I need help figuring out my APN for my Verizon HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE phone. I have AT&T and I have looked everywhere to find the info but no luck.
I don't need 3G data. I'm fine with sticking to Edge. All I want is to be able to use edge and make calls/txt
The previous phone I had was an unlocked sony xperia mini pro and it didnt come with any carrier. But this one is with Verizon and it's pissing me off so far. I've read that it is possible to call/txt and use edge with this phone on AT&T. So please don't say it is impossible. I have cut the SIM Card to a micro SIM and the phone successfully recognized it. All I see in the Network Setting > APNs is:
Internet
VZWINTERNET
Someone please guide me. I want an APN for AT&T , I would greatly appreciate it!

Thank you for your response jose. I have more questions if you don't mind me asking. You are talking about rooting the phone in order to update to sense 4.1 correct? Is there anyway I can get the gsm global thing working without rooting the phone? I heard about installing thunderbolt and getting the radio to detect gsm or global mode but I dont know what I read is exactly true.
When I turned on my htc phone for the first time, I didn't get any bar signal, and I still can't get any signal until now. Is this normal? Do I have to get it to connect to gsm or global mode in order for it to acquire a signal? I called at&t and the guy over the phone told me that it could be an issue that that my sim card is a 3G sim and outdated from the motorola razr phone that I used to own back then. Still I did cut the sim card into a micro sized one to get it to fit in... but do you think that the at&t rep was right about the sim card being old?
My apologize for being a newb at this, I'm a new HTC user but if I do have to root this phone, where can I find a step by step tutorial to do that? I have tried to search google but the only thing I found was an upgrade to sense 4.1 with htc evo... unless you can write a tut for me. You'll be helping lots of newbs like me!
EDIT: I read a sticky thread "[PLEASE STICKY] Software Update 2.17.605.2" and they mention that Verizon has updated the phone from
Android 4.0.3 to 4.0.4, and from Sense 4.0 to 4.1"
So can I go through this update using wifi by any chance? or does this still mean I have to root the phone?
EDIT 2: I tried turning on wifi and then going to software update > Status > but then the only thing I see is the Source: Verizon Wireless and the rest (name, status, code, etc) are all blank :/

Ok so all you have to do is ruu it, it wont update by wifi, you have to get the ruu package(full one about 500mb) and place it on microsd then take out battery and start phone by pressing power+volume down, it will detect file automatically and give you instructions, after updating sucessfully if you dont have the bars well the sim is old i had same problem on my country(costa rica) so had to buy new one
Pd:it wont update via wifi because it needs to be conected to cdma

Just to clarify... I dont have any ROM setup in my phone. It's still new out of the box. Now I searched the thread you mentioned and I found 2 links.
1.43.605.3 710RD - Credits to TMartin
2.17.605.2 - Credits to football
Now I am assuming I should download 2.17.605.2 because that is the update I am looking for to get my phone to update to sense 4.1 in order to be able to connect with at&t service. I downloaded 2.17.605.2 on to my computer and I hit run. Then an "HTC Android Phone ROM Update Utility1.0.6.2012" window pops up. Am I doing this right so far? because I cant follow your step when you said to run it and go to "c/users/yourusername/appdata/temp/"
Please help me clarify this jose

I renamed it and Im still getting the same menu screen and it says it is *locked* on the top.
Is there a specific place the zip file needs to be in in the microsd card? I just dragged and copied it to the microsd and like I mentioned before, the only thing in the microsd card is the PJ35IMG.zip file which is 569MB file size.
What am I doing wrong?
I didnt go through the step by step utility like you said. I opened the utility so I can access the rom.zip file. What am I missing?

Hi,
I just got my first Android phone. I am running shipped 2.2 ROM from Vodafone Australia. I have connected it to wifi and it shows up as ANDROID_XXXXXXXXXXXX in the connected device list. How do I change that name?
I have changed the bluetooth device name already. Can I not change the wifi name?
TA.
You can't if you're not rooted. BTW B has a feature for this.
Sent from my HTC Legend
Thanks. I am not planinng to root it now as I am still getting used to it. For
me 99% of the stuff I need is already there and I am happy with it.
Now all I need is a decent file manager and a ZIP or RAR application which works on Android. I need to password protect some files so I figure I can use ZIP or RAR file and be done with it but I also want to manage files using file manager.

Well I actually guess now that we have unlocked bootloader, you could keep your stock rom, and unlock the boot loader and then change what you need to...
Previously you needed to root to change stuff. If you go to dev section you can find out how to unlock by reading the unlock thread

I have asked this question myself. and found the name CAN be changed settings>wireless& networks>portable Wi-Fi hotspot settings> and select Router Name(SSID)
I was not able to do this while hotspot was active. but i disabled the hotspot and then was able to rename the router (SSID) from the default Wildfire S that it was
I hope this helped.
Hi All,
I’ve just got myself a “bargain” from eBay that was advertised as unlocked but alas turned up with the sim lock on
I’ve contacted the Tmobile network in the UK and they will only send a code to a uk address and I am not there.
I have looked on this and other forums and seen that I could do it myself. I have rooted the phone and now have the yellow warning triangle on boot up. I also have CWM and Superuser icons in the Applications.
I have then tried to go onto the android app store to download Chainfires Galaxy S2 SIM Unlock. I then get the "There are no Android phones associated with this account" problem. Again I have looked at the solution to remove the phone number and re-enter it but this has not worked. I have tried several times.
I do not have Wifi and obviously can’t access the internet on the phone.
Is someone able to kindly send me the file in an email?
Once I have this done what else do I need to do to the phone? I’ve rooted it but only to the closest number I could find.
Thanks to XDA and all of you for reading this!
I'm a little slow so plese can you dumb it down... alot! ha ha
Phone: GT-I9100
Android version - 2.3.5
Baseband version - I9100BOKJ1
Kernel version - 2.6.35.7-I9100XWKE2-CL187606 [email protected] #2
Build number - GINGERBREAD.BOKK1
apk
That app only works on early version phones and may not work for you. If it doesn't you should try Helroz's Galaxy S Unlock app it works on all S II's but I believe it requires Internet to get a small payload. Which could be a problem for you unless you drive around for the first open WiFi.
It also doesn't give a code it just straight unlocks the phone.
Thanks. I have downloaded this to my computer. What do I now do with it?
I'm still lost... What do I do?
Please can anyone point me in the right direction!
Thanks
Place the app on your internal or external sdcard and install. Ensure you have enabled 'unknown sources' or something like it in the phone settings first. Allow it root access when prompted by the super user app.

Thanks for the quick reply,
The phone is brand new to me and I don't understand your instruction. I have downloaded the file and extraced the folders and files. I have then placed this onto the card. I then go into the phone and have ticked the unknown sources box. I then try to run any of the files and only get a "No applications can perform this action" error.
If I try to run AndroidManifest.xml it opens HTML viewer.
Anyone Please....
It's an apk, you weren't supposed to extract it. Apk files are android installation packages. Push the apk to your phone's sd card, and open it using the "my files" app to install.
Thanks again. I've done that. I can find the file eu.chainfire.sgs2simunlockcode.zip in My files. When I tap on it I get the message "Open file. No applications can perform this action"

You apparently somehow changed the file extension from .apk to .zip. Change it back.
I had to change the file extension from .zip!
I am not running the app and hopefully that will work. Wish me luck!
What else should I do to a new phone? Is there any way to get rid of the Tmobile startup screens?

You can flash a stock unbranded firmware... But it sounds as if you should read a lot more educational material before attempting this. Lots of good information is in the roll up sticky in the i9100 general section. Start there, and start reading. I can't offer you any shortcuts. Shortcuts tend to lead to frustration and bricked phones.
I have looked into other ways to unlock this phone...
How do I extract my nv_data.bin - I cannot find this file

1.) Download firmware for your model. There are firmwares for two available version: S7-931u and S7-931w, so choose the one you have.
2.) You will need an SD card to make firmware install/upgrade. Put SD Card into your SD card slot on your Mediapad 7 Lite.
3.) Connect your tablet to PC in MTP mode.
4.) BACKUP, BACKUP, BACKUP everything what is important to you and resides on internal memory of tablet (doesn't affect external SD card)
4.) Unpack downloaded firmware somwhere on your PC (e.g Desktop). You probably will have now folder update and instruction.pdf. Open PDF if you want to follow their guide - basically it is the same thing as my guide.
5.) Move or copy dload folder to the root of SD card (in PDF says "father" directory, but it actually root of SD card)
6.) Turn off tablet, put SD card (probably you didn't even take it out)
7.) Turn on tablet (if SD card is already inside or didn't start)
8.) Wait for "gears" Android logo - means it is in "recovery" mode.
9.) Wait for firmware upgrade to finish. (Says OK if finished, or FAIL if something went wrong)
10.) Tablet is probably going to restart itself couple of times.
11.) Adjust your initial settings and enjoy.
If unsure - follow PDF guide.
Hopefully, this will help you.
P.S. Just for the record, this is almost year old firmware so don't expect any miracles with this upgrade. Seems that no one at Huawei is interested in doing some new firmware for this tablet. That is a shame.

Is this your model?
EDIT:
If this is your model, then download appropriate firmware for your tablet, and there is a PDF guide inside firmware ZIP file.
As I can see, you can use the same procedure to upgrade firmware like I wrote in my posts about upgrading Mediapad 7 Lite.
Don't accidentally download and flash wrong firmware, cause it probably going to brick your tablet! Be careful.

It is my model. But when I press *#*#4636#*#* on dialer, there is nothing appear. So that I can not set my device in Umts only mode. What should I do to set my device in this mode?

I don't have Youth model, so can't tell if this is the same on your tablet too, but...
Did you try to (un)check your => Settings > (Wireless & Mobile Section) > More... > Mobile Networks > Use only 2G networks?
Well if *#*#4636#*#* is not working for you (just to say - it is not working for me either, but I didn't check it until now, cause I always use 3G or WiFi ), you can try to use app on Google Play store called Radio Switcher which makes the same thing.
Try, maybe that helps. Good luck.

You know how many Chinese phones have 4.2.2? Me neither, because there are so many (100s), with such poor documentation that it's ridiculous. Without knowing more info about yours such as board type, brand, screen size, etc, no one can help you unless they have some sort clairvoyant powers.
Appreciated

It would have everything to do with the model of the device. If you have deleted essential /system files, then without knowing what OS and phone you have, how could we get you the right files to replace? It even matters on many of these devices how much storage you have as well because there are different tools to reload depending on that. Seems like it shares a lot of stuff with the Star S7589 phone, so might find stuff on that one to fix if all else fails.
Thank you!
Well what I did was to search WIFI on the root folder... (I wanted to change MAC address somehow) but instead of copying the files for further analysis I deleted like 4 results that apeared with the word WIFI... I am not sure where did I deleted them from...

Hey guys I found the stock ROM for my phone. I guess If I reinstall the ROM the phone will get everything to work again. Now the problem is that I have tried to Install from ZIP (from recovery) but it says installation aborted.

Send me the updater-script in the ROM there might be some problem with that..
Sent from my XT1033 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Well I've no clue what you were trying to link to because no matter which way I searched for it, nothing would come up that was close. Tried on the PC and phone and made sure to put the address in how needrom.com would typically see it (I'm familiar with the site) as well as searching for just bits and pieces of the link in Google and on the site. But if it is the original rom for an Alps phone, most likely you have to load with SP Flash Tool, not recovery.
I found this one, which is the update before the one you posted, I think, but it has the how to on flashing: http://www.needrom.com/mobile/star-s7589-10/ Even if that isn't the right firmware, it should be the correct guide to installation.
Thank you!

There is no file like that inside the zip folder

Just be sure to load the correct stock ROM and you should be fine.
Hi
In many forums I saw people complaining on their LTE connections or even lost the option to set LTE.
I tried this and works fine on many custom ROMs
Type one of this codes in the phone dialer
D800: 3845#*800#
D801: 3845#*801#
VS980: 3845#*980#
LS980: 3845#*980#
D802: 3845#*802#
D805: 3845#*805#
(Other models just type model number between * and #)
Now you will see a hidden menu, follow the route: LTE-Only , Modem Settings , RAT Selection
Press LTE only, and restart your phone.
Then enter the hidden menu again, go to the same route, press: GSM / WCDMA / LTE auto.
Thats all, you are done!
Don't forget to hit the thanks button on the left if this works for you.
This didn't work for me on my TMobile G2 running CM 11 nightly 6/22. It says "USSD code running" and then "Connection problem or invalid MMI code".

Ok try this:
Type on the dialer:
*#*#4636#*#*
Then tap in "Phone Information" (first option)
Scroll down to: Set preferred network type
Select: LTE/GSM/WCDMA
That's it man!
By the way, some carriers around the world use a SIM Card, for using LTE you have to update to a LTE SIM card, if you haven't done this contact your carrier and change your SIM card, it should be free.
Other carriers need to have your phone's IMEI and authorize it to give you access to a LTE network, contact your carrier if this is your case.
I hope I'm helping you my friend!
Not of that worked on d803.... had to delete lteconf or apnsconf depending on rom then reset my apn to lte settings

Deleting the file LTEconfig.apk works too on Optimus G3 ROM. I'm not sure of this in another ROM but anyone can copy the file in another location and back it up later.
The file is located in the folder: / System /app
Just delete the file and restart your phone. This should work too.

Delete the file, don't worry. APN will be reconfigured automatically when you restart your phone (or radio), or if you search manually for a cellular network.

Try deleting the file LTEconfig as previously mentioned. This also works in Cloudyfa's customs roms.
To delete the file you need root permission so use a more advanced file explorer than the included, ES File explorer is good enough.

I've tested it on Cloudyfa's customs roms included CloudyFlex and it works. Remember you need a file explorer with root acces, like Es explorer.
