Hi,
I can't stream videos to my Samsung smart tv with the galaxy note 2.
However i was able to do this with my Samsung epic 4g touch through the "allshare" app that came with the phone.
I used the “allshare play" app that came with my note 2, but it won't detect my tv.it's basically supposed to detect my tv through the same Wi-Fi network that we're connected to and let me stream videos from my phone.

I just want to be sure, you are using the Allshare Cast dongle correct?
Have you tried updating allshare? They just pushed an update two days ago -

OP shouldn't need the dongle with the Samsung Smart TV it's already built in.

Thanx for the replies! With your information, i was able to look through my phone and try out the file sharing feature. when i turn on file sharing, the tv detects the phone. However, the phone can't detect the tv so that i can push files to the tv.
It is a smart tv and I've done it before with the galaxy s 2, but I'm having no luck with my note 2.
The app is already updated, but it's not detecting the tv. I have a UN55C6500VF.
Also, when i play videos i recorded with my phone, it lags like crazy, but when i play a 720p movie it doesn't lag at all. What the hell?

Apologies if this is a stupid question...
When I record a video on my phone, I'd like to be able to stream the clip on to my television through AllShare. Sadly, my television won't play the files. Neither will my 360.
Is it simply that neither will recognise the file format? Or am I doing something completely wrong?
I don't think the 360 supports the playback of recorded videos. I couldn't get mine to work when I tried.
It seemed to be pushing a 3gpp video instead of the mp4 when I did it. Maybe the fact that it was 1080p didn't help either.
Must give it another go at some point.

You can stream via allshare to the xbox, but the xbox has to be in media center mode.

Did it work?
Allshare Play can only be used for gallery photo's/videos. You will need to use Allshare Cast (if you want to wireless share your screen), which at time of the original annoucement was supposed to work with most Samsung SmartTVs without an additional dongle and with other TVs with the additional dongle - however it now seems that you need to buy an additional dongle regardless.
If you do not mind using a cable to connect to the TV then you'll need an MHL cable that is compatible with the SIII.
i went to shop today and from.settings of s3 i turned on all share, it kept on searching but the samsung smart tv es7500 didn,t give any response, but when i tried to share a pic from gallery through Wi-Fi direct, it worked

I posted this same issue in the N7 forum and so far I didn't get an answer. Since I got a Note 1 and it is Samsung, maybe someone already tried it and can share their experience.
I am aware that the AllShare Cast Wireless Hub -- here's a link - http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones-accessories/EAD-T10JDEGSTA
only works in Select S3 devices and all Galaxy Note 2 devices.
Is there a hack to make it work in our Note 1? Or maybe an apk that could make it work?
Thanks!

glad my Samsung led t.v. has that feature built in... don't some of the blue ray with smart app have that all share built in? I use it all the time all share is decent.

Actually my Samsung TV UN46C7000 has Allshare there but NOT Allshare Cast Wireless.
I'm going to check my Samsung Bluray and check maybe it has that feature .. but both my TV and bluray are 2 years old .. I think wireless cast is just this year.
Question, i seen a friend of mine has allshare cast on his g3 and is using the new netgear ptv 3000 to stream movies to his tv using miracast technology... I looked at the specs of the g3 vs the g2 and the g2 seems to have the same wireless radios as the g3 when it comes to wifi.
My question is would it be possible to put allshare cast on a jellybean updated s2 and be able to use it to stream wireless tv like the g3?
thanks.

I think you only need allshare dongle connected to pc and allshare installed on phone. I saw video somewhere on youtube.

thanks for the reply... i believe the solution your talking about is using dlna, i am looking at using the miracast standard... i hear it is superior to dlna.

evene the new jb didnt include it in S2

I can't believe that no one tried to port the allshare cast feature to S2. I don't know why the people are not interested in this feature.
Developers, can you please help us ?
jb 4.2.2 cm 10.1 , and still no allshare cast for gS2 , what is that magic device that galaxy created that no one can crack .

My big question , that I didnt read sny direct answer .
Is allshare cast option is a hardware that is not supported by S2 ,?
Which I dont think do , because u can see the dongle through wifi direct and connect to it , even u can access the web interface for the dongle,

you are referring to allshare play which is (DLNA), what we need is allshare cast (miracast) (screen mirroring)
What's the dif ? Sorry bout that.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
DLNA: stream videos, audio and pictures to your TV
Miracast: see whatever is on your phone screen on your TV (games, browsing, emails ... anything)
U r killing me anserright , u have your recommendations without even know what is allshare cast featuer .
Some one please kill me and let me finish my useless life :screwy:

i couldn't wait and it seems that allshare cast in never coming to the S2.
i got the S4 and i already had a miracast box from Taiwan, the company name is singularity systems. You can find some videos for the product on youtube.
screen mirroring is working fine but it wont work with rooted S4 until triangle away is updated to support i9500.
Congratulation for your s4 . I was expecting one this week but u don't think it will come any time soon . any way I still have my Samsung single cast and I still didn't use it yet b
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
I think that allshare cast is never coming to s2 because of the screen resolution. I think that any phone with a display lower than 720 will not have the feature. I dont think it has to do with wifi or gpu.
update:
The S4 mini has screen mirroring and its resolution is 540 x 960, so I think it is possible to have it on S2. We have to wait for the 4.2.2 update.
Is there a different way to do this on n9 compared to the check box I would usually find in the display>cast screen area of settings?
I'm trying to cast screen to my LG smart TV.
Thanks for any help!

Screen cast is not working for me either. I can get it to connect to my lg smart tv. Its under advanced wifi settings tab. The tv says it connected but doesn't display the nexus 9's screen.
Silmport doesn't work either, i dont have a mhl cable to test.
I can connect through the advanced settings like you, which I guess shows it can see the tv. Seems odd then that the check box is missing in the cast screen setting.
Thanks for checking...

Maybe Google finally dropped Miracast which was pretty crappy technology.
Chromecast mirroring works fine.
With Chromecast mirroring did you not have to enable the setting? I've not seen how it works as I've been able to share screen on my smart TV on KitKat.

No need to enable anything for Chromecast mirroring. It just shows up.
Short term I have found this app that works great for casting media to my Smart TV.

It's called Localcast and has done what I need it to do.

The option is missing for me too. I was hoping to test casting to my Roku 3.
I am Samsung Galaxy J7 with Nadroid 5.1.1, can not find cast screen.
