i have used uot on my other 2 phones with no issues even with odexed roms
i want a simple battery mod (version s, big sense) for now
i uploaded the proper files but it wont flash. so
which update binary should I use. I always used the type mtd default but I never had twrp before
suggestions
am I using the wrong update binary
should I just push them manually
do I need to delete the odex ( i didnt have to do this before)

pushing the files manually made no difference even though I checked the framework and it was fixed
renaming the framework-res.odex and framework-res.jar made the phone not boot i fixed tha tin fwrp filemanager (a great recovery by the way. I could not remount system in adb at the time)

Help uninstalling Blue_Overglow.zip + framework-res.apk

Hey all.
Been searching XDA and Google for anything on the original framework-res.apk file for the EVO3D.
I dont know what happened but after I flashed this zip from recovery, I rebooted and only see the top status/battery/timebar. NOTHING ELSE. Power button activates screen only...no lockscreen, just black screen and top bar.
Can anyone lend a hand and help me figure out if this can be reversed or uninstalled? Phone works....just cant see the screen to take calls.
Much thanx in advance.
Just download the stock ROM on your computer and pull the original apk from it. Or download the ROM you fiddled with, and pull its apk from there. You can also just try reinstalling the ROM. Or reflash it over. Just clear cache and Dalvik, then flash.
Oh and post this is Q&A next time, or the hall monitors will come and give you a ticket. Oh, and I forgot to mention a tongue lashing.
I also forgot to mention to be aware of the troll patrols. They'll troll you alive!

Thanx. Im downloading the stock rooted rom now.
The only reason I posted here was that the zip was a battery modification that for the life of me, I cant seem to remember where I got it from. Considering that it was a mod, I figured it would make sense in Themes and Apps...also figuring in that if someone who had used it as well would have knowledge of uninstall/removal.
Download's done. Will let u know if it worked. Thanx again DDiaz007!

I understand that DD. I don't plan on doing a clean install. After all, I do have a backup from about a week ago that I could restore in Clockwork as a last resort. But seeing as I have done some installs and the backup is a week old, I wanted to see if this zip can be uninstalled. I found out its from Team Xron and I downloaded it on 7/20, 5 days after I got my 3D.
My confusion gets worse now that I see that when I flashed the zip, (its contents included below) it had a META-INF file besides the .apk file. And comparing the 2 META-INF files from here and the stock Rom...they differ in size, and contents. The stock ROM META-INF does not include the RSA, SF, & MF file as does the Mod zip. Also the binary and script files differ in size.
How would u suggest going about changing it back? Should I put the .apk on my sd and push it using ADB? OR create a zip with the Stock .apk and META-INF and flash it in Clockwork Recovery as I did initially?
META-INF / CERT.RSA RSA File 1.7 KB
META-INF / CERT.SF SF File 382 bytes
META-INF / MANIFEST.MF MF File 329 bytes
META-INF / com / google / android / update-binary File 249.9 KB
META-INF / com / google / android / updater-script File 196 bytes
framework / framework-res.apk APK File 3.0 MB
creating a zip with the Stock .apk and META-INF and flash it in Clockwork Recovery was unsuccessful.

"installing kernal...
assert failed: package_extract_file("boot.img. "/tmp/boot.img")
E: error in /sdcard/download/xxx.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted."
Although I backed up in CWM....think im just gonna restore back to last week. If i get a wild hair and some good tech support from Xron, I might flash back and troubleshoot again. Oh well....

I flashed a battery mod from Xron and the screen was black all for notification bar on top. Trying to "undo" that. Ive extracted the framework-res.apk and the Meta-Inf folder from the stock rom and tried flashing. Not recognizable in CWM Rec. I used the original signed .zip and replaced the contents and the results are in my last post. What else can be done?

That updater script is trying to install more than what you have in the zip. Your best bet would be to push through adb
Enter-
Adb push (your framework-res.apk) /system/app/
No parenthancies

Fancy brick anyone?? has sliding keyboard..

today i deodexed my /system/app/ and /system/framework/ successfully.
used root explorer to copy and paste the framework directory in place.
before i could do the same for the app directory - multiple errors resulting in a reboot to a bootloop
i have tried for a few hours now to create a update.zip with the odexed files to return to a working environment.. what i get on the screen is.. installing update.zip.. installation aborted... no errors or anything. (this is with the stock samsung recovery)
i do have a copy of the the original odexed files and the deodexed files.
clockwork recovery isnt supported for this phone yet so i can't go that route
i can't adb push the files because i need to grant adb superuser permissions from the phone.
so basically i have a nice fancy brick with a rotating droid animation on the screen.
the phone is a Samsung Gravity Smart SGH-T589
any suggestions?
btw - the firmware hasn't been released yet for this phone or i'd attempt a fix with odin.
Last I checked you may have to go a custom route to install a custom recovery. That step is always the weirdest, and it's never been the same for any of my phones. Especially if the phone isn't going to start up the conventional way...
Here are two places with more information that I found, maybe you didn't.

hey thanks guy
i actually started both those threads a while back =)
i'm making progress with my update.zip
got it to install finally but still bootlooping

Edit updater-script

Hi!
I've got a problem.
I have the Huawei G740 which is in bootloop now and the only solution for me is to flash an old update.zip
The problem is that, the updater-script is looking after things that you modified in /system.
Well,after I edit the updater-script,how can I put it back ?
After puting it normaly(with winrar) the recovery won't flash it..(it says: OTA update, finding update, opening, verifying update, instalation aborted)
Can someone help me please?
I want to make the updater to not look after the systemui.apk(and odex) (but to replace it with the new one ) ,gallery2.apk+odex,HwThemeManager,apk+odex, framework-res.apk+framework-res-hwext.apk+the odex .if i just remove the checks it wont work..

Flashing Issues | Will not pass Android Logo on XtreStolite ROM

Flashing Issues | Will not pass Android Logo
I have have the T-Mobile version of the S5 and it is currently running XtreStolite rom on lollipop. I have been messing around with the SystemUI and framework apks. (getting them to work every now and again)
However, I was searching around and tried to push the apk files through adb at first, instead of a complete reflash with the modified apks inside, with no luck. Adb says that the files were successfully sent but are not there and no changes are made. I then stumbled across a method using a flashable zip that is supposed to just replace the files I need.
I n doing so, after reboot the phone just sits at the Android Logo on powerup, them I have to reflash or restore my recovery. My question is this: Is there a method that allows me to setup a flashable zip with the system/priv-app/systemui/systemui.apk so that it will only replace those files and not the whole system folder itself?
There may be some more information that I am leaving out, sorry I have not slept all night and I am about to go to class.
Thanks in advance, if I have posted incorrectly, please advise.

Extract and Add whatever directories/folders you want inside the system folder and flash. The script just extracts the system folder as a whole so as long as you make the correct folders, file names, directories etc it'll flash everything to the right spot.
Delete the jar file out of system/framework/ tho since it's a 5.1.1 jar file I did
Much obliged sir, worked perfectly. I'm sure it was the coding. [emoji2]

[HELP] framework.jar changes on Nougat - post rom installation

Hello,
I'm using nougat custom rom on my device, (CM/LOS based ) - i.e it is already installed.
I wish to edit the framework.jar internal dex files - AFTER/POST installation of the rom.
I know I can & how to edit the dex & jar, I already made it.
note: I wish to make those change POST rom compiling, since i'm not a rom dev nor know how to compile a rom ( nor need/want to waste time to know how ).
i.e the changes I want to make are to bin/compiled framework.jar that is already installed on the phone.
My problem is that after I replace the orig framework.jar (/system/framework/framework.jar) with the modded one, I get bootloop with errors like:
Code:
Failed to open dex file from oat file. File: /system/framework/framework.jar:classes2.dex Error: Failure to verify dex file '/system/framework/framework.jar:classes2.dex': Bad checksum (0c7053f1, expected 282a531b)
Code:
Could not create image space with image file '/system/framework/boot.art'.
Attempting to fall back to imageless running.
Error was:
Failed to generate image '/data/dalvik-cache/arm/[email protected]@boot.art':
Failed execv(/system/bin/dex2oat --image=/data/dalvik-cache/arm/[email protected]@boot.art --dex-file=/system/framework/core-oj.jar --dex-file=/system/framework/core-libart.jar --dex-file=/system/framework/conscrypt.jar --dex-file=/system/framework/okhttp.jar --dex-file=/system/framework/core-junit.jar --dex-file=/system/framework/bouncycastle.jar --dex-file=/system/framework/ext.jar --dex-file=/system/framework/framework.jar --dex-file=/system/framework/telephony-common.jar --dex-file=/system/framework/voip-common.jar --dex-file=/system/framework/ims-common.jar --dex-file=/system/framework/apache-xml.jar --dex-file=/system/framework/org.apache.http.legacy.boot.jar --dex-file=/system/framework/telephony-ext.jar --dex-file=/system/framework/org.dirtyunicorns.utils.jar --dex-file=/system/framework/telephon
Attempted image: /system/framework/boot.art
after I upload the modded jar I made sure it got 644 permissions & I wipe dalvik&cache from recovery.
I even tried the above + wiping "/data/dalvik-cache/arm/[email protected]@boot.art" - but still got bootloop...
I know i'm really close to success... but I know i'm missing something...
I think that [email protected]@boot.art isn't "regenerate" when I wipe dalvik&cache or when I wipe it manually.
I think also it have something to do with build.prop values like "dalvik.vm.dexopt-data-only=1" or "dalvik.vm.dexopt-flags=m=v,o=y"
if I could only bypass the checksum... everything I guess would work.
I hope someone can help me ( or tell me which sub-forum in xda can help me with this Q ).\
edit:
I understand now that because I hex edit the classes.dex of framework.jar I get that "checksum error" because I should *somehow* "re-calculate" the checksum for that dex file.
I wonder how to do that, without decompiling &recompiling the dex.... anyone ?
I'll appreciate any help,
Thanks.
