small modifications to some apps - XPERIA X8 Themes and Apps

i modified these apps because i did not like the icons of these apps
these apps are from FDE 4+ final ROM for stock kernel , Xperia x8..
Music.apk ---> changed the icon to ICS style icon
Settings.apk ---> changed the icon to appolo music app's icon
Framework-res.apk ---> changed the default background image to Jelly bean default wallpaper and lock icons.
i dont know how to make a flashable zip
i personaly used adb to push these apps onto my phone.
so i advice you to do the same, its realy easy
so if you are sick of the icons use these apps

Change Theme

Sorry guys
i have 435 Firmware and baseband 54, and a theme on it (2.1 Theme Green Glow) - now i want a other theme - what i must do - only flash over the old - or all new?
thx - sorry for my bad english
The only problem I can think of with just writing over the old theme is if the new theme does not have a modded battery & reboot option and the old one does then I'm not really sure how the icons would appear or if the phone would even run properly.
But if the new theme has either reboot or battery mod or both you should be ok.
Install via xRecovery.
as usual, do a backup, and apply through xrecovery.
A theme replaces /adds various system app and usually the framework-res.apk. You shouldn't suffer any data loss. But depending on the theme, you might loose some functionalities like 180° rotation (Cyanogen based themes).

Reloaded ICS + replace stock launcher etc.

Did anyone tried to use --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1531222&highlight=lost cause i wonted to customize my status bar with it and after instal in recowery i lost my status bar and needed to restore system ;/ It looks fantastic and i'm wonderig if someone tried it in cm9 for legend (as i tried) with better succes then I
Secound question is if there is any way to replace stock launcher contats dialer from CM9 to Go launcher and other Go aps without "make as defoult". I meen if there is any way to remove from system contats, dialer and trebuchet and replace it with Go aps
the "Reloaded ICS" thread lists a deodexed cm9 rom as requirement - our current legend's cm9 is obviously odexed atm...

Dragon's JB 1.4, 1.7 & 1.8 Installation problem

Hello All,
I've installed all three of the above ROMs and, whilst they have consistently remained the better (in my opinion) ROMs currently available I do have one small little problem that I need to report. Every time I install one of the status bar mods (Clock Center, Clock Right or, with the latest, status bar transparency) I encounter a problem. Both the center and right clock mods lead to me having a blank status bar in portrait mode (it is still functional, but just doesn't display any information) and the status bar transparency mod causes the system UI to crash almost instantly after startup (with the message "System UI process has crashed"), meaning I don't get a status bar at all.
Not sure if this is the right place for this report, but I can't currently report it on the ROM thread so I thought I'd pass it back here.
Hope this helps in fixing one of the very few problems with this ROM,
Forsterb01
Are you doing all this from a full wipe/Fresh install?
It may be related to the Aroma setup (slightly wrong folder location, maybe slightly wrong worded text for the flash procedure)
Open up the aroma script and updater script, see if it all matches up
Looks like Dragons got this one in the latest update:
Dragons Jelly Bean V1.8.1
Base XXDLI8
New Multiple Kernels (Stock - XXDLI8, XXDLI5, Siyah V1.6b13)
Fixed Statusbar and Clock Mods For Stock Theme (No more SystemUI Fc's)
Rezised Clock mods to smaller font like in Dragons Jelly Bean V1.7
New Wifi Band Switcher (Dragon Extra Settings)
STweaks in Dragon Extra Settings when installed Siyah kernel
some little changes in build.prop for better memory management
and more..

[Q][SOLVED] Weather Widget on XPERIA Home launcher

I have an XPERIA X10i running DooMKernelv06 with Sony Ericsson Home version 2.0.A.0.20 which I updated from the original stock version.
Android Version: 2.3.3
Baseband Version: 2.1.71
Kernel Version: 2.6.29-modFXP-DooMKernel-v06 [email protected]
Build Number: 3.0.1.G.0.75
I would like to attempt to install the WeatherWidget.apk that is sourced from the default widgets that come in later versions of XPERIA circa 2011 phones.
I have installed the WeatherWidget.apk on my X10i with XPERIA Home launcher, but that was when I had CM10 installed running Android v4.1.2
The attached image is the WeatherWidget.apk I'd like to install as seen on an XPERIA S v4.0.4
Any ideas on how I could achieve this using the current firmware on my XPERIA x10i?
[SOLVED]
I installed the following package XPERIA S apps on stock V2 & BEATS on a fresh install of SEUS GB 2.3.3
I had some problems origianlly with some menu displays, but believe this may be because the first time I installed the package it was not on a clean install. The second time on a clean install proved to be successful with existing GB 2.3 display features retained.
I had problems with the battery status, as it didn't display applications, but only the core hardware services WiFi, screen, Cell Phone, Idle etc.
The second clean install corrected all this.... and probably other things I hadn't noted.
The same result can also be achieved with the DonutHD v2.3 ROM and then installing the WeatherWidget.apk and WidgetPicker.apk
Thank you to Denie46 for help provided.
If I'm not wrong, I'm pretty sure that you can't use the weather widget on 2.3.3.

Good point, you may be right. I believe something like a companion widget such as WidgetPicker.apk may be required too.
I may be able to support a higher version of the home launcher than the stock one, but not sure if there is a break point before a compatible home launcher and a supported working WeatherWidget.apk.
Fingers crossed.
Actually weather widget is fully working on stock 2.3.3. Here's a flashable zip containig widgetpicker.apk and weatherwidget.apk. i've also included clockwidgets.apk.
Enjoy!

Thank you for the files.
I installed the zip via xRecovery with "Sony Ericson Home" 2.0.A.0.20 already installed.
After a reboot I was not able to see the addition of the Weather Widget.
I entered settings ->applications and cleared the data on the "Sony Ericsson Home" 2.0.A.0.20 application and rebooted.
Still no new weather widget.
I note if I go to system/app/ and manually 'install' the application is comes back with "Application not installed'
This generally indicates an incompatibility with dependent OS and/or applications.
I installed Home 1.0.A.1.5 which I believe is the original that comes with SE GB 2.3.3 and again the Weather Widget was not compatible.
Could I install a higher version of "Sony Ericsson Home" or "XPERIA Home" than the current 2.0.A.0.20 I have now?
Is there another 'suite' of compatible Widget/Home applications that'll work under GB 2.3.3?
I know Weather Widget works with GB 2.3.7 and it may have even started it's life on GB 2.3.4, but I can't be sure of that.
Or credit to Denie46, and did I just stuff up something installing the Widgets on my GB 2.3.3 and Sony Ericsson Home 2.0.A.0.20 environment?
Try this: copy and paste weatherwidget.apk and widgetpicker.apk to system/app via some sort of root explorer and then fix permissions either from Xrecovery or using the in-built option of root explorer. This one should work.

Denie46, Thanks again for taking the time to reply.
Yerp, did that.
Extracted the files out of the zip.
Copied the files to /system/app/ and then confirmed permission rw-r--r--.
As I said, I even cleared the data on the "Home" application to restore defaults.
I have also rebooted the system after each of these changes.
I know when I was trying to get this all working in CM10 4.1.2 it was only when I found a WeatherWidget.apk that I could click on in system/app/ and have the WeatherWidget.apk install and state done, that it would work correctly.
At the moment the WeatherWidget.apk as provided, can NOT be installed on my 'standard' GB 2.3.3 OS environment.
It's as if for some reason this WeatherWidget.apk is not compatible with the current OS environment I have built.
I have installed Mobile Bravia Engine, xLoud and patches for Link2SD and others, so maybe I impacted on a required services somewhere or something.
But at the moment with the basic knowledge I have, it doesn't appear that WeatherWidget installs on GB 2.3.3 with "Sony Ericsson Home" version 2.0.A.0.20 as I currently have it built.
Something to note, the ClockWidgets.apk does install and can be seen on the widgets home selector, but it doesn't activate anything that I can visually see on any of the home screens. Select it and nothing happens.
We are sure the provided .apk(s) would work on a generic GB 2.3.3 OS?
If there was no modifications to the Generic Sony Ericson X10i GB 2.3.3 build as downloaded via SEUS and then enabling 'rooted' access;
it is expected that the above WeatherWidget.apk would install and be seen on the Widget selector in the home menu?
What "Sony Ericsson Home" or "XPERIA Home" launcher version was used to provide WeatherWidget support on the X10i GB 2.3.3?
What I guess I'm asking is, are these Widget APK 'known' to work on GB 2.3.3?
If we know the answer is, "Yes". I can re-install the device from scratch, install WeatherWidget.apk and WidgetPicker.apk first and test. Building up my system again and see where it 'breaks' before I get back to my current configuration.
Obviously don't want to have to rebuild my device again if I can find another option... but...
Ok. Just so we have a clean slate and level playing field.
I re-installed the generic SE GB 2.3.3 using SEUS.
The default home launcher is "Sony Ericsson Home" version 1.0.A.1.5
I then gained root access using FlashTool ZergRush exploit.
Enabled WiFi and downloaded ES File Explorer from Google Play Store.
Setup network access to my NAS and copied over the three widgets provided in the zip file.
Place the three apk Widgets in /system/app/ and enabled permission of wr-r--r--
Rebooted the phone.
AND........ Nothing.
The apk Widgets still can not be installed on GB 2.3.3 using "Sony Ericsson Home" launcher version 1.0.A.1.5
When one attempts to install the Widget(s) as a test from /system/app, the WeatherWidget says "Installing..." and then returns "Application not installed"
OK. So had a bit of a tool around with Root Explorer and had a read on the WeatherWidget Manifest and it indicates version 2.0.A.0.7 of the Weather Widget.
So... where to from here...
I'm not giving.. up.....just yet.
Last thing that comes to my mind is to go to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1526284 and download the flashable zip that includes all the xperia s apps ported from 2.3.7 to work on 2.3.3.

Well colour me pink and call me Barbie, that worked!!!
Again, a bit sceptical when I peered into the zip and saw things like TVLauncher and etc, which I have on my XPERIA S 4.0.4
But, dropped down to xRecovey and installed the zip and rebooted.
Booted up to Sony Ericsson logo and it 'hung'. Figured because there's a large number of apk being updated I'd give the Dalvik cache time to do it's thing...and then 'bing'(after a couple of minutes)...login screen.
The home launcher is now using "XPERIA Home" version 2.2.A.0.14
The Weather Widget is version 2.0.A.0.7, accessible and working.
I would postulate that there is a required synergy between the widgets and the Home launcher and that a prerequisite has to be met for all to work together.
Everything appears to be working with no observed impact to my DooMKernel v6 features.
However, the zip overwrites my build.prop which is a bit of a worry.
I see a lot of the old favourite 'tweaks' in the zip provided build.prop so it's not all bad, but need to check the good stuff LoRDDooM supplies is not removed.
The first visual thing I noted is that the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10i does not support 16M colour and thus some of the subtle colour gradient/blending is lost. The 'hue' above the home launcher icons at the bottom of the screen is a solid colour block.
I may now have to see if I can do a mix and match with some of the apps in the zip and those I don't need.
I'll update my first post with provided solution and a few thoughts on what I've done to modify the provided zip for my environment.
All the nit picking aside, it works and that's what I was look for.
So a BIG thank you Denie46 for hanging in there and helping me out. Much appreciated.
Restore the original Battery Status display in launcher
I have been playing with the XPERIA S imported home launcher with Weather Widget and have not found any immediate show stoppers.
The additional applications, upgrades and settings/features out weight any of my specific nit picking.
However, as a direct result of installing the "XPERIA Home" launcher version 2.2.A.0.14, I have lost the "extended" battery status display.
My battery status display only shows the following core items:
Display
Cell Standby
Wi-Fi
Phone idle.
Is there a way to restore the "original" battery status display which would also show the applications which are the highest battery resource users?
I have read right through the original post relating to the XPERIA S Home launcher port and have not noted any related battery display status information.
On my XPERIA S using "XPERIA Home" launcher version 4.0.3.A.0.13, I would also see applications such as:
Maps
Opera Mobile
Kaiten Mail
etc
Where the above would at times be seen in the highest battery users.
I don't really want to have to install additional applications to provide information I have lost with the XPERIA Home launcher update.
I already have the paid application "System Panel" which, when history monitoring is enabled, does provide additional information about top application use. However if one doesn't have to enable additional resources to monitor battery use, then this for me, would be the ideal approach.
I run a pretty lean system with only 125 system apps and 145MB memory available when background processes are purged.
I just don't have the expertise at this time to be able to correct/modify the battery display using the ported XPERIA S home launcher on to the XPERIA X10i and display "olde worlde" battery display status.
I do fear this is no small fix, but figure there is no harm in asking.
Again, any help is appreciated.
Hi again,
i believe that all the battery usage stuff is related to SystemUI.apk and framework-res.apk, plus i don't think it worth it to modify these apps if i'm right. But you can try something easier - download again the rom you're using and extract from it "app" folder which is located in "system" folder. Take all the apps except weather widget, widget picker and home.apk and flash them in system/app on your phone. Try the same for framework-res which is located in system/framework. This way you should be able to see the old battery usage style. Before doing anything make a backup of your current rom.
I am still impressed with what you can do with an XPERIA X10i and an infinite number of monkeys. :silly:
CM10 v5.1
I did a clean install of CM10(scritch007) with v5.1 ROM and was able to installed the XPERIA Home launcher and the Weather Widget.
I installed the XPERIA T mod'd XPERIA Home launcher which provides a raft of options along with home and application screens with modifiable columns/rows. (number of application icons that can be placed on a screen).
Good Points:
Jelly Bean with good support and improvements on CPU performance in many areas.
Many additional features not seen in the Stock GB environment. (screen capture and etc)
Considerations
No HW encoding for 720p mkv videos and some camera issues.
Support issues with some Google Play Store applications when using Android v4.1.2
Some CPU based benchmarks (Geek Bench 2) do not see the improvements and score less than an overclock GB environment.
DonutHD v2,3
I did a clean install of DonutHD v2.3 with the pre-installed XPERIA Home launcher I was able to add the Weather Widget.
DonutHD v2.3 has the modifiable home and application screens where one can change the number of columns and rows on the screen.
I also installed DooMKernel v6 successfully on the DonutHD ROM v2.3.
Good Points:
GB v2.3.3 with VERY clean system app environment leading to good memory use and good XPERIA Home launcher
Considerations
Stock Music player lacks equalizer and other advance features from later phones not yet filtered down to the ROM.
Stock GB v2,3 with DooMKernel v6
Dropping back to the stock GB v2.3.3, I installed the XPERIA S mod'd Home launcher pack which includes additional support for other applications and features. XPERIA Music player with equalizer for example...and etc.
Noted that now the battery status does display applications beyond the core display items.
Installed DooMKernel v6 and everything was still seen to be working.
Built out the operational environment and with Weather Widget active, no functions were lost which I required in my environment.
Good Points:
XPERIA S mod'd Home launcher with Weather Widget and many features from later phones
Considerations
Stock GB v2.3.3 so you'll have to clean the system app environment and modify the system yourself to get what DonutHD already gives you.
XPERIA S Mod'd XPERIA Home Launcher adds some bulk which you have to pare down yourself. This version of the Home Launcher does not support configurable column/row screens.
Summary.
After all that I'm almost back to my initial system configuration with the addition of the XPERIA S mod'd home launcher and Weather widget.
GB v2.3
DooMKernel v6 @ 1.152GHz
XPERIA S Mod'd Home Launcher with enhanced default applications
Weather Widget.
Battery stats with applications showing battery use.
140MB Free memory when background processes are purged.
This is just an indicator as the system by it's nature will re-populate memory (RAM) with other apps, until it's max threshold before swapping is reached again.
AnTuTu Benchmark score: 2936 @ 1.190GHz
720p mkv movies playing with HW encoding streamed from a NAS with no lag. Using MX Player Pro and BSPlayer.
OpenVPN client
PPTP client
Samba Filesharing
CIFS remote folders mounted locally
Encrypted files remotely access from the NAS via CIFS
All Good. Now happy..... I think....at least for a few weeks.

Weather Widget displaying the weather used on XPRRIA devices around the world stopped working on or about 02-JAN-2013.
Accuweather.com team is working on resolving the problem. See Sony forum.
There is nothing that can be done to resolve the problem yourself without Sony or AccuWeather providing additional information.
[Solved]
Sony/Accuweather Weather Widget now working again.
This may have had something to do with the URL that is used to source the weather data.
i hope there that works on CM10
