Hey guys,
just bought a HD2 and I was wondering if there were any programs that have augmented reality browsing functions. android got those with layar or wikitude.
Does any port for Windows mobile exist?
Thanks in advance!
jokeR
looking for that, too.
Not yet. HTC SDK for camera access needs to be released first I think? Layar are concentrating their efforts on Android and iPhone. They just released a port for S60 but nothing on the winmo front.
Correct me if I'm wrong!
Hi, I created a thread with a link to their feedback site, Support is gathering! So lets hope they listen.

voted, lets hope something comes from it
i made a post, too
me too,
Would it be hard to port this to WM?
Oh google might help us here, they just released Google Goggles to the android (from what i understand its layar on steroids) and are planning a release to WM soon
excuse my ignorance....but what it does? i never had an android pda in my hand
What it does.

Basically, you point your camera at something while running the app and it gives you information from wikipedia and other sources about the thing you're looking at.
Except for a little circular button the image on the Google Goggles page looks a lot like a HD2 lol.

Excepted that it is not true augmented reality. There have been AR apps on WM long before the iphone and android existed, but they do real AR, ie you point your cam at something and the PDA interprets what it sees to enhance the picture in real time.

What apps?
Its all to easy to slag the other OS out there because WM was first, it often has missed inovation like AR previously and the output of alot of WM apps is pretty ugly (IMHO).
Any kind of AR (true or compromised) would be a great addition to my HD2, but i fear we may have to wait until google decide to release it for us.
AR Zoo for example :

this will be amazing
imo:
sorry but google goggles is NOTHING like layar- and definetly not Layar on roids.
That google app takes a picture and then loads a website (whatever it may be) and displays info on that page.
Layar overlays data about places in realtime as you are viewing the image your camera is currently showing you.. ie: you are pointing your camera across the street at ... lets say walmart. layar would have a captionbox floating next to walmart with its info etc... same for the hotdog stand beside walmart near the street. etc as you move the camera the info stays with its location and others pop up.
and now.. they have developed layar drive which uses the same tech, but in a gps navigation sort of way... overlaying the realtime route information, street info speed etc, on the live view ur camera is displaying (assuming you've pointed ur camera straight ahead.
so hells yah... we (or at least I) want this for windows mobile. i've got a $110 budget for this type of software every year.. im sure others would as well, as this would most certainly replace software like tomtom iguidance igo layar would stand to gain alot of new customers.
sorry im ranting.. but honestly this is amazing stuff ,..... unlimited potential.

I agree. Have you seen the future Satnav they're working on? Have a google but its basically: Moving images on screen (presume projected) shows a red line following your route above your head so not to interfere with driving. It was real crisp. Be interesting to see it develop. Personally I cant wait for the Nvidea Tegra series phone generation to begin!
Could someone make an app that would enable me to use my TP2 as a stud finder? Sure would make hanging pictures handy...
Thanks.
SouthernAtHeart
yeah...that's kinda ridiculous
I'd actually suggest a geiger counter first. It would be far more useful
Nice
LOL With use of the G sensor, you sure could make it LOOK like it was working: move it left a bit, and at some point it "senses" a stud, then as the person moves it back and forth to confirm, the "sensor" would go up and down.
Awesome
Use Google Maps and sign up for Latitude, then add me as a contact. You can then find me wherever I am. I'm a stud.
There is a Metal Detector app which actually works, i have used it to find metal studs in the wall.
It in the HD2 forum section a simple search will point you in that direction.
As for a timber stud finder i would also like to know if there every was one.

The only reason that works is because the HD2 has an internal digital compass. It won't do anything on a TP2.

Ha ha ha!!
Good morning all. I am taking the little one to Disney next week. Can anyone speak to whether or not Google Maps or Street View can help me navigate through the parks?
The market has one app that I see "Disney World Maps Box Set" that has very poor ratings.
Any and all helpful thoughts are welcome.
Thanx!
have you looked at this?
http://disneyparksmobile.com/mobilemagic/
EDIT, sorry apparently this isn't an option for android phones, after a little more research it seems that the app you mentioned is the only option for us
I doubt that Street View would work inside the parks, but satellite view should. Also, this mobile site is pretty useful:
http://m.disneyworld.go.com/
Honestly you don't need your phone to maneuver around the parks. Disney has everything laid out nicely and there are the old fashioned paper maps everywhere at every stand. The only thing I used my phone for was to track how many miles a day i was walking

i have been several times, my favorite place in the world and the above is true. also, one of the best parts is just roaming around looking at every thing, you will never get bored and there is always something to see.
but if you really want maps for the parks, you can try this:
xttp://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/myVacation/customizedMaps/index?id=CustomizedMapsSampleMapsPage&bhcp=1
i know its not on the phone, but you can personalize them to what you want to do and everything. take a look, they are neat.
wasn't Disney World actually offering specially modified Eris' for this purpose? I think I read an article about it somewhere...
here it is... found the article!
http://www.engadget.com/2010/08/11/disney-converting-droid-eris-into-gps-tour-guide/
I guess this was just a test though... not sure if it is actually in use...
i need (iGo 8) for my HD2 with middle east maps including Egypt
anyone can help plz
is it a hard thing what im lookin for?
That's not warez you're asking for, now is it?
Stop being cheap and put your hand into your pocket, only advice you'll get before this is closed due to requesting warez!!!
i guess there s a big missunderstanding here it s not about money
i mean what i read about hd2 and igo8 says that it shuld be already inside the phone
but when i didnt find it i was wondering about the way to get it i thought it could be avaliable here
thanx guys and sorrry for my bad english
for me there was Copilot installed before and it's only a trial version, you have to buy it or search on other sites
well it was copilot (the trail version) in my phone too so which one is better?copilot or iGo 8>?
Tomtom > iGO8 > CoPilot
YMMV

Looks like Obulis, from over 4 years ago, now with icartoon candy & pet instead of a ball & pot...
Not that I mean to critisize what you are doing, just the whole iPhone 'look what we created!' attitude when they simply copied something else.
After using touch screen devices for 4 years when the original iPhone was released and being asked for the nth time 'is that an iPhone? they have thouch screens!' has jaded me somewhat
Thanks for the game though

You got to remember iphone has excellent marketing. Honestly windows mobile should have been over iphone but several factors come into play
1) They had Steve Jobs , a superb speaker . We had bill gates best programmer on earth , but average speaker.
2) Their marketing and advertising is off the charts , while all we had was stupid commercials or no commercials.
3) They have more people communicating with thier customers. Xda was found by developers who where looking for support when microsoft didnt listen.
So even though windows mobile is the best phone , when you lack marketing, support, and too many different handset , you lose. I still make free games in my spare time for windows mobile to show my support.
Hi! that was a fun game to play. I hope there are more levels. I liked the difficulty and i think there is true potential in making it even more creative. Keep on the good work!
Still play Tiny Wings Bounce by the way and trying to beat my score. I cracked the 300,000 point mark. I have a WVGA device now, an HTC HD2. Maybe if you were gonna add new levels, maybe have more than one piece of candy you have to feed to the monster? Also scenery as the wallpaper? Just a thought or two, but it was a lot of fun to play.
Thanks again!
Ok glad you liked it!! Actually I got some request to do more levels on this game and some people still want me to make an endless version of canabalt. Iam glad you liked it also there is supermeatbuy saws of death for windows mobile.
There could be one bug, but it could maybe be my device. Whenever i hit either the left or right arrows in the level, the white dot appears where i hit the soft button.
i know the white dots are supposed to be where I swipe my finger to cut the rope, but the dot appears after touching any of the soft buttons. i can try to post a screenshot or two once i get a chance to show what i mean.

Yes I seen it too. How its programmed is where your finger taps on the screen , there will be the white dot that goes with your slashing or cutting the rope. Its suppose to disappear in half second but the 1st dot created always stays until you slash again. I dont know why 1st doesnt destroy itself automatically so I made such to design the levels in a way that it doesnt effect the outcome of the game.
Iam glad you guys enjoyed it , and I hope more developers continue to make fun freeware and support windows mobile development.
thanks for your reply. Whe i complete level 2 and i hit the next arrow, the dot appears and the food from the string gets cut without me doing anything. that is the only example how the non-disappearing 1st dot affects the level design.

Yes I played that and saw it. The only way to get around that is just tap anywhere else on the screen to make the dot disappear. Its programmed to destroy itself but for some reason it doesnt respond.
Thanks for the game! Here is cab for ya!

This game is 8 levels and works on windows mobile 6.5 . I don't know if it works on the newer windows mobile devices unless they found a way to hack it.
