I am aware that they are not compatible but I have a question about the bands. So AT&T and Verizon use the same 700MHz but the bands are different. Verizon uses Band 13 and AT&T uses Band 4 and 17. Are the bands strictly hardware only? Or can you add a mod where it can pickup AT&T LTE?

I grabbed that fast! (;
When I pop in the sim from my One X into the DNA the data icon constantly cycles between H+, H, and 3G. I've added an AT&T APN but it's still doing the same thing. Am I missing something?

Thanks for the tip, I had sent an eBay seller an offer of $700 last night. Luckily he didn't accept it and countered back at 730. Now I scooped it up for 600 from Amazn!

Not to rehash an old thread (well I did mean to)...but any updates on how this is working out on AT&T? I had a Nexus 4 running on the network here in Charlotte and wasn't too pleased with the speeds I was getting. Ran back to my One X real quick. But I'm ready to grab one of these I think.

As tony said, everything works but you only get edge speeds. I know because I am on T-Mobile. Its fine for web browsing and such, but don't expect any HQ YouTube.
Wish i had 3g at least, could care less about 4g, because i like the ATT version the best of the sgs2's. I knew this would happen before i bought it though. Maybe the merger will go through?

Just to expand on the others comments, that phone you mentioned has: Frequencies 850/900/1900/2100 (Quad band), whereas T-Mobile needs both 1700 and 2100. You need both because they use one for uploading and another for downloading.

No HSPA for Tmobile only EDGE for the DNA because Tmobile has to use 1700Mhz instead of 1900Mhz for UMTS...AT&T will get HSPA
Yes it will work, BUT, only in a select few cities that T-Mobile has already switched to 1900mhz. So I'd check if your area has switched to 1900 first or you will be stuck on edge.

I was using Solavei (MVNO of T-mobile) and in the video link below, you can see my SpeedTest.net test. From Houston as well, but towards the outskirts. My apt has about half the signal strength of surround areas for every carrier. Not a complete dead zone by far though.

My secondary phone is a Galaxy Nexus with the $30 prepaid plan from T-Mobile. I live in the Mundelein / Vernon Hills area of Illinois. If I run speed test on my Nexus right now (doing it as I type this) I get the following download results:
T-Mobile Galaxy Nexus:
1st Test: 7.2Mbps
2nd Test: 6.1Mbps
3rd Test: 4.2Mbps the third time. Kind of afraid of running it a fourth time the way it's going. . .
4th Test: 5.8Mbps
If I put my SIM card on the DNA (actually shows a H logo which I'm guessing is for HSPA) here are my results:
T-Mobile Droid DNA
1st Test: 3.7Mbps
2nd Test: 5.0Mbps
3rd Test: 5.4Mbps
4th Test: 5.0Mbps
Just for fun here are my results with Verizon LTE:
1st Test: 3.7Mbps
2nd Test: 3.162Mbps
3rd Test: 2.8Mbps
4th Test: 7.2Mbps
Normally I do get much better LTE speeds than that but that's what I got today. Just for the record, at no point did I change any settings anywhere, I just switched the SIM cards.

"T-Mobile USA launched HSPA+ service in its 1900 MHz spectrum in 10 additional markets including Miami; Phoenix; San Francisco; Mesa and Tucson, Ariz.; Modesto, Oakland, San Jose and Stockton, Calif.; and Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Hello guys,
The Straight Talk service on my HTC One DEV had been decreased significantly since I reactivated it last month. Enough 0.16Mps download speed for me, so I decided to return the Dev version (due to some minor physical imperfections) and got a T-Mobile version.
As I read on the forum, the T-Mobile version of the One has all the bands that AT&T version doesn't. With military discount, I pay roughly 60 bucks per month for unlimited everything (only 15 bucks more from what I pay with Straight Talk). So this is a good deal for me.
Hopefully I have made a right choice

Yes, when switching carriers you will need to manually add the APN if the SIM card didn't automatically do it for you.

The final answer is yes. The AT&T HTC One and the international/developer edition are exactly the same. Both support the frequencies used by T-Mobile. However, if you're not in a refarmed area listed here, then you won't be getting HSPA+. You'll get calls, text, MMS, but restricted to 2G as far as data goes until your towers are refarmed.
There are alot of threads on this topic in this forum as well as on the international/developer forums supporting this.
I had been getting speeds well over 20mbps on my Nexus 4... cracked the screen this weekend and connected an unlocked HTC One, from AT&T. I'm getting 5mbps now. I changed the settings as the OP did.
I am wondering if the speed reduction is due to the new phone, or because I recently switched from a "Unlimited" (with 5gigs of unlimited data) contract plan to a truly unlimited month-to-month "uncarrier" plan.
I made the change on Monday or so of last week, and within 24-48 hours was having poor/limited reception in my home and nearby, in my town, which I previously NEVER had issues in.
@OP- How did you go about getting yours unlocked? I'm trying to unlock mine to make it more valuable on craigslist and AT&T said that someone will get back to me by the 9th, which won't work for me.

So does that mean it's capable but Verizon hasn't enabled it? I'm not sure how I'd tell the difference on my end. My speeds are hit and miss in the Chicago area, but I figure that could be just because of the population density.

There's an AWS thread in the Verizon S4 section where people are reporting where they are getting band 4 lte. You can check there to see if anyone from Chicago has AWS. There's also instructions on how to check if your on band 4, you can probably check it the same way on this phone.

Yeah I think that's just for Sprint. It does nothing on my Verizon One max.

There is a way to do it on Verizon with script manager I believe.
Installed the new radio only on my Verizon Max. Can't say it is particularly faster ( based on speed tests). It keeps starting at 60 Mbps for upload then hangs and drops to about 5 Mbps final. Maybe its my firewall or any other number of protective mods I have going on my Max.

Actually the Samsung method doesn't work for us. It relies on a code that is specific to Samsung (*#0011# ). I tried *#*#4636#*#* but it did not seem to do anything on my One max unfortunately.

The *#*#4636#*#* works if you make the edits in build.prop Then you can make the change that enables the different networks.

What are the edits to make the menu appear in build prop
In build.prop change or add these if they dont exist
ro.ril.gprsclass=14
ro.ril.hsdpa.category=14
ro.ril.hsupa.category=7
ro.ril.hsxpa=2
ro.telephony.lteOnGSMDevice=1
ro.telephony.default_network=9
Also open the /system/customize/ACC/default.xml file, is a boolean variable “sku_id”. Change the value of “sku_id” to the t-mobile one.
The t-mobile one is 11
Then save the file, and reboot your device.
Anyone confirm this working. This is like a urban myth among st phones..
This it's golden if working
enscribed on an HTC One Max

I have gotten 4g LTE with this method I guess...I never did get the one value with the "sku id" (never could find it) so I downloaded an app from the play store called Network and just changed it, I would get LTE for about an hour then it would just crap out so I just use 3G and HSPA with the 1900 band.
I would be interested in knowing how to enable this. big red just turned on the 4g in my area with in the last year. so i am curious if they used a newer style tower capable of the band 4 or not,

If your max is rooted and have the SIM unlock you can access the 4636 menu(Testing Menu)
