Use odin to flash the kernal or if your phone is rooted cwm.
You can find odin in intratec official firmware thread inthe developmemt section

CWM Stock 2.3.4 kernel?

Hi I currently have the newest version of Entropy's Daily Driver kernel installed, I'm on 2.3.4 stock rom. Is there a CWM 2.3.4 stock kernel that I can flash? Any help would be great.

Why would you want stock over Entropy's? Entropy's is vastly superior...

You actually want to go to creepy's download repository. It's there.

The stock kernel in my Download Repository is bone stock.
The only stock kernel with ClockworkMod Recovery that I know about is the one prepared by codeworkx on Oct 2, the day the phone was released. Find it here.

I don't believe there is a CWM flashable zip of just the stock kernel. I only packaged the stock kernel into a tar because people wanted to remove the yellow triangle with it. But you can flash the tar with odin, no worries about the flash counter or yellow triangle. Or with Mobile Odin. Or you can flash the zImage with terminal, or with adb.

You should read codeworkx OP. He says it is compiled from sources. This was posted on October 2, so I don't think the sources were from at&t, but probably modified by codeworkx from I9100 sources. I'm not a developer myself, so I might be missing some info here.
But I do not think his kernel is one pulled from the I777, so it is questionable whether it is exactly like a stock I777 kernel in every respect. As far as I know, there have not been any problems reported using it. You could read through the whole thread to check.

How do i go back to stock kernel

Hi my friend has sold his phone and needs to get back to stock kernel from siyah 4.1.5. Is this possible without use of pc.
Many thanks

I think you can use mobile ODIN and flash a new firmware there.
Thanks was hoping there was a simpler way as he only just managed to flash a rom. Is it possible to flash a stock kernel through siyah.
Thanks

23732 is right. But to make it more precise - open your stock TAR rom file in mobile odin (all partitons in the app will be filled in). Then clear all of them but kernel. Then flash only the kernel partition. No need to flash anything more to come back to stock kernel.

CyanogenMod kernels

Just curious if i can use the same kernel from CyanogenMod 7.2.0 in CyanogenMod 9.1

Anyone der to help me... I wanna flash my rom but am away from a pc... So cant flash kernel
Sent from my WT19i using xda app-developers app
I think it's better if you find a pc to use to flash it, 'cause you can't do it from it from the device itself if you don't know or don't have the recovery installed...
you can use but with minor edits to source
I have the recovero.... It seems informaciĆ³n will need to flash the kernel from pc..... Cause when i flashed Cm 9 without the kernel that came in it my phone got stuck in boot Screen....... Luckily i had a nandroid backup

i cant excatly guarantee for it to work because we need minor changes in source to fit in the different api so ... this just might be your case why not ask someone to upload the kernel for you
I guess the only way to flash it by using the kernel i got in the rom..... Btw thanx for the reply apprentiate it

You definitely can't use the CM7.2 kernel for CM9.1. There are a lot of differences between the two since one is GB based and the other is ICS based.
boot.img
please can anyone tell me in detail , what is boot.img for??????
Boot.img contains all the files required for the device to boot such as kernel and ramdisk. Without it, the device can't start. Boot.img when flashed, will copy all files to the /boot partition.

That's partially true. For example, ICS ROMs for my HTC Desire HD used the 2.6 GB kernel as there was no official ICS kernel update from HTC. But the 2.6 ICS kernels required a lot of hacks, forward ports from various ICS kernel branches and backports from GB to work with ICS. For lack of a newer kernel version, the 2.6 kernel was used, but it was very different from the 2.6 GB kernel. It took months of hacks and hard work for devs to get everything working on the ICS ROMs with the 2.6 kernel. After Jelly Bean was released, it would have taken a ton of work to get the 2.6 kernel to work with it and not everything would have worked properly. Fortunately, Team Virtuous made a custom 3.0.xx kernel for the Desire HD all on their own, effectively making any kernel update from HTC's side useless, even if they did choose to release it. Another dev took this kernel and improved upon it like hell, and now we have perfectly working 4.2.1 Jelly Bean.
Of course, I might not be fully right about this because I'm no developer, but I've been following the ICS and JB threads for my phone for a long time and this is the way development was for it.

[Q] Rooted 4.0.4, Can't find a kernel with CWM or custom recovery?

Hello, I have recently rooted my Samsung Galaxy S2 SGH-I777 running Official 4.0.4. I used a one-click method to root the phone(yes, root is working), and now i am having trouble finding a flashable kernel that has a custom recovery baked inside. I found siyah kernel, and many other kernels, but they only come in downloadable .zip files. I cannot flash these because i do not have a custom recovery to flash the .zip from and Odin doesn't flash zips. I read on another thread to rename the zImage file and put .tar at the end and to flash through Odin, but this didn't work.
Are there any kernels that would work for my phone that i can find in a .tar file to flash through Odin? or is there another way to get a custom recovery onto my rooted S2 so i can flash ROMs?
Thank you for your time.

You should be able to pull the zimage from the flashable zip and flash the zimage with mobile Odin. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong here... It's been a while.

With mobile Odin? And just using only the zimage file? Meaning I won't have to type in the .tar extension?

One more question to you Ninja, when downloading Siyah kernel, v4.3.3, is it best to download with or without micswap if i am planning on flashing jellybam? I know it will be easy to tell once I get feedback from whoever I call, and easy to fix by flashing the opposite, but just trying to save time. Thanks in advance.

If you're just going straight to jellybam then it doesn't matter, since when you flash the rom it will flash it's own kernel with it.

Micswap for JellyBam. Without is only for ROMs built from i777 bases.
