Is there a way do assign a different notification for text vs voicemail in the Google voice app?
Set it to receive your texts through the messaging app. That way you can choose your ringtone for texts through your regular messaging app and still get voicemail through the Voice app with a separate ringtone.

OK, I guess my situation is unique because I am having issues with my text notifications through Handcent or the stock messaging app. That's why I went with Voice for all texts. I can live with one messaging sound if this is the only option.
Thanks

You might wanna check your Voice settings on a computer browser to make sure its set to send you texts through Sprint. You may have a setting on there that's affecting it. I do quite a bit of texting on my phone without issue with Google Voice

Looks like there was a setting on the browser version. Hopefully that fixes the issues....

I still have the notifications from the carrier, not google voice.

First, are you still using the carrier voicemail? Reason I ask is that I had a situation where while I was in the process of switching my voice mail to Google Voice I received a voice mail and my phone had the notification that i had a voice mail but i didn't. Turned out that it was on the carriers voice mail so what I did was change the carrier number to my phone number. Restarted the phone and then logged into my ATT voice mail. Checked the voice mail and deleted it. While you're in there you can also change the notification settings. Can't remember which option number that is tho.
I'm now to the android scene, andsoup. so far I think it's pretty cool. But one disturbing thing about the optimus is the way it handles voicemail. The is no visual voicemail integrated into the dialer, using a separate app sucks- especially when it's an att app that doesn't seem to load.
Does anyone know if there is a fix for that?

It's not built into the dialer, but Google Voice is a solution that loads and works well. It also tries to transcribe and emails those transcriptions to you
Google Voice also has an option to display your voicemails in the call log screen.

I'm using the ATT app and it works flawlessly.

I've been using PF Voicemail + on my old GS2 with good success and over the few days I've had my OG it has worked just as well. It also transfered my old messages and missed call log when I made the switch as a bonus. Not sure if that was the app, or the result of TiBu. Either way, no issues I can see so far on the OG.

So I currently have Genome V.2 installed on my DNA and works great and I love it! However, when I go to my voicemail icon it takes me to messages which is just text messages. I cannot get it to work, does anyone have a solution? I really need it working, and yes I know Google voice is better and I have used it but for my work I have to have Verizon Visual Voicemail installed.
At the bottom of the screen in the messages app there are three tabs. The one on the right should be for voicemail.
Vvm is baked into the messaging app, its the rightmost tab. This was the same on stock.

Yes I realize that, however in Genome rom I do not have the third tab. When I select the VVM icon it takes me to the messages app but does not show voicemail. I don't know if there is a fix or just the Rom.

Well that sounds like a issue with the Rom and you should post in its thread.

I managed to get Google voice to work with the MMS app with the app GV integration, but it's really hit and miss. Sometimes it works but sometimes it doesn't, and it slows the device down. Is there a better way to combine GV and the MMS app? I have tried every texting app but none are as fast and simple as the stock MMS app. Any suggestions?

I'm also trying to get this figured out. I used the GV Integration app as well, however it doesn't work in Android 4.2.2, so it isn't an option anymore. Right now, I'm using Messaging + Google Voice, which is very similar to the stock app, however, it doesn't have that nice pop-up box like the stock one.
Well its working for me but I get no notifications in the stock sms app. I think it might be because the app is not in the actual /system/app folder. I would find out by moving it but I don't know where jackpot has the system apps installed to.

Well I found the parent app for sms and tried moving to system/app but I didn't know that everyone had this problem with 4.2.2. Right now I still use GV integration but since SMS gives no notifications, I just enable gv notifications to at least know I got a text and reply with the SMS app.
I have used that app before but the notifications and buttons in the app are horrible looking to me so I prefer not to use it.

Has anyone successfully paired any third party text app with GV so that it can be used for texting and NOT use your assigned verizon number but rather your GV number? Not just for texts but photos too?
I've checked out textplus, Handcent, etc but cannot get them to use my GV number
I've had mixed results when someone sends me a picture to my gvoice it will show up in Gmail. I have never seen anyway to send them.

GVoice doesn't support MMS, though it getting sent to email is new to me.
