OK folks. We now have a Nexus 4 port to our AT&T Optimus G's. This does not just bring AOSP to our devices, but any Nexus 4 Rom will be able to run.
This shatters the bounty expectations, and now it is time for us to pay up!
The good folks at Team Codefire are the winners of the Bounty.
Please send your donations to g33k3r - Lmarazzi86 [at] gmail [dot] com on paypal!
I will send a PM to everyone on the list below as a "friendly reminder," and keep the OP updated who has paid, and the total.
TOTAL PAID: $105
List of contributors (Will periodically update):
gregk232 - $50 - PAID
ArghSims - $20 - PAID
jmrubel77 - $20 - PAID
mgebara - $15 - PAID
fahad233 - $20
brunswick000 - $10
dgarbs - $20
farmercyst - $20 (if by 12/4)
r0b0m1nd - $10 (any method but paypal)
ryfermadness- $25
NastyNate208 - $20
uncle_seuss - $10
Projected Total - $240 (tentative)
Also, thank you to Rohan32 and Team Nocturnal for posting the initial guide, and for resolving the small bounty discrepancy in a very timely manner!
Other than paying through pay pal I would have no idea how to do it.
They are already working on aosp.
If that is the case, then let's at least show our appreciation, and provide some incentive, and let the devs know they really have our support.

$20 from me even though I do not own the phone yet...
And If I did, It would probably be the Rogers version.
But can't help but get excited for the prospects though.

This is because you do not feel that these folks deserve some appreciation for their hard work?
Maybe you are one of those guys who ask them to hurry with their releases/fixes even though you do nothing to thank them.

alot of developers don't do it for money, nor do they want yours (atleast experienced developers that i know of, they tell you to go donate to CM team or the EFF).

That's fine. If someone puts out AOSP for this phone, they can tell us to do whatever they want with the bounty.
The main purpose of this bounty is to show our support of the process.
This bounty can also be used to fund the purchase of this device for a dev.
Example: HTC G2 came out, Cyanogen had asked the community to raise funds for it's purchase. This led to CM being available on the G2.
Just because some devs would prefer not to receive a bounty for their work, does not mean these threads should be banned.
...Then this bounty should be toward the CM team. At least this way this insures us proper support for the phone itself. Instead 1 single dev creating the rom and calling it good with cash in hand. That's why bounty's has been in the grey area for people in xda, not because they don't want to show their support. But their are some really selfish people out there who will do just for the money.
I am a firm believer in donating funds for genuine devs that do this mostly because this is what they do, not just to make a buck. This just my opinion.
On that note: I will donate $30 if we can get an official CM member to jump on board with this. ...and I don't even have this phone.
I donated 10$ to CM team on cyanogenmod.org

I am always down to donate when someone makes something I want or feel is enough of a benefit to everyone, I don't really feel the same if I am basically paying someone ahead of time to "try" and do something. I really appreciate the many people who spend their personal time to make things work or work better for everyone. They definetly deserve the little bit of beer money they get from us.

It its called a donation because it its voluntary and all dev its done with no warranty, if you brick your phone it's on you.

I dont think you understand what a bounty is or just looking for something to complain about.... It is paying for something you want before you get it.... I am not asking for anything nor is the atrix team. He stated they would need a phone to properly port and test it for us. We must realize that I went seeking them not them just porting on their own free will.

A bounty is usually applied AFTER service is complete. You don't see bounty hunters getting paid BEFORE they bring the guy in...
boun·ty /ˈbaʊnti/ Show Spelled[boun-tee] Show IPA
noun, plural -ties.
1. a premium or reward, especially one offered by a government: There was a bounty on his head. Some states offer a bounty for dead coyotes.
Why would we pay him before he does something when someone else could potentially do this before him? Appreciate what you are trying to do and when we get CM7, you'll see my $10.

I would just ask if you guys would look around the site. Most device dev section have a bounty thread for something someone wants and doesnt mind paying for it or paying for the tools the dev needs to start.
This thread was not about giving money to anyone for producing cm7 but helping the atrix team get a photon, so they could port cm7. As I stated before this thread can die since rinehart said he was porting it and had the phone already.
Well, it's after February. Over 200 dollars were collected and given to workshed in appreciation for his work on the eris.
Wattnxt, thank you for managing the money.
For all who donated, me, watt, and shed all thank you for donating, of course.
I was gonna make this a "workshed appreciation thread" but that would clearly put down the efforts of all of the devs that worked on the eris, and i'm not here to spread the hate.

That is 100% correct, we are striving to pay Shed back for all he has done for so many of us.
Let me be clear that I am in no way diminishing the work that many other devs do for us here. But for many who have been with Shed in the Eris GSB thread, and have benefited from his work, it has become personal. This is our tribute to him and all he has done without asking for anything in return.
That said. I've started a collection to get Shed a new phone. The final choice will be his, but I believe the GN and Rezound are in the running.
Since there is really no good way to do this, here's the plan...
I cleared my donation account of all but $50, which is my initial donation to the cause. All donations for the month of February go to the Shed phone fund. If there is enough before the end of the month, I will make the domain to Shed in a lump sum with the names of all who donated. If there is more at the end of the month, that is his too....call it the accessory fund...lol.
I figure we should be able to get this done relatively quickly, considering all the people GSB has reached.
Thanks Shed. As a father of 3, I understand and appreciate the hours you spend in front of the the PC helping us all.
Sooooo, to donate...click on my donate link on this site and every penny in February goes to Shed.
Thanks everyone for coming together to thank a pillar of the dev community.

Paypal finally decided to be a *****. Gonna mess with it later, then donate.
I am interested to know what the total donation sits at though. HEY WATT!!
Just a friendly reminder, if you pledge, please don't forget to make your donation.
There has been some question on how to donate via the mobile app.
Click on my username, select more, user's profile, scroll down to paypal donation email. Tap on donation email, and it should bring up paypal with everything but your donation amount.
If you wish to remain anonymous, please state that on the notes field, otherwise your name will be added to the contributors list given to Shed when I post the lump sum to his paypal donation account.
Thanks everyone for making this possible.
As of now, the fund sits at just over $105.00. Though we currently have pledges for close to $200 so far.
Thanks again everyone for the support on this.
Still hoping he picks the GN, but hey...he could tank us all and pick the Razr....yeah right...but if he did, it's still his choice.

I hope he picks the Droid Bionic. We could use some developers who have a following like this. I've never used any of his art (I consider rom developers artists) but I have to say it must have been pretty good to have people wanting to buy him a new phone as a thank you. I'm jealous, I get mass produced roms that are built on several devices and lose that personal feeling that you get when the developer actually uses the phone.

To All, Let's get clear what kind of bounty thread is acceptable and what is not :
A bounty thread that is posted for anyone to claim should they solve a problem or provide a fix is Acceptable.
A bounty thread like this which is to provide a person money or specific team money...etc IS NOT ACCEPTABLE........
THEREFORE...... THIS IS CLOSED AND DO NOT POST A BOUNTY LIKE THIS AGAIN......
THANK YOU ••• MODERATORS
I used the T989 (S2 for T-Mobile) before switching to the note and I must say that his guy is one of a kind and would be a great asset to the i717 dev community.
His T988 ROM (Darkside) is very popular as well as his kernel (Darkside Kernel). Used by 7+ different roms.
I managed to talk to him via PM about helping us out and would contribute if only he had the device.
I will be collecting the funds on his behalf and paying the rest needed for the device within a week or two tops so he can start developing
He's a great guy so please let's not piss him off with ETAs and unnecessary requests.
Lets set our goal at $750 for a new one from Bestbuy or $550 used from craigslist/ebay.
I'll start the bounty with $50 and will pay for the rest for a device after two weeks tops.

First off, no disrespect for you in this post, thederekjay, don't know your work, I'm sure you're great.
But OP, your thread title is disrespectful to the devs working on the Note today. Just because you have a favorite dev/rom on another phone/etc, doesn't mean you should post with that sort of slant. Devs are taking enough crap here lately for no reason.

It doesnt matter how the money is received IMO. As long as donations are for a good cause (Hence Getting TDJ here) then it shouldnt be a problem. People get burned everyday with money, people donate to even "greater real world causes" and get burned, its the way it is, not saying that thats how it should be.
I had no intentions on development for this phone until yesterday night when a few guys insisted that they wanted me to dev for it. They started a bounty the same as this one. I didnt have anything to do with what happened to you all with these other guys that came in and did nothing "per say", so it was not fair at all for my thread to get deleted, nor trolled. I thought the rules were "A dev couldnt ask for money to get his/her a device"
But anyways, im donating 10$ to TDJ Because he is loyal and he works very hard, i have much respect for the man. His Rom was very great, not to mention I even used his kernel and advertised his super wipe script in both of my ROM threads.

Looking at that statement in pure logic terms... It is possible, please donate $50. Why not to me?
I seem to see people not understanding the term 'dev community' fully. First, you should ask politely that if someone is willing to do it and if they may require help and that you are ready to donate to help start the project. You got off on the wrong foot right there. You seem to be paying off a developer. Second, this question is not meant for this section. Put it in General or Q&A. And next time, ask politely. Don't throw money at things to get them done. Period
Also I find it humiliating to wave 50 bucks for a job that's actually really expensive. Like you've said: I'll pay 1000 buck for whoever gives me a Lamborghini.
50$ is for like 2-3 hours of work.
Not to mention free development which is one of the principles of XDA.

This thread carries no merit what so ever and does not belong in the development section
Please take a moment to read the XDA Rules
To some of the member's who responded I suggest you also read the rules again. Instead of flaming the op just hit the report button and let the mods handle it. Some of the comments were quite uncalled for.

Hey guys,
**Please for now just donate who have the D802 version,if we reach the amount needed, then he will see with the device in his hand if he can add support to other variants**
Our G2 dont have a lot of kernels options, and lately i see a lot of people asking for more developing,so i spoke with stratosk and his more than interested in developing to G2 but he can't afford the device.
He will develop a stock kernel + integration with sempahore app(free),about CM support he is not sure if will be.It depends on the changes they made in the kernel. If it's a totally new branch, he will not develop for CM.
The device (D802) in greece cost 555$ so maybe if we all donate smalls amount we can give him a device and bring one more kernel developer to G2.
*About stratosk:
-Stratosk is a recognized developer on XDA
-Developed awesome kernels to popular devices like Galaxy S1 and Nexus 4
-He has more then 25k thanks
-Semaphore app has more then 50000+ download on play store
I think thats better that we just donate if we reach the necessary amount, but if/when we reach please everyone who promised an amount donate!!!!
So heres the list:

Thank you guys and sorry for the english mistakes.
I've never heard of this cat, but I checked out the N4 forum and there's a ton of activity on his thread. Do you know what variants he plans to support?

He wants to develop to other versions but he can't say until he see the differences.
I'll throw $20 down if he confirms vs980 support.

First of all I would like to thank zevim2005 for this thread. Thank you very much!
@mickskillz
Thank you very much for your intention. But I really can't confirm that I can release a kernel without having the device to test.
I really don't know the differences between the devices, so I can't promise anything about this variation.
Can't you go and look at the different device trees prior to commiting kernels updates to see whats what? We already have a pretty good kernel thread that supports CM11 and Stock across all of the variants.
I would suspect that you should do your homework about which devices you plan to support (all, some, one, none) and get back to us. I'd love to throw down some cash for the VS980 Verizon variant but not if you don't plan on supporting it. I just think people would be more inclined to donate if we had more information.
I'll pledge $20 if you can promise VS980 support.

I agree... I understand where you are coming from, but I've donated enough in the past for no reason. I like to support our DEVS, specifically the ones that support my device. If you are able to sort thru some of the commits or check what wootever has done for our kernel, maybe you can get a better ideal if you are capable of supporting the verizon variant. Thanks and I hope we can raise enough to get this going.

There is no homework for me to do, my friend.
As it is mentioned in OP, this is for D802. I can't be sure for all variants. This is clear from my side. Please DO NOT participate for other variants.
zevim2005 had this idea and I appreciate this.
I feel very uncomfortable talking about donations and this bounty.
This is maybe my last post in the thread. If someone knows me (or my work) and wants to contribute I will be grateful.
I don't promise that I will make the device fly like a rocket or that the new kernel will solve all your problems.
I promise Semaphore kernel and Semaphore Manager app for G2 (D802 variant). Nothing more nothing less.
Thanks everybody for your time.

Thank you, stratosk its not like developers that do their work and when you ask for something else they don't even listen, believe me if will have the option to support other version and he will have time for that,he will do that!
I'd be happy to see such a famous dev working for our G2.
I'll chip in 15$.
Let's see.. 25$ sent (to donate me link in stratosk profile, the one in original post didn't work - 0AK216335L397182Y).
