I mean don't you guys feel like you can do a third of the things you will be doing with root I don't even care about ROMS at this point I just need root to :
play games with my PS3 controller wireless
wi-fi tether
backup apps with titanium backup
add more apps to the multiview app
use root explorer
and you can add to the list

Is this confirmed and stable on Verizon Note II?
We just have to be patient. I personally donated to two developers in order to help the cause. I bet less than a week we'll have root, like the other variants.
Fingers crossed.

Same Question
FoxFi works, but I have not found it as dependable as the rooted wireless tether apps.
One day it will work fine and the next day it will keep dropping the connection constantly.

Get
AdFree Android
Titanium backup, buy the FULL version, when you restore apps, its automated, with free version you got to click yes or ok a few times each app, if you have 70 apps, its really annoying!

+1 for ad-free...BUT with the release of the paid versions of Angry Birds it's not as important as it was to me, but still great for being able to put the Flash add-on to "always on" and not have to worry about Flash ads in the browser.

Plus it kills ads in many other free apps besides angry birds.
Great thread for us first time rooters//android users!
Thanks for the recommendations.
Anyone had trouble getting titanium backup to work? I granted it su permissions but it says 'Failed' to acquire root when the app starts.

It's an issue with superuser and the new version of sense. There's a fix for it somewhere here, I saw the link last night in the developer subforum

Very true, although I kinda hate killing ads in free apps. I prefer paid versions so we can be ad free and support the developer at the same time.. Angry Birds was an exception because I always get distracted by the darn ads being in the same area as the target.

You also need to be sure you are using the latest version of busybox for TitaniumBackUP....select the problems tab. Should give you the option to update busybox.

wifi tether app from the play store
I use this app and it works like a charm. It has everything basic you need plus the ability to password protect your tethered network.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.googlecode.android.wifi.tether
Also, alot of custom ROMs come with tethering apps in their setting or mod sections.

Odd...it works for me. Try using this website to get to it, or try searching for a WiFi tether app in the PlayStore, there are a million of them.

Anyone? The one posted above is not available on the play store. Even so I downloaded it and it still isn't working on the rooted verizon S4.
So im sitting here waiting for ME7 to get the bootloader to get unlocked so i can flash a custom rom but in the meantime my S4 is rooted, what are some cool things to do to it while i wait?

If you don't plan on ever flashing another rom again sure. I would say never take any OTA. You can flash the ME7 stock rooted build while still on MDK and still keep your device unlocked. Why someone would take the OTA knowing it will lock their device is beyond me.
I guess it's worth taking if it does something a custom ROM can't give you which isn't very likely. For me it's never worth losing custom recovery... period. That is like asking is a phone worth giving up unlimited data for... nope!

You can freeze/disable apps in the App Manager settings menu.
However you can't remove/uninstall apps without root permission.

Just wondering if this can be done without rooting?
You can add apps to multi window without the need of root access. You just won't be able to update them through Google Play
