Re: [MOD] APK Gmail 4.2
Does not work, my Gmail is toast now... I can't restore it either...
Anybody have any idea how to get old Gmail back?
I tried restoring from titanium backup but without s off that will not work. I used the 4.2 file in the dev forum topic and now my Gmail seems permanently broken.
I am unlocked, rooted, and using teamwin recovery

Same happened to me as well. had to relock and flash ruu and unlock again and root all over. should be a easier way but i deleted all gmail files from 3 diffrent spots then reinstalled 4.1.2 gmail. all was good until i rebooted the phone then FCs on gmail.
So your saying your still getting fc's or your good now?
Also could you point me to a thread or tutorial about going back to stock or whatever you did to fix it. I literally depend on Gmail and am freaking out a little. Thanks a bunch

Also I used j-case's unlock method and I heard you cannot ruu with that method... Am I toast? Should I just send the phone back?
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda app-developers app
couldnt you just replace the apk? I've done it numerous times in the past with other mods... Also keep in mind , a backup should have been made in your recovery .. titanium crackup doesn't count ... I hope things pan out for you

I don't think that is true. Where did you hear that?
For the mod to work you have to remove the original gmail .odex file in recovery.
Just go to the android develoment page its in the stickies. Just relock then fastboot and run the ruu. And yes it constantly Fc'd after I fixed it upon reboot. Every time I thought i fixed it. Upon reboot Fcs.

Did that. Still got gmail.Fcs. removed every gmail app and odex file. Nothing worked for me. Probably screwed up somewhere but not that much of a biggie.

My phone keeps giving me a contacts storage FC. Tried restoring my back up and clearing all data but no luck. Could somebody please pull there apk and post it here for me to try. Don't really want to flash the rom again if i don't have too.
Sent from my MB855 using XDA App
Did you delete anything from the rom? From what I understand about the blur contact storage is that all of those little social apps need to be there regardless if you are actually using them or not. If you deleted anything then reflashing the rom is the easiest way. If you didn't delete anything then you might need to switch roms or keep trying factory resets
Sent from my MB855 using XDA App
I had this happen to me when I had the ICS version of Google+ installed on my phone. I uninstalled it and went back to the market version and all is well.
as unlikely as it seems, it was the blur_yahoo.apk from system/app (and its .odex too, I think) for me...just put them back in system/app
its the google + ics apk had that happen to me too uninstalled it and viola!!
Sent from my MB855 using xda premium
Yea not sure exactly what it was but I just reflashed jokers rom and just restrored data through advanced restore and so it makes for a painless fix.

Can somebody please please
Get me the apk. Or port out that data usage widget into a flashable zip
Im super surprised ...it works great....has anyone tried it before...does it have some weird file dependency????

It comes with the "My Verizon Mobile" app. You can download it from the market.
Verified, I had backup from stock on TB, restored my Verizon app to eclipse ROM and was able to add widget.

Alright, following This Guide I got Google now working.
To summarize what I did
1. Root phone using the Korean Root method
2. I unlocked the bootloader and installed CWM using Project FreeGee
3. I booted into CWM and installed This zip.At the I was writing this guide, I freegee was on version 0.5
4. My phone restarted and froze up about twice before finally staying booted. It seems to have normalized now.
edit:Right now most things seem to work.
If anyone finds a better version of Google now, please let me know and post the how-to.
I didn't make the zips and all I have done is follow the instructions and write down my personal experience. I give full credit to the author of the original post for their instructions/work they did. However, since the LGOG doesn't need project Butter, Google Now is the main thing we are missing from 4.1 and it should help ease the wait for a stable AOSP ROM. If anyone has any issues let me know and I'll make a list.

THis is great news. Right now I'm pondering whether to get this phone or the Note II, and Google now (which I have on my Captivate running SlimBean 3.0) is the one thing I really cannot imagine giving up.
Question: when you say that Calendar/settings alamrs don't work, do you mean that they don't work at all, or that they don't show up in Google Now?
I was referring to not working in Google now. Although i did manage to set an alarm with it shortly after this post.
Also fwiw I had the captivate too. I try to stick with nexus hardware.

OK, I can't get it to launch links for me after searching. Anyone else? I'm wondering if it's because I removed Chrome and the LG browser?
Sent from my LG-E970 using Tapatalk 2
Edit: Works most of the time but I also have issues launching links. I still have chrome and the stock browser installed, it will launch them I just have to click on them multiple times. I'm also occasionally having issues exiting to the home screen using either the home button or the back button.
Links can be a little stubborn for me but, usually open.

Any way to uninstall?
Sent from my LG Optimus G.
Titanium backup.
Sent from my LG-E970 using xda app-developers app
Uninstall stock voice search with titanium backup or you will get problems with android keyboard. It makes it try use them both for voice typing. I'd assume it may be the cause of any and all problems.
Edit: scratch that... Since installing Google now I get all kinds of freezing reboots. Caca. Then again it just be saying f u to nova launcher. Clearing cashes fixes it until it happens again.
Has anyone had good luck with this?

One of the cards says there's an update available in the Play Store. When I go there it says my device is incompatible. Is there something we could tweak to the build.prop in order to get this update? Or will that mess things up due to the nature of how it was installed?

My stupid tablet is a Chinese spec, so no Google services came with it. And yes, I copied talk.Apk , talk.odex, talkprovide.Apk in system/app folder, changed permission to both, restarted tablet, the talk icon will not show up,

Oh that is why. Get away from the Chinese tab. Wait for flasher to be fixed then do that.
well, it never occurred to me an android device would come without Google Apps, and I needed a tab at that point. I was told I need correct libs, anyone knows where to find it?

A mysterious file is always generated on my SD card no matter how many times I format it or delete the file. The file has an extension of "MOLOGIQ" and is usually named ".06ba141d-a652-464b-b7c2-0932d1a1402b.mologiq". I have a fear that it is a spyware application that's hidden in my phone. I really can't seem to get rid of it. Any help understanding this or getting rid of it is much appreciated. My phone is rooted, S-OFF, 4EXT. This occurs on any ROM/kernel and even with full wipes and formatting I can't seem to get rid of it.
Just from googleing it comes up as stealth mode start up advertising, which sounds like a load of crap, don't know how or where you got it but it don't sound good
thisis50.com if its hot its here
If a full wipe doesn't fix it, all I could suggest is formatting SD again, through your PC, then run the ruu

I'm a flashaholic if that's how you spell it. v.v
It shows up on any ROM I use. Even on the ROMs that have full wipe aroma, I've even used ROMCleaner, and all the wipes in 4EXT, including SD. Thanks for the suggestion guys. If anyone else has anymore I can try, you're more than welcome.
Can I use a logcat to detect this app? Maybe format or delete the file and turn on the logcat and then wait until a it returns and find the item in the log?

I'm sure it's not a kernel or a ROM. :/
On my phone it's 1Weather, whenever I go to its settings.

I had the same file on my vibrant and sgs2 i was able to remove mine by using my pc windows 7 and doing a format using fat32. worked on both phones and none came back my guess it was a downloaded app
