Awesome! I am loving mine for sure as is my co-worker who I recommended one to and my brother in law.

I do love my LGOG. It's even better with all the tweaks that have become available over the past two weeks. I can't wait to see what's available in the future.

Ordering my note today...

Since my experience with my infuse was so horrible and I mean horrible (replaced 5 times) they are allowing me to upgrade my second line early so I figured I'd spend it on the Gnote, my primary line is up next January so I figured the note will hold me over for 11 months. How good is it? I've played with one briefly the other day and really liked it.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using Tapatalk
Its great so far , get it. You have 30 days to play with it just in case.
I'd like to think the abundance of positive threads in this forum attest to what a wonderful device it really is. I am absolutely in love with this phone, and haven't felt this way since the first time I played with an iPhone back in 2009.

You won't be sorry! I came from an iPhone 4S and I'm not sure the camera is quite as good but its still excellent. And the rest of the phone is far better! I'm in love with the screen and I'm just beginning to get the hang of editing pictures with the S-Pen. It's an awesome phone! I ordered two extra batteries and a wall charger from Amazon to go with it so that I'm never stuck to a wall.
I came from an lg nitro HD and this phone is awesome.I smile every time I pull it out of my pocket. And something really cool that I just noticed is that Swype rocks with the s-pen.

I really like my note alot, perfect size IMO. I have no problem going from my ipad2 to my note but using my note then picking up my Atrix or iphone4 and they look tiny!

Your opinions on this phone

So my upgrade is in a couple weeks. So I'm debating between this phone, Samsung galaxy s3, or the droid dna. What are your opinions on Samsung galaxy note 2?

Note 2 has bigger and brighter screen, and longer lasting battery than S3. Other than that, they are very similar.
DNA doesn't have a removable battery or allow you to add more storage. You're pretty much stuck with 16gig, which is what the Note 2 comes standard with, but the Note 2 allows you to expand up to an additional 64 gigs.
This topic HAS been beaten to death...but the Note 2 still wins

Don't forget the s-pen! That's the main reason I went with the note (along with screen second and battery third; and wanting to leave iOS - unrankable).
You might also wait until march to see what the S4 will offer. If you dont want to wait, most people a very very happy with their Note 2. I especially love the Note 2's battery life.
Whatever your choice is, good luck. And please search before you post. There are several people that dont mind helping, but it can be frustrating to help those who dont help themselves.

The SGS4 is likely 6-8 months off at this point. Their last release was in the summer, and every release before that was in the summer in the US (late spring internationally). If you want a phone now, I'd say get the Note 2, if you can wait, this coming summer/fall looks like it will be amazing
Well as of right now that's a rumor that the s4 will be out in March. Also I have a lg revolution which is the worst phone I ever bought

The international release has been 3-4 months before US Carrier release so far, so the earliest you'd see it is June/July in the US on VZW.

Lol I remember selling that phone when I worked for Vzw. It was great at the time but now...well you already know. I got my note2 on Xmas eve and I can't think of any other device I would own at this point. The spen opens up so many options. I find myself officially spoiled after owning this. No other phone on Verizon in my opinion can rival the Note2 unless you can't deal with the size.
Even Verizon and lg said the phone sucked. That's why the released the spectrum so quick

I wasnt saying the phone will be out in march. I said wait until march to see what it will have to offer. I was referring to it being announced in march. Either ar MWC or its own event.
Just to be clear: I agree the S4 will more than likely not be available for purchase until July in the US.
On a side note: my gf cousin works for a company that plans big events for corporations. They have been working on something big for Samsung. He was in town for christmas and was pretty much on the phone (ironically an iPhone) the whole time having teleconferences with Korea. My guess is the S4 but they dont get told the actual product until a couple of weeks out.

I think the Note 2 is the best phone out right now. All phones have compromises. S3 only has 1gb of RAM, DNA doesn't have expandable storage and battery life is so/so.
I've only had the note 2 a few days, but I've been a little disappointed with battery life. I'm coming from a Rezound with extended battery (2750mah). The battery life is similar to that and the Rezound got bashed for poor battery life. I was expecting a little more. Guessing it might get better after a few charge cycles. I find myself having to charge about an hour a night. The good thing is that it is a 2amp charger so it charges fast.

The S3 and the Note 2 should never ever be compared. They are totally different devices in almost every way possible. Not bashing you kintwofan, or anyone in particular, just saying these 2 devices should not even be in the same sentence.
It's more like DNA vs S3/4, or do I want a mini tablet with a Wacom pen.
Personally at this point I recommend you wait another month for the S4 reveal and see if that floats your boat OP. I would never recommend an S3 to someone, it's 2013. Especially not a US variant S3 which has horrible specs compared to most devices released in the last 6 months. So you want someone who owns a Note 2's opinion OP? Wait a month.

Im on Clean Rom, and since the phone is near perfect, hasnt really been a need for any of the devs to do any work.
I have both the Note 2 and S3 and prefer the S3 over the Note. Both phones are great, but I personally like the S3 better. The S3 is stock / rooted and the Note 2 is stock / unrooted which may have something to do w/ it. It seems there's more to do with the S3 as far as the Dev community, it's not too big and I have never had any issues with it. I've had the Note 2 for about 4 weeks now and sometimes it won't send a text message until I restart the phone.

How long do you think the s4 will be a supported phone?

I am trying to decide on either keeping my new s4, which I'm having a ton of fun with and really like, or returning it and going back to my iPhone 5. The iPhone is always supported my developers and by Apple to keep the phone working well throughout the 2 year contract. I'm mostly worried about how fast android manufacturers are moving and just don't want to get stuck using a phone that doesn't have any support after 6 or even 12 months.
Look at the galaxy s3! Been out for quite some time and is still fully supported, by Samsung and the rom community. So stop deliberating. You have a flagship phone, they tend to be supported for a while.

...well maybe not forever, but at least for another few years. it's mass produced with very good hardware. and it has AWS (the next gen wireless technology) which is the first of it's kind on the verizon network. those things should keep it in people's hands for a while.

How long do you all plan on keeping your galaxy s4? Do you all keep your phones for the 2 years that most of us sign up for?
I think I get a new phone every 6-12 months! I just like new technology.. I just ditched my s3 yesterday and just picked up the s4. Couldn't be happier.

It will be officially supported for at least 18 months, and most likely longer.

Many galaxy s2 phones just recently got updates, so that would put Samsung atleast a 2 year support window. It was supported from gingerbread to ICS now to jellybean. I wouldn't worry about getting manufacturer support during your contract. As a bonus, Verizon has been improving its own update timeline. I think we will be golden.
Of course that does not take into account the ROM dev community support. The galaxy line of phones typically sees amazing adoption and continuing support. Unless Sammie and Verizon really crack down on locking us down, our devs should be able to keep us moving forward.

Other than Jailbreaking, for non-Apple sanctioned app stores, what kind of developer support does the iPhone get? Seems to me like you're stuck with Apple's version of iOS, no matter what.
Thanks for the replies. I guess I'm just worried about having a phone that in a year or so will be out of date and just don't want to be stuck.

Hopefully not TOO long since they screwed the S3 up with their most recent update. We got extra bloat and some of the fluff from the S4 like the resource hogging multi window (perhaps not the best app for a dual core). Not to mention radio reception got worse along with battery life.
Samsung tends to give good support. With a flagship across all the major carriers the s4 will see amazing dev support.

Just noticed this and had to clarify that the S4 is not Verizon's first AWS device... not even close. It's one of seven that they're currently selling, and came to market a good six months after their first.

Until the S5
It will definitely be at least supported until the next Galaxy, and following the pattern that is likely to be next year. In addition to that, it will likely be supported for quite some time after because not everyone can get the new devices as soon as they come out. My guess would be at least anther six months, probably more. So if you are wondering if the S4 will last you until your next upgrade, I would say it is very likely that it will.

i should have said one of the first. you're correct there are several aws devices on verizon, but no handsets yet. the s4 will be in the first batch of phones to be lte and aws compatible.
the great hardware and large number of s4 sold (in user's hands) will be the main driver for having this phone supported for some time.

Thinking about it, to replace my Galaxy Nexus. But since Ive never touched an LG smartphone Im not sure what (if?) the status of "third party" development would be like. Ive also never seen their overlays over Android so Im not sure what Ill be in for.
But, Snapdragon 800 makes up for some of that

I'm picking up the LG. I've had all HTC 's and Samsung's. I'd have the Optimus G PRO for a couple months and loved it. It was a tremendous phone. IMO. I just hope the development community come through. I think with it being on all carriers it will.

Will be my first LG since the Dare - if that counts. I usually sport a Samsung or Apple but am currently running a Lumia 928. WP8 has a long ways to go! Looking forward to the G2!
I've had every HTC Android that Sprint carried, but switched to the Nexus 4 in February, so the G2 won't be my first LG device, but it will be my first LG device with LG software on it. I'm looking forward to this phone.
Just pre-ordered it, I have had my HTC Amaze 4G for a bit now and the LG G2 will be a huge leap, in terms of specs! lol This will be my first LG experience! Hope for the best!
I've used the Charge, GNex, Rezound, Maxx, DNA, S3, Note 2, Maxx HD, and the S4. This will be my first LG. I'm not too worried about the bootloader being locked down. The navigation keys are movable and most of the other things I'll want to change can be done just by being rooted,

If possible open a new thread for AT&T phones(just a suggestion). Just so all AT&T experiences fall in one place. Developers can figure out the missing features too.
I am going to switch from my note 2. I really love my note 2 but the size after a year is starting to get to me a bit. 5 inch screens look funny to me because of them being narrow and tall and I love the bigger screen in the small form factor. Great specs and great size. I will miss my note, but the lag, crappy gps, terrible amoled screen, and the slightly too big size are starting to turn me off.

Personally I cant remember the last time I was so excited about a phone. I remember when I went to the S4 from the note 2 and I really just couldn't get excited about it at all. It didnt feel like an upgrade.

My departure...

Hello all. As you may know Christmas has come and the devices as well. I will be moving on to a Nexus 5. I just want to thank all of the developers for their work. It was amazing seeing how long a device can still last. I will miss this thread as were this is were I started. So farewell and I hope you all have a very Jolly Christmas!

I left the original Note a little under a year ago for the Nexus 4, and LTE was the only thing I really wish the Nexus 4 had, the rest was a whole lot better on the Nexus. I too upgraded to a Nexus 5 this Christmas, and am glad to be back on LTE again. With the new cheaper non-contract device pricing on AT&T, the Nexus 5 becomes a must have upgrade, as the phone is cheaper in the long run, in addition to being much better supported.
