'stable version'.
Ok...I am really REALLY new to all of this. IF you put a custom Honeycomb ROM (CM7 is Honeycomb right?) onto a tablet, will it then run apps that are designed for Honeycomb tablets?

Cm7 is 2.3.7 gingerbread and apps working anyway.
Most.

The ROM is the same android OS but customized regardless of the android version (honeycomb, gingerbread, etc).
Different ROMs could have the same Android version. Major ROMs like CM are updated by their Developers when a new android OS is available.
Apps work mostly on any ROM, unless a certain app doesn't work on a certain Android OS version.
I hope I could answer your question.

Sort of....I guess I should break it down a little. There is a Words With Friends App that is made specifically for Honeycomb and because of that I can't even put it on my tablet which runs Froyo (parsing error). If I install a custom ROM or ported ROM like CM9, will it allow me to be able to install it?
CM9 is Ice Cream Sandwich I believe... It might run your app.
Go to the app page on the market and see if anyone is complaining about it not working with ICS... If not, you're good to go.
CM8 was supposed to be Honeycomb, but didn't happen because Google didn't release the source code for Honeycomb. If you find a Honeycomb ROM specific for your tablet, then that answers your question. Otherwise you might have to wait till an ICS ROM is developed for your tablet.
any ideas???both use a gyroscope right?
From all I have read, all ROMs running jellybean are still having difficulty with the stock 4.1.1 camera. Until the time comes that the base CyanogenMod or AOKP builds are fixed up there is really no way to get the camera up and running from 4.1.1 much less 4.2. I may be mistaken, but it is all over all the jellybean threads I have read, as well as the ROMs I have installed.
Now this may change with the completion of the kexec ROM source. Kexec is just a fancy name for bypassing the boot loader and installing a custom kernel. Just FYI, if you didn't know what that was already.
Hope this help.
P.S. I think I remember seeing that Max from High on Android had reviewed a ROM called eclipse that may have had the photosphere camera working. Seems like it was an ICS ROM though...

I recommend installing Dastin's HOOD POPE CM10.2 rom (it's up near the top of the development forum). Being Cyanogenmod, it works very similarly to stock Android. I've been running as a daily driver for the past couple weeks, and I've had no trouble with it.
If you want Android 4.4 aka Kitkat, go for Loquid Smooth 3.0
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2638534
I am using it since 2 weeks and it runs surprisingly well. Its based on CM, but has a few more configuration options.
Keep in mind that you loose 3D camera once you go for a custom ROM > Android 4.0.3 because there are no drivers (yet)

if you don't need 3D camera, you should upgrade to android 4.4. I'm currently using GSM version [ROM][HW-VSYNC] CyanogenMod 11.0 - KitKat 4.4.2 - 11-March - UNOFFICIAL, and i'm super happy with it. The only bad thing is bad battery life (still haven't manage to use it more than 1day), but everything else is just superb
Who ever 'needed' a 3D camera?
