Hello nice misters, i really need some help if someone is willing to:
Try flashing the attached "param.tar" as PDA in ODIN (no repartition!), that may clear up the issue. Samsung Galaxy S II GT-I9100 ONLY[b/]

A friend of mine was *****ing with the little red exclamation on the upper-left part of his screen at boot and in his despair of re move it, just ignored/misread this quote of "Galaxy SII Only" and who-knows-what-passes-in-his-head, flashed param.tar this in a Galaxy SIII GT-i9300 (from this topic:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494114)
The phone was having the following symptoms:
1) Rebooting when shutting down screen.
2) The phone was entering recovery.
What has been done:
1) Entered recovery, formated /system and /cache and tried to install a custom rom (lastest Omega for Galaxy SIII) - did not work
2)Downloaded lastest leak that was flashable by ODIN and flashed by it. After that, entereed recovery and did a factory reset. Result: Phone is booting, but USB Media mount not working, bluetooth not working, and it seems that the phone is not entering in deep sleep.
There is anything that we can do? Thanks in advance.
Hi I just making a terrible mistake in flashing my Samsung Galaxy S3 to XXELLA ROM - BTU. By virtue of being the accountant changed in a hurry to resolve the issue, just passing the file via ODIN PARAM.TAR, available on the first page of this topic, then I notice that it was only for the Samsung Galaxy S2. What happens now is that my phone is restarting of 5 in 5 minutes and it is no longer recognized in USB. Someone would have to provide the correct PARAM.TAR for Samsung Galaxy S3 (I9300)?
I think you have seriously messed things up, the param.tar for the S2 contains a param.lfs file, I am not sure if there is a way to remove it or if it even exists on the S3.
If it exists then perhaps someone could make a dump of it from their device (I'm not sure how to) and you would just flash it via Odin.
If they can't then all you can do is take it to service, and learn the lesson, read everything on a page before flashing anything, and take paticular note of anything in bold letters.
The param.lfs is flashed as raw image onto partition 4 of the NAND. i.e. /dev/block/mmcblk0p4.
You can try to reflash someone elses param.lfs, it cam be dumped on a command shell via
Code:
su
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p4 of=/sdcard/param.lfs
and you can then either put it in a .tar again and flash via Odin, or flash manually via
Code:
su
dd if=/sdcard/param.lfs of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p4
after copying it to the internal storage.

I managed to restore the phone. Is reset. I will prepare a detailed tutorial.

Still having the same problem after that. Someone please advise. Need help urgently. I am in sales trade. I can't afford to have my phone keep rebooting when I talking to my clients on phone.

be carefull with ICS file (never do reset with ICS if you have stock kernel)

Why are so many peeps flashing the TA param file when Chainey makes it clear its for the s2????, this file doesnt need to be used.
If you look and search on the forum under pre-rooted stock firmware you will find an emergency flash for the s3.
Please, read the post carefully.

Hey,
I have somehow managed to brick my phone, here's how it happened..
I was using it, it was quite alright.. But then suddenly, the power button menu started appearing for no reason.. Then i couldnt use the power button at all.. But it got automatically resolved in the evening.
I found my camera to be very unsatisfying, so i updated the camera fw, and it was successful. No issues in the phone as such.
The next day, i found the phone stuck in a hard bootloop, unsolvable by taking the battery out and all.. The recovery mode resets into boot after like 3 seconds.
I put the phone in download and flashed a single file official rom from intratech's thread , that didnt solve anything.
So i thought that i had no option but to flash a .pit file and repartition the phone.
Now, i have an indian gt-i9100, and i looked everywhere for a .pit file , but i cant find a comprehensive guide which includes the .pit file.
I found this- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1457458&page=1
It has all the files, modem, code, and csc. Even the bootloader. But after downloading the package, i couldnt find a .pit file.
So i carried on with the multi file flash, voila, no recovery for me now. The phone still goes into download mode though.
I can carry on with the bootloader flash, but i wanted to try and clear and partitioning problems there might be, if any.
Please help.
Details of recent multi flash- XXLPH with the modem and csc files.
EDIT--
Just got the .pit file from the post mentioned above.. did the repartioning.. still the same problem ..

No. You read my post wrong.
I said, you need to flash a special stock firmware that will wipe everything, including data on your phone. Stock firmwares naturally don't wipe data etc after flashing.
I'll post you the link as soon as possible

I tried flashing XXLPQ from intratech's thread.. Single file flash.. Still not working. It brought back recovery though, But it resets into boot again. Like after 3 seconds.
I m out of my wits here.. What the hell should i do to get this phone to work?
Is it hardbricked? Is it time for me to pay for the repairs at the nearest service center?

ok here try this
pit : http://www.mediafire.com/?pu1nh622wudgzey
Firmware: http://hotfile.com/dl/146748985/809318f/I9100XXLPH.zip.html
Kernel : http://www.mediafire.com/?65a5a59666hdopx
PASSWORD FOR EXCTRATING KERNEL : [email protected]
First flash pit .. once done remove usb , remove battery again get the phone in download mode
flash only kernel in pda once done remove usb , remove battery again get the phone in download mode
after that then flash pit and the firmware together
in firmware u will find 3 files
CODE -> PDA
MODEM -> PHONE
CSC -> CSC
I think you should choose flashing the stock firmwares, where you should wipe everything: caches, dalvik cache, factory reset; however, backup your files.
Flash the firmwares that'd give you that "fresh new feeling"
If flashing it once won't work, i think you could try flashing it again.
But i think you screwed up somewhere in the steps.. mmmm you could try using simple fw's.. ones where all the files are in one PDA file

Just as the Subject says. Only for knowledge purposes (though my phone is bricked :/ )
I get absolutely NO ERRORS while flashing ANY firmware for that matter through Odin. Though my phone is U.K Unbranded I9300XXBLG8.
It should boot-up but doesn't :/
Can't get into Recovery either. Not even a glimpse of it.
Stuck at the i9300 logo :/
Anyone care to help me and answer the following questions?
1. When is flashing a PIT File suitable? At what error u should do it?
2. Do I have a Bootloader/Recovery Problem or something?
3. Will J-Tagging help it?
4. Can someone tell me what is causing this problem? I haven't seen anyone with this problem yet. The firmware as well as CF Root flashes successfully (in Odin)... though the phone shows no positive results.
5. Should I go for PIT or J-Tagging or something else? I don't wanna risk it. All I know is that u should only flash a PIT file when u get the "Get PIT for Mapping" error. And J-Tagging is when the phone doesn't boots up. (I may be wrong)
Anyone with some suitable knowledge please drop by and help me.
Or someone who had this problem before.
My phone is a GT-i9300
CSC Version: I9300OXABLG8
Last Firmware was XXBLG8.
Pebble Blue non-branded and 16gb version.
THANK U
don't panic!
You should be able to fix it by just flashing a stock firmware with Odin
---------- Post added at 04:27 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:25 PM ----------
you could also try removing the battery for a few minutes and then reinsert and try voting recovery again
Only go for a pit file, if you're planning to flash-lock the device, or repartition it, for that matter.
Don't panic, if your device is bricked, it's not, actually
You f***ed up your boot partition..
Goto sammobile.com/firmware, register, download latest U.K. firmware and then you should be good to go. Then you can root it and everything. DW about your SD, it'll stay as it is..
Hope I could help!

Flashing a pit is risky, and interruption could lead to hard brick, however if you do it right then all will be good, I used to flash with pit on the s1 regularly as it was a necessity coming from cm to gb, or something along those lines.
Just make sure you know what you are doing
PROGRESS!!!!!!!!!!
OK i think my phone is alive. I managed to get it into the CWM Recovery. But there seems to be one little problem. That I can't mount my SDCard. Even tried mounting in the "Mounts and Storage" Option. Im kinda hopeful but I don't know what to do now
Tried Factory/Data Resetting but that didn't do any good. Have i Effed my SDCard or something??? :/ :/

any specific error messages about that in cwm?
Personally i used .pit with no issues. My story was that i changed the original partition layout and flashed stock .tar after that. CWM was functional but couldn't mount anything. So i just grabbed a .pit and flashed stock together with .pit - all fine.
And regarding the "interruptions" during .pit flashing - it was the same speed as flashing without .pit, at least for me.
If in your case it's simple filesystem corruption, connecting over adb and launching fsck on the messed up partitions should provide some results.
Hi Guys,
I'm new to this Forum and very new to Android. I have the Galaxy S2 and while attempting to install Clock Work Mod, following the instructions from GalaxyS2Root, all of a sudden the phone locked up at the Samsung Galaxy S2 sceen with the yellow exclamation mark and that's as far as I got.
With great difficulty, I can get into the recovery screen, but I haven't got a clue, what I can do from here.
Is the phone recoverable, or have I just destroyed a brand new phone? I don't have a rom zip on my sd card, so I couldn't install a new rom from the card.
I have tried everything to get it going again, but I think the more things I try, the worse it gets. I think I have now wiped the existing rom off completely and wiped the caches, all because I was panicing.
I even thought of removing my sd card, putting it into my wifes Galaxy Ace and downloading a replacement rom to it and then try to install the new rom back to my phone.
But guys, I'm really panicing here and don't know what to do!!
Can anybody please help me out, or do I now throw a brand new phone into the garbage?
Thank You.............dixie (Help Please)

Just flash a new firmware via odin.It will be new again
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Hello,
You could try downloading the rom required and install using odin.
You will need to make sure you get the right version for your phone and use odin to flash.
I've not done exactly what you have before I got into a simple boot loop and had to re flash. Live and learn I guess!

Thanks for your reply,
But how do I connect my phone to Odin and what menu should the phone be in, in the recovery mode?
Doesn't the phone have to be in the download mode?
I can only seem to get into the basic recovery mode, ie volume up + power + home keys.
Regards..............dixie.
Have you tried to get into download mode (volume down + home + power)?
You should be able to do that if you can get into recovery. Once in download mode, connect to your PC, start Odin and choose PDA, then select the tar that you have downloaded (it will be in zip form until you unpack it).
Read some threads about Odin/Download mode before you start and make sure you are happy to proceed.

O'k I did as you told me, but the first strange thing is, when I extract the zip file I get the following: boot.bin, cache, factory fs, hidden, modem.bin, param.lfs, Sbl.bin and zImage.............there is no exe type file!!!
However if I open odin, click on PDA and enter the whole zip file location and press start, everything goes ahead as planned.
I get a "Pass" and the phone restarts, I get the small tune and the blue moving lights on the screen, but then it just jams up, on the S Samsung Galaxy S2 screen. That's as far as the boot sequence goes.......frozen on the Galaxy S2 Screen!!
Any suggestions?
Regards......................dixie.
Pull out the battery, wait a few seconds replace and try to boot again. If that doesn't work, check you have the correct firmware to flash and try again with Odin.
Or have a look at this thread:

Right, for starters you need to give relevant information if you expect accurate help otherwise you're going to end up screwing your device up.
Which model of S2 do you have?
Which rom do you have? (give link)
Which guide did you follow? (give link)
If you can get into cwm its just a case of "wipe data/factory reset" and then flash custom rom of your choice from sdcard. Just go into cwm>mounts&storage>mount USB (this will mount cards onto PC if connected) so once connected copy your rom across.
I recommend the new wannam lite rom if you want new samsung JB based rom.
If you want to flash via ODIN then you should only be flashing a .tar or .md5 file in PDA section. If your extracting a zip and you get all the files you mentioned in your above reply then you have wrong file.

O'k thank you for your reply and thank you to the others that replied.
I was using an incorrect rom to flash and an incomplete rom at that!
I downloaded a different rom, extracted the files and flashed with odin. Now I am up and running and have the phone back to full woking order.
That was pretty scarery stuff and I thought I had bricked the phone for ever, I guess a little knowledge is helpful but dangerous, if one isn't sure of what they are doing.
Thank you once again for your help, it was much appreciated. I'll contact you again no doubt, next time I create a stuff up.

Hi Guys, one last request. I would like to root the phone and after a considerable amount of reading/research, the root file that I require, seems impossible to find. When I do find it and download, the .rar file is empty except for a zImage file!!!
My phone is the Galaxy S2 i9100 running ICS 4.0.3 Baseband Version i9100XXLPQ Kernel Version 3.0.15-i9100XXLPQ-CL223505 Build Number IML74K.XXLPQ.
I bought this phone, while I was visiting China and it has been great, up until I managed to brick it by accident.
Anyway, I apparently need the CF Root for XXLPQ v5.4, which I have downloaded six times, from various sites and every time I extract, it's empty, except for an image file!!!
I live in Australia and use the Telstra Network.....should I change to a more suitable Firmware, or maybe a stable custom rom, or can someone give me a link, for the appropriate working CF Root file?
Much Appreciate and Thank You........dixie.
Ignore the above post guys, a little more reading and I found my mistake.
However, I am still interested in the suggestion of a Custom Rom, which would work successfully, on Australian Networks.
Cheers to All......dixie.

I'm still new myself here but i'm sure ur phone is already rooted from what u said above. When u boot into recovery does stock recovery load or CWM ? if anything other than stock Samsung recovery then your already rooted.
Also u dont need to unzip the rar file its ready as is.
If ur phone is actually not rooted by far the easiest method is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1501719
u dont need an insecure kernel and theres no risk involved even if u mess up. I was a lil hesitant to root my phone but used that method and all went fine, now i've learned so much in the past 2 weeks i'm flashing other kernels and tried lots of roms.
Peace

Yes thanks for the reply. I discovered that I didn't have to extract the root file, as it was already a .tar (stupid me).
So now I have a rooted phone and the Official ICS version XXLPQ, which is working in Australia, but I have noticed, that most of the time the Network is showing "edge".
All I really have to find now, is a good, stable, custom rom, that will also work in Australia.
A couple of observations....
You don't need "a good stable custom rom that will also work in Australia". Region has nothing to do with how a rom performs/your experience with that rom. If you're having issues with connectivity/you're not happy with data speeds, flashing/trying other modems may help. I suggest you read through this thread, at various times people have discussed which modems have worked well with different carriers (particular modems seem to work well for most people using a particular carrier). You can then search for CWM flashable versions of these modems & test them out until you find one that gives you connectivity you're happy with.
The other observation is you're a bit lacking in the 'basics'. I highly recommend you take the time to read through the guides. Knowing the basics makes it less likely you'll bork your phone at some stage, and that you'll be able to solve any problems that come up in a methodical/logical way (as opposed to guessing).
........a bit!!!!!!
Since you are on 4.0 3 ,why don't you flash the official jelly bean XXLS8 update via odin? Than root it with cf root

stop!
before messing with pit files, which is extremely dangerous, flash a stock ROM through Odin and then do a factory reset from recovery

Exactly this^^^^....pit file flashing is an absolute last resort, not a first solution
did you tried flashing 4.0.4 stock rom with odin?
same thing happened to me 2 weeks ago, flashing 4.0.4 and after that flashing 4.1.2 fixed it.
try to do not mess with pit especially if you didn't backup your efs folder. it is not needed.

I've already tried to flash a stock firmware, but I still couldn't get it into recovery. I'm not sure if it was the right one though. I have a regular unbranded SIII, is there a specific firmware I should flash?

okay? the first thing to do here is just flash a stock ROM, no need for pit files
Mine was stuck before than samsung logo, on the model number screen. Almost 1 second or less after opening the device.
Then i flashed 4.0.4 and magically it opened without any loop or something. Its useless to flash 4.1.2 or any other jb stock rom, for some reason it seems not fixing the loop issue.
Again, there is no problem related with pit files.

It's all individual, what worked for you might not work for others. Don't say that flashing JB is useless, because it's not
I flashed stock 4.0.4 firmware through odin. The operation was successful, but I was still unable to enter recovery. What am I doing wrong?

Follow the steps to root and flash your custom ROM again as if you just got your phone. The same thing happened to my T999, and it took me 3 tries doing this to finally get back into Recovery.
try to flash in odin stock rom then root use cwm then try to go to recovery..
My cousin's having the same exact issue and we've been unable to find the proper rom. Can anyone please tell me where to get one? I've downloaded some "international" ones but when i try to upload it it keeps telling me failed, i've tried at least 4 or 5 different roms.
ANY help would be greatly appreciated!!
Phone is:
GT-i9300
using it in the US with StraightTalk in the US (been working like a charm for ~6 months, all of a suddent when into this weird limp mode)
Phone was running jellybean 4.1.1 (through kies) and not rooted
Try several times before giving up. Sometimes it works after when the device feels that you've had enough stress and fear.
I mean the problem is common but it's solved in different ways or different repeats.
But it seems that your problem is a software problem that can be solved.

Hi,
I think I bricked my phone. The phone is stucked in the Samsung GT-I9300 screen and I can't boot in recovery mode, I only boot in download mode
Someone can bring me the links for the stock rom but which are in separate files.
I need the CSC, the bootloader, PHONE and the rom (PDA) separately.
I follow some threads but I always receive the error NAND WRITE START.
I try flashing the PIT file but doesnt work.
If someone had fix a similar situation like that, please let me know
My phone is Samsung SIII I9300 (International) 16 gb
Thanks in advance

I'veen searching for this files and I can't find them , I look in the general section and Q&A and Troubleshooting section too and I only find the single file of the stock rom i need the files separately.
Or any advice to try to unbrick my phone
the single file conains all the files you need (.tar is a version of a zip file)
download it and extract them
you are trying to make this harder than it is
seriously, i suggest reading up on things before attempting to do anything
Try flashing without the PIT File

Dude try flashing without the .PIT file. All of the available S3 Firmwares are in just 1 single file.
