Hi,
I'm a noob here and I have just bought a HTC Desire X, however I really dislike Sense UI, is there any way to get rid of it.
Or, are there any barebones Android ICS, or Jelly Bean ROMs or similar that will work on my phone?
Thanks! Don't understand a lot of the posts in this forum so sorry if there is one but I just haven't understood that it exists!
Thanks.
Hi and welcome FabM!
Unfortunately, for the time being there is no unofficial ROM available,
We hope that as the Desire X community grows bigger, more devs will come and more ROMs will be released.
Concerning the Sense UI, you could use a third party launcher if you want to stop using it.
The most common ones are Go, ADW, Nova and Apex.
You can download them from Play Store, if you want to test them.

Hi
I am only getting this phone because it is the best specification phone I haven't tried the touch Whizzo but HTC make the best software but not phones unfortunately
So I am asking will any1 be able to port sense HD?

Well I've made a Sense theme for CM7, so as soon as the Galaxy S2 gets CM7, which I'm sure will happen fast, you can use the theme on it... far easier than porting a sense rom. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=11660869
edit: then again, you still won't have sense app enhancements and stuff, but something is better than nothing right?
why does everyone want this.. the phne is not even out yet.. if you really want sense go buy a htc phone ad quit whinning.
thanks for the theme,
and yeah i do have a htc phone but this samsung galaxy s 2 has the best specs than any htc phone so this phone combined with htc sense will be a beast!
Does any one think this can happen?

Sense is overrated.
Yes you should be able to use HTCs Sence UI because Exynos is using NEON whereas Tegra2 doesnt.
Depends which 1 phones 4 u supplies because there are to versions

Meh, I was never too fond of Sense. Using my friend's Inspire for a few minutes though, I found that it was nicer than all of the other stock launchers.
I didn't like not being able to edit the total number of screens though.
I too, am interested in this. It gives people options so why not port Sense over? I want to see whether they can port all those cool features over like flipping their phone over to silence a call or ringing louder in a bag.
What about sense 3.0 the sgs2 with the new sense will be amazing

No please not the disney version of sense.
Don't get me wrong, but those colors on the sensation....brrrr..... welcome to disney.
I would really love to see a Sense port but it will be very hard to port it... the only successful ports are for devices with identical specs - example Sense from Desire on Nexus One...
There was a port for the Galaxy S but it had too much things that don't work and were very hard to solve (as Sense and drivers are not open source)...
Loved sense on windows mobile especially combined with the white GTX theme on my hd2,
but can't say I'm a big fan of it on android. Weird, I know, or maybe not so weird,
since I like a minimal clean look better, not screens cluttered with widgets.
Am tied in between in getting a sensation or sgs2 hardware wise galaxy s 2 wins but HTC sense is far better than touch wiz that's why we need a port

I'd like to see a sense port. However only for the sake of having a bigger variety of roms to flash.
I found that when I had my Inspire that Sense was way to bloated for me. I gave it a fair shot but for now I prefer TW over Sense. But AOSP > Any carrier software.
I would just stick with TouchWiz or go for AOSP if possible. Sense looks cool and all, but a port is as easy as it seems. More so, theming will be the solution for time being.

Actually this is false http://www.xda-developers.com/android/nexus-s-gets-a-desire-s-port-and-sense/
Hi there, recently my dad bought a Samsung Galaxy10.1 tablet and wants me to root it. We are both owners of HTC phones (HTC Wildfire S & HTC Rezound) and have grown to like the Sense UI. he has requested that along with the root I install Sense but I dont think this is possible as Sense was not developed for a tablet.
My question is this: Is it possible to put a Sense 3.0/3.5 UI on a Samsung Galaxy10.1? If so, how is it done?
Thanks ahead of time for all responses.
I don't think that's possible yet. If it were possible it'd most likely come in the form of a rom

Yeah that was kinda my thought. Does anyone no if there has been a case where Sense was put on a non-HTC device, though?
nope. not happening bro.
Anyway isn't sense in a way copyright??

Barf....
Try finding a sense like launcher.

Sense is:
1) Extremely difficult to port
2) Developers have little desire to do it anyway since it's incredibly bloated compared to Touchwizz (which isn't so hot either, but it sucks less than Sense) - Although actually, Touchwizz was a slight improvement on HC 3.1 - but it's a step backwards on ICS. CM9 is slick... Even with the intermittent battery life regressions I'm still running it.

As far as I know the only way to get the whole SenseUI is to get the GoLauncherEX theme Then again it's just skin replacement.
I'm sure you all know Google Keyboard is out in the play store. However it is telling me it is incomatible with my device. Stock JB Rom, Not rooted... Anyone else try it?

It's probably a version problem when Google put it on the store.
It's not compatible with my DX on Sense JB rooted.
However...
It's not compatible with my Nexus S so... I supposed it's the same error that Google+ get on a update.
Last month, a Google+ update change the application as not compatible with other Android versions than 2.2 and 2.3.

I have 5 devices here, compaitble with 3 of them. Weird. What a terrible mess of an OS android has become. It makes development very unpleasant at times, especially at a higher (Java) level. Most of the advantages of Linux are absent (RAM management is comparatively poor due to it being a battery powered device) and a lot of the ease of development of iOS is also gone as you have to lower your SDK version way down as many people are on previous versions.
It's only a keyboard, but it highlights a lot of my annoyances with Google, kotowing to the carriers, to the manufacturers and the complete lack of consistency.
I used to hate iOS then gradually the niggles in Android got very annoying, and I'm leaning more and more towards it as I go! Apple's aggressive favouring of user experience is annoying sometimes for a developer but for daily use for an end user it is far superior.

I won't! Couldn't bring myself to pay an extra hundred bucks for apple branding. Their products are decent but the prices are a bit insane! Windows 8 phones are surprisingly pleasant to use too. I'm all for more competition in the market to push some innovation and try to drive the prices down!
Ross can share the apk of the keyboard (from any supported device)? Wanna try it out before they fix it (if they'll fix fast as hangouts then we have more than a week...) Tnx

I've headed into work, only have the DX with me at the minute sorry. The apk will not load on the DX if sideloaded anyway, unfortunately. Good old HTC removing functioinality with nothing added. Again. Sorry. I'll have a look around online for one, I'm sure it's out there.

Same here yeah. Things not working on a HTC / Android device is becoming the norm lately
its on xda already, just download and install
works perfectly for me, no problems at all, im still on ics btw

Parsing error in jelly bean still. Hmmmmm.
Works for me on JB, but uninstalled it because SwiftKey is just so much better. SwiftKey seems to be the only option which suggests a world while your swiping, the others only suggest after you've swiped. It makes it so much quicker.
And I'm also stock JB rooted...
Using SwiftKey myself! Not too bad.
what are u talking about. i downloaded the google keyboard from play store on my stock ics desire x and use it with no problem.

dont try to be smart now, you do know at least 2 people in this thread saying the keyboard works on jb
But not for many others. There is an issue that's all I'm saying. Works on my s4, s3, nexus. Not on stock in here from play store. Bugs on my HTC one also.
You were bring smart first too, doesn't work i asked the question out of curiosity. No bother on other devices for me. 2 people sitting beside me have same issue.

Hey all,
I just wanted to gather everyones opinions on Sense 4+ vs an ONE X+ without sense. What has been your reason to desense or keep sense on your device? I'm asking for opinions here because I want to see what the main difference is between the two and I want you're input in the subject. Thanks!

ATT X+'s have no choice but to stay on sense right now
Pure Vanilla is awesome
Sense is not bad at all comparing to tochwiz skin but pure vanilla is soo fast and soo sweet..........!!!!!!!!!!!
I believe its a truly personal choice.
On my DS - I always used AOKP ROM or other AOSP based ROMs...
But as of now - I have no issues with Sense ROMs on HOX+ .... It has enough muscle and RAM to chew up whatever Sense throws at it. And you can't deny the fact that Senese IS an eyecandy .
Never faced any lag or anything in any of the Sense based ROMs I have tried on my HOX+...

I thought. Is it because the ATT version doesn't have S OFF yet? I don't mind sense. I just wanted input. I wanna try pure vanilla one day. Google nexus don't really catch my eye tho. HTC all the way!

None of the X+'s have S-OFF and it's an issue with incall routing (mic and earpiece not activating during phone call)
otherwise you guys would have had a rom months ago
not so long ago i ve found a "desensing" thing in an other HTC device's forum (here on XDA) but i can't remember the program s name nor the device s name... :/ maybe Desire S (or HD) i used twice on Sense 4+ cause it was kinda laggy, after it was prety smooth!
the program had the abbility to erase some sense or all of it and maybe a third possibility, it was blue and whit and had to be run via recovery.
if anybody knows this [email protected] name let me know!!!

Rom Cleaner of course!

I've had my One X+(Int) since January and kept it with sense until a WK ago using the venom ROM, and I must admit I was happy with it when I'd compare it to my old Desire.
There wasn't much in the way of lag and it felt snappy enough in day to day use.
However in the past WK since swapping to a CM ROM its like a new phone. Lightening quick, never a hint of lag and with proper multi tasking. I don't know if every one else had this problem but with the stock ROM and with Venom if you changed between apps with more than a minute or two time lapse the app would have to reload. Where as now, on CM, if you swap between apps they're waiting for you exactly as they were. Proper multi tasking.
I'm firmly in the vanilla android camp.

I found Sense 4+ < AOSP < Sense 5 for speed.
To add, this is my perception in everyday use, not benchmarked scientifically.
Sense 4+ was Viper and stock HTC. AOSP was CM. Sense 5 by Insertcoin.
Will we get the stock Android without Sense from the recently announced unlocked HTC One to the DNA? Is it possible?
The version on the Google edition of the One isn't as stock as you would think. There was an article on XDA about how it isn't recieving updates from Google (instead its coming from htc). As well it is much larger than one would think compared to nexus versions of 4.2. I would say stick with CM10.1 to get the best AOSP experience.
Here is a link yo the article
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/google-editions-lackluster-or-leading-edge/
Hope this helps you in understanding why some developers will mist likely never want to port the ROM.
