[Q] ParanoidAndroid 2.99 [4.2.1] Compatible with SGH i717? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I tried to install ([AOSPA 4.2.1] PARANOIDANDROID 2.99 betaFIVE | AOSP JOP40D, TONS of customization) ROM running latest TWRP & CWM, but did not work? The Recovery aborted. It had like an error status 7 message and other words. Is this Rom compatible with Galaxy Note SGH-i717? I've flashed other PA Roms up until [PA 2.54 Nov 8], but this is the first one that seems not to work. IVE DUN ALL THE WIPING: FACTORY, CACHE, & DALVIK 3x, but nada! Why can't i flash this Rom?
PA Rom Team are good job! Thx Devs!

Just black balling here but I am under the impression that 2.99 is for the nexus 7 and has not been ported to the i717. I'm thinking a person could always follow there how to and try porting it over. As well kernel compatibility may be an issue .the errors you got likely saved your phone from implosion . But with that I could absolutely be wrong .

Thanks

Usually it is on the website of the rom developer or linked in the thread. For instance SlimBean got a flashable zip for GApps on their website, maybe try it.
I ve downloaded gapps for milestone 1 version. Is it useable for nightly version?
Yes, they're not ROM specific. They're android version specific.

My Galaxy Grand Duos Won't Boot

Hi, this is my first post, so if I am posting in the wrong section, please tell me so. I have a Galaxy grand Duos, it had Android 4.1.2 (stock) and I wanted to upgrade it to Android KitKat (4.4) so I rooted it and I upgraded first to 4.2.2 using RR (Resurrection ROM) and it worked flawlessly then I used CM 11.0, I flashed CM 11.0 (the ROM) and gapps, but now it just won't boot, it's stuck at the Galaxy Grand Duos logo and it just won't go to the main screen or anything, did I brick it or what?
Yes, when it stucks in manufacturer logo it's because it simply cannot initialize correctly, any system file can cause that, or any rom

Thanks for the reply, but actually, you added nothing. Obviously, it cannot initialize correctly and I know the ROM was the cause, I just need a fix for it.

Actually I answered your question. But, to fix this you have to re-flash CM, or another rom with CWM...

Actually, I re-flashed CM many times, but still no avail. I flashed Resurrection Remix with CWM and then CM 11.0 with CWM also, the same version. Should I've used another version for flashing CM 11.0 as it upgrades to 4.4 unlike the RR which upgrades to 4.2?

Ok..so you have to Odin back to stock before installing this rom! Do not flash from cm! It will give errors and mess up.

Kernel for 5.1 lollipop

Does anyone here know if there is a i777 compatible kernel for the galaxy s2 i9100 5.1 lollipop roms . I have tried using Shift- Eternal- lollipop kernel. It was compatible with the i9100 5.0 lollipop CM Resurrection_remix ROM, but I have not been able to get it to work with the 5.1 release.. I have tried replacing the boot image file from cyanide L 5.1. It boots but there is no wifi or Mobile data.

No, sorry. @rogersb11's kernel is pretty much the only game in town now. It's possible (purely speculative) that you've run into problems because he builds his own kernel instead of CM's, and RR is basically CM with added features so you would need a pure CM kernel to port.
Again, that's a guess, as that's how it used to work. He's posted an update to his rom; did you try pulling the kernel from that update?
Steve, thanks for taking the time to reply. I was afraid that was the case. Rogerb11 first 5.1 release was without his lollipop kernel. he stated that he was having problems with his kernel with wifi. I tried porting that kernel and I believe that it just boot looped. His second release with his kernel booted, but then I experienced problems with wifi and mobile. Hopefully he will release a 5.1 standalone kernel that can be ported over to the i9100 ROMs.
The truth is I have not been able to find a stable lollipop rom yet for my phone. The closest was resolution remix 5.02. and I was wanting to try the 5.1 version. Will keep checking the forum. Thanks again
