Why can't I receive official updates? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, as the title, I just have got root permits and I have got by Clockwork Manager that says "this version should be used with CF-CWM v.1.1 or newer. It appears if you running a different recovery. Some features has been disabled"
When I have tried to upgrade my system I have got the message that the device has been modified and there aren't updates available!
What is mean? Why have I got the message?
Which anomalies could I have?
On my phone I have installed the last official Rom JB.
Thank you for your attention!

Manually download the right updated version and flash it with odin. Good luck. You could also try unrooting and having your counter reset using triangle away.

He's right, least for me in the past on stock it only looks for stock recovery so use mobile Odin to flash it , let it update and re install cwm
Problem solved

And then why can't I upgrade my phone with officials updates?
I followed a guide and unfortunately I can't post the url address of the site with the guide...because I have sent few posts (I'm young user here..) on this forum.
This guide explained step by step all what to root the phone and said to download a file package with Odin and cf-root files.
Can you tell me, step by step, what I need to solve my problem?
Anyway I remember that I just set the phone in download mode and I plugged the micro usb cable with Odin loaded on pc; then I selected the cf-root file version 6.1.

Since I rooted the phone, I don't know if it's a coincidence, but after i turn off the screen the blue led of notify always blinking even if I haven't got notifies.
Someone does know the same issue?
edit: this issue doesn't always appears..

[Q] Root, Unroot, Reroot and SuperSU all failing!

I've had rooted in the past but I unrooted it for reasons I cannot remember, but anyway I've ran into a problem, when I tried to update to the new 4.1.1 update, it gets to 29% and fails, all 7 times, so I asked a friend what I could do, they said to reset my flash count, but obviously I need root to do that so I tried to reroot, Odin said it was successful but no SuperSU was to be found, so I downloaded it from the playstore and when I launched it, it errored and said the there was no SU Binary to be found, all help will be thanked for!!
Just a guessing but maybe try another rom could help: It happened to me with ll4 (4.1.2) and was solved only after installing ll5.

if not follow this tutorial http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1501719
if you are rooted and you are having a kernel with cwm recovery and when you are trying to flash that rom and appears that status 7 error it seems that your rom.zip is corrupted
i mean redownload again that rom and try again to flash it in recovery mode
i hope you understanded my english

Ignore the guide you're following and instead flash Siyah (.tar version) via ODIN and download mode.
Once you have flashed Siyah boot back into recovery, wipe data/factory reset and then flash whatever rom you want to use.
PS. In future use search, You could have got your answer by simply searching for "Status 7".
If you can, speak in spanish or french pls xD

You need to do wipe data/factory reset in recovery.
Also if you want help please provide relevant info like what kernel and rom you have flashed?!?!?!

Which version of SuperNexus!?
Have you booted into recovery and wipe data/factory reset?
Have you tried re-flashing rom?
Have you tried re-flashing kernel?
When on boot logo did you give it time to configure system? Sometimes it can be on boot logo for a while before booting to rom.

Because Framaroot is very fast, don't increases the FlashCounter and it keeps the Device Status on Normal....
CF AutoRoot isn't very fast, increases the FlashCounter and makes the Device Status on Custom.
Framaroot roots my device in less than 15 seconds on my device....
For CF AutoRoot I need my Computer....

You know you could use mobile Odin, which flashes the ROM from your phone, and if you check ever root it will root whilst it flashes.

Felix
XXEMC2 seems to have fixed any unexpected freezing on my S3 (previously using xxELLA) But the battery life has suffered. Previously the average discharge rate was about 4% per hour, now it's around 7% with nominally the same usage.
Still I'd rather have to charge it more often and be able to use it than have a brick with great battery life!

Yes, that's about what I see. A factory reset hasn't changed anything.
Still, at least there have been no more crashes.

What version you used Framaroot: v1.3, 1.4 or 1.4.1?
Once the device has been root can install Custom ROMs?
The procedure involves no risk?

[MODEM] GT8190 Modem update AME1

Hi,
I have a update for Modem File. (Modem.bin) from GT8190 AME1 Firmware.
The File is taken from DTM I8190XXAME1 Firmware (German Telekom).
1.) Do a Backup
2.) Install via CWM Recovery
3.) Clear Cache & Dalvik Cache
4.) Reboot
It's working for me, using AMB3 Firmware (I don't want to update all the time Firmware with no real changes)
As usual : I am not responcible, if something unusual happens or the Phone is not working after reboot !
for what is that?
As written : Modem update (Modem Firmware)
Whats wrong with the one I provided earlier? Latest modem.bin XXAME1-update [CWM]

if you still do not understand then i am afraid there is no hope to even begin to explain what the new modem fixes
give it a try and see if it resolves any issues you that you have experienced with mobile network connectivity in your region

[Q] Updating

Once rooted should I disable updates or should I continue to accept Amazon updates?
I'd like to believe the updates will improve the OS but I'm not sure at all if that's actually the case.

Nope. BUT if you have SS instaled from both stock & working rom slot, it cannot complete the update. That means you reboot into SS & just reflach older bin (complete bin, not the stripped version from Hash) & then flash supersu & update your build.prop to reflect the new version.

So basically you're saying, if I'm on stock rom and have SS installed and my device gets updated automatically. I can still go back to SS and restore it to older version and get my root access?
