[Q] Android Dev Vs Original Android Dev threads?? - HTC One X+

Whats the difference between the One X+ Android Development and the One X+ Original Android Development threads? I had a look but cant see anything which explains it.

Android development is for developers to post custom OEM software like roms based on sence.
Original Android Development is for devs to post projects built from source. Like Asop/Akop/Cyanogen/custom CWM & TWRP recoveries and custom kernels.

Nathan, check your pm please.

Moved to general until there's a rom base, from which to develop. Until then it's not development, it's hoping to develop.
Why I Created This Thread and belive that it is considered a development thread!
I created it so that developers can ask other developers if they aprove of certain changes. So would anyone like to help?
Just wanted to say that,
I added to branchs to the Git Server one for the ICS Build and one for the GingerBread Build

It will work on every phone through a common kernel that is changed by the setup script for the Rom and changes to a kernel optimized for the device it sets up carrier, kernel, device type, network type, etc as well as standard setup. But I will only be developing the script and the kernel for HTC EVO 3D CDMA VM the rest will have to be designed by developers who have the phone but I'm am still doing my research on how to do this. The project is on GitHub!
So what devs are a part of this "project"? Because honestly all I see is you and nothing posted in github. So what exactly are you trying to do?
Just curious
Get people to develop it but stoped becaused found something i know how ti do. I started my own forums android-developers.forumatic.com and please mods this is just me saying that im too busy with other project not an advert

What's different between Android development and Original Development?

As we know
There 2 sections
Android Development and
Original Android Development in S3 forum
Can't figure out what's different.
First I thought one is for AOSP /CM, other is for stock based ROM but I saw both AOSP/CM and stock based RON in both sections, so I really don't understand what's different about them...

Imho these titles are a bit confusing.
What is original development?
Samsung Stock development can be called original cause it's the original firmware.
But AOSP based development can also be called original development because well Google's code is original.
It seems the latter is used for XDA and topics often get created in the wrong forum, and then moved to the correct forum (sometimes way to late).

Original= built from source
Normal dev= modifying existing Rom or software

[Q] CM10.1 Support present ?

HI guys I am user and developer from Sony2011 forums.
I was going to buy a Desire X today but then decided to check for it support on xda.
As i love to use PA or PAC-man. I wanted to ask does this device has CM10.1 support ?
I was unable to locate the sources at Cyanogen's github.
If not whats the last Cyanogen version that this phone got ?
Also is the kernel source by HTC released for this device ?
I hope some one answers my questions soon.
I am getting this phone at quite cheap price. So I am tempted to buy it.
quick view on the forum would tell you, that cm isnt officialy there sofar (need s-off for that, could take some time, or not, dunno), sources for phone are released at htcdev.com

1) A great developer we have here, TheAndroidManual, was able to boot PA in his Desire X so I guess soon we will have it available (his gonna upload a video tomorrow).
2) Another great developer, atis112, released 2 alpha builds of CM9 but he stopped his work because some countries already have 4.1.1 available and he's waiting for HTC to release the kernel source so he can work in CM10.
3) Yes, for ICS there's kernel source available in here: http://www.htcdev.com/devcenter/downloads
Meanwhile, in my opinion, this is a great device, well built and with a amazing display so I'd recommend you to buy it!
Have a great day
So this device isn't officially supported by CM.
Is the soff available ??
I will search more on it as I have never owned a HTC before so don't know what actually soff means
If some one knows a proper page explaining it plz provide links.
If I buy this device I will try my best to get the CM10.1 and PA and PAC to this device.
Its my exmas days so don't have much time to go through the whole forum that's the reason I posted this.
Thanks for your replies guys

First of all, no this device doesn't have those fancy roms cuz our dev community is small. But still many people are working on them and you may find them anytime.
Well, we dont have cm10.1 support cuz the device tree's are not present. Already atis is working on it.
CM9 is the most stable we have.
Yes kernel sources are released for 3.0 kernel but 3.4 sources are pending.
My say, buy it.

[Q] Rom Development for T-Mobile Prism 2(U8686)?

I've been looking around to see if I can find any roms but have only found flashable stock and stock with no carrierID(which i'm on). There was one major thread i found here on XDA that had to deal with development for this phone but it looks as if its been abandoned.(It started as a thread just introducing CWM to the device but it broke into a discussion on development of KitKat). Here's the link to the thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2616299 ...........On that thread a (beginning)developer posted a MEGA link that included some device files. Here's that: https://mega.co.nz/#F!QdcSmZoY!sdjlIrp0Q2VlDdYB2CGTMw ...................... They also said that you could use this repository(link below) for development due to the phone also being a Huawei msm7x27a device. Here is the link to the github repository: https://github.com/Dazzozo/android_device_huawei_msm7x27a-common ............................... So........that's all ive found out so far about rom development for this device. If someone with developing experience can guide me and deal with my noob ways then i will be happy to develop KitKat for this device as it is wanted by me and many others.

Android 7.0 build question

I have been doing some research on XDA and some other sites to see what would be required to put android 7.0 on a nexus one.
I know, that sounds crazy, but I wanted to challenge myself and try to do something I should do more often - android development.
I have been sifting through the other nexus one ports and the builds and ports for the 2 phones similar to the nexus one, the HTC HD2 and HTC desire.
So far, It seems some developers have been successful in getting android 6 working on the HD2 and desire. I figured I would try to do so on the nexus one, seeing as it has identical hardware in a lot of respects.
I am wondering if my approach is on target. To get this to work, I think I would need:
-custom hboot to allow for booting off sd card for OS (internal memory too small for android 7, even if slimmed down)
-custom partitioning of sd card
-custom rom built from android 7 and nexus one hardware drivers
-porting of linux kernel from HD2 to nexus one
-boatload of debugging
-compile rom and kernel into one zip installation package
Is there anything else I am missing? I apologize if I am using the wrong terminology, I have only been doing this for a few days (but have been rooting and installing roms for years).
I figured it was my turn to dig a bit deeper and try development myself.
If anyone has any input, I would be all ears. thanks a bunch!
mods: If this post is in the wrong thread (or you think it should be pushed to nexus one thread), feel free to push it anywhere that makes sense. thanks!
I did some more research and I think It will make most sense to port the 3.0.101 kernel from the HD2 and then build the rom
I am going to try android 4.4.4 rom with the 3.0.101 kernel to see how that goes first.
The main questions now:
-am I going to need a new version of TWRP for the new 3.0.101 kernel, or can I get away with TWRP 2.6.0.0 recovery?
-will I need to make a new version of blackrose / hboot because of android 6.0 / 7.0 / new kernel?
thanks for any input!
