Awesome, really sick of the stock themes but this looks great; will give it a try when I get settled at my temporary home.
Please help
tried the phone method and now i didn't have any sms app in my phone
it gone away!!!, please help!!!!
It normally removes the icon from your home screen. Look in your app drawer.
I used the Root Explorer method and everything seems to work properly.
Can you create a dark holo version? I tried too but just replacing the png didn't work, so I tried decompiling (keyword "Tried").
I'll attach the png I made to match the size and resolution of the other ones. At least I hope it matches.
PS: It shouldn't look 'streaky' on the phone. If it does, may just a plain black bg?
It's because they are .9.png can't just edit them and drop them in. But yeah I can add a dark holo tomorrow morning ish.
Edit: actually might have to be tomorrow or the day after.

For some reason adb didn't work so I pushed it with file explorer and like the OP said it is force closing. How can I fix?
EDIT: Got it fixed, deleted apk and fixed permissions.

You get the SDK from Google.
I'm pretty sure the freegee zip has adb bundled with it too. To use that you would just open cmd and navigate to your freegee folder and then run the commands.
It should also be in the root zip.
Edit:
Added dark version. Did not test. May or may not work, might not look right yada yada.
Make a backup of your original before attempting to use.
Apk attached to first post. Rename LGMms3-dark.apk to LGMms3.apk after download.

Yeah didnt even think about that, just edited the files i edited on the other one. Didnt need to do anything to that screen the first time. Ill update it when i can, think i have free time sunday. Not going to touch the dialer though. Dont even want to look at it but probably more .9.s to mess with then i feel like messing with. I just did mms as holo because i knew it would just be a few edits.

Nice theme. Sent some donation love your way
i've been waiting for this! before i complain, i'd like to thank you, i'm such a huge fan of the stock android interface, the new blur stuff was making my eyes bleed..
is there any way i can exclude this from installing the droid 1 sms/mms app[mms.apk]? i'm using the modified sms app that comes with the epic rom and installing this theme messes seems to break it.
something to note- i used 7zip to browse through the theme zip and noticed a conversations.apk.
the interesting thing is that before installing your theme, the 'text messaging' app[conversations.apk] works.
after installing, i notice that there is an mms.apk. i used root explorer to rename it to .bak and the 'messaging' app that appeared after installing your theme disappeared.
but whenever i open 'text messaging' it just closes. no FC no error, it just closes.
Try reinstalling the conversations to apk by clicking it in root explorer. I got my terminal emulator to work when it was doing the same thing by doing that

Sure, just open the zip file and navigate to /system/app. In there you will want to delete conversations.apk

Where did you see mms.apk? If you go to /system/app inside the zip file, there is no mms.apk... It must've came from whatever ROM you're using.

yea i think i may be mixed up. i have to do some testing, i'll report back.
i also noticed that putting this theme on top of the epic rom makes doubles of a couple apps.
for example, now there are two music players. when you try to open either, it asks what you'd like to complete the actoin with, 'com.android.music' or 'com.google.android.music'
i'll compile whatever errors i can find for you and report back

I re-coded the Services.jar in /system/framework for Axura JL5. The clock is originally black, which goes against most themes out there. I figured id post the Services.jar file here for anyone interested. THIS WILL ONLY CHANGE THE TIME CLOCK COLOR TO WHITE (top right hand corner of screen), NOTHING ELSE. This is ideal for people who are trying to theme with a black status bar.

i dont know, no one else has reported this issue......off the top of my head, did you do any of these:
1. Did not unzip the attached file before replacing services.jar
2. try to flash through clockwork?
re-read the instructions in the OP and make you followed them EXACTLY. if you did, then it should work flawlessly. If done right, thsi is not a risky mod.
The file that was unzipped somehow got truncated, so it was corrupt when I copied it over. After I restored and tried again it works.
And, I also added that file to the theme zip I use so when I applied it through clockwork it applied this file as well. Is that something that perhaps should be included in themes? <shrug>

well i dont think there is a single theme out there that has a status timeclock as the same color as the statusbar background (unless its intentional, ive seen those, in order to get rid of the clock)
the only reason i did this was because im very anal about my phone and the way it looks. Axura JL5 is the ROM of my choice, but the way i theme it has a black statusbar, so i had to change the color of the clock so i could see it. The original ROM theme had a grey statusbar, so the clock could be seen. That was the choice of Master (the ROMs developer), and we have to respect his themeing choice.
Shout out to yaggermr, He was the one who found the keyboard debug screen, and XIndirect for being a generally "rad dude."
The following is written for Hacker keyboard, but should work with Swift, and others. Some keyboards require more than one file to be moved to more than once place. Swype is an example of this. There is more than enough information in the next few pages describing what you need for various keyboards.
This procedure requires Root.
I can not be held responsible for any damaged property or loss of data you incur while running this tutorial.
Enable keyboard Debug mode.
Install an Alternate launcher and Root explorer
Install anycut: http://goo.gl/isvc1
Open Anycut, Create a New Shortcut.
Pick "Activity"
Pick "Android Keyboard Debug" (PROTIP: the list is larger than it looks, Scroll down!)
While you are there, create another shortcut for "Accessibility", and "Debug settings."
Return to your alternate launchers home screen and open "Android Keyboard Debug"
Enable Debug mode, and click Back. (Side note, you can stop here if you only want to change themes.)
Install an alternate keyboard.
Hacker Keyboard: http://goo.gl/AvZ08
Download your keyboard in APK form. DO NOT INSTALL IT WITH THE PACKAGE MANAGER OR MARKET
Open Up root explorer and navigate to "/media/My Files/My Downloads"
Copy "Hacker_s_Keyboard_v1.27.apk"
Now Navigate to "/system/app" and Mount as R/W
Paste "Hacker_s_Keyboard_v1.27.apk"(PROTIP: You may need to modify the files permissions, 777 will do here(that means on the permissions screen check all the boxes.))
Close every thing, and return to your launchers home screen.
Reboot your nook.
Enable The alternate keyboard.
Run the Accessibility shortcut you created earlier.
Under input method, select your new keyboard.
Thats it!

I don't actually mind the built in that much, but i know this was a heavily requested hack. So i did a write up with what ever i had around.
Cool thanks, it works. I had to reboot the NT before this keyboard showed up.
Thanks! This is hopeful. It worked for me but the version of Swype I used FCed relentlessly. perhaps a different apk would work but I don't have any idea how to find one. I used the one that the swype installer downloaded for me when it thought it could just install.
If it ain't Swype I'm fine with stock so I didn't try any others. BTW, I've used Swype on a tablet and it's brilliant.

Darn! I'll bet that was it. I had everything else in place. Is that a file the apk creates when you install? I couldn't find it on my device. Now I'm back to where I'll have to let the installer try the normal method just to get the main program back so I can copy it into root. Is there anywhere I can get the library file?
Is there any chance the program will just install correctly now that I'm rooted?

I put together a few mods from other places and thought I would share them.

Center Clock from TheGrammarFreak
Nav Bar from evilisto
This will replace your SystemUI and framework-res apks, so as always make a backup, as I am not responsible for anything that happens. But this is the result:

You can't really tell, but the MIUI battery bar is there. This will also completely disable your capacitive buttons! I also put up a revert zip that will put things back to normal if you need it.
Just flash the according file of your choosing. Once that is installed you can change all the colors for the bar in the BatteryBarSettings app.
The "text" version only has the back, home, search, and multitask buttons in text. It is more of a test and that's the only buttons I use down there. If anyone has any ideas for different buttons(color, font, etc) let me know, I'm not good with Photoshop, but I can do some basic things. So please let me know what you think!
As far as I know, this is CDMA specific, because the mount points in the updater-script are different for GSM.
Nice!

It is a rom edit. And easy, but the thing I am looking to do is disable the lights to the buttons. I know how to do it once you are booted into the rom, but I would like to make the edits pre-flash, and its kicking my butt.

And I made the init.d script but for some reason it doesn't execute on boot. There are other init.d scripts there so I'm sure his ROM supports them but now I'm all confused lol
If I'm able to successfully boot the next version of deviltoast with gapps then I will definitely be doing this! I saw when you posted it in the thread and i wanted it lol. Thanks!

In /system/usr/keylaout/ open atmel-touchscreen.kl. I'll I did was comment out the four keys with #. Then open generic.kl and find the four keys again(should be 102,139,158,217) and comment those out as well. That should disable them completely. And yeah, init.d scripts and such is a little above my head. lol

Do what I do and just add all the files from the gapps zip into the rom zip(minus the addon.d folder) and then flash and should be good to go. I hate flashing multiple files...

Hmm I tried just deleting them in atmel but I didn't try the ones in generic. That's why it wouldnt work for me.
And I'm going to try adding the script to the ROM itself and flashing that instead of adding it there manually. Hopefully this will work..

Yeah you need to do it to both files. Or it will still work. Sweet deal, please let me know if it works. I wouldn't mind learning how the scripts work...

Okay that didn't work so I'm going to try again on his next update and if I still get nothing I will ask him whether or not the ROM supports init.d
And if you want to learn a little about init.d, you can PM me
I was just using the kitchen to add the ffc fix'ed zImage, and I noticed that it said the rom doesn't support busybox-runparts(init.d). but I've never messed with the kitchen that much so I'm not sure how true it is.
edit: just tried to add it in and it kept saying the rom already supported it. weird.
Yeah I just got the same thing. Weird!
Supposedly it does support them.
Couldn't you just put the edited files in the correct directories in the flashable zip? Then flash?
Nope I tried that and it didn't work.

Maybe you need to have the updater-script in the zip set permissions..
After many flashes and dead batteries I finally figured this out and it was not fun!
Seeing it is a little out of the ordinary I wanted to share my findings for anyone else wanting this mod.
First you need the m10 tools.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1060648
You will also need Rosie.apk for the navbar and Idlescreen_Base.apk for the lockscreen shortcut backgrounds depeding on what you are changing. These are in the system/app/ directory of the rom zip.
Open m10 tools, and select Rosie.apk.
Once decompiled, find the Rosie_navbar.m10 file.
Expand the file until you see the options shown in the screenshot below.
On the data circled in red change the opacity from "1" to "0". (you can also change it to any value in-between like 0.5 for half transparent)
Make sure you select the data how it is shown in the screenshot or else other images will disappear!!
Once done with the edits save and m10 tools will repackage Rosie.apk.
Then push the new Rosie.apk to your phone or install via a flashable zip.

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
This is essentially the same process for the lockscreen shortcut backgrounds.
Open m10 tools again, and select Idlescreen_Base.apk.
Once decompiled, find the Lockscreen_Shortcut.m10 file.
Expand the file until you see the options shown in the screenshot below.
On the data circled in red change the opacity from "1" to "0"
Make sure you select the data how it is shown in the screenshot or else other images will disappear!!
Once done save and m10 tools will repackage the apk.
Then push the new apk to your phone or install via a flashable zip.
One incase anything else comes up :fingers-crossed:
Thank you for sharing.
Same to you zhp pilot, you've been pumping out some good stuff!
I don't know if I have something personal against those images  or If its just the fact it looks so much cleaner without them.
Nice discovery
Thanks
With the screen shots this was a real easy mod to apply.
should this work for any htc phone running sense 3.6? i have an evo 3d running the "cool-ics-v10-evoc" rom and when my phone loads i get a black screen with the notification bar at the top. if i put the stock idlescreen_base.apk back in and leave the modded rosie it loads to the lock screen but when i unlock i get the white screen with the htc logo and thats as far as it goes. if someone could please help i would really like to learn how to do this...
did you fix permissions when you replaced the apks?
No I didn't. Sorry. I'm a complete noob to all this. I honestly don't know how to do that yet...

Long press the apk with the file explorer you used, assuming that's what you did. You should see an option for permissions. Make it rw-r--r--. If that's confusing then check the permissions on another apk in the system folder. Just make yours match the existing. If you didn't replace the apk via a file explorer, more info on your method would be helpful.
After making changes to the apk I saved it to my desktop. Opened the rom I was working with and replaced it there while on my computer. Then reflashed the rom to my phone. Made a copy of the rom first in case it didn't work I could easily go back to the working one... Which is what I'm using now.

Oh. Well nevermind the permissions thing then. Doing it that way would have set them correctly.
Do you have any idea what I'm doing wrong? I tried your transparent nav bar from here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1814171
But it didn't do anything for me. Once the phone rebooted the nav bar looked the same as before...

I have experienced some versions of rosie that are very fussy. After m10 edits i have had to decompile and recompile with apktool (no other edits) just to properly compress the m10

That mod only works on the rezound due the updater script. It specifically uses the mount points for the rezound.
The issue may be due tho the fact your are placing a modified apk into the rom zip. The modified one has a broken signature and/or one that doesn't match the other files. When you boot a rom for the first time, the signatures have to match. After the rom boots once, it no longer does sig checks on the system folder. I would suggest placing the modified apk into a flashable zip and flash it after the rom has booted.
Alternatively, you can adb push Rosie.apk to the phone or manually replace the file with a file explorer that has root access.
If it still doesn't work, then the problem is with the apk itself.
Well...didn't get home till late last night, had to be to work early today, so I didn't really get a chance to try everything. I did try to manually replace the apk using root explorer and after doing that and setting permissions right, pressing the home button did nothing. Pressed back button to back out of root explorer and got to a white screen. And that's it... Tried rebooting my phone, same thing, a white screen... Idk if those other options will work but I'll try when I get home today...

no prob, glad you got it working. The only other thing I was gonna toss out there was if you had signed them but i don't think that m10 tools breaks the signature anyways.
