Main problems I had when trying to deodex XWKL1 with dsixda:
Voice Search, Maps, and Phonesky (the new name for the Market APK) would not deodex. This was solvable by:
Pulling VoiceSearch.apk from XXKI3
Pulling the updated Market APK from a working device and replacing Phonesky.apk with it
I didn't bother with Maps because it can be installed from the Market
The remaining issue I have:
On my device, when I press the Back button to exit from video playback, the video player hangs instead of exiting. It seems to be specific to my attempt at deodexing with dsixda.
Edit - Two major issues with your post:
1) You should state the base in the thread title
2) Your release is broken - you didn't bother to rectify the failure of the Market APK to deodex, and as a result, there is no Market in it.
However video playback is working, so it's time to figure out why that isn't working on my own deodexed device.
thx for the f/back, need to wait for market fix first b4 using this

One bug got to be known today is that Phonesky.apk (Market) failed to deodex and it is not included in the ROM. However, you can install market manually. See attached file.

Could anyone please provide me the CWM updater script found in this deodexed rom?
Thanks in advance.
Hi,
I'm posting this question here in the hopes that someone will be kind enough to help me since I don't have the post count to post in the development section.
I installed the omega ROM and really like it but I need the Email.apk that is not included in this ROM. When I copy the Email.apk from other 2.3.6 stock based ROMs the app constantly FCs. Does anybody have an Email.apk and/or Email.odex that will work with this ROM.
Thanks for your help.
Cheers!!
Should i suggest a thing?
First backup your system.then go flash any rom which has that that email.apk.
Then open titanihm backup and backup the email app. Then go to cwm recovery and restore omega rom and then restore the app again via titanium backup. This shud work
. If it doesnt work then tell me. I will upload the email apk.

Thanks for your response. I tried your suggestion but it still FCs as soon as the phone powers up.
I think it's because the omega rom is odexed and all the 2.3.6 based roms that I have are deodexed.
When I look at the /system/app directory all system apps have an .apk and a corresponding .odex file of each application.
If you have a 2.3.6 odex version of Email.apk I would really appreciate it if you could upload it.
Thanks for your help!!

Help Building a CUSTOM(from STOCK ROM)
Newbie here---
- I have downloaded the HTC stock RUU for my device.
- I used Android Kitchen cygwin to extract the files, setup the working folder.
- Added root permissions,BusyBox
- Built the rom from working folder.
Wanted to test whether this works or not... But Phone Got stuck on HTC logo .. Not even BOOTANIMATION.
What did i miss or DO wrong here??
Where in these steps worked flawlessly when i took a custom rom? What else should be done here?? Help would be Appreciated!!!

My Answer is for kagouro - Becouse i Don't see your post when I write.
If Your Phone is dedected in adb you can use logcat (adb logcat in windows cmd) if phone don't dedected in adb - flash recovery via fastboot, join in recovery , instal working rom and found bad files in rom (try add modyfication singly - first root, second busybox etc - in this metod you can see whad mod don't work - probably stupid method but work :cyclops

Kitchen will replace certain necessary parts of your ROM if it isn't compatible with the kitchen, it puts them back when you compile. When you compiled your ROM did you take the guided option? Also, and probably the first thing I should have asked, is your phone compatible with kitchen?

By the looks of it, it's just a demo
To flash a ROM, go to its thread, download it(it won't be 5 mb, it would be probably bigger than 100 mb or around it) and follow the instructions on how to flash it.

Then you need to modify Aroma-Config (Uses C as language) and updater-script to make the package behave as you want.
If you don't want options in Aroma, just a simple installer of ROM
Then, follow this guide

No problem, just busy right now so sorry if it takes a bit to answer.
Right now all you did was swap updater scripts, you need to edit your aroma-config to have it select what you want.
If you need some help with it I'll be home in maybe 5hours and can lend a hand then, in the meantime take a look at some of my (or others) aroma packaged and see how they matched aromaconfigs to updater scripts

Can you tell me how you did it?
Now, how I can put different options? For example, if someone installs my ROM I would like them to choose what kernel or app they want to install or not. How can I do that and where I must place the .apk files (for the apps) or the .zip files (for the kernels)?
Thank you again!!!
I'm seeing that the installer does not install the ROM, how I can do that?

all i did was fix aroma, you need to put the files in the proper place, as in open root folder, there should be two inside (more if needed for other purposes) meta-inf and system, put all rom info organized properly in system and then flash
you can always save aroma logs if you have questions
and yes i can help you add kernel choices and such but i need to know what all options you need or want

You shouldn't have to edit any script, just take your system folder and meta-inf (and anything else needed) zip them up and sign, when you flash in aroma be sure to save logs so you can check it later for errors

How can I create the proper folder names for each app? Android creates special names, like "com.buak.Link2SD-1" to add other data. When app updates, it automatically creates a folder and the name of the apk turns to "base.apk".
