Changing tray icons - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

How the hell is it done? I've seen plenty of threads relating to switching the icons for WiFi, BT, GPS, etc.....but nothing for the Back, Home, and Menu buttons. Just flashed Androwook 1.4 hoping my icons would match those in the screenie, but no go >.<
Any input....or hints even?

The photoshopped screenies that pretty much act as the header for the AndroWook post.
If you look at the center image, you'll see that the back, home and recent apps icons are all pretty like. How are these swapped out?
Also, good looks on that Bluestacks issue when flashing over the recovery. Thanks again

[MOD] I9000 *matte* skin and accurate battery *10/5/2010*

First and foremost, this would not have originally been possible without all the hard work zimphishmonger and the3dman13 did to bring fighspit's original battery mod to the vibrant, please see the original thread here, and give them some thanks! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=756441
I'm also borrowing zimphishmonger's warning, as i think it works to keep warning messages standard across all these battery mod threads.
WARNING: ALWAYS make a nandroid backup prior to installing any modification, including this one. You are making the decision to install this on your own, and I am not responsible for anything nuclear that may happen to your device.
UPDATE.. I lost count (10/5/2010)
So I dig Eugene's Frankin-twiz rom's, but I still want to keep my accurate battery mod, and well, I think his glossy-black skin is ugly. I also think the stock vibrant touchwiz skin is ugly (for the love of all that's holy samsung, why did you decide the vibrant would be the ONLY galaxy s phone to get your stupid glossy version of touchwiz?!)
So, I ported my battery mod to frankin-twiz and at the same time, ripped all the matte (non glossy) drawable's from the I9000 touchwiz skin, and added in my colored status/signal, mms, calendar, music player, and gmail icons, restored the black background for the power control widget, added HTC's weather icons to GenieWidget.apk, changed to the stock I9000 bootup and shutdown animation and sounds, and of course, I probably missed something else too, lol. You can see some (semi-outdated) screenshots here: http://picasaweb.google.com/113127051130934911253/AndroidStuff?feat=directlink
Also, if you find yourself being a typography nerd like me, you can use this zip to switch the default system font to Comfortaa I take NO CREDIT WHATSOEVER for making the original font, or the android port, I only re-packaged the files into a Clockwork-mod zip file for the vibrant. This will also change the lockscreen clock font to comfortaa, but ONLY if using the default android lockscreen.
Comfortaa system fonts: http://www.4shared.com/file/hYu1TYHL/Comfortaa_system_fonts_ONLY.html
New for ftwiz_final: I'm including an extra version with the samsung calendar AND the AOSP mms app, per Eugene's thread, since it resolves issues with being unable to send sms/mms messages. I'm also including the newest version of my battery mod (this is the version I personally like best and use daily), based on the upright/vertical icons, but with colored borders/outline, and a smoother charging animation (thanks to untermensch!) This can be applied on its own, after you flash either of the other versions. If flashed without flashing one of the other versions first, it DOES NOT contain the gmail/calendar/mms/music player icons, or the startup & shutdown animations and sounds. You can see a screenshot added to the post below too.
Download links here, ftwiz_final ONLY:
Removed, sorry, too many people use other people's work without giving credit, and it leads to way too many headaches, he-said/she-said, ignorance, etc.
Everything should flash via clockwork recovery fine, place the zip on the root of your INTERNAL /sdcard directory, reboot into clockwork, I recommend wiping the cache & dalvik-cache, then install zip from sdcard, locate the specific zip, reboot.
Enjoy, cheers everyone, and if you come in here posting bugs/whining for help without first making sure you cleared your cache and dalvik-cache, then I'm just going to ignore you,
Looks Great!!!
Thanks alot works well on my phone
i love it! not a big fan of the round battery icon, so this is great
Great work! Glad to see everyone is making their own customized battery images. We are gonna have a battery collection soon.
just a quick update to the OP with a new version with some colored/themed status icons.
cheers

I did, switched from the green circle. The battery indicator works fine.
I used the circle one but saw this with the other colored icons and thought they were cool. Seems that they don't quite work properly. Stock the GPS indicator shows in the notification bar any time it's on. With the new icons from the op the indicator is only on if I'm in an app that is using the GPS. I'm going to flash back to stock then to the battery only mod (i figure I need to to switch the other icons?)

Hi,
Thanks for trying it out. I have no idea how there might be issues since this is literally just img replacement from the segmented green circular battery mod, so however icons should work with that mod, is how they should work with this mod.
Maybe run a fix permissions from rom manager and see if that helps?
Also, my GPS icon has never worked like you described, even stock, (in other words, mine isn't always visible in notification bar, even when not in an app actively using gps, its displayed only when using an app that needs GPS, and disappeared when exiting the app.)
If you want to try and modify your own framework-res.apk with these files, I may upload just my png images once I'm done replacing/coloring all the icons I feel like modifying.
Thanks again for trying it out though, cheers
Lastly, I got bored and colored the wifi icons, cell-signal icons, and vibration indicator icon, I'll post the framework-res.apk in the first post, but won't package a new update.zip until I decide I'm done modifying icons, lol.

Hey again,
Glad I wasn't screwing up phone's, lol.
Anyway, I'm still working on changing all the icons, can't seem to decide where to stop yet, since now I've started modifying icons for other apps, gmail, mms, google voice, trillian, etc. And of course, now that I've gone with a slightly brighter green in the other icons, I may go back and tweak the color of my battery icon to match.
Anyway, here's a screenshot of some of the icons I'm mostly finished with (though for some reason I'm not digging the alarm icon, anyone have color suggestions for it?)

Yeah...sorry about that. Anyway I hate that stupid icon to begin with so maybe something totally different? I did a GIS for alarm clock icon and there are a lot of possibilities. I think that maybe the stock one with a red square and white clock could be good.

If you don't already have it, I suggest you install Koush's Clockwork Recovery. You can install it quickly by using ROM Manager.
Once you boot into the recovery ROM, you can back up your entire phone using Nandroid (highly advised) and then you're free to experiment to your heart's content.
Now back to your question: you can save the file to your internal SD card and search for it using the 'Install from SD' (or something like that) option in the Clockwork ROM, install it and reboot.
Good luck, friend.
What's the right way to revert this? framework-res.apk restore?

Hi,
Yes, restoring your backed-up framework-res.apk will restore the battery mod. If you used the newer zip that also includes the Gmail icon mod, then you'll need to restore Gmail.apk too /system/app too.

[Mod][CM7] Honeycomb Softkey Icons [Updated 4/18]

I've been wanting something like this that we can flash over any of the latest Cm7 versions with the status bar softkeys (from mad-murdock).
So I just threw one together myself.
This is a CWM zip file that you can flash with clockworkmod and will replace the soft key icons in CM7 with the honeycomb ones.
Thanks to:
The Cm7 Team
Phiredrop for his phiremod cm7 stuff
nfcrockett for uploading the icons from the SDK.
coldboot for inspiration
Please Note: This does not work on the current batch of nightlies, and I will not update this particular mod until there is another cm7 final release.
If you wish to do so yourself, feel free to use the icons from the apk

Version for Gtab and Vega Users:

Install Via CWM - All warnings apply, if it screws something up - not my fault
Worked fine on my nook.
Changelog:
4/18 Gtab/Vega Users update: The Gtab/Vega version should now properly install on Gtabs and the Vega - I have not been able to test this (and the guys in the Gtab IRC were less than helpful) So I need some feedback on this.
4/15 Phiremod Edition:[/B] This should be able to seamlessly flash over phiremod without losing any of his themed elements in the notification bar. Big thanks to phiredrop!
4/13 v1.3: Changed the notification pulldown shade to be darker (less transparent) for people having issues with it.
4/11 v1.2: Made a new search Icon from scratch - let me know what you guys think!
4/11: Top should now be working, I also edited the search button background to match the rest of them. I had forgotten about it, because I dont use it. I'll try to whip up a more honeycomb-esque looking one later.
Feedback is welcome/appreciated. Screenshot attached.
looks good mate. cheers!
It does look really good.
I use status bar on top alot, especially when using nesoid, or when my daughter is playing on it. So if you would like to make a version that changes the icons in both modes, i'd really appreciate it.
Thanks, yeah I'll update it to work on top as well. Should be up later tonight when I get home from work.

Thanks for putting this together. I really liked the HC look. If only the launcher was functional.

Looks great, but i do see one oddity - the search icon is noticably lighter in background than the rest of the icons.. almost like search was in a selected state. Its not, but it looks a bit wierd. if you could fix that, this would be perfect!

Great job, thanks for making the changes thus far, the icons look really good. I especially like that the icons have no background image and they are just "in" the status bar. It looks alot cleaner that way imho.
Very nice work! I like using the "Cyanabread" theme and having the "green" in the Notification icon kinda throws things off from an aesthetics perspective. I would like to have the icons bigger, like when I was running HC, but that is a CM7 thing, I think.

They can be made bigger. They ended up coming out a little small when I was resizing them. Personally I like them how they are though.
Thanks for this man. I think personally it goes better then the stock buttons, because they look built-in, instead of just literal buttons. No offense to the stock button designer!

It is inthe idlescreen_base.apk. You must use the M10 editor to get into the files. I know some have made some changes to removing the clock etc. So I am goign to say it's probably possible, but no one has done moved those buttons. Myself have it on my list cuase I want to add a 5th and 6th buton myself.

[Q] App list, dialer and other basic questions after Jester's Liquid ICS

I've recently updated to Jesters Liquid beta rom and now to the new 2.7 version if this makes any difference. I used to have a setting on the stock rom that allowed me to view all my apps as a list instead of pages of icons. I can't find this setting now. Is this due to Nova launcher, ICS, or me just not being able to find it? I really, really prefer a list with large text, much like the manage apps list that shows up, instead of a bunch of little icons that all look similar to older eyes that also don't see colors well.
I use Go Contacts ex and it's dialer, but this seems to be the same with the stock dialer. If I program a number to speed dial that has pauses inserted int he number, the call will not go through. It worked on the stock rom, but not on the newer roms. Is there a different dialer I could try or some other setting I can use to make these numbers with the pauses work again? (that's a trick from long ago where you would insert a pause after the phone number and then another number after it, like a password or access code, so that you could get into a voicemail system, etc. by just using your speed dial)
Pop up notification from a phone call. Any way to really increase the size of the text on this? I don't have any contact pictures downloaded, so I need to be able to see the name or number of who's calling. Any suggestions?
The status bar at the very top. I think I've figured out most of the icons, but could use a little help to be sure. Left to right it looks like
Bluetooth Screen brightness Location settings? (does this turn on and off GPS or what?) Refresh (is this to turn off sync features or what does it do) Wifi, Flashlight. How did I do?
I can come up with more questions, but I'm guessing you're tired of reading by now, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
So, 24 hours, almost 200 views and not one response? I must have asked the most difficult noob questions ever, or am just so stoooopid that no one wants to waste their time with me. Wonder which one it is?
I can only help with the status bar question.....
Go to Menu.... System settings .... Interface ....... Status bar ....... Toggles....... Power widget ....... Widget button order.
From there you can see what is selected and the associated icons. I have changed the defaults, so I don't know if your guesses are correct. From the Power widget menu, choose Widget buttons to change which buttons are displayed.

I'm using Apex launcher on Liquid's pure ICS, not Nova on Jester's, but they're more alike than different and you can install Apex if Nova doesn't have this. But either way, try hitting the menu key, then Manage Apps, it should give you a list like you're looking for. Likewise, go to the App Drawer and click on Menu and it should give you the same option, or Settings -->Device -->Apps

I use the stock dialer, so I'm not sure about Go, but having used it in the past, I'm sure what you're looking for is in there. You might want to see if there's a FAQ section on their website, or go to one of the less technical forums and do a search in their apps section. Alternately, you could try DW Dialer, EX Dialer or Dialer One and see if they better meet your needs.

I tried it on the stock dialer too. The problem appears to be related to the stock dialer programming. I think the dialer apps I've played with somehow just piggyback off the stock dialer for function.

And just to be clear. If I select Manage Apps, a list of apps does show up like I'm wanting, but that menu is made for stopping, uninstalling, etc. I would like my app drawer button or whatever you call it to display my apps as a list when I'm looking for an app to open. I'll download Apex and give it a spin
It's an inelegant solution but maybe a good start. Download ES File explorer. That has an app manager button that lists everything in text format. Click in an app and it gives you a choice for details or open.

That kind of works. If I leave the app manager open in list view as the last thing in that app, then each time the app is opened I get a list view of apps. It requires pushing on the app and then pushing open, but at least it's a list, so I'm happy. Apex lets me move the app icon out of the way and stick the ES app in it's place, so this will work for now I think.

That kind of works. If I leave the app manager open in list view as the last thing in that app, then each time the app is opened I get a list view of apps. It requires pushing on the app and then pushing open, but at least it's a list, so I'm happy. It's a Sense thing. I think most of what you're looking for is available stock on Sense based roms.
Someone just developed a new one based on the BAMF leak and it's pretty smooth.

I'll look, but honestly, I really don't enjoy switching to new roms. It takes me forever to get everything up and running the way I want it and to learn almost enough to function daily with it. I do like the list view though, so I'll keep an eye on reports of battery life. I did try the BAMF leak and was extremely disappointed with the battery life (running extended battery) and data drops. That was my first new rom (I originally rooted just to get rid of bloatware), and I was complaining about my dislikes on another forum when someone pointed me to Liquid's version here. I downloaded Jesters beta version and loved it compared to the BAMF leak. After having read all the internet articles, I was under the impression that the BAMF leak was the cat's meow. Now I realize those articles are about as unbiased as the national so called news.
Is Santod's new sense rom as laggy as the BAMF leak, or have they tweaked that out of it by now.

Almost no comparison to BAMF. Much smoother. Honestly, not as smooth as Liquid/Jester but data/signal seems more stable and almist everything works.
If visual stuff, contrast and ease if use are issues for you, it's worth a spin. I'm also running Apex. I don't know if that contributes to lag over the native Sense, but it has the features I want.
Yeah, switching toms is a royal pain, but you do what ya gotta do.

[MODS][SENSE 4.X]Lockscreen Mods - Requests Welcome!

Hey everyone, it's time for some custom lockscreens!
I will not be doing any requests for a device with a different screen resolution
What can be modded?
Time/date
Operator text
Pull to unlock text
Lockring & Shortcuts
Everything you see
What can be done to these?
Moved around anywhere on the screen
Shrunk/Enlarged
Show/Hide
The possibilities are endless.
*The only problems will be that if you want your shortcuts moved around, they might not drag to the lock ring correctly thus making them unusable. Also, the buttons to answer calls may be a little tricky because I cant always test that right away.* Tell me what you want, and I will tell you if they work.
These mods should work on ANY Sense 4.x ROM based on ICS, but, please upload your Idlescreen_Base.apk to ensure that this will not break anything. It saves headaches.
So just post your Idlescreen_Base.apk and tell me what you want done. I will post them all in the second post. Don't worry if I don't get to your request immediately, it will be done. Sometimes college comes first
Attached are a few examples of what I've done/can be done.
This post is where I will link and keep track of every request/mod I do.

Here's a link to one I've already done: Center Lock Mod

hell to the YES!
I'll help out too in what little spare time I have, and answer questions if needed.
Yesterday I figured out how to *add* a scale factor for the all apps png in rosie (so in theory similar logic could apply to lockscreen thigns), thanks to Dunc001 for the question and bebida for the idea
Nice thread buddy!
Hmm interesting....where is this base apk and could you do the text shortcuts at bottom....with the time at the top like normal with my PowerAmp widget in the middle?
Ah never mind I just flashed a 3.6 sense Rom now

Not at the moment but we will be able to in the (near?) future hopefully.

Sure I uploaded a stock revert zip based off of the newest RUU in the second post.
Thanks for posting this Gumby63! I saw you guys talking about this a little while ago. Screenshots here show just how versatile and interesting this mod can be.
I attempted to see what it would take to do something more "Sense 1/2ish" with the sliding down of the bar to unlock just for fun. It looks entirely doable because, by essentially enlarging the lockring, it flows off of the screen, giving that bar-type effect.
Plus, if the ring is long enough on the left and right sides, the ring looks way more bar-like. No matter where you drag, the ring is too "ovally" to look like it's being moved from side to side.
The problems I found were expanding the invisible dragging area so that it covers the entire ring, the fact that the bar drags down, not up, and that when scaled up, of course the ring looks bad.
--
I'm excited to see what you come up with. One thing that has me curious is, could the setups be done in several APK files for ease of selection? The stocks, productivity, weather, etc. lockscreens are set up as different APKs.
Way awesome.

Hmm that's actually a really cool idea. So I'm trying to understand the problem you ran into. Do you mean that touching a certain part of the ring doesn't allow you to drag it? I think that's what you mean. I'm sure there's a property somewhere that controls this, I'll look around for it.
I know that you can make it so that you can drag the ring down to unlock, I did that for the mod in post 2.
Would you mind posting the apk?
And to answer your other question, yes I believe that is possible but I'm not sure as I've never tried.
My guess would be that you need to make any edits to the lockring/shortcuts etc in Idlescreen_base first, then make the edits to weather/productivity etc to make them fit according to the edits made in idle base.
Thanks for the input

Thanks. Yeah. I believe that I'm missing a step with the lockscreencontainer.
I've attached it. It's probably best if you turn lockscreen shortcuts off as I just quickly through that together. Also, imagine that you're pulling down the ring rather than pulling it up. I also went ahead and moved the carrier caption and date down there as well. It's static, so it doesn't work quite like it did, but I was just playing around anyways.
Thanks!

Okay so I messed around with it a bit, and here's the outcome.
You can drag down to unlock, and I hid the unlock animation so it actually functions like the Sense 1 lockscreen would have. I moved the call buttons up (but haven't tested them yet) so in theory those should work, but everything else like music/notifcations etc will still overlap.
Pretty neat idea. Looks strange, but neat!
Apk is attached for anyone who wants to play with it.

I have to admit, for something that wasn't designed to do that, it's really very good. You're right. It's strange, but hey, It's making me feel strangely nostalgic at the moment. Thank you!
I hope to see a few more mini-guides on messing with the elements (proportions correct) a little more. Of course, I should probably read the entire M10 editing thread.
Thanks again.
Edit: BTW - It does say 0 views (I suppose it takes a minute or two to update). I did actually download it.
