Hello everyone, this is not utterly important but I was wondering if anyone else have this bug, let me explain :
It's random but happens almost everytime. When i plug or unplug the phone for battery charging, the clock screen pops up (not the one for alarm settings, the other one which is pretty much like the unlock screen). From that precise moment, loud speaker activates automatically for any call I make or receive... rebooting the phone fixes it so it's no big deal... yet i'm curious, can anyone confirm or is it just me ?
Happens with any Cm9 or Cm10 I think, well... in my case at least. Thought it could be related to the broken offline charging thing in Cm9 and later versions but i dunno.

Strange issue.. never occurred to me with any gb or ics rom!!
Must be hardware related then. Tried most of the roms and kernels I found on this forum since lupohirp's first ics build. Thanks anyway, not a big issue.

Use a proper stable recovery.. wipe everything except sdcard. Everything. Then try flashing a new rom.
Same thing with Cwm and Amonra. Now using Twr and no changes. Not sure if I repartitioned my sd since the first time I encountered this issue but I don't think it could be related to this. Of course I wipe cache, dalvik and system partition everytime I flash a new rom and I wipe data as well most of the time. Thanks anyway
Never to me. I think the blame is you kernel!
cm-9.1.4-GENETICS
Try this rom cm-9.1.4-GENETICS-HEPHAPPY-p500

This is the best CM9 ROM ever.

Can be the reason. Remove partitions.. format your complete sdcard in fat32.
Even if you dont have partitions.. do it.
Were you using any app2sd type script??

Ok so I so I have suffered from authentication errors and ridiculously poor WiFi range since I rooted my phone. Or most probably since I flashed a custom Rom (omega) for the first time..
Now, after endless research and lots of trial and error (or as I say, terror) I have finally found a solution. Although this is NOT and ideal solution, it solved my problem. Not being able to use WiFi at work when I'm only around 7 meters from the server is an absolute no no for me! Especially twinned with the frustration of 30 attempts to authenticate and still having 70 odd % signal and yet no connectivity.
So here goes..
For me.. disabling power saving mode via *#0011# did NOT work.
Nor did flashing back to stock without root.
Flashing cm9 did NOT work.
Flashing stock did Not work. And full cwm wipe didn't work either. And all other combinations.
So by hard work, research into other threads, Lots of terror and pure luck. I fixed my problem.
Apologies if this does not work for you.. but if u Have simular problems to me. I'm sure it will work. So follow these steps
1. back up via android. Copy backup to pc if u try this and it doesn't work u cant go back to before. Also backup and apps or pics music etc to pc.
2. Download latest stock Rom with root
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1704185
Thanks to wanam!
3. full Wipe, wipe cache partition, wipe dalvik cache. Flash latest wanam stock Rom. And repeat the wiping in recovery again. Full, cache and dalvik. Fix permissions.
4. Now reboot. And test if u still have the problem. As I did still. If not... yay you!
5. Do a hard reset. Yes a factory reset. NOT a full wipe via recovery. A reset via settings/backup and wipe/factory personal data reset. WARNING by doing this you will lose all app settings. All android backups and all data on internal storage. I believe this will also leave your ext sd contents unusable so ALWAYS backup to pc!
6. Repeat steps 3 and 4 again. This made my WiFi range and connectivity problems
Disappear! Although I still had authentication errors
7.Then repeat step 5 and see your outcome. It's seems for me atleast, that a double wipe was necessary. I'm not sure about you guys.
I hope this works for you all!
Thank me if it did or If I've helped in anyway!
Happy to answer questions! Noob or not.
Thanks to JJE and d4seeker for there effort in trying to help me!

I have an old Galaxy S and I run Wifi Analyzer on both (CM9.1 on S and CF rooted stock JB on S III) and boy.... there are more available networks
on S then on new brand super-duper flagship. Is my new phone faulty?
I am seriously pissed.
i have tried the above methods in vain -.- still not resolved
-------------------
what causes this problem anyway? it just all happened randomly
Has anyone found a fix for this yet???
I'm pretty convinced this is to do with router settings personally, but I don't know much about them so.....
The settings for my wifi were already in there from when I was on ACE 4.2.5. I wiped cache, dalvik cache AND did a factory reset. The settings were still there. They are the same settings that worked before. Also, I went to client's offices that have wifi and I got the same problem there too. If it's something to do with the routers, I know a lot of routers that all of the sudden have issues that didn't before THIS ROM update...
Finally fixed my error on the 4th Step.
I though I would never made it , but I did
I had the authentication Wi-Fi error.
Thanks for the Guide.
(I used Omega ROM 50.1 v for this Guide quite same as the Wanam ROM.)
First Let me say everything Here is all my personal Opinion and by just rooting phones and installing mod I already sorta voided my warranty. Okay Lets start, A few months when the ICS bug was Hot Like fish grease my phone's USB was corroded and would not charge. I went to a ATT Repair center and Got a new one/refurbish one and I notice that it didn't have much under the battery All it said was the Model number IME barcode and the "MADE IN CHINA" Letters.
I came home and the first thing I did was root install GB custom rom. I decided to wait for CM9 to taste ICS. After it was On nightly I install like any other installation and then move on to AOKP Rom from task, That rom has the feature that lets you change the text where you carrier label is. And I change which was fine. I went back to CM9 and that text Remain there and I did wipe/data like it said in the instructions, When I updated to the latest nightly I use Rom manager and booted into CMW (noob mistake) I wasn't paying attention and I got a soft brick. phone booted and showed SAMSUNG GALAXY SII but then just turn off and on buttons on bottom lit up like when you put your phone into download mode. I pull battery Use method to return to stock/root Using Odin Which if I'm correct it would have increase my counter (Correct me if I'm wrong) phone work Install a kernel with CMW using terminal install CM9 And even when I did those steps the same text That I had use was still There.
I found that very Weird but I still left it I didn't care. When the Leak ATT ICS came out Entropy said something about Bricking your phone something to do with the eMMC chip or whatever, Anyways Fast forward to lastnight/today I wanted to start from scratch and install a Samsung base rom just for giggles. And to my surprise I wipe my SD card and tried to wipe my phone but in the whole process my phone lag and I guess I press the button to wipe so many times I pull battery and guess what happen?... I got a soft brick again, Okay spend 30 mins again to redo my regular soft brick steps and my media scanner, Gallery, Camera didn't work. I then again wipe the phone and loaded semi v16c UCLE5 att update and my phone work again I formatted my sd card and my gallery camera started working again. But again the Carrier text from The very first AOKP rom Was still there in the lock screen.'
I again wipe and soft brick but this time to test out if it really does happen when You wipe from phone. Which it did happen and again repeated my steps. I guess I would like entropy or someone with more knowledge than me help me answer these mind boggling questions.
1. Is it possible my phone is sorta unique of the soft brick/wipe phone routine?
2. I downloaded the app from chain fire that detects if your emmc chip is one of the unlucky ones who have the bug or whatever and I do have the chip
3.How is it possible That the carrier label text is still there after so many wipes and rom flashes
4. I pretty sure I have not done anything to the boot loaders unless the roms I flash has them (which I think they don't)
I hope I explain my situation good. Again this is not a rant or troll or a customer support tread I clearly Understand the dangers of flashing and rooting Thanks for reading
p.s remove the picture because apparently my screenshot is offensive
Well that was a mouthful. LOL.

1. You use rom manager
2. You use the factory reset in settings
3. You pull the battery in the middle of flashes
Why are you using Odin when you have cwm? Are you not making nandroids before flashing? Do you know how to boot to recovery from a boot loop?
I suggest you read a whole lot more about flashing and recovery before you do anymore. Because a lot of what you posted sounds like it could've been avoided had you followed any of the guides.post on xda

When using a custom ROM. If you are using what came with the phone or is updated officially via ATT then you may use it without issue.
OK . First, don't use rom manager. As already stated. And second, make sure to do FULL wipes between flashing different roms. This includes /system, data, cache, dalvik, and running the kernel cleaning script for good measure. That should always leave u with a fresh install.

Seems that recently the LEDs for the flash and what are also used for the flashlight are no longer operating on my husbands phone. I've tried wiping and reflashing JellyBlur v1.3 and trying various applications - but it seems that this doesn't help and that those LEDs just don't want to come on. Is there something that I can do to fix this or are they out for good?
I'm also running JellyBlur v1.3 on my phone and my flash/flashlight are working fine. While I'm waiting I'm going to try flashing another ROM to see if that solves the problem, but any tips or helpful posts are greatly appreciated. Thank You. :good:
Update It seems that switching ROMs didn't help it either. The flash still doesn't want to work nor does any flashlight application including stock. Not sure what happened, but hopefully someone can suggest a fix. (Could it be kernel or something similar related?)
- Tried reflashing JellyBlur v1.3 and Skyraider Zeus v1.3

Do you think flashing that might fix the flash issue? I've never encountered this problem before on our phones so it's new to me.
I would definitely make a backup of what you have now, do a good/clean wipe and install a nandroid backup from a different ROM in which the flash was working to see if the flash will work for you again.
If not, the flash may have just given up on you. =\
Note: Clear data 3x, cache once, and dalvik once. (I always recommend clearing data at least 3x because data doesn't always clear within the first or even second time around)

Good news. I was able to put ICS (Liquid Desensed36) and applied the new combo radio someone developed.
Using the Wi-Fi w/ root from play store using generic ics/jb (wlan0), channel 2, password protected, with router fix was able to fix his Wi-Fi tether.

I think that this is probably a software problem caused by entering a rom without properly clearing the cache partition and a simple reflash back to stock gingerbread should fix this problem. Best of luck!

Reflashing won't fix it. Unfortunately that is a pretty common problem (for me at least), and probably the only fix is some serious kernel modding.

I had this problem on stock gingerbread. but for me it would say it was plugged in when it wasnt. This occurred once on crumble, and has never happened on paranoid.
Alright, so I've been modding my phone and many others since the early days of the Captivate, so I'm pretty well versed in how all of this works. That being said, here's my problem:
My phone has become a bit of a whiny b*tch when it comes to flashing ROMs. I know every phone is unique and what works for some may not work for others. But ROMs that have always done well for me (for instance, Flappjaxxx's Unofficial has always ran flawlessly on my device) are now buggy as hell. MD5s are always verified, I fully wipe as instructed, I don't overclock... It just doesn't work right anymore. I get kernel panics and random reboots all the time.
Any insight as to just what the hell is going on with my device would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Cheers.

its been a while since I have seen a Flapp's rom on here..............
it may not have anything to do with it, but is that an unofficial 4.1 or 4.2 ?
is that the only rom?
I see your stats and know your experienced, but running a rom from Flapp tells me it may have been a little while. things have progressed quite a bit since then.
lets try this.............when was the last time you went into recovery and wiped you Davlik or Cache? could just be a little constipated.
Flapp is gone, his work only survives on his own site. I keep a copy of his ICS native ROM around because, so far, nothing has come close to being as snappy and stable. It's a sort of safe place that I always come back to. I could go weeks without rebooting and never bog down. I love it.
I still flash new works regularly, always with the necessary wipes. When I start getting buggy, I always try the usual go-to fixes. Wiping the caches, Fix Permissions, all that noise. At first, I just thought it was the rampant instability that comes with a new base. New base, new bugs. But for the last month or so, it makes no difference. ICS or JB, Native or AOSP... It's all unstable for me. Something is wrong somewhere. Something that doesn't change with wipes and a flash.
I'm just hoping that someone with a deep knowledge of Android has dealt with this and reads this post.

for what it is worth, I had some issues when 4.3 came out. was only 1 or 2 that I could run and seemed if I could run it, after about a week it would start going haywire. 2 roms would not run at all. I am not big on running an alternate kernel. the rom should run with the kernel the developer included. I posted a thread and others suggested wiping EMMC. that scared the crap out of me. my internal storage was very full. I was having to delete a file just to install another.
I moved all my music and pics to external and got rid of everything else. anything else was on Google.
I now have no more issues running whatever I want and have maybe had 2 ort 3 reboots in last month or more.
out of habit now, what I do after my multiple wipes is flash rom itself, then flash rom and gapps. let it settle for the 10 and reboot again. then set up. been a pretty solid routine
many out there still have have issues with 4.2, but I have heard of very very few reboot issues on 4.3.
good luck my friend
