You reading the same thing I am, or are you projecting?
Not necessarily.... we meet the spec requirements, but they said that devices from 2011 would be met with consideration. Not exactly a guarantee. Plus, if we got sense 3.6 in the last update because our phone "couldn't handle" sense 4, why would they then update us to sense 4+? Okay, I'm ending my pessimistic post of the day now.

I hope that we do get JB, but considering the Thunderbolt is still waiting for ICS, I can't say that I am too optimistic.
But HTC phones will sometimes get two upgrades. The incredible did.
It's really up to Verizon to let it through, I would think. So it's more of a maybe, but I'm not so optimistic that it will happen. Hopefully the Rezound will get JB, though. I'd love me some stock Sense 4 for a change.
Not to be a pessimist, but I feel that there is pretty much 0 chance we'll get an official jb update. There weren't enough rezounds sold for HTC to care, and vzw makes it even harder on them. They aren't going to go through the effort. All the focus is on s4 devices . I'm crossing my fingers that any msm8660 device gets a JB update from HTC so we can pull from it.

Why would HTC spend the money, time, and resources to create a JB ROM that runs Sense 3.6? They never promised more than ICS for the Rez as a selling point, so they owe us nothing.
They wouldn't give us a Sense 4 update because they have already stated in print that the Rezound doesn't have the hardware to run it. But that's only half true.
Of course, many of us are running some variation of Sense 4 now on our Rezounds. So while it is technically possible, some concessions had to be made. The Rezound can't do continuous camera shooting very well. Also, still image capture while shooting video is not possible. These features were a huge part of what made Sense 4 so great to HTC (conjecture on my part, but an educated guess based on the advertising), so their official stance on Sense 4 on the Rezound does make sense.
HTC releasing a 3.6 Jelly Bean Rom seems highly unlikely.
Hey the tb was updated to 3.6 in the leak from what like 2.1? But anyway we've technically already got 2 updates, 3 if you count the global leak...

Yeah I know. Sorry if I came off as hateful or anything. I guess I was just curious as to how anyone who read that statement would interpret it to mean that they were most likely gonna update the Rez to JB.
I got the opposite impression. Guess it's just a glass half-full/empty thing.
If they did upgrade us to a JB (not Justin Bieber) then I'd be beyond excited and looking forward to what awesome surprises our glorious devs here would be able to come up with.

Yeah, the Sensation leak was, well, kind of ugly. I think Sense looks better than AOSP. I just like the way that AOSP functions in general. It would be nice if we could get the ICS functionality with the look of Sense, plus some more little goodies.

I just read somewhere else that it appears they're working on ICS for 3.5. That would be horribly disappointing. New devices they've announced (the quad core ones, for example) seem to be the ones that will be getting Sense 4.0 with ICS. I just hope they realize we want 4.0, as well and give it to us on the OTA.
This link was where I read it. Seems fairly up-to-date.

Agreed. I'm not terribly worried since I'll get a new phone before the OTA comes (if the HTC quad-core phones are out), or we'll already have some ICS with a rom. You should check out Chingy and Newt's rom, btw. This thing is awesome
I'm back to the Rez from the Nex. Soo glad! I hope to see the app grouping which from the leak appears to be there.

Seeing as it's the first build, there are some minor issues and things that just won't work yet. That being said, I've never seen a more polished and sexy rom in a first build ever. I've seen some v4+ that aren't as nice as this thing is. If you get flash happy, give it a go since you won't be disappointed. If you can wait a little bit, let them get the bugs out. Something beyond amazing would have to pull me away from this rom.

Either we will get it or it will get ported. If the Inc has Sense 3.5 we can get 4.0 lol
I'm pretty sure that it will come with sense 4.0 seeing that it is pretty much the VZW flagship imo. HTC's focus this year will be to release higher quality products instead of spamming the marker with 1,000,000 + phones. I am sure the rezzy will see 4.0 officially ontop of 4.0.3 (atleast). If not like the other nerds say.. It will be ported over for sure.

The Evo 4G will never and was never planned to receive ICS, and yet there are completely functioning ICS builds available for it, with working camera on top of everything else besides the obvious 4G (and maybe a few other things, I haven't followed OG Evo development since I upgraded to this phone).
Official releases aren't a huge deal unless we need them to fix something. The problem with ICS on our phones have to do with the difference between it and GB, as well as our camera. I do not foresee JB to be a big difference from ICS, kind of like Froyo to GB.
So in the end an official release won't matter as long as JB isn't a huge difference over ICS, and we can use the official ICS release in order to make sure the camera works.
You're going to be able to run JB on this phone, do not worry.

I know the phones hardware is more than capable of handling JB. And I'd agree with everything you said, but our phone has some unique needs that others don't. Like you mentioned, the 3d/camera is one of them and also Wimax. ICS has been around for quite a while and there isn't a single ICS build for our phone that is a nice stable daily driver. Getting some of our phone's features to work without the help of HTC may be a bit tough. The development scene of the Evo 3D isn't huge either, though thankfully we have many great devs.
I came to the Evo 3d from the HTC HD2, now that's a phone that seems to be able to run just about anything. Ridiculously massive development scene. It had ICS running long before many other phones and it isn't even an android phone.

I can agree with that, mostly. What I'm trying to say is that, after a release from HTC, we hopefully won't have to worry too much about JB in the future.

Hey guys, why are people talking about jailbait in this thread?
Just my opinion so don't burn me for it but I don't think we should just be okay with getting ripped and only getting sense 3.6 and them releasing sense 4 just a few months after our phone even though ics was already out when our phones were released and sense 4 in the works and I'm pretty sure if we were to all put our thoughts about it on the HTC facebook page we might be able to stirr this up and maybe actually get somewhere. Who's with me?

Couldn't hurt to try that's for sure. But I'm pretty sure we'll still be seeing 3.6 for the upcoming OTA. I also wonder if they have future plans to officially update the Rezound to 4.0.

(rezound)
I agree it wouldn't hurt to try but if VZW/HTC really hold their promise of providing Rezound users with ICS, there is nothing we should have an issue with. I am happy we're getting ICS period to be honest.
Stock ICS over Sense 4.0 would be really nice but since it likely won't happen I'll keep supporting our Devs to bring us the latest and greatest.
Us not getting Sense 4 officially is just one reason why to be thankful for devs.
What does sense 4 have that 3.6 doesn't that we can take advantage of? We don't have the new camera with image sense and beats integration apparently is more than a software setting. We have the customizable dock so what else is there?
Sent from my Rezound using Tapatalk
The reason the Rezound won't get Sense 4.0 is that there are features in 4.0 that are specific to the hardware in the HTC One Series devices. Because of the differences between those devices and all other handsets preceding them a redesign of Sense was necessary. HTC isn't trying to screw anyone here and VZW had no decision in this matter. A petition won't do any good. We haven't even seen a changelog for Sense 3.6 yet or a side by side comparison of 4.0 so it's a bit premature to be upset that the Rezound won't get 4.0.
I don't care whether we get it or not but apparently a lot of others do.
I really don't care if we get it or not because our devs will eventually prefect it anyways.

That is a pretty good reason if you ask me. Probably would really help out the battery life too. I've easily doubled my battery life since tossing most of Sense 3.5 out.
Anyways, to answer the OP's question: YES. If you want Sense 4.0 officially because you're not willing to root and flash a ROM, then of course you should try to do something about it. The ONLY reason we arent getting Sense 4 is because they are leaving it exclusive to their upcoming devices, so they can use it as a selling point. If you don't think thats fair, you SHOULD say something. Don't expect anybody to listen... but you never know.
Was it just coincidence that HTC silently allowed Rezound on HTC Dev Unlock just a week or so after the petition was started? Maybe, but it could just as easily have been BECAUSE of the petition. I say there is no reason not to give it a shot.

This is correct, I don't appreciate the sarcasm guys. The DNA is much more powerful than the Gnex and it has been out since November and so has 4.2.
4.2 mostly added changes for tablets, there really wasn't much changed for phones over 4.1 besides adding that new photosphere. That's mainly the reason why Google didn't bother to give it a new code name. I doubt it's worth the effort to upgrade.
I think everyone needs to remember what goes into these things. Clearly none of you have worked in an IT department before. Google releases a new version. HTC will get it, and then begins customizing it for their devices. They have to adjust the firmware, rebuild sense... it's not small development work. Then it goes into QA for a while to make sure it's up to par. Then it's released to Verzion and goes into their QA. Problems that arise during these phases are corrected and retested. Finally after it's all signed off, it's scheduled for release. That process can and does take months. It's the significant drawback for the android platform. Apple on the other hand would have been done with their initial release. Google Nexus phones get all the upgrades because Google tests everything for them before they release the new version.

I want the new version mainly for the lock screen changes.

It is extremely unrealistic to expect a heavily skinned HTC device to get updates at the same speed as a device running just stock vanilla Android.
The Sense overlay is massive, and requires a lot of tuning and customization in order to function properly. Throw a new version of Android at HTC, and they have to spend a lot of time to make 'Sense' of things, if you take my meaning. The first thing they have to figure out is whether or not the update will even improve the user experience. What if there's no benefit to the end user because the update was mainly for tablets (as the previous poster said). Or, is it worth the cost of re-tooling Sense for an extremely minor update?
All this hating on HTC over updates on fairly new phones is really unfair.
Now the Rezound ICS update debacle was unforgivable, but this device hasn't even been out 6 months, and they've already put out an OTA with new radios. Dude, that's freaking awesome support!
So instead of all the negativity, how about congratulating HTC on lessons learned from the Rezound delays, and enjoying what you've got?

You are right but the new android isn't that different aside from the lock screen. I am not hating on HTC it's more than likely Verizon.

Man idk why you even started this topic? Have you been on Android or VZW for any length of time whatsoever? This shouldn't be a surprise. I mean we will probably see AOSP 4.2 from one of the devs long before we see 4.2 or even sense 5(which we already have) from VZW. Updates for phones that aren't a Nexus always take a long time and VZW is notorious for making that wait even longer.
ViperDNA
Woah woah woah... Sense is NOT skinned / heavily modded its a completely built up OS based on Aosp/Linux kernel
Two totally different things
