So I Know you can draw an up arrow to access the menu key functionality as well as drawing a back arrowto go back. Is there a way to access the home Screen with a gesture?

you can check out GMD spen control if you have root. It lets you set custom gestures.

If you use another launcher other than TouchWiz you can. I just tested with sslauncher. I opened the gesture control and created a new gesture "H" and chose sslauncher from tae application list. It will not work with TW as it does not show up as an app. It is a bit of a work-around as you must first open with an upward motion and then write "H". Its far far quicker to press the Home button.
If you do decide, or already use a third party launcher i would recommend you use "SwipePad" instead to quickly jump to the home screen using the S-Pen

ive read the description of nova launcher but couldnt find anythinga bout multi tasking. can you explain a bit more?
Not only nova you can have it in apex too, in fact you can simply bring the recent apps menu by making a swipe gesture on home screen
《tapatalked from galaxy s3》
I'm not sure if it works on the gs3, but I use an amazing app on my transformer prime called gesture control.
It basically allows you to define actions by using gestures.
You can define two, three, and four finger gestures.
It really is great. Needs root though.
So you can define a gesture for bringing up the multitasking menu and it works throughout the whole system anywhere.
You don't have to be on the launcher homescreen .

tried apex launcher but couldnt get it to work when im inside an app. ill try gesture control. anyone else have any suggestion for me
anyone can give me suggestion on a great gesture app that can open the recent app from anywhere?
Wave launcher is also cool multitasker. Quite different though.
Also looking for this, something like zephyr for IOS that works inside apps. It allows to close an app just sweeping from bottom to top.

i tried the app and it worked great. Can I ask what the risk of enabling usb debugging is? Im kinda paranoid of what it does, also can you suggest to me what good gesture is best to bring up the recent app list?
What does usb debugging do?
I don't understand why you don't just want to hold home? Plus when on this screen if you swype to left or right the preview is binned.
As for killing apps, Android runs on linux, linux manages ram very well and indeed runs better when you don't keep closing things all the time, it caches processes to save you time and battery when you next need them!
I use a app called "multitask shortcut" which is awesome and it only cost .50 dollars. It doesnt work inside apps though. I wish there was something like Zephyr for Android. It was awesome on the iPhone.
I pressed into the homescreen:
ADD/launcher actions/open/close APP drawer
and it "installed" a shortcut in my home screen that I can't remove.
I'm using the default ADWLauncher from the CM rom.
Can you guys help me out?
Heh. CM7
press and hold it, can move it up towards the trash or down, where ever the trash is on that old stuff
Its not longpress option activated with the launcher... so I can't do it that easily

It'll be the same as moving app shortcuts around your homescreens.
Longpress on shortcut WILL allow movement/editing/removing. If not then wipe your phone and reinstall it cuz somethings broke.
but I'd do that anyway and get on ICS atleast

Is there no chance that I can enable that longpress option in the launcher so I can do what it supposed to be doing?

Awesome!!!! you are the man, that happens when ppl has the experience, I already got android just since no more than a year.
I'm looking for a browser where I can swipe in from the left/right to go back/forward. That's the only gestures that I want. Like in webos with the gestures patch. Is there one in android like this? I tried the browsers with gestures like dolphin but I don't want to press a button to go to a gestures screen then make my gesture. I want to just swipe left/right.
default browser gestures work ok but i lose the url/tabs bar if i enable the gesture control. I'd use this if I could keep the bar and have the gestures but I havent found a way to have both :S
I'll try any suggestions to test them out if they work for you

perfect thanks, hm too bad i cant flip the back/forward though, i like back on left side, but best so far that i've used so i'll take it

You could try the Maxthon Browser. The tablet version works fine on the HP. Get it here:
http://www.maxthon.com/maxthon-mobile-tablets/
thx for the maxthon suggestion, it has the back/forward how i want it but i'll stick with xscope for time being, i've grown fond of it
plus maxthon seems to render pages a bit slower, plus i was having problems with it recognizing my swipes when i zoomed into the page. it would move the page more often than going back/forward. xscope seems to do this part a bit better, plus i've grown accustomed to the direction of the gestures now

I am considering getting a HTC One but one of my reservations is that I use Apex launcher and am wondering about the two softkey layout of the phone. with there being no menu button, is there that annoying menu bar always on the bottom when using 3rd party launchers? If not, how can you access that menu on this phone?

I think you mean the three dot settings button, right? Yah, it will display a bar at the bottom of the screen with the buttons. However, you can install a custom rom that will remove the bar and allow you to long press the back button to open that menu.
Bummer. Are there any other launchers that dont have the menu bar at the bottom, without rooting? Its not that I am afraid of rooting, but I dont want to mess with my phone's basic functionality right out of the box.

Use XPOSED MOD it has a module to remove 3-dot menu.

I am using the Apex launcher, and there is no black "three dots" at the bottom. It works fine.
On the other hand, I tried the Go Launcher EX, and that one I had to uninstall because it did have the black bar.
EDIT: Not rooted.
Awesome! How do you access the menu then from the home screen using this phone?

You can long press on any empty space and the menu will come up. Or, it can be accessed from the app drawer, top right. Three dots there.

I am using Nova launcher, I can double tap screen to turn it on no issues.
I saw that with the v10 you can double tap the screen to shut it off as well. If I use the LG luancher it will turn off with double tap, but when using nova double tap will not shut off.
On the lock screen it will doubletap to turn off.
Any suggestions on how to get this feature working using nova?
my att v10 works with nova. double tap at top of screen
Use the screen off and lock app, and create a knock gesture in Nova Settings attached to the app

I haven't heard of that app. I will look it up. Thanks.
Download this app and set it up, works perfect for Nova double tap to turn off on any phone I've used.
If you entered the hidden settings at all..then it breaks the knock on. Pretty stupid bug to make it past testing

What I've found on all LG devices is that the Knock On feature works all the time. Knock Off on the status bar works all the time as well. Knock Off on an empty space on the Desktop seems to be specific to LG's launcher.
As was mentioned previously, the best way to replicate that with Nova Launcher is to install the "Screen Off and Lock" app and assign it to a double-tap gesture in Nova Launcher.
I'm using double tap for another app with Nova, never did anything special, it just worked from the start.

No sorry. Hidden settings within the phone itself by doing whatever that code was. I only did it once and me and few other guys confirmed it in another thread.
Enter service ..hidden.. Menu..it crashes...knock on stops working . i am using stock launcher
Doesn't work on my TMo V10...I like the feature so I am using the LG launcher.

Install this:
Than set this in Nova Prime:

Are you talking about the Developer settings? If so, I've gotten into on mine and knock on and off still works.
