[Q] Confused about MIUI - Motorola Droid RAZR

I had BootMenu Manager installed and used that to install the latest MIUI but I don't have Google Play Store so the device is not much more than a dumbphone. If I reboot the device I'm no longer presented with the BootMenu for flashing and stuff, how do I get back to it, or did I wipe it out?

I'm a bit confused. What BMM did you use? 0.2.7 or later?
If you had 0.2.7 download it from here and install as normall app

Did you have gapps installed and now you don't? Or from the beginning you didn't have them? If so, you have to flash them

CM7 Help

I flashed JTs nightly CM7 build number 14 yesterday, first time flashing CM7 and so I am just wondering if I did something wrong because I cannot get the android market. I followed the steps in the wiki found here but when I flash the cm_fascinatemtd_full-14.zip it powers the phone on directly, as in I go straight to my home screen and I never have gotten to flash GAPPS. So I have tried rebooting into CWM and then flashing GAPPS, installing it from ROM Manager and also reflashing CM7 from ROM Manager now I know there is a method in ROM manager but I need ROM manager PRemium to download CM7 nightlies. Is the easiest way to get the market and all subsequent GAPPS by going back to stock (ODIN to DL09 to ED05) then rooting and then buying ROM manager or did I miss something?
I have also tried sideloading the market but it never opens up, it shows a white screen then jumps to the most recent thing I had open
You should have setup screen (google sign in with android logo) when booting from CWM after flashing CM7 and gapps.
I would flash CM7 and gapp on CWM not on rom manager.(Wiping data/dalvik/cache)
Once you sign in for google account, you will be asked what google apps must be installed, and then market will be opened for installing the selected one.
I don't know exactly why, but once I missed that sign in chance (just skip), I haven't had any second chance anymore for installing gapps although I reflashed it again. Same as you've seen.

Are you sure you are booting into CWM via the Power Menu in CM7 and NOT by the 3 finger method??
This is very important, in order to get to the "right" CWM... Remember, once you are on CM7 or Vanilla GB, ONLY use the Power Menu option to go to CWM. (Or you can use ADB Reboot recovery too.)
Are you flashing CM7 AFTER you flash gapps? You should only flash gapps after you flash cm7, not the other way around. I second Neozen on making sure you're using the 'good' cwm.

[Q] Confusion when trying to install Cyanogen7

When I try to download the ROM from ROM manager, it tells me that I need install Clockworkmod Recovery, but when I pressed install, it came up with a Confirm Phone Model page which does not have Galaxy 5 as a option. So I am now just stuck here, what should I do, or is the free version of ROM manager pure not very useful?

did you root your phone?
what rom are you actually using?
did you try to update Rom Manager to an earlier version?
I assume your phone is rooted already. Don't continue if it's not.
I thought there was an official one released for the phone. Are you using the newest version of ROM Manager?
If yes, and our phone model is still not listed, then you'll need to install Clockworkmod Recovery by following this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1151396
It involves downloading a program called ODIN. You need to flash (transfer) the Clockworkmod file to your phone through USB. It's all in the thread above.
I had the same problem - installing the latest Rom Manager (free version) from the store didn't have Galaxy5 listed as a ClockworkMod possibility.
I flashed the whole thing by hand with ODIN and installed CyanogenMod - and presto; the version supplied with it had Galaxy5 support and I had no problem doing the "read only partition" installation.
Rom Manager is pretty crappy anyway - I prefer manual installation over it...
DO NOT - i repeat - DO NOT USE ROM MANAGER.
Theres no compatible version of CWMR it does offer. Flashing any of the other versions, which are made for other phones, might brick your device to the state that Im currently trying to revert (d/l mode only, but seemingly unflashable).

Why did you say that??? If the phone is rooted you can download CWM by RomManager without fear.. the important is that when the popup with phones versions come up, you choose only - ONLY! - Galaxy 5 voice! If this voice is not present into the popup, don't choose nothing at all! Choosing another phone might brick yours!
I downloaded and installed and even only update CWM by RomManager a lot of times and everything was always fine! No problem at all!!
You cannot scare people for nothing: your problems are not bug or issues, but only YOUR problems! and YOUR errors!!!
So, boyz, don't worry installing CWM by RomManager.. but remember to choose only Galaxy 5 voice, no other phone, 'cause you could brick your phone selecting a CWM that is not compatible with our GT-I5500..

Please help me reinstall CWM on my HP TP

Sorry but I am totally new to android and on how to install it in my TP. But, I was successfully running Cyanogenmod for sometime now until I thought of installing TWRP in my TP instead of CWM as installing nightly updates was becoming difficult for me.
I tried to install twrp through gooManager so that I would have both the option of Clockworkmod and twrp. SInce twrp is a better ui, I thought of using it instead of ClockworkMod.
So, I went to their site: teamw.in/project/twrp2/75
and followed the following:
Install the app and open it. Tap menu then hit Install OpenRecoveryScript. Tap Yes. Verify that the filename displays your device's code name and hit Yes. The file will download and your device will reboot and install the recovery automatically.
By doing so, it did not reboot but while I tried to reboot myself, I saw that the ClockWorkMod menu is gone from moboot and I have no recovery option left. The menu has 'Boot TWRP' but when selecting that, it says corrupt data and my TP hangs.
Please guide me in getting CWM back or get the TWRP.
Please help!!! Thanks in anticipation.
You can't have 2 recoveries installed. Try reinstalling from Goo Manager. Let it run until it notifies you that it's finished.
Ran it again
Thanks, I ran it again and it downloaded completely and at the taskbar it says, 'Invalid MD5 sum' and it did not reboot by itself.
What should I do next?
Try un installing the app from the website and installing goo manager from the play store. It's always worked for me.
Thanks....
do you mean uninstalling the GooManager(goo.im) after going to PlayStore where I see 2 options: Open and Uninstall, click on 'Uninstall'?
And the installing it back again?
Sorry, but I am a beginner.... please pardon for my dumb questions!
Yes. And make sure that goo manager identifies your tablet correctly.
Thanks but how do I know if the gooManager that I reinstall identifies my tablet correctly?
I might be thinking of another app, but I thought that the app shows a pop up stating what hardware it detected.

youre thinking of Rom Manager. if you really want to have an all in one rom app im telling you Rom Toolbox Pro is the awesome. there isnt another app ive found yet that can do what it does. too much stuff to list. but heres some screen shots that are relevant to this thread.
+1
I use Rom Toolbox ,it does everything .And you can use the lite version .
Hi,
I had to uninstall CM9 using ACMEUninstaller and had to reinstall all these again.
Luckily, I had a backup from 12-26-12 which I used to restore my TP.
Can I retry using 'Install OpenRecoveryScript' from gooManager again? Would it install TWRP2.3 now?
Please note that I am still using CWM.
Do I have to update my gooManager? When I go to PlayStore, it does not have any option of Update, just has 'Open' and 'Uninstall' which leds me think that I have the latest gooManager. Am I right?
yes if you re-flashed cm9.......download GOO and install TWRP again...should be good to go, TWRP will replace CWM in moboot.........also when you go to the playstore, tap the 3 dots on the top right of your T.P. screen and select settings then put a checkmark in "Auto Update app's":.....
p.s., after installing TWRP i would suggest making a new Nandroid back-up........

[Q] How to root / rom Amoi n850

Been searching for how to root / flash new android onto Amoi n850, slightly obscure phone. Found a thread on it's sister phone the Amoi n828 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=41322386). Would that be compatible with the n850?
Phone has a lot of bloatware and no play store, so would be nice to have a fresh ROM, if any English ones are available
Anyone have experience here?

I'm having trouble after installing Google Play Store, it says "No connection" all the time, is there any advice how to handle that apart from installing new ROM, MIUI for example?

For me yes, installing miui was the answer Do you need help with that?
I hope not I downloaded latest MIUI, the phone came already rooted and with installed recovery (I think it's installed because when you long press Power there is option "Reboot to Recovery"). So I will just put MIUI on SD card and flash from there, I've done it a lot of times on other mobiles like HTC Desire so i know the drill If I run into any problem, I'll write it here, tnx

Oh nice mine came unrooted and with no recovery so it was slightly harder here
Yes, it surprised me to so I immediately transfered Google apk's (Play Store, Services and Account manager) and it worked partly - I could add Google account to phone and Store, there are Sync options avalaible (calendar and contacts) but Store opens nice but won't connect no matter what...
Sounds doable but I wouldn't know how. MIUI is nice though so changing ain't bad
Well, it seems that the phone wasn't rooted to start with but the recovery installed (not CWM) was working so I finally flashed MIUI but couldn't install Gapps, after flashing they just don't appear and the MIUI is working perfectly. So, I installed Lewa OS for N850 and Play Store apk, now finally everything is working fine, Lewa is visually almost the same as MIUI so I'm very pleased.

I received my N850 yesterday
no gapps
impossible to flash a new ROM Lewa OS, or MUI (www.needrom.com) with the recovery inside
it starts and stop "Installation aborted"
i try to install new recovery with Mobile uncle tools but impossible
So i have chinese ROM, no gapps and cannot use my phone like i want.
can someone help me
pleasssssse
You have to root first, you can find how to on YouTube, search for MTK6589 root. Then put the n850 "recovery.img" from Needrom site to mSD card. After root you will have access from MobileUncle to open that recovery from mSD. Download Lewa before that and put also on mSD so now you can choose it and flash. After flash, install Google Play Store apk and Play Services apk and that's it. You can try to install MIUI the same way, but I never got gapps working, only in Lewa.
Edit: recovery inside is useless, so you have to use MIUI recovery, you don't even have to install it, just start it from mSD card from MUncle tools (after root, of course)

MIUI comes with gapps pre flashed. Drake and I have both got MIUI working perfectly.
I tried to flash that .27 latest version, MIUI installs perfectly but no gapps on phone. Then I tried older versions, they all install perfectly but still no gapps. I tried flashing just gapps after ROM install, nothing. So I gave up and installed Lewa.

I've flashed all three roms from that site on my phone, all had gapps. Same with Drake.
I see, but it didn't work in my case. Did you replace the original recovery with MIUI one or you managed to flash ROM with the original one?

I received a phone without a recovery so I used MIUI version
Mine came not rooted but with some mysterious no-name recovery installed (not CWM or similar), there was even an option "Boot to recovery" in menu. When I tried to flash MIUI through that, it stopped in the middle giving some error. So I rooted and then used MIUI recovery and flashed OK, but gapps not working.

I rooted again with Motochopper
Installed recovery with MKT tools but it is not Needrom recovery
But when i want to install a new ROM i have Status 7 error
I found Gapps here : http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-20121212-signed.zip
it seems to work but i must try now
But i want change the ROM to get MUI or LEWA and i have always this "status 7 error" with all the ROMS
EDIT : I install new recovery and can install LEWA rom but no MUI ROM (maybe the recovery file is not the same ?)
Will try now all.
Well, I used the (MIUI) recovery from Needrom site and was able to install both Lewa and MIUI.

[Q] Can't boot GT-I9100 after flashing CWM

Hello, in order to install Cyanogen I recently flashed ClockWork (6.0.2.9) using heimdall. Now the phone displays a yellow triangle and won't boot. I can still get into download mode and ClockWork is working (including root adb shell). How can I install Cyanogen from here? I have already backed up the phone.

Which rom are you trying to install? If it is cm11 or cm12 you will need a newer recovery. Just go to recovery mode(from off, hold vol up+home+power) and flash the cwm 6.0.4.7 from HERE
Now just reboot into recovery(not system), and flash the cm rom (and gapps if you want)

Thanks noppy. I flashed the newer recovery from your link, then the latest cm11 nightly which is running perfectly (although the boot screen still shows the yellow triangle). The only hiccup was that the recovery couldn't read my ext2 sd card, so I had to reformat to vfat.
Is it possible to install only Google Play without all the other GApps?

Yes, you can flash a minimal gapps such as THESE. It basically has playstore plus the needed .apk's for the plays services to work properly. Note that the version of these gapps are a little old, but they should still work fine. Any play services/play store versions will update themselves. You can also use the bloat removal script as well if you want to minimize your apps further.
If the yellow triangle bothers you(it doesn't affect anything negatively), you can try triangle away HERE
