Hi!
Since a few month my WiFi does not work properly. When I activate it, it automatically connects to the access point. But after 3 minutes, the connection stops working. The WiFi symbol in the status bar disappears and 3g starts working. When i disable and reenable wifi everything works fine again for 3 minutes. I already tried a static IP. Other devices (laptop) have no problems with the same network. Any solutions?
Which device are you using?? I have the same problem when i connect to a WIFI network it works for sometime like 2 to 3 min.. then after no data transfer. but in my case it does not get disconnected from the WIFI network.. I am usin samsung galaxy S DUOS.
Even i posted a question here yeterday in the same section.. still nobody replied on it yet..:silly::silly:
Oh totally forgot that. I own a rootet SGS+ (i9001) on android 2.3.6. But I don't think it's device dependend because when I got it everything worked fine.

Hi i went from stock ics on my ray to cm9 by followingnexact step by step guide provided by cm9. Used their kernel as well. Have never modded my phone before. Having a small problem with wifi though. After my phone has been asleep for a while, if i wake it up the wifi icon in status bar is no longer blue its a dark grey and i can no longer browse anything or use the internet. Ive tried rebooting. I did the whole wipe cache etc when installing cm9. In wifi settings in advanced ive also left the setting to "leave wifi on when sleep" checked. If i turn off and on the wifi connection the phone ofcourse is able to reconnect again the icon is blue and i can connect. It not jsut a one off thing its been happening since i isntalled the rom.
If i wakek from sleep a few minutes later i have no issue with wifi. Its only when its been sleep for a while do i have this issue.
Any solutions?
I have the exact same problem but for me it's even bigger, whenever i turn on wifi on my modem, i can connect to internet on my phone, but after awhile i lose my connection completely, on my phone and on my pc also, the only way to get it back is to reset my router and wait for like 5-10minutes...

If its also an issue with your. Pc then your issue might be also the router.
My other devices actually work fine in my case its oky this phone that has issues. Macbook iphone ipad nexus s no problems with those.
Same issue here. I can see available networks but unable to connect. There should be no problem with the wifi router as all my other devices work well and I have tried another router. Now I have to flash back to stock firmware.

Your issue seems more severe than mine. Mine actually connects and works, just that when it wakes from long sleep it wont work until i turn off and on wifi.
I get this problem too, but my problem even worse than yours. My wifi lose it's connection after a while, but the icon on status bar shows it's connected, running ping test, browse, even play store can't be accessed. I pinged the router and got unreachable.
And yeah, this problem occurs when I'm using all ICS based rom..
Anybody has any idea if this is a known problem, or if its just us few having thisissue?

I have same problem. I have SE xperia mini with CM9. WiFi worked fine until yesterday. Now phone can't connect to AP (full signal - try connect -> signal drops down), but sharing 3G internet over WiFi works fine. I cleared dalvik cache, but that didn't help.
is anyone having a problem with the wifi after updating to jellybean for s3?
inital connection to WIFI works but after a certain period of time, the wifi stopped working and i need to restart the wifi again for internet to load. IT happens all the time now after leaving my phone with WIFI on.
Constant restarting WIFI to get connection does not happen in ICS..

No such problem for me with JB LJ5 stock or custom!!!
Might be your modem-router....
This happens to me too. It's fine for me at work, but when I'm at home the wifi fails to connect after some time. Are you using dd-wrt at home? I am and I'm wondering if that's the issue.

I find that having my wifi set to always on in advanced I get better wifi and slow drain, having it on wifi off while asleep makes your wifi keep disconnecting and reconnecting. Best way is to switch wifi off when you don't need it.
Also some battery saving apps I've found to stop wifi and need to keep reconnecting, this has to be changed in the settings
wi fi dropped

Hi, Mine is Galaxy Note 2 i317 with Jelly Bean 4.1.1. I did have similar issue. I took two smart phones to Target, one is ICS 4.0.3 and the Note 2 is 4.1.1.
The 4.0.3 never has any issues with wi fi connection. But the Note 2 keeps on dropping the connection. I ran an application wifi analyzer to check the available networks. It turns out that Target has so many routers that are using the same ssid, i.e. "Target Guest Wi-Fi". There are channel 1, 6, 11, etc, as well as many 5Gs. I did an alias for every available connection. Then I pick one of the stronger signal strength 5G and connected to it.
After that no connection was dropped.
The point is that you should try to connect to the strongest signal SSID so that the Note 2 won't keep on dropping the weak connection.
I have no idea why the ICS 4.0.3 can handle better than the 4.1.1 Jelly Bean as far as wifi is concerned.

I'm experiencing the same problem since updating to Jelly Bean 4.1.1 on my HTC ONE X. So it seems to be an Android issue, not specific to Samsung or HTC.
I connect to my home network over WIFI, everything works fine until after a little while my apps seem unable to connect to any data/internet. They just time out or come up with error messages about connection problems.
Sure enough, if I disconnect and reconnect to WIFI, everything starts working again... for a little while.
It's like the WIFI goes to sleep, but forgets to wake-up again.
And there is no indication on the phone, ie. it still shows as connected.

I echo that? It's 3 months later... has anyone figure anything out in regards to this issue?
Mine shipped with JB already. Sometimes, when reboot, it doesn't connect to my WIFI network, unless i disable WIGI connection and re-enable it...

Hi guys,
so here is my problem, i have Xperia Z2 with 5.0.2 Android.
Everything worked fine for few months wifi connected automatically to my home network, but yesterday it stopped working. It connects for maybe 5 seconds and then disconnects. When i try to connect i need add password and then it connects for few seconds and disconnects again.
I had the same problem with my old router few months ago. Phone was connecting without any problems for months and then one day it stopped.
It was some old TPLink model, now i have TP Link W8790. The same scenario after few weeks ;(
I havent changed anything in modem settings, the same with phone.
Any other devices like my 3 laptops, and 2 other phones have no problem with connection.
My xperia connects to other networks without any problems.
I was looking for solutions everywhere.
I ve done all resetting device, changing modem settings etc.
Could You please help me with this one?
Which secruity has your Wifi? Did you try changing the password?
Yup, i've done everyting with my router, with reset and change passwords. Encryption is set to WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK. I discovered today that my phone disconnects with my friend's network as well, but it worked fine few days ago. In fact i remember that I connected with that network and then when I came home, my phone started to disconnects from my network. Both are 2.4Ghz networks. It must be phone issue . It works on 5Ghz with network in my work... but at the same time it cant be 2,4 issue since i connected to AP which my friend created from his phone.. thats crazy. Is there any possibility to reset wifi card on mobile?
Did u try a factory reset on your phone? Did you OTA-Update from your provider or flashed a FTF for 5.0.2
I havent tried to restore fabric setting, I dont think its a solution, because it stopped working one day ( few days after i paired my device with sony wristband swr10, i dont know if it matters) and then after 2 months not working, i changed my router.. worked for 1 month and now the same problem with new router Update came from provider.
Hi everyone,
6 month ago I baught a Galaxy S3 for my girlfriend and flashed CM11 M12 on it right on the first day. About a month ago the wifi stopped working. That means not only that the device won't connect to wifi networks but the wifi would not even switch on in the first place.
When I go to the settings and click on the switch for the wifi it says "on" but won't show any connections and switches back to "off" after a few seconds.
So I wiped the phone and flashed some different roms (CM10, CM11) but none of those would help either. When I want to activate the device it does not show any wifi connections.
Then I entered the test code *#*#4636#*#* in the dialer app. But there it only shows that wifi is disabled. So that does not help me either.
Do you have any requests?
i got the same problem together with hotspot.
already search the net, and found out it happen after the android version 4.3 upgrade
i still cant find any solution at this time
It's kind of a weird problem i bought the phone used and it worked fine and installed a rom cyanogen 13 btw, after 3 days of using it the phone can only connect to 1 router and if i am 2 feet away from it the phone doesn't disconnect but the internet isn't working, and no it's not my router because other devices work are connected to it and they work fine, the Samsung Galaxy S3 even denies a open hotspot and says sometimes says authentication error and it doesn't even have a password!!
any fix for this ?
thx
