does this mean that we can see custom kernels soon? or do we need s-off for that?

I believe we can flash custom kernels with S-ON just not in recovery, we'll have to use fastboot (which really isn't a big deal).

You can flash a custom kernel through fastboot. So S-OFF isn't needed

Say hello to overclocked kernels and goodbye to great battery life.

isn't the DNA already doing a great job of managing things? Curious to see if the great xda devs can improve it further.

I have made a few attempts to build a kernel tonight, all build fine, but none boot.
I tested the one posted by Zarboz, it does not boot either.
I MSGd HTC to see if the code was bad.
Waiting to hear back.

Same. Beats even works over BT streaming.

Best ROM out of these?

Hey everyone! I'm so glad that full root is finally out! Now all I have to do is install a ROM. I've narrowed it down to these 4. How would you rank them?
Synergy
MikG
Shooter Rewind
Viper Rom
Or is there a better ROM out there? Thanks a million!!!!
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA Premium App
no such thing as a best rom or kernel...its whatever works best for you and your device. try them all out and see which one YOU like the best.
well Im using the shooter rewind ROM currently. But it isn't that great.

So then try Synergy, why bother asking? I stayed away from Synergy since its in nightly phase and would rather flash a release candidate.
but I heard it wasn't as stable and fast as MikG. maybe I should wait too for the release candidate. hope it doesn't take too long.

I suggest you flash every single rom that is available, as soon as it's available. Sometimes you may find yourself flashing 2 or 3 roms in a day, because a new one is released as soon as you just flashed one. But that's okay. You'll learn which developers you like, and which roms work best with your phone. You'll also spend way too much time with your phone, and make your gf/wife hate you...but that's okay...we all do it....sort of..
Bare naked ROM ftw

it is! I can't seem to handle that Lagless rom, its just too snappy for me. Plus, battery life is great, who the heck wants that? i wish he'd make it choke/glitch more often and add more bloat i don't need... sheesh..
FTW Viper
EDIT: Lagless and battery life are due to the OC Daemon implemented... i recommend NOT installing a different kernel and NOT using SetCPU(as stated in the thread with OC Daemon)

Best over/underclock app for Amaze?

Hey all,
There are a good amount of choices on the marketplace now for overclocking and underclocking.
I've never had to use an app on my Nexus One running CM7.1 because it came with the ROM.
Anyone have experience with the Amaze specifically and these apps?
When I read through the comments on market, it seems like every cpu app works with varying results depending on what brand/model phone you have.
Figured I would ask XDA peeps before purchasing or even trying an app that could cause some serious issues with my amazing Amaze

Its not useless. Setting the Max Freq to something lower truely saves juice
We actually could overclock without source by using kernel modules, but that's not really the best way to do it. I'd rather wait for a custom kernel.

THIS is what will need to happen to truly take advantage of OC/UV.
SetCPU has been my standard for a while now.

Kernels

So I just flashed team venom's latest rom and I'm having problems loosing data. Hoping changing the kernel will fix it. Any ideas on a good kernel? Thanks!
There are no custom kernels for ICS. Try reflashing the rom or try a different rom

This is not entirely true. I'm using this kernel and haven't had any data issues that I can tell. I've changed my radio to only take LTE/CDMA only since I get 4g all the time, but havnt seen any drops.

Meh, battery life is for razor maxx users. I like performance. there's another kernel over in the mikmik forums (or maybe it was the BAMF forums now that I think about it) but it didn't work on ics sense 4, didn't try it on a sense 3.6 ics...although I'm sure it wouldn't make a difference. Theres nowhere that I've seen in the post where it says what its for. My guess is GB roms though.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk 2
Yeah probably GB. HTC hasn't released source for ics, so making custom kernels is really difficult and almost impossible to get stable so that's why there are no custom kernels for ics

Best kernel

Well I finally unlocked and rooted my DNA.I am very happy with stock Rom but just want a great battery saving kernel ..Can someone please recommend a good one ..appreciate it .thanks

Best thing to do is download a good ROM like Hatka DNA. I too just rooted and unlocked my brand new DNA after psyching myself up to risk bricking a very expensive phone
But if you just want a nice kernel, im hearing good things about beastmode and cubed.
Thanks buddy

LK Kernel is the most "stable" kernel. Originally, you asked for the best kernel for "battery saving" ... LK's kernel meets that requirement.
But if you want the ability to OC, you can try the Cubed kernel from DSB. But that is not going to be as stable right now, because it had a lot more features to it.

had my fun, going back to stock. Cubed is excellent but i cant have a SoD while im at work our out and about. I'll still be flashing for dsb to help him bug swat.
I'm using LK's kernel and I've noticed my standby battery time has increased by at least 40%. I can't say how much it helps with heavy usage. If you're looking for overclocking, tons of governors, voltage settings, etc. I would wait for DSB to finish his new Cubed remake.
