Two unique devices showing as one in play store - TouchPad General

I have two HP Touchpads, 1 normal 32gb, 1 demo edition.
While both were running CM9 w/ working camera, they showed up as two different devices in the Play store.
After upgrading both to CM10, they only show as 1 device. Which ever one I updated last shows up in the store. I've tried using different JB based ROMs, and even running acme uninstaller - but it always comes back as just one device under devices.
However, I can access the play store and make purchases from both devices.
I have not tried rolling back to CM9 (since I didn't do a nandroid backup before moving to CM10 - yes I know... bad human, no biscuit), and would prefer to keep both on CM10. Any suggestions?

Editing the build.prop would probably be route to take. But I'm not 100% sure on which lines to edit or what to edit them to.

I'm certainly willing to try any changes recommended. Unfortunately, I don't know what lines to edit either

***comment deleted, may have been inaccurate***

I bit the bullet (and lost my data) and rolled both back to CM9 nightly. They both show properly in the play store. I'm at a loss as to why it works with CM9 and not with CM10.

OK, good news and bad news.
Good news - it's not specific to HP
Bad news - it's not specific to HP
I also have a B&N Nook tablet. After returning one TP to CM10, then also upgrading to the latest CM10 release for B&N Nook Tab (tried both sgt and hash's versions), both devices show as one in the play store. Which ever one registered last is the one that shows up.
I've reached out to google support, but I doubt I get any real help from them. This only appears to happen on CM10. CM9 works like a champ.

as expected, google support was less than helpful. I received a canned "you're devices aren't supported" response:
Thanks for writing back and for providing this information. I reviewed your devices and unfortunately right now, the Hp Touchpads and Nook aren’t supported for use with the Google Play Store app or with play.google.com, which is why you are expriencing all these issues.
So, back to square one. Any suggestions?

Until it gets "fixed" you might just need to create a new Google (gmail) account, that would suck for purchases though, just a thought.

I do have multiple google accounts, but only one with purchases. Unfortunately, I have a lot of purchases - so switching accounts isn't really an option.

I just wish I could get google support to tell what they see on their side. It really annoys me when tech support won't bother to look at any possible logs and uses the cheap "not supported" excuse.

[Q] Nook for Android and Honeycomb

Hey guys-
I don't think anyone has asked this one yet, and I can't find an answer in the Dev forums. I know that people had been getting the Nook app (the one from the market) to work with NookieFroyo, but has any had any success getting it to work with Honeycomb on the Nook? I tried installing it today after getting version 2 (which was posted this morning, I believe) to no avail.
I get to sign in and everything and I can even download books, and futz with the settings. But, when I go to read a book it either sits there loading forever, or just crashes outright. Has anyone had any success?
Peter
+1 same problem here.
I was about to post this same question. I believe I saw someone in the main honeycomb thread who said they got it working but I can't remember where or who it was. This is really the only thing keeping this from being a daily driver for me.
Same problem for me, but not only does the nook app just sit and spin, but 50% of the time, nook and kindle crash the device every time, and it reboots.

I'm in the same boat. I get a FC when it loads.
Using the 2a build.
It works for me just fine.
This is not antagonistic, but what advantages are there between the Nook and Kindle apps? I'm sure people have a preference, but I've never seen a need to move away from Kindle. (Supporting B&N is a good reason, I suppose.)

And just to be certain, you're on Honeycomb....and you've actually opened a book and gotten text (not just the table of contents)? I'd be very interested in what version of HC you're using. This would be my daily driver if I could get the nook app working. I appreciate any insight you have!

I have B&N nookbooks so that is why I would like to use this.
im on same bout also running nookhoney v3 get main screen get library and also download books but it hangs on opening book or get a FC. shop opens but havent tried to purchase anything yet.
For me, I use B&N and have friends that use B&N. We use the LendMe feature, which saves me some cash here and there. On the Kindle side, my wife lovers her Kindle, and I sync my Kindle app with her account, and we share books that way.
It's working!!!!
I am running v3 of deeper_blue's HC image and the Nook app works for me. Finally. And I am not sure how or why, it just started to work. I could get to my library before and I could download my book(s). But previously, I would try to open the book and it didn't seem to load, only the never ending circle.
The page loads, I can turn pages, bookmark them, close out, come back to the same page, go to the table of contents, skip to a chapter, etc.
I did change the screen to NOT auto-rotate. I was getting FCs when the screen would flip around between apps, so I shut it off. I am not sure if that helped, but that is one thing that is different now v. before.
(on the other subject: I like all the readers - B&N, kindle, and google books. They are all fine. I like the features that are offered by the NC for the B&N books the best, but they all work fine and read fine )
Great news. I also see that Honeycomb v04 was posted today and it specifically addresses problems with the nook and kindle apps. I'm really glad this is finally fixed. I read quite a bit and the lack of a nook app kept me from using HC as my daily driver.

The one thing I love on stock NC is the magazine reading experience...those the Nook app offer that?

Nook app definately works in HC v4.
But NO magainzes or newspapers in the app. Very disappointing.
Weird I MUCH prefer the app reader experience with the turning pages, etc. but the stock NC is the only thing I have seen let me access the newspapers and magazines
what about the nook color reader app
Is there any way to get the reading app that is on the internal memory to work with HC? Theat would be ideal and the NC would then be just about perfect!

Hi Peter,
Nook app on HC v4 works great for me. It syncs BN library pretty quickly as well.
I tried unmounting uSD before installing it (and several other apps giving FCs) and it worked. Now its my standard ePub reader again.
Good luck m8!

[Q] Android Nook App - anyone resurrect original version?

I'm happy with CM7 on the NC but the Nook Market app is a huge step backwards - it seems designed to frustrate tablet users. In addition to the tiny, unresponsive buttons, the online dictionary is useless when you don't have wifi. Strangely, the iphone Nook app is far more intuitive. This Android design manages to cancel out half the reason to own the thing. I know others have had the same complaints.
So here's the question. Has anyone been able to resurrect the stock Nook ereader software (along with its dictionary) and make it work on CM7? I don't want to go back to a simple rooted Nook or boot from an sd card. To be honest, if I didn't want working bluetooth so badly, I wouldn't have bothered jumping to CM7.
Apologies if this has come up elsewhere - it didn't appear in my search.
Any help would be appreciated.
I second this; I would love to see an actual usable android nook app.
I was just about to post the same thing here, so I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks the NOOK app for Android sucks. It's so bad that I would consider buying all my books through either Amazon or the store that Aldiko uses, because those apps are far superior. Everything about the NOOK app is bad, especially when you try highlighting words/phrases and you can't highlight exactly what you want (it jumps around). I want to support B&N because I love the original NOOK and NOOK Color, but their app is so poorly made.
If the NOOK app doesn't satisfy people here, which app/service have you gone with as a replacement?

I actually like the Nook app WAY better than the Kindle app. The Kindle app doesn't do the page flip animation that the Nook one does and it keeps your spot by position numbers not page numbers. Sorry, I would rather see I was on page 22 than position 715.
I do like the native Nook software better than the app though.
There was talk on this before froyo was supported on the NC. It's basically been dropped.
Here's the link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=976270
EDIT: Accidental thank to the OP...oh well.
What is everyone's thoughts about Google Books? I think it's pretty cool that it syncs your last read page in their "cloud," so it'll be at that spot either on your NC, your phone, or their website. The Android app itself has gotten bad reviews, but I kind of like it. Haven't purchased any books through it yet, but it looks promising.
Still not a big fan of the NOOK app.
The built in Nook Reader is the only reason I still run 1.2 rooted... now I have to find something for my Evo 3D.
I am okay with the app if I could just get the magazines to work. I can see the books, but I primarily like to view the magazines. Is anyone else having this issue? If I could get this fixed I would just stay running the CM7 off the sd card to not void my warranty. If not I might just install on EMMC.

I looked at Maxim real quick when B&N came out with the update that had magazines working. Worked fine for me. What problem are you having?
When I try to download a magazine it tells me that the file type is not supported. I have tried it with different magazines and I get the same error.

Which file type is it?
Is this a magazine bought from B&N? I'm subscribed to both Asimov's and Analog and they work great.
BTW, using an overclock kernel really helps the Nook app speed.
I finally blew away stock and installed to emmc after a few days running OC, makes things tolerable, but I really wish it would resume what I was reading when I open it.
It says it on most of the magazines, like Men's Fitness and GQ. I can run them off the stock but not off the app. I finally installed CM7 on the emmc and tried it then, but still not working. I tried moving it to the SD card to see if that may help, but nope.

Streaming Amazon Instant Video with app pulled from Fire

check out .apk someone pulled from Kindle Fire for streaming Amazon video.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19409230&postcount=10
I am running it on the flyer right now. (I'm on a 4g mifi right now so it is a little jerky, but I'll try at home later).
YOu have to choose a video like you are going to buy it, but then login to your account and it recognizes if you are a Prime member and lets you stream for free.
edit: Can't seem to find a way to pause, but it remembers your place.
Force closes for me. Running the latest honeycomb leak.
Works for me!
Installed and runs just fine on my Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0. UI elements on the main page are a little bunched up, but once you get to where you're going, it looks fine. Video is top notch, although you can't bring up the native REW/PLAY/FF controls - you have to back out and go back in to resume.
One thing about logging in - the only way I could figure out to login was to "purchase" something I knew was available to Prime folks and then login. It did not charge me, of course, and remembered my credentials.
It will be interesting to see if Amazon plugs this little jail break since it is a major selling point for the Fire, or opens the Prime membership up to android in general to capture Netflix refugees.
Force closes on my Archos honeycomb tablet as well.
I'll have to try this when I get home
dont work on root
Works great on my Flyer!
I had to pretend to buy something to login and then I went to the prime members section and streamed Lost.
Awesome awesome awesome!

Someone modified the netflix app to not do a device check. Could this be done to the Amazon streaming app?
I have an amazon prime account. It's worth it, just for the expedited shipping. Also cannot run the kindle app. Just gives an error message that says " Your device is no longer configured correctly to play Amazon video." If I try to buy the video after logging in, it says "An error occured."
My device is rooted and did try rootkeeper but did not make a difference. Going to the page directly does work with flash. Some videos are not Instant, even though they may be advertised as Instant. Would really like to get the amazon app working!
read above, need the ota program to disable root when you want to run it.
Got it to work! Had to kill the amazon program, run ota rootkeeper, then everything started. Good find friends
I'm hoping Amazon releases an app with official non-Fire support. Question is, do they make more money selling Fire's or building their overall customer base? They don't make money selling Fire's, so making the app available to entice more people into their ecosystem seems like a viable business plan.
I guess we'll see...
Jeff
Do you guys also have the problem that the video playback is sort of choppy no matter if it is an hd movie or a regular one. I was trying with a wifi connection and it streams fine on a kindle fire but it is really choppy on the flyer, still watchable but choppy.

You actually got this to work on a Nexus One with CyanogenMod?
I followed the steps on this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1352905
but when I try to watch an Amazon Instant Video (after entering my username and password) I get an error "Your device is no longer configured correctly to play Amazon videos."
OTA rootkeeper doesn't seem to do the trick, no matter if it's before the installation, etc.
Would anyone who got this to work care to outline the steps they followed? Exciting stuff.
How do you login with the app?

HEEELP!!! Play Music says I have too many devices

I just rooted my Rezound, s-off, Venom Rom. Installed play music logged in, but.when I went to play a track it said you are only allowed 10 devices registered. I haven't registered 10 devices, 7 show up on the play website, some duplicate. It will not let me remove any devices and I only own the rezound, and one pc that is registered. Has anyone else had this issue? If so, is there anyway around it or to fix it? Thanks
From me to you with this Snake bitten cellular thing
you need to go to your music settings and deauthorize some of the older ones devices... when you flash roms it thinks you are on a new phone so you may have to do this every once in a while.

There is no option to deauthorize devices, in the app settings or on the web. If you have a link or screenshot, that would be uber helpful
Edit: I got it fixed. Idk why I didn't see that before. Thanks

Amazon Appstore is the same way. I saw I had like 6 devices listed on Amazon's site because of the different ROMs I flashed on my DInc. Removed the old entries and now I'm back to where it should be.

NEXUS 10 Signing out of apps?

OK for starters I am very well versed in Android. I've been around the block for a long time and I've built my own roms, mods and basic apps. But I am stumped.
Now for record I am rooted and running the newest nightly from CM. (Not that it matters since this issue happens on every nightly). I'm using the Goo GAPPS12122013. I have two Google accounts signed in. Me and the wife, since I used her Nexus 7 credit to buy some apps. Dual accounts works great BTW it also allows syncing of instant uploads which is a plus.
My device is signing me out of stuff. The two culprits is YouTube and TapatalkHD. No joke YouTube will work flawless for a day or 2 and then ill open it and there is no user account signed in. So I have to do it manually. Then TapatalkHD says I'm running an unauthorized copy and must buy it. Nothing even a data wipe for the app fixes it. I have to go into the play store, uninstall it, watch it change to 'bought' then reinstall it and it works fine.
I don't get it, this never happened on my N7 on any rom not even the Gnex does it. All have dual accounts as well.
Any ideas as to what causes this? My Gmail, G+, Drive... they all don't seem to be affected. One commonality is that this issue may arrive after a crash/hardreset occurs. I find it odd though that its just these two every time.
Thanks!

I think it's a bug with the latest YouTube app, it started happening as soon as I updated to 4.3.9.

Any ideas about TapatalkHD besides the fact that it's a super buggy app?

I don't have quite the same problem but every other dayish (probably) the YouTube widget has the information as if i wasn't signed in, then every time i click on YouTube it says 'Signing in' quickly and the widget goes to my stream. It's never really bothered me but it points to it being something stock.
I am running stock 4.2.2, have other users and have YouTube updated to latest version.
