the stuff ive read says verizon and att do not get the 50gb

that sucks!!: https://www.dropbox.com/help/297/en

I just went to a T-Mobile booth on launch day, logged into Dropbox on their demo phone, logged out and cleared all data, then the next day I had an e-mail saying I was awarded the 50GB :victory:

Did you have to do anything else on dropbox's site?

just read more in to this, you only get the space for 1 - 2 years so why bother. JUST use google drive, if you convert your files to there file type it does not use the allocated space. But music, vids, etc do. Which is fine I just want it for pdfs, files, etc...

Nope, I just signed in, browsed for a minute, then logged out and went into settings > app > cleared data. I got the notification within 24 hours.

It's a 2 year promo, but they will probably have another promo within those 2 years. Google Drive only gives 5GB I thought?

google drive is 5gb but I have the 80gb for $20 a year... I just like the feature in drobox where it syncs all your pictures as you take them.

I prefer the software and ease of use with Dropbox, as Drive tends to be more cumbersome. There's also more third party integration such as TiBu or Dropsync.

yeah agree... I think I have about 15 gb of space from referrals. I just wish we got 50 gb of space off the bat when getting the SN2

Someone who had AT&T version said they got free 50gb, so not sure why Verizon wouldn't

Next time you go to the mall swing by the T-Mobile, Sprint, or US Cellular store and log into Dropbox, not many people seem to know about this little trick
I have 57GB through various promotions.

That's awesome.... a bit shady, but I think I'll go try and do that this weekend!

still have the 25gb from htc, but more space is always nice.

How does having Sprint or being grandfathered in on a Verizon data plan help anyone with the AT&T SGS2?
Amazon's cloud player is also very nice. Which one is better really comes down to personal preference. They do almost all of the same stuff.

this may have already been stated, but i feel so strongly about it that i'm replying before i finish reading. cloud computing is going to fail because of companies taking away unlimited plans. the main time a person would need to use cloud computing would be while they are mobile, and with tiered data plans, why would you risk it? if you're just a person at home with a prehistoric hdd too small to fit your music, then i can see how it would be useful. i have enough space to store 1000s of mp3s and flacs, and would get more use out of a micro sdhc/sdxc than cloud computing. Apple, Amazon, and Google all need to get together and offer unlimited mobile data, or convince VZW, ATT, and anyone else to revert if they want this to work. even my cable ISP occasionally sends me a postcard about how my account has used above average data, and i should check my wifi security and use anti-virus/anti-malware. i keep reminding them about hd quality streaming, lossless audio (that i paid for), youtube, and the year we are in, then tossing it in the trash. cloud computing is a nice idea, but i wouldn't put money into it. it's going to get to where you have to pay every company for every mb you use if this continues.

Its great for someone who is on wifi and dosent want to carry around 32 gigs of music around on their phone. Its also nice to have a digital copy backed up in the cloud in case your HDD ever decides to crash. To go even further, if you are a flashoholic and like to flash a lot of roms, then having all your music backed up to the cloud can be a nice way to quickly access your music.
It may not be for everyone in every situation, but most places have wifi and this will/has appealed to a lot of people.

i didn't really think of that because we don't have city-wide wi-fi where i live. at my university, you have to be on certain floors of certain buildings for open wi-fi. in West Virginia, we still use horse-drawn carriages.
Used it quite a bit yesterday, songs take 1-3 seconds to buffer and play when they aren't instantly loading and going... I'm a fan, not to mention my coverage is less than stellar.

Asus Webstorage vs. Dropbox, how is it?

I only have about 3.4gb of dropbox and i don't know enough people to pester to get 8gb.
What are most peoples thoughts on the asus web storage? 8gb for signing up seems great. If it sucks i don't want to waste any time transferring files.
it's not bad, works very similar to dropbox, and if you don't use the shared folder feature on db a lot, then it's going to work essentially the same for you.
mine says i have unlimited space, but i have no idea how that came about.

TRUE, but before one of the very early updates, you could get 1 year unlimited storage followed by 8GB free forever, obviously they rethought the logistics of this.
IME Dropbox is better able to handle off line cases, AWS has improved for a case like standing in an airport w/e free wifi. It also has a much more mature and natural Windows/Linux client then AWS.
If I was just using it as a digital locker, I'd use AWS for the really great price tag and offers avail when buying their newer models lol

Current use dropbox desktop app as i can just drag and drop and file instantly appears on my dropbox account. ASUS desktop app on the otherhand not as efficient. Files don't get upload instantly though currently ASUS cloud storage offers more space.
I have both as well. I only really use Dropbox though since I am used to it but it is nice to know I have 8GB sitting there waiting for me. I think the sharing in dropbox is slightly easier.
I only have 2.5GB in dropbox though. I think I have enough computers at work that I could make 27 or so dummy gmail accounts to get the 8GB but I haven't needed the space so I have never taken the time to try.. I am not sure if they would become suspicious by the sudden increase in my referrals. I don't know enough people who know or care about cloud storage to to get me there either.

50gb space on box.com if 8gb on asus web storage isnt enough for you
Is it just me or isn't dropbox working that good on the prime?
It won't let me upload documents in folders, (only the root dir) and i can't get to the dropbox file by using a file explorere, i gotta go into dropbox and press 'upload file' to get something there :/
(If the dropbox file is located in the file explorere, could someone enlighten me where and if root is required?)

i use AWS as the tablet app is nicely done but the uploading/downloading q is kind of weird.
I like Sugarsync for syncing offline folders on my prime. Drop box will do offline sync file-by-file but I am missing something if it will sync folders.
Skydrive is better than both.
i cant't log into asus webstorage on my PC because my ID is too long
it is really irritating because i want to use it.

It does for files: favorite them and they will stay synced where available + cached. For whole folders, not yet sadly.

Still a newby but I had this problem too, and came across a fix in the help files - think I had to download different version. Sorry cant be more specific, my head is spinning from trying to sort the other issues with my prime.
AWS does not work for me I've reinstalled, double checked everything but the files I place in the share folder do not show on my prime or the prime and on the PC...... I use drop box for now in till I can fig out AWS
I read bad things on their own forums about it deleting files. So I do not use it.
You can get so much dropbox space free these days or at low cost. I got 15gb cost me $10 using the adwords trick.
Using dropbox, got some free space because i have an HTC phone, the 5,5gb i have now are more than enough for what i need I dont need 2 systems doing one thing so i guess i'll stick for now.

[Q] 25GB of additional Dropbox space?

I already have 18.8GB of free space from Dropbox from referrals and tesing software. When I get my new HTC EVO 4G LTE, will Dropbox give my an additional 25GB of storage for a total of 43.8GB of storage? If not, I guess I will use a different email address. Anyone know?
Thanks
The leaked users guide says it will give you and additional 23gb (in addition to the 2 free gb they give everyone)
It has a time limit of 24 months too (fyi).
XDA Since 2007...
Is there a source for this?
yes it will give you ~40gigs for 2 years...at least it did for the apk that was released on xda until dropbox figured it out. i currently have 22.8GB on dropbox and it went up to almost 50 for a few days
What happens at the end of two years if you fill up all that data? Do they delete it all? Hold it hostage unless you pony up for a subscription?

Install the Dropbox app on the phone & login. That easy.
Better yet, go to an AT&T store & over to one of the HTC One X active models & try it today.
Just remember to uninstall it from the display phone afterward.

No, I believe the extra 25GB will be allocated when you register your account (new or existing) through the actual device.

I was having the same problem. Here is what I did:
- Go to www.dropbox.com/gs and make sure the steps were completed (mine already were).
- In the dropbox app, go to menu>settings>turn on camera upload>untick "upload existing photos and video (unless you want to upload them)> select the green "turn on" button.
-Wait about a minute until your account reflects the 23GB upgrade.
- Go back in and turn off camera upload (unless you want to use this feature. I personally use Google+ for this).
Nope, didn't work. Does anyone have the original Dropbox APK from the EVO LTE ROM? I want to so this from scratch.

Is there actually a Desktop application for this that integrates with Finder/Explorer? It seems like you have to upgrade and pay a monthly fee to use the official one on Mac/Windows ... which kind of makes 50 GB useless.

Looks like it could be OK, but really would prefer something official. It turns out you can just mount it as a network drive https://support.box.com/entries/20359428-does-box-support-webdav-or-ftp-connections. This seems to work quite well, but since it is a network drive it is noticeably slower than SkyDrives implementation.
There is a max file size of 100 MB, so this doesn't actually seem to be that useful as a backup solution. If you are just backing up your phone then this is probably OK...but the other free solutions like Dropbox seem like better alternatives.

How to activate 4 month youtube premium?

I follow the instructions to get YouTube Premium under my account - however only a 1 month trial offer is available. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? I also went to youtube.com/premium/samsung and get the same result - 1 Month. Please advise.
Thanks,
I believe if you ever had the 3 months free offer before, it won't let you use it again on the same email/I'd.
It was like the free 1 year onedrive offer that you would get with Samsung devices.
If you used it once it wouldn't let you get another unless you use a different email.

I know that when you first boot the app it offers 1 month...but I believe if you go into settings and select Get Youtube Premium it offers more. What's weird is that I thought it was 4 months as well. Maybe the 2 offers stack? I wont be redeeming the offer since I already have an account with premium.
