Hey dagger, no matter what version of SetCPU I download, I don't get the Frequency Slider like the one in the pic. Any ideas?

Maybe the OP hasnt posted the latest version in that thread.
Because the latest version only has that slider.
If you really want that slider either buy it from play store or "you know what".

It's 2.3.0.2. This version of SetCPU has the slider. Really awesome.

Since every bit of RAM in the X8 phones counts, if you're a power user (meaning you know what you're doing), I say get rid of Superuser and SuperSU. You don't really need a separate app to manage your permissions.
Use: SimpleSU (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1978253).
This way you manage your permissions with just a list. And after setting all of them, you can even uninstall the GUI (or not even install it in the first place). Neat.
The trick here is to check the list of processes with root access in SuperSU, since for example with SetCPU you not only need to grant access to com.mhuang.overclocking, but to com.mhuang.overclocking.ProfilesService as well.

If you're referring to the font size on the today screen, go to \start\settings\system\screen\text size and adjust it to any size you want.
Looks like you're in the process of customizing your device. This is a really exciting and fun journey. You would also be trying to find out cool applications that you can use, I'm sure. So, I thought you might want to check out the following:
1) WkTask writtten by Waku from Wk Software lab Click here:

This utility displays all active application on the task bar and lets you switch to them.
2) RealVGA, and try out the 128dpi screen. If you have very very good eye sight, try out the 96 dpi display. Click here:

3) If you intend to use VOIP, this is still the best VOIP client that I can find.

7) If you want to be able to access all your applications and system settings from the today screen, try out iLauncher, which is the only one that works with the realVGA display.

With this, you can have one click access to any webpages, therefore one click access to things such as weather, tv programs, flight arrival and departure time, cheapest petrol stations, etc etc. all from the today screen.
It also let you have the ability to do soft reset in safe mode. In addition, you can have a battery gauge at the top of the task bar. I won't use its program switcher though. See my today screen at the end of this post on how it could look like. My icons are of 43x43 sized TGA format files. You could easily make them yourself for iLauncher.
8) If you want to make sure you do not miss any call during meetings but find the normal rigntone too offensive to be left on, then try one of these mosquitoes ringtone. Choose one that you can hear.

12) Try out this very very cool enhancement to WM6, so that you don't have to use the vertical and horizontal scroll bar again. This enhancement lets you scrool up and down pages by dragging it. It takes some practice to use it, but you'll get use to it.

13) This is probably less important once you have installed 12) above, but if you really like the iPhone feel for your contact, try out the best enhancement to the contact applications.

14) Try out the free google map. Gives you your street maps and satellite image. Even act as a crude GPS navigation software.

15) The best enhancement to the WM6 alarm system that I know of is Chronos.

I use this to set my device to give give me an hourly chime. Sounds like the old fashion grand father clock. It also let me have unlimited alarm entries, give me a good stop watch, as well as count down capability.
16) Replace the standard file manager with Total Commander and/or Resco File explorer. Lets you see hidden files, including those in extended ROM, among other things.

17) The best program for viewing picture that I know of is Resco Photo Viewer. It also has a screen capture utility which is really good.

I actually use one of the softkeys for this applications. The other softkeys is used for contact. I have phone as one of the icons on the iLauncher screen.
Yes, you can change the soft key to anything you want, both the left and right soft keys can be changed easily. There are many different ways to do this. One of the ways is to do it with a software called Sktools. This tool is one of the must haves. It also let you do many other tweakings.
20) Another very popular utility worth looking at is Tweaks2k2. I use this to change the color of my top and bottom bar. I often change the color, from red, to green, to blue, to black, etc, making my device more interesting. Go to system color under WM5 color to do this. Be careful NOT to let this software soft reset your device or else you will be frozen at the primary splash screen forcing you to have to hard reset. Always use your stylus poking into the hole to soft reset.
There are many more nice third party programs which greatly improves the ease of use and functionality of the device. Try them out as part of your exploration of what this device can do. For example I like the pocket weather program from SBSH, with a customized layout, I could display the day, max temp, min temp, precipitation and image of weather on just ONE line (not the one on my screen shot which takes up two lines). Another nice today plugin is Today Agenda, which displays task and date with just one line rather than the two shown on my screen shot.
My today screen changes constantly and it's fun that way. I tend to get bored with the same look and feel day in and day out.
My today screen (taken quite a while ago) after all the customization looks like this in 128 dpi. Note that I limit my short cuts to exactly 70. This would display very well in both landscape and portrait mode.

Edit" If you feel brave enough, do not mind lots of reading before hand, and do not mind risking not having your warranty honored by HTC, then you might want to try out the latest cooked ROM. Some of the applications listed above are already incorporated in the ROM. However, if you do not feel that the risk is worth taking, you could still improve your stock ROM's feel and look by a great deal with the applications above.

Sorry that I'm not the best person to ask in this area, as I mostly download stuffs from places such as youtube, and play it as it is without any conversion effort. Perhaps someone else could help out.

WHAT'S STILL MISSING (compared to other platforms FB apps)
- Live feed and chat.
- It's not possible to check who has "liked" any post/image/etc.

REPORTED PROBLEMS
1.1.0.17
- On some devices, after viewing a photo album, MS Facebook is unable to view any other contact's album pictures and generate their album list.
- On some configurations, MS Facebook is unable to remember login credentials after closing the app.

- Slow page scrolling reported on some devices.
- After viewing a photo album, MS Facebook is unable to view any other contact's album pictures and generate their album list.
- dominicanman912 reports that MS Facebook changed the volume keys mapping, so he's unable to change the volume anymore. There are no other reports of this issue.
- Facebook throws out an error while trying to fetch the inbox.
- megapinky is reporting he's unable to change photo to see another ones in the picture view, with gestures not working.
- Sometimes MS FB will not post updates once submitted; you'll need to try multiple times until your wall gets updated.
- pndragon reports that his all his news feeds are showing up as double posts.
- On i8000 if you should have install problems try follow this guide (thanks to b006): Restall v1.1 from Marketplace to override the preinstalled version, then go to Main Storage in settings and delete it (uninstall). Next install this version 1.2, not in main (since the preinstalled v1.1 is there to avoid conflicts) but in other storage options you have.
- On some devices, Facebook throws out an error message while trying to poke someone.

MS needs to speed up the development on this app because iPhone's and Android's facebook apps are way better then what we're getting (haven't used blackberry's fb app yet)

imho I think that if MS decided to not release this version for Pocket PC it means that they're preparing something better compared to the Smartphone version, and hopefully we'll have some updates for MWC

Yeah, it's strange that they didn't posted that in the touchscreen marketplace, also because there's a huge version bump (from 1.0.0.7 to 1.1.0.14) and some very welcome new features; when first extracted the original CAB wouldn't even install on my HD2 so I had to build it from scratch, so hopefully they're doing something better for our WM Professional devices.

Scrolling is very very slow.. Need to drag using the scroll bar to scroll down faster.. Is there a fix?

Will look into that, but as far as I know there's no solution. As it's an application released to work only on non touchscreen devices, they probably didn't put much attention into (kinetic) scrolling. If I had to scroll down faster I used the scroll bar, too, but imo that's not too much of a hassle

After trying it a while now I've noticed that this version is a big improvement... Friends pictures of their faces loads almost instantly, contact list and other stuff also loads much much faster than before. Plus the new comments feature is nice of course.
I've also noticed it caches face images (probably to make them load faster), you can move the cache with a simple change in the registry at HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Facebook\ImageCache where you can see the Path...
I moved mine to Internal Storage (Internminne\FacebookCache)

Unfortunately I can't replicate your problem
My volume keys are working fine while I'm using the facebook app and while I'm browsing HTC Sense

There are a lot of new registry values added by Facebook after the first run like DeleteMailPeriod, UserActionPublished, V1, V2, V3, V4. In the meanwhile, I found a bug tho: FB app is not generating thumbnails for my (and my friends) photo galleries after I checked someone else album. Can you replicate them, too?

I'm afraid it's still not possible

this would be soo awesome... in my opinion facebook is only good with the live feed.
But its a great app anyway!

Well now we just need two last features: chat and live feed... Let's hope they'll deliver them in the next update

TouchWiz Buddies Now

I used the TouchWiz launcher for awhile, I kinda liked it but missed the customization and standard adw launcher I have grown used to.
However I also found myself really using the TouchWiz Buddies Now widget

I use People Widget when i choose to not use Buddies now. I'm still going back and forth between touchwiz and ADW. i think i'm going to stick with touchwiz now though as it keeps another program from running all the time, since touchwiz runs anyways unless you delete it, but i don't want to chance losing something necessary to the phones stability.

launcherpro plus has an awesome scrollable people widget now, looks and feels as smooth as the HTC one:
google launcherpro (i cant link yet)
Worth the $3, especially when the other widgets come out

buddies now alt
bumping this up because i haven't find what im looking for. I need a Buddies Now alternative. a good one. Im looking more for individual fb updates than i am for a contacts shortcut. I have select friends that i want to track status and updates on, not my entire friends list. Below is what I've used so far with poor results so I need suggestions.
Just for a recap of the strength of Buddies Now, it allows you to put in just the people you want quick access to (not all of your contacts, nor all of your fb friends) AND it give you their status from the widget.
1. Contapps - concept is pretty good, facebook contact merging failed miserably, had to manually link the people i cared about getting updates from. The UI itself is terribly kiddie, with penguins and graffiti style wording. Lastly it does have a widget with two size options (4x1 and 4x2) which automatically just picks up the favorites starred in android. unfortunately i cant seem to get it to scroll so in the 4x2 widget it only shows 8 people, regardless of the fact that i have 15 starred contacts. Not cool
2. My Taptu - this is actually an rss reader but it has the ability to read facebook activity (mostly status and wall posts from what i gather). I havent been able to pick who's feeds I want to receive but the app description hinted that i would be able to. No success yet
3. 6sense - this is another rss feed reader that has facebook activity reading capability. the difference is that its supposed to be "smart" and only show you what you care about based on what you read and respond to (basically your own activity). Theres a bar/meter that monitors how much it understands you, and the more you do in it the "smarter" it becomes. So im "long term" testing this one since I think i have respond to the fb friends posts of the ones i want updates on and ignore others. i have no idea if this will work the way i want it to.
4. Phonebook 2.0 - much like contapps, slightly less kiddie interface, had a higher success rate of contact/fb merging. barely. No widget. may have to play with it a bit, unfortunately, it wants to be your main dialer/contacts app so any phone related duties make you pick between it and the default dialer. Since I only want it for one reason (fb updates for specific contacts only) it is mildly annoying.
5. LauncherPro People widget - well this is a people shortcut. scrollable is a plus. no fb updates. so it doesnt do what i need it to...unless im missing something?
So do any of you have anything you could suggest for what im looking for? Thanks in advance

6. AddressBook 2.0 with Facebook Mixin - just tried this and its very odd because it uses plugins called "mixins" to provide additional functionality but the main app force closes as soon as it opens. so the main part of this thing, which i have to have installed in order for the mixin to work, doesnt work. however, the facebook mixin logged into fb, got my friends list, did matches against my phone contacts and i got to choose whether i wanted updates from all friends or just favorites, what i wanted to be updated on (pic uploads, shared links, status, etc) and how often. this is a very strong feature set and more towards what i want but it's a shame the main app force closes (and still no widget).

still bumping this up, still looking for a buddies now alternative. Hoping the community can help me out here.

I have that clock app..I got it from android theme section, not vibrant but android theme.app and theme section. If you scroll a bit down u will see cowon clock widget.

I was just reading up on it today actually, thanks! It was ported from the LG Ally apparently? Im reading that the beta (the one in the market) is kind of buggy and degrades contact pics, and is difficult to uninstall. If you have it installed can you give a quick 15 second review of it?

While I use the LauncherPro "Friends" widget, I find the Socialite app a nice change, specially when I want to switch to a different home launcher and the Friends widget isn't available. I haven't had any problems or FC's. Syncs every 5 minutes on auto, or you can manually refresh the feeds. To uninstall, I go to the Settings/Applications and remove from there. The preview pictures come out pixelated, but when you click on the feed, it clears up. I personally like it as an alternative. It's both a widget and application, I like the widget a lot because of the separate tabs.
All in all, it's a nice little app.

Instruction:

maybe I put too much ads xD anyway I don't know what reddit is, thanks for the tips I'll try that reddit. My other app which focus only on my country get 7th place in Top New App righit now but this one I don't know why, it got good concept but the install is so low. i dont need any app.........easy method is to open your s-pen and take screen shot of the photo and then edit/crop to your liking

Sorry abotu that, this is my first International app, I'll learn from my mistake.
No more shortcut on ur homescreen, no browser bookmark, homepage.
Also you won't see ads when you exit the app anymore and startup EULA also removed.

let me tell you, what if the pic have text that is small and you can't read? when you take screenshot, it's not full definition bro. This app let you save the full definition of the photo, you can zoom in and out, save, save as and rename it delete as you please.

do you expect Free app doesn't has any ads whatsoever? why developer bother to make this app just for Free without nothing back?
I already put what the ads do and explain the permission. What do you expecting? it also has a paid app without any ads.

this what i do to save facebook pictures on my phone.. open the picture and hit the share button... share it on picsay and save it.. hope this will help..=)

thanks ummm you want to grab text? status update is what u mean?

On the Note 2 you can just share the picture with the built in photo editor app. Then save the picture.

I have installed it several times and I still can't save!

EDIT: I mistaken! It works good for Facebook, as it is made for it....but also Gmail app sees it as a possible app to use to save images from attach (from the Share menu)...but I get an FC in saving. Would be nice to give support also to Gmail. It would be a great super app as for Facebook it works very well!!!!!!!!!
