Best sense based rom without sense?? - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

I need something to hold me over while the data issues get fixed with cm10. Last one I really liked was freEvo but that appears dead

i didnt know CM10 had data issues, i used it last thursday before switching back to Viper. SuperLTE has a "bareback" that is desensed, also viper 4g gives you the option to desense the rom. I belive there is also a script that will do it for you. the ROM cleanup utility.

I haven't had any issues with data but those who have just flash sense and reprovision their phones and flash back

Have been using Paranoid Android (form of cm10) for couple of months now with no data issues whatsoever..
Sent from my EVO LTE on Jelly Bean diet!!

+1 for paranoid android but why would you want a desensed stock Rom..? I've noticed much better data speeds on sense vs cm10 stable build so I know where your coming from but honestly, why flash a stock Rom without sense? :what: It's like asking for a burger with no cheese...

MeanROM 3.5 issues?

Hi guys, is MeanROM 3.6 running as smoothly for you as the prior beta versions (on the older base) did? I am about to make the upgrade but it seems like the newer one might have stability issues that the prior versions didn't...
I'd ask the guys in the MeanROM thread. They're very nice there.

Yeah, the problem is that that thread is approaching 10,000 replies, and it is getting less useful as it is TOO long, and too many topics all at once
Plus u can't post over there till hit 10 posts funny thing is that doesn't seem to prevent stupid questions.. I've had more issues with 3.6 than any other mean Rom yet... Been on it since 1.8.. but cant ask 4 help cause I'm a "noob" even though I'm not.. sorry jus needed to vent with the last part..

Ah, well that is helpful information. I'm going to hold off on it then as the only thing I am really missing (running stock now) is the wakeup with camera button feature.
Out of curiosity, what issues have you been having?

I don't know if this will help you but I did a factory reset before flashing it. I don't know why, I usually dirty flash all his. I just decided to this time. Also I don't know if anyone else has tried but I finally took the S off plunge after flashing. I did not have any issues with the 3.6 build. Every other build kept saying can't find bamboo.
3.6 is what previous Rom suppose to be. I mean this thing is running great with no known problem for me. Older Rom I was not able to watch hd quality YouTube directly from the browser ( desktop mode), this 3.6 play up to 1080p perfectly from browser.

I thought u had to revert to original base before running lazy panda.. also is anyone still having their SD card gettin wiped ? Thinking about doing it although I'm on 1.12 so no rush
MeanRom 3.6 is by far the best version so far and I've been running MeanRom since the first release. The people that are having problems are the ones that can't update their firmware properly. This is an early release of the new base and Mikey doesn't have all of his tweaks ported over yet. But it is definitely better than stock, and more solid than the others. I am s-off so the upgrade was seamless. The other great thing about MeanRom is you can dirty flash every version. No need to factory reset for each version.

I think it is the smoothest of all his releases. While not all his tweaks are ported over to the new baseband it still an awesome Rom and once he gets tweaks ported it will be even better. Give it some time. I usually dirty wipe all Mike's updates but I decided to clean wipe because of the baseband change. I did that when we went from 1.13 to 1.22 as well don't ever have problems. Great Rom hands down. Flash it, love it, enjoy it!

I did a full reset.. wifi randomly disconnects even after choosing 2.4 GHz smart WiFi and all recommended settings, I dial a # and htcdialer force closes, I work in a sprint call center lol and the 4g I get there is great but the icon says I'm still on 4g even when I leave work, I'm in Denver where there is no official LTE...only the repeater we have in the building... Don't get me wrong, mikeys got the best Rom I've ran on ne phone, jus the firmware up + an unfortunate brick equals problems

[Q] Photon won't install any CM10 roms, but CM9 works fine?

Hello, I've been having difficulty installing any JB roms on my Photon. I've tried to install both CNA and AOKP Jelly bean roms, and they both hang on the bootanimation, and make my Photon feel really hot. I was able to get a CM9 rom to install, and it turned on in about a minute and worked perfectly. Am I missing a step or something that's preventing JB from working?

I'm having the same exact issue. I've tried MIUI, AOKP and Paranoid Android and all 3 just hang on the boot animation till I end up battery pulling and starting over.. I do a full wipe and also do cache and dalvick. I've just resorted to installing HybridGBv20 unlocked and it booted right up but aosp is a no go. I know on my evo there was an issue with sdcard partitioning but I don't think that has ever been discussed whenever I'm reading directions for these roms. I also don't have an sdcard just using internal. Thank for any help. Really wanna try one of these aosp roms out . Thank you in advance!

In the ROM. Install cm9. Drop the speed. Flash cm10 over it. You gotta play around to find a solution my friend. Do things that seem dumb like dirty flashing.

My experience with dirty flashes has always been nightmares but ill give it a go I guess. I would assume most if those Roms come with stock voltages. I'm also using Tue default kernel but did try jokers 1.3 and 1.4. I'll give it a shot I guess. The wife is liking the current tom but I would love to see aosp on it.

[Q] Giving up on ICS

Was gonna wait for the official ICS update for the thunderbolt but after 4months and numerous rumors not panning out im going to root and flash a rom any suggestions for the best daily driver ????
But browsing and reading up a little but still confused on whats available??? Would love to try jelly bean but i can settle for ICS
Battery life, speed and stability are the important points for a daily driver
Whats you suggestions????
I know I'm gonna regret it as soon as i root and flash the official update will probably come out but i remember when i first rooted my OG droid I never went back so what you guys suggest??? also next upgrade will probably be taking the nexus 4 to straight talk but wanna get a few more months out of my Thunderbolt u would think HTC would want to keep the customers that run out and bought the first 4G device but i guess all they really care about is our money.

If you're looking for an ICS build there really is no amazing one yet, but Liquid's is the best you will find with Nusense a close second. My personal recommendation for a daily driver though is Thundershed, or any of the roms from reds. I am running ikream nosense and enjoy it a bit. There is also the sense based offering of it both are pretty nice. Depending on what rom you go with there are kernels and things like that to pick up from there.
If you want something bug free i recommend Skyraider zeus 1.3. Thats what im using with the lean kernel. Its very smooth. Plus there is a sweet ics theme for it. Throw in halo launcher aswell and you pretty much have the complete look and feel of ics and bug free. Everything works perfect on this rom

As was I. I just assumed my phone had aids though since it sees to work quite well for a lot of users
Proving again that all Thunderbolts are different, don't know why, but each responds differently to different ROMS.
To the OP, remember! Flashing is cheap, don't hesitate to try several ROMs before deciding on one you like.
I lean toward the NuSense but battery life isn't quite what I need... <sigh>
Another hearty recommendation for SkyRaider 1.3.
I've been evaluating lots of other ROMs and radio combos. Nothing has been as solid a daily driver as SkyRaider Zeus.
I'm really working at using Twisted's AOKP ICS, but my Bolt doesn't love it. I keep getting data hangs, and have to reset the radios via Airplane mode off/on.
And the leaked Sense ICS was way too battery hungry for me.

LiquidSmooth 3.2:good: with the .19 radio. It has been my daily driver for almost a year now. Way better than any current ICS rom for the mecha. No problems, everything works. And it all works plenty fast enough.
If you really want a solid ROM with everything working great, Sky Raider is excellent. Especially since I like having a good camera and video camera. Nice to have everything work perfectly. I love AOSP, it is very fast, but you don't get the same functionality (dont get me wrong it is very close, but small things like camera are just not quite as good) you do with Sense. I hate sense but skyraider really is a great ROM

You should check out Twisted's new rom. I haven't had any problems with it and it's the smoothest rom I've had in awhile.
So can anyone give me a rundown on the differences on these ROM's? I've seen Liquid 3.2, Thundershed, and Skyraider mentioned here. Which are Sense based and which are AOSP. Are the Sense based Rom's laggy? I've tried NuSense, and it was a nice ROM, but just too laggy for my taste. I've tried Jesters and Twisted's 11-7 version of Liquids ICS ROM, and they've been great, but I'm having too many bluetooth issues which will interfere with work so it's a no go if I can't simply turn on the bluetooth and let it connect.
I understand flashing is supposed to be quick and easy so just try them all, but it seems to take me several hours to get everything backed up, flashed, and put back the way I like it. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I have only used LiquidSmooth 3.2. It is a Gingerbread AOSP. Any Sense ROM tends to be very laggy on either of my Thunderbolts. And all of the ICS ROM's seem to have at least one problem or another that keeps it from being my daily driver(bluetooth, wifi, camera or camcorder especially!)
It all depends on what you can and can't live without on a DD. Most of the Gingerbread ROMS's shouldn't have many, if any, issues. Some may be slightly slower than others and look different but all should make a good DD. The current ICS ROM's for the mecha are extremely fast, but usually lack in the camcorder or wifi department.
This thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1905083 has most of the ROM's linked(except LiquidSmooth3.2 Not sure why all the links to it were removed, Liquid is the Man tho and gotta respect his decision)

In my humble opinion, if your talking about the most features it would be the Charmaleon ROM, your able to theme quite a few things because of a tweak add-on he has in the rom. It's on the third page of ROM developement.

I'll second ViperRom or MeanROM, if you're looking at ICS ROM's. With JB ROM's the verdict is still out, but Viper's base JB ROM works pretty well, as does MeanBean (the ROM I'm currently running). Not to say these are by any means the best, just a handful of the few I've tried since coming to the EVO LTE. It's all subjective, really, since what's best for one user may not be best for another.

Thanks for the input. I want to stick with a JB ROM but I travel so much with my job to places with horrible reception or Hotels with no wi-fi and then I get fc's or I start to loose certain functions and I have to go back to an older ROM. I think I'm going to designate a memory card to keep a few good ROMs on when I travel to nip it. I haven't tried Viper's base. I think that'll be my next ROM.

I'll put a third vote in for the Mean series. I've tried MIUI and CM10 recently, but I always end up coming back to the beauty of Sense. The dev on MeanRom and MeanBean is very active and has made it very simple to update to his newest version with an OTA updater.
That said, I am currently checking out the rEVOLTEd rom, with JB. I was particularly interested in how the dev used the AOSP vanilla version of Recent Apps switcher rather than the Sense version... The camcorder is not currently working, but it should be fixed in the next version. Other than that, it seems to be running very well.
Overall, there really are some great options out there for JB and ICS Roms.

Just want to say thanks to everyone who gave their opinions and input in this thread. I flashed Mean Bean and loved it. Problem was I flashed it wrong. Didn't upgrade to 3.15 firmware first. In the process of trying to do that I bricked, fixed, unlocked/ unrooted, upgraded, unlocked, rooted, and finally reflashed Mean Bean. I haven't had this much fun in a long time. I've been so use to dropping roms on a sd and flashing I forgot one of the most important things about XDA. READ Instructions before flashing new roms. You Sir are absolutely correct. My favorite so far.
I tried both meanbean and stock w/ goodies and I really like the fluidity of meanbean. However, the battery life seemed like it was better on stock w/ goodies. I also used rom cleaner w/ the no-sense option on both of the roms so i'm not sure if that contributed to better speed or battery life. I decided to stick w/ meanbean! no fc or errors for me and everythings been running great!

the most stable from my experience was a cm9 ics based rom as its most compatible with the device...most roms 4.1 based and higher have reboot issues because of a deep sleep issue caused by the default setting of the min frequency being too low under performance settings...but if you want everything to work including bluetooth and not have sense cm9 would be your best choice...4.3 based roms still have many bugs such as mms not working after first reboot and camcorder keeps force closing..4.1 and up still has a few bluetooth based bugs and your reboots...the reboots still happen on 4.3 based roms like pac until you change it to proper settings

Even the latest version of cm9 (back in 05/28/13) has bluetooth problems. Is there really no aosp or kang that is 100% functional? Weather it be 4.0, 4.2, 4.3? Came close with Liquid Smooth but still having soft reboots.
Consider Talon v1.0, because either nobody is using it (unlikely with over 3000 views), or people are using it and brenuga just built it right and it works... and my money is on the later. Seems extremely stable, feature rich, and bug-free, it is what I am going with for my work phone.
My ROM of choice is CM10.1.3. I have zero issues with it. CM9 would be my next choice.

Although I would go CarbonRom (4.3 based) or Talon (4.2 based) for stability and performance.
