Hay guys, justo a quick question fir those of you who might remember. I was debating between a N4 or S4 upgrade, and seeing how shipping estimates are being so delayed and S4 might come around late February, I was hoping to compare, and get an idea:
Do any of you remember what the unlocked base model i9300 model was going for around launch? ie Amazon price.
Thanks!

You say S4 in FEB.. Nahh doubtful very doubtful
The Nexus 4 is 260 pound and the S3 was 500 pound or so.. The S4 will be around 500 again.

wait until 30 days past launch. You will begin to see them on ebay once people cannot return them to ATT.
How much you offering? White note with OEM car dock and spare battery and charging kit. Just wondering.

I'm already beginning to see some sell on eBay in the low to mid $500 price range. That's already $100+ off of retail. I want a note BADLY as well but I'm waiting.

I am looking at unlocked gsm phones that I can use for straight talk. I am looking for one with decent amount of roms and such. I am looking for one within 0 to maybe 150 preferably on price range.

At one time I was thinking about the HTC wildfire s but dunno if there is a better phone than that for around the same price.

Maybe a Nexus One?
Or a galaxy s?

Yeah I think I am going to try and win a Samsung captivate/galaxy s on ebay.

HTC HD2 ?
I recently got a factory refurbished Nexus S off ebay in your price range. An older phone that you can run Jellybean on for 150 is hard to beat.
Should i buy s3 or note 2? Hows the quality on note 2?
Wait! The new devices coming out at CES are better than the Note 2 and SGS3.
Nexus .

Both are technically excellent, personal preference on the size is the decider - I held both in my hand when deciding. The note was far too big for my pocket and embarrasing to hold to your ear (think 1980's brick sized phones).
Yea new devices r coming so bassically u r getting 'old' devices..

Note 2 for the updated screen etc. But SGS4 out soon, save your money up to buy it outright on day one without delay.

When you can actually get the s4 they will already release the s5
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
They are both good phones and to the save up for a s4 when it comes out. Samsung hasn't put out a release date and then the s5 or nexus 5 is coming out. There is always something newer and better around the corner

Why not read around the forums and see what people are actually saying, rather than asking people's opinions, which on this site are driven by people's egos and desire to voice their opinions

The Galaxy S3 is the latest of the S Series... Its hardly old, its 6 months old, in Android terms this is old but it excels almost every device at CES, with the exception of the Xperia Z maybe...
Just wondering since its becoming more and more apparent the S4 will be unveiled this March, why would Samsung rush to release it, considering how great the s3 is at present. Each to his own of course, I would have expected the s3 to at least till next year before a newer version would be released. But obviously I don't run a mobile business so would appreciate your inputas to why they would be so quick to release a new version. Could Samsung be worried of loosing market share due to the explosion of new handsets and operating systems?, either way am sure the s4 is going to have to be epic, releasing it a year after the s3 master piece. Your input appreciated.
Samsung's strategy is to flood the market at every end of the financial spectrum. They will continually rush to put out devices

Nothing strange about it, they always bring out new models yearly. Thankfully they didn't do an Apple and make the I9305 the SGS4.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Just like every consumer product from TV to cars, a new model is released every year. If they didn't, the competition would eat them alive.

There was a gap of a 2 years though between the s2 and s3,if am not mistaken that's why am wondering. Either way I think it's a bold brave move by Samsung, because the s3, is still miles better than the new HTC one, blackberry and most new devices at present.

No, no, no, no....there was 1 year between s2 and S3....S2 was in beggining of march 2011(i think, correct me if im wrong) and s3 in may 2012, so 14 months....and second, s3 may have more features and better overall experience, but hardware wise, it dissapers...

Yeah every year is a new model like iPhone and everything else. Most people skip a year for a new device.

Anyways... i will keep my S3 for a bit longer. It makes me happy everyday, so considering that i'm not using it even for 50% of its power, for me one with better cpu, gpu , ram etc is useless. Maybe i will change it around Xmas but then again, in few months after Xmas will be the S5.. so i think most probably i will keep it until S5.

Yes, 4.1.2 was the last update from Samsung. It's too bad that they abandoned this device. Every now and then I send an email to Samsung bugging them when will they next release an update for our phone but get the same claptrap back.

The price is a lot more incredible too. Problem with both is, the bootloader issue. They are working on a safety strap to work with or as a recovery. I think N3 is closer to that then the Mega. But he Mega is made to be more affordable. It has already been approved for 4.3 upgrade, 4.4 ?????? We'll have to see. Just 2 weeks ago att had it for $49 online.

buying the note 3 is like going out and buying an ip5s, your stuck with what the manufacture wants you to have
Samsung can suck a hole in a wall and leave android for all i care now days, they peaked with the note 2 and now are on the hill downwards with apple
with that said, 4.1.2 is the last stop for the i717, we are way over the 18 month period and were lucky to even get 4.1.2
the Knox security is a hell of a mess from Samsung for sure , but I still got hope that will not affect the development for this device. Maybe more time but not the end . all this mess for more money in theirs pockets ..

I'm stuck on which device I should opt to get. I've become accustomed to the freakingly large screen the note offers. Anything smaller and I might flip...The mega doesn't really interest me that much...I really have no idea what to get. I however might jump ship and get the N5. Its only 349/399

I upgraded to a Note 3 and its a huge improvement from the note 1 , the pen works really well and find I use it a lot more than I did before. Go to your carrier of choice and play with one before picking something you are unsure of. l rooted mine no problem (Im not a big fan of Roms because they always caused problems after 4.2.2 For me anyways ... something always broke.) My mission now is to find the best functioning kitkat rom as it was meant to be buiIt for aging phones that dont have the impressive specs of a newly released flagship device. l almost got a Xperia Z1 because of my tablet Z but didnt like the bezels top and bottom, (AND NO PEN). Awesome job on the pen I cant stress how much better it is?

I have an S4...but I want a note 1 as a back up. I had the Note 2 but I sold it for lots of loot. The S4 is brilliant but the locked bootloader has cramped the phone to the point of constipation as if you got a S4 on MF 4.2.2 firmware or MK 4.3 firmware the boot loader is super locked. They even killed the service menu. So Im selling my S4 for cash + the note 1 for temp use until I see what I want next. Samsung is the only phone company left with dual storage. LG has the Optimus G pro with 32GB and an SD card slot, but with the specs on that phone they will never see 4.2.2 on it.. And it's a beast of a phone...so I will take this Note 1 + $250 and call it a day until February

Do it. There is nothing better than getting a Nexus. I jumped to Nexus 4 from the Note about 10 months ago, and just upgraded to a Nexus 5. The developer support on a Nexus is amazing. I could have easily stuck with the Nexus 4 for another year, but the lack of LTE was bothering me a bit. A Nexus phone is pure gold. By the time the Note got to be the age that my Nexus 4 was at, I was tired of it. Don't give another dime to Samsung, who will spend it on rewriting perfectly good android code into buggy bloatware. Don't let the lack of sd card bother you. I have lived with 16 GB storage without any issue, and Nexus 5 comes in 32 GB too, for just $50 more.
