Lumia 920 7 megapixels only? - Nokia Lumia 920

So I know the camera is stated to be 8.7 megapixels, but I noticed the other day that pictures were coming out as 3500x2000. That's only 7 megapixels and there is no option to change that from what I can see, Does anyone know if 7 MP is the max on the lumia 920?

Are you using 4:3 or 16:9?
I believe 16:9 is cropped 4:3 hence less than 8.7MP

^This, 16:9 pics are only approx 7mpx, change the setting to 4:3 and pics will be approx 8mpx.

The sensor has 8.7 Mpx but it is not rectangular. This allows for 7 Mpx in 16:9 and 8 Mpx in 4:3. With a rectangular sensor you would not be able to produce 7 Mpx 16:9 shots from an 8 Mpx 4:3 sensor just by cropping. I hope it makes sense the way I wrote it.
PS: Just found a picture illustrating how it works:

I noticed it when I was sitting with a friend watching a match on Projector and we decided to click a pic of it from my cam. And you know what I was so disappointed and later he used his moto defy to take pic and it was perfect. The screen looked so clear that we could read the score as well of a cricket match.
Any suggestions?
Tap the screen on the point where it displays the tv. This will set the focus and exposure for picture.

I did that too but it doesn't have any effect.

Super AMOLED sub pixels macro shot (warning 56k)

This was using a garbage macro lens that uses my crappy kit 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 lens and a macro adapter I made using the diopter lenses from a crappy $5 dollar store pair of binoculars in a tube pretty much attached to a 49mm UV filter using a lens cap with a hole I made using a hole saw and electrical tape to fasten in together to have the ability to re use the filter. Taken with Sony NEX 7, 24.3 megapixels converted from .arw to jpeg using Adobe Lightroom.

Having Problem with the front camera!

Whenever I capture on the front cam at 4:3 frame a line appears up after processing the photo!
And it didn't appear on first capturing!
Could you please tell me how to solve this problem?
Or any good for front camera which uses full resolution?

Can you share some picture?

Is the second back camera lens fake?

I know the title sounds a bit catchy but... The second lens of the Poco F1 is supposely for depth information.
We know that same result is achieved via software on the front lens.
On top of that, when I try to shoot in portrait mode with and without hiding the lens, I don't see any difference in the bokeh effect, or in the whole picture at all.
So my following question: is the second lens actually used or is the bokeh effect achieved via software?
Some "proofs" would be greatly appreciated!
it's a working camera but i dont know about how effective it is. you can try it out in the device maintenance page or by downloading Activity Launcher from playstore>All activities>CIT>second camera test. you can also check the ir camera there
Thanks to @nagoo1 I was able to test it with Activity Launcher. Attached samples from the same angle of view from the main and the second lens.
