try updating it to 4.0.3 which has better battery performance
which rom did yu update to.
Som roms have alot of customizations which will run down the battery fast if not set to manual start. like email, sync and a few other apps.
Hey, what a wonderful help . Im using 4.0.1. I really got a feeling that my ROM drain my battery. To be honest , I have some knowledge about computer , could you simply guide a little bit on how I can switch my ROM from 4.0.1 to 4.0.3 ?

I just tried to update it by going to setting and hit software update and then it says the phone got the update file and tells me that the phone will be rebooted. However , after the booting it says the phone failed to update and suggested I use something like kies or visit Samsung Service center

Just ODIN the lastest Jelly Bean (4.1.1), not the 4.1.2 leak and you should be good to go
How to do it. . If done Odin, my device will be rooted or not?? Sory for noob question I am totally new to Android
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
flashing stock 4.1.1 via Odin won't root your phone
but don't flash 4.1.2 coz it is pre-rooted

i have a rooted and custom rom-ed galaxy s2 running slim bean build 4. after i flashed this and rebooted my device, i noticed that i was not receiving any signal. after going into settings > about phone> phone status, i saw that there was nothing for the signal and carrier was unknown and the signal was at 0. i went into the contacts application and tried to see if my contacts show up....they dont. after clicking settings in it, it said that i could import contacts but the only option available was through my phone storage. shouldnt there be an option to import from sim?

Alright, so I had efs problem two days back. No imei and network. So I restored to stock and problem was sorted. But now if I try to install and i9100 based stock jb port, I end up with a black screen. Even other roms ported from i9100 cause the same problem. Any kind of help would be great.

Have you tried a diffrent battery??
Might be a hardware problem. But Samsung wont help since you messed up the software. Can you explain more in detail so we can know more about your situation?
Thanks.

i can't explain more because that hasn't been happening with me , it happened in my friend's hands and he said that
He pulled the battery out without shutting down the device and when plugged in the phone haven't been recognising the sim card then it doesn't want to boot up at all , when he gave it to me to try to fix , i plugged it in charge and it booted for 3 or 4 secs showing " battery is charging " image , i tried to flash stock rom via odin but that haven't helped at all , i hope i'm clearer now

No one wants to help you?
Let me try. Download stock firmware from samsung mobile, find a proper drivera, uninstall Samsung Keis,if you have one and flash stock firmware with Odin. Since you are already in download mode, just connect the phone when you do all the above.
If something goes wrong,write here

I don't think so. There are some software for sure that can do that( mostly paid ones) but i think it's lost cause.
The problem is that you flashed the new firmware, you didn't perform factory reset.
