If I'm running a custom recovery on a rooted phone/unlocked phone, do I need to flash the original image and lock the phone before I can update ?
also available here in Switzerland.
I have a question after installing this update am i need to reroot my phone or no.
Thanks
Edit: its impossible to flash this update in phones with custom recovery (error 7),
So can someone have the stock recovery.img to reverse to stock recovery to able flashing this OTA update then return to custom recovery.

Did anyone who got this update notice if it improved bluetooth call quality? Right now it's surprisingly poor. HTC had previously confirmed it and stated a fix should be on its way "soon".

Do me a favor and let you know if you hear of something. I use bluetooth all day at work on my phone and it's terrible! Have to literally have bluetooth volume as low as it goes to make it tolerable! Also getting a bluetooth stereo headset soon for music controls (hopefully they work as wired music controls such as volume control and skip/rewind tracks do not work on this device!!!) so hopefully my music playback won't be crap too. For ATT here no OTA update. Maybe a dev can extract this stuff so we can install without worrying about root and bootloader changes now we're all unlocked???

For what it's worth A2DP is fine. I listen to podcasts and music and whatnot on my bluetooth headset all the time and it's pretty great. Then a call comes in and it's like Optimus Prime is taking a dump in my ear. I'll be camping the Q&A section thread on this and I'll post if I get anything OTA or hear anything new.

Rofl! Thank you for making me spit coffee all over my desk.
Are we happy with the update or are there new bugs? So yes, where do you notice the improvements?
I haven't updated yet, first I wanna read some opinions
People with bluetooth headsets remind me Robocops so not suprised that they talk with Optimus Prime on daily basis.
If you direct orders like this everything need to be on time.
A bit like in The Thomas Crown Affair from 1968. They had also lamp just in case.
Can imagine wife calling 3 days before period and giving list to do.

I have not had any issues with the wired controls. I am using a HTC RC E190 and headset droid with no issues. I actually haven't tested the phone capabilities (worked on the One X), but the volume control, next track, and play/pause are working with no issues.

OTA Update means lock/unlock BL first, and that would mean a loss of all data on the phone 30 GB of music, apps and user costumizations.... no hurry for that, and I could flash a custom rom with not having this problems... On the other hand I am very satisfied with stock rom!
I had made the backup and reverted to stock. Surprise no OTA, even if my CID appears in the zip and I am current on 1.14.401.18

Same. I had to return to ROM 1.14.401.16 and then the update shows.

Restored stock recovery, re-locked bootloader, ran RUU v1.14.401.18. After first reboot and setup I checked for update and got the OTA for v1.16.401.6. Installed without problems, no need to go to v1.14.401.16 first. My phone is cid HTC__E11.

Good to see. Hopefully AT&T will get one out soon to resolve the BT issue. I'm coming up on my 30 day return period and its going back if it doesn't get fixed. Then when they fix it, I'll buy it again.

Dear all,
Going through many threads on BT functionality on WM2003SE, this memory just flashed back. I remember there was a permanently displaying (new) BT icon next to the signal strength icon when I was using WM2003SE V.2.02 (DCS's) and was impressed by its fast call transferability (no delay phone -> headset). Such icon disappears in the version 2.06. Now, there is only the 1.72-identical headset BT icon that only will display when there is an incoming call and it delays the transferabilty of calls to the headset
My question is, does anyone know what specific software do I have to reinstall to the v2.06 to reactivate such BT headset connectivity. If so, please also post the file. Thanks in advance .
Cheers,
HI
you need to go "back" to 2.02t ROM.
For some reason, is THE ONLY ROM around with a minimum BT support.

Do you have the registry of 2.02? I've been attempting to get a copy so that I can port over the good stuff of 2.02 to 2.06 and issue a CAB patch to help things along. Seems that no one is interested...
Since 2.20CHS is the most stable. I have uploaded the registry of 2.20 if you are interested.
FYI,
For the BT Handsfree option to appear.
You will need to have this registry key around.

I meant it for 2.06 ROM users to have Handsfree option appearing in the Bluetooth Window.

Sorry to hear that. I was hoping folks would just compare it against 2.02/2.06 and deduce the enhancements entries.
Sad and sorry
Sorry to hear that folks.
Has anyone checked the option?
Why the "stereo behaviour"?
Any idea on how to fix it?
My few days experience with 2.02t1 is that it is a bit unstable, and BT handsfree produces the stereo effect on BOTH microphone AND headset.
Furthermore the relevance of the headset icon on top and the "BT headset enabled/disabled" message in today screen is a complete mistery. For my handsfree BT car kit to operate, I need to select handsfree in the BT devices menu, then "headset" icon appears, so it's confusing. Plus, if you have both, handsfree and headset devices active simultaneously, there is no way for you to know wich one has the priority.
We need some manual or the like. Has anyone some instructions available?
resco registry
can anyone please send the registry file to use with resco registry?
please...
thanks

I am on 2.06 and the handsfree is not ideal at all. The only thing that really work for me in handsfree mode is when I want to have two party on my end . Since the audio comes out of the BT set and the handset simultaneously, it's great for local conferencing with a remote party.
Since I also have the BT Tools installed, it may had confused the issue.
In the end I switched off the HandsfreeProfileOn by renaming it to OFF. Use Headset mode and all is fine.
I also noticed that in Handsfree mode, it will switch off my BT headset POWER when I hang up the call and that is totally out for me.....
In the mean time, That could be all that we have with the current BT drivers.
I would hope the BT can do the followings:
-Stream Audio from the XDAII
-Real Handstree mode to work with Voice Command
-Buttom assignment on the BH device
Bt still needs improuvement
Hi, I fully agree with your "BT wishes".
It looks like the fact that no "official" 2003 SE release is available for XDA II, is related to the fact that BT support is not yet fully implemented.
Maybe 2.20 versions solves that, but time being I've been embarrased too wearing my head set in one ear, and my XDA in the other... kind of sillyness...
Since I do NOT have BT Tools installed, I think this is not the issue, but again, those are poor implementations of the Handsfree profile.
We are getting closer, but obviously not there yet.

I made this originally for the international Note 2 N7100 but it seems like it works on other samsung phones also. (I only tested it with 2 phones so there may be bugs)
It is the only Beats Audio that I have ever seen to work system-wide, from Youtube to Pandora. So after trying countless different "Beats Audio" zips on this site and not one single one working for my N7100 I have finally put together what I call Franken-Beats Audio. It takes files from all kinds of different Beats Audio zips (from the S3, the note 1, to the nexus, and S2) and now works 100% for me on my stock rooted n7100.
It's pretty self explanatory but here's some instructions...
Remove any previous audio mods first. It most likely won't work right with a modified kernel or other audio mods
1. Download zip below
2. Copy to SD card
3. Flash with cwm
4. Reboot
5. Settings, Sound, Music Effects, select DSPManager, Press OK.
6. Open DSPManager App, edit settings to your liking in the "Headset" tab.
7. Use new "Music" app to play songs and enjoy!
*BUGS*
So far the only bug I see is that enabling "Dynamic Range Compression" lowers effect of other settings or disables them completely. Solution? Don't turn it on.
Bluetooth settings don't seem to work. You can only control the audio from the "Headset" tab.
-------------------------------------------
My personal settings I enjoy using with my own Beats headphones are as follows:
Bass Boost: Enabled - Moderate
EQ: Enabled - Flat
Everything else is off
If you find any bugs feel free to report them here. I'll try to work on it but it is working fine for me right now. This may or may not work on other roms, I haven't tested it on anything but stock rooted N7100.
Thanks to everyone who supplied me with the files around this forum used to create my Franken-Beats

Just finished installing 1.08. Rebooted the phone and made it through setup. Then I went back to Recovery and flashed this, with a Cache/Dalvik wipe after it was done. Everything working on this end! I can hear the DSP changes taking effect.

You could install an equalizer app, boost the bass, and get the same thing without degrading audio quality. Or, use Voodoo Sound, Boeffla Sound, ScoobyDoo Sound, or one of the other sound variants and have better quality and more options.
Would this work on AOSP?

Well, it's Beats...
I personally thinks Beats sounds like trash. It overpowers the mid-bass and suppresses the mids and treble, so all you get is this thumpy, muddy mess without any clarity or definition.
To each their own, but any time I hear anyone talking about how great Beats is, I immediately discount anything they say about audio.

Beats Audio is a set of items, mainly software. However, from what I have read, people that have hooked up an analyzer to the headphone jack of a phone with Beats Audio, there is more "noise" in the output with Beats on compared to off. Probably not something a user would notice with the change in the EQ curve. In any case the software side is just an EQ curve. If you really like to pump up the low end and kill the high end, get PowerAmp or similar and reproduce the EQ.

How does this compare to Noozxoide in terms of quality of sound?
Everyone is forgetting the original reason this was made was because I tried all the other audio mods on my GT-N7100 and none of them worked or had any effect. This is the only one which did what I wanted to do. And for the people who say it sounds bad, that depends on what you listen to and how loud you actually make it.
So upgraded to .136 and now the Sound Effects wont do anything under settings.
It only works when access via Walkman and only for walkman.
I was able to use it for any app before in 290 and from the Settings menu.
Anyone else having the same issue? :/
Yes I'm experiencing same here... I wasn't aware that it worked with walkman. I hope this wasn't done intentionally, as our phone wasn't very loud to begin with!
I also noticed that if I receive a call or check my voicemail while Sirius XM is active in the background, once the call is ended the eq is one again enabled. This leaves hope for a correction update.
It is even worst now! I just noticed that even with Walkman it will work with MP3s but no longer with FLAC files.
I am about to research how to go back to .290 :/
weird it works for me with power amp and other players. I can change the sound enhancement setting and listen to change in the effects

i upgraded from 290 and flashed the new german tft then rooted using jackie099 way, first think I test, is the sony sound enhancements, and I test always sound effects first thing as I am very critical to test sound effects and works on every player from power amp to jet player , then I installed viber and it works on the whole system too, for every player.
so no complains in the sound section for me, also bluetooth streaming works great no complains.
yes works on flac, and all other formats

I guess all I need to do with NUT's steps is to format system, data partition maybe even internal SD then just Step 5 and 6 from his guide?
Files:
For C6833: Download C6833_14.2.A.1.136.flashable.zip (Bittorrent: 826MB) and C6833_14.2.A.1.136_Stripped.ftf (21MB)
Save them somewhere you remember;
Put 'C68XX_14.2.A.1.136.flashable.zip' on (the external) SDcard1;
Put 'C68XX_14.2.A.1.136_Stripped.ftf' inside the Flashtool/firmwares folder;
Create a backup of your phone in TWRP and don't forget to backup the contents of 'SDCard' (the internal storage!);
#5 Flash 'C68XX_14.2.A.1.136.flashable.zip' in TWRP;
NOTE: do not reboot but go back to the main menu, then go to reboot->power off;
#6 Flash everything in 'C68XX_14.2.A.1.136_Stripped.ftf' using flashtool;
Reboot to system.

ahahahah sorry about that, hope you get it soon...I can almost picture you waiting for it...
I just deleted Data partition, Format system, dalvik etc (not format internal), flashed again and while the MusicFx seems to work more consistently now from the Settings menu not just from Walkman settings, it still does not apply to any other app and it still does not affect FLAC files, only my MP3s. This is getting me pissed off...may just end up converting all FLAC to mp3 if I cant find a fix and call it a day.
I will wait for the 6802 version..maybe that will do it.
I think the phone sounds best flat without any EQ settings applied or ClearAudio+ etc.
Specially since I bought a small headphone amplifier today and connected between the phone and headphones. When pumping up the sound high enough with it (and trust me it gets high, way higher than without), the EQ settings does not make any difference to the sound anymore what so ever. Only on lower volumes. Good cheap investment I made.

I guess it all depends on what kind of music you listen to though and what you prefer in the sound.

Too many factors come into play. Headphones, type of music. amp, EARS and preferences. So that is why I no longer ask for headphones recommendations and the likes after going through a big testing phase

After getting into new headphones and amp, now I am getting curious about external dacs...it never ends! lol

My sound settings work perfectly fine using Power Amp on .136
UPDATE!
I got sound enhancement working with 136 for FLAC and any other app. As I recalled I had other issues before when running non 6802 ROMS on my phone, I was still holding on to some hope that a 6802 based 136 ROM would be the one that will work...and IT DID!
I just flashed the 136 from the NUT thread and it is all working great.
PS After finishing TIBU and all updates, I lost again the FLAC and other apps using Sound Enhancements. I tested it before right after flashing to make sure it was working but no idea how something I restored could affect this since I never restore system apps and besides, I restored even less apps this time that I did on 290 so I guess we are back to blaming a glitchy 136. In any case, I am going to just use MP3 VBR at highest rate since in reality, you cant tell the difference with a phone and external amp...
I am almost tempted to flash again just to determine if it was something I restored or what made it not work again.
PS 2. Flashed again and tested flac again and it works. Hopefully I will find out what exactly is making it stop when I restored apps.
Hi there,
i got my new Elephone S8 and have a issue when i want to stream Youtube via Bluetooth to my headset.
It keeps sturring the whole time, but don't know why.
Maybe unstable bluetooth connectivity?
With my old smartphone Honor 7 i never had this issue!
Does anybody have the same issue or knows how to fix it?
I'm not a developer or something, but could the EngineerMode (*#*#3646633#*#*) solve that?
Thanks and regards!
Hmm, I use my S8 with a BT headset about 6-8 hours a day, mostly music and audio books, but a fair amount of YouTube as well, with no such problem.
The only issues I have had is if I was holding the phone in Landscape mode watching a video and my hand covered the upper back of the phone (where the cam lives). I suspect the radios are there and my hand was interfering with the reception/transmission of the BT radio.
If that's not it, and if it happens with different BT devices, might want to look into an exchange, you might have a defective phone.

yes, this happens with different BT devices, regardless if I stream music via Youtube or Spotify... its always stuttering.
Would be a shame if I have to send it back to Hong Kong (Gearbest) just because of the costs...
Anybody else has an idea?

I have the same problem if my smartwatch is connected. Disconnect watch, start music or video, then reconnect my watch and all is fine.
Yeah, mine has started doing the same thing. I've had the phone for about 5 months. Rebooting the phone fixes it when it starts doing it.
So I have a different Bluetooth problem...
While I *can* connect an Anker Bluetooth receiver to make my wired headphones Bluetooth, I can't hear anything with pure Bluetooth headphones... When they connect and I start playing sound, it makes the phone lag and nothing comes out of the headphones apart from the occasional pop.
Anyone else with this problem and possibly know a fix? I've tried doing the whole "disconnect smartwatch, connect headphones, connect smartwatch" but it hasn't worked
If you just received this phone, it might be better to just return it. Full of defects and no support.
Did you try changing volume when it's connected to BT.
Make sure that output is set to BT.

I had the same problem. But after enabled "BT RX ADC Clock selection" it seems to work fine. Go to service mode *#*#3646633#*#* and then >Connectivity>Bluetooth>BT RX ADC Clock slelection> Turn on.

I couldn't find Bluetooth under connectivity - are you sure that's where it is?

- to complete close Smartwatch-App /
Music-App / YouTube/
- connect Bluetooth device
- start YouTube / Music / App ....

DUDE I LOVE YOU, works for me, i using my elephone s8 now and work"s fine!!!
I had a problem with unstable BT connection aswell. Nothing worked for me from this forum and others. It can be update on some app or just some user installed app itself. I didn't check this solution on factory rom because I installed alternative rom months ago but, should work there aswell. I don't know which app it is, so my solution is radical: Factory reset + blocking updates on all apps in google play.
Hi folks,
I've scoured the web and haven't found an answer on Google Maps support, and I think this is specific to the Pixel 6 because two other phones I have don't do this.
My Pixel 6 (still on January update, completely stock, no root or other mods) won't let me use the phone speaker for Google Maps navigation. It ALWAYS puts the sound through the bluetooth connection to the car it's paired with. I don't want that, I want the navigation voice to use the phone speaker (because I usually use the car radio, not bluetooth audio, and when the car is in radio mode any voice directions sent over bluetooth aren't heard).
The "answer" I always find is to turn off "play voice over bluetooth" but I've ALREADY DONE THAT.
In Maps, Account, Settings, Navigation settings, Sound&Voice, here is the setting on my phone:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

You can see voice over bluetooth is toggled off. I've tried turning it on then off again, no effect. It always sends voice over bluetooth.
I'm convinced somewhere in the Pixel it's trapping all audio when paired and sending it over bluetooth, aside from this specific screen. Where would the setting be to turn it off. I've tried two other android phones, one on Android 11 and on on Android 9, and neither do this.
This is driving me crazy, literally. The only fix is to turn off bluetooth, but then phone pairing of course doesn't work for calls and messages. Help!
Yep, same here and it's annoying.
I started a thread on the google community:
Navigation won't use speaker; uses bluetooth even when "play voice over bluetooth" is disabled - Google Maps Community

Interesting! I found one other report similar to mine, also on a Pixel (a 4 I think) besides this thread. I bet there is some Pixel specific setting somewhere I need to toggle.
@a g bell by any chance have you taken the February update? I have held off on it due to reports of wifi issues... I wonder if this is fixed in February's update?
Yes l have the latest Feb patch from last week
Hmmm... Maybe it's worth me risking taking the update then.
So, I updated to the February update but no joy on this Maps issue. No change at all before/after update.
It's actually quite interesting, and inexplicable. I did a test sitting in my office, with Bluetooth "on" but not paired to any devices. No sound from the speaker when I play the test sound.
Next I turned off bluetooth entirely in the connection settings. Then, going back in to Navigation settings and playing a test sound gets the proper speaker sounds.
Turning bluetooth back on (but again, not paired with anything) results in no speaker sound for the Test Sound in Maps.
All other audio on the phone is fine; nothing else is being trapped and sent to a nonexistent bluetooth connection.
I've been doing the following as a workaround.
Locate the bluetooth settings on your phone for your vehicle and turn off media audio. Your phone call will still go through your vehicle speakers and your navigation audio will go through your phone.
You unfortunately will not be able to listen to bluetooth music from your phone over your vehicle speakers with that setting disabled.
I just hope Android 13 is not as big of a failure as Android 12 has been.
I've found a "sort of workaround for some situations."
After some playing around, I got to the point where, with bluetooth turned on, but nothing connected (just me and my phone in my office, no bluetooth devices connected), I was getting the navigation voice over the phone speaker. Yay.
Of course, going into my car, and connecting via bluetooth, the voice stopped, being forced over bluetooth even though I had turned off "Play voice over bluetooth" in the navigation settings (and, my car is in radio mode, so anything coming over bluetooth audio wouldn't be played on the car speakers).
Anyway, I found that on my phone, if I go into the specific bluetooth connection (in my case, titled "Toyota Highlander") and tap the gear next to it representing settings, and toggle off the "Media audio" option (while keeping phne calls, contact sharing, and text messages enabled), then the navigation voice stays on the speaker.
This isn't ideal since now and then I like to stream audio to the bluetooth audio of the car, but MOST of the time I just use the radio, and for now it makes sense to settle for nav voice working and if I want to stream audio, manually enable it in settings.

Great minds think alike. I was posting exactly this just as you were posting it!!
I saw on another forum that it is working on Android 13 DP1. When beta rolls around, I guess I'll try it, unless google fixes Android 12.
I received an update to Android 12 today that I believe is the same as 12.1 and preliminary tests show that this issue has been fixed.

Which update was this? I've not received anything yet...
I have the 4a 5g and received 12.1 or 12L. Your 6 should receive it soon.
