High battery usage - android system and android os - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

Is it normal for Android OS and android System to have this much usage.

I also noticed this. Also media gets high for me too but that's provably cuz all my music is on my SD card

How much are you using the phone? I have chrome and N64oid much higher (and of course the screen being highest by far). If it's mostly sitting idle, I can see the android system seeming to be high.

Today mostly idle. Yesterday I had almost 5 hours screen time and the usage was still 15-20% or so

Battery Stats

Just wanted to see what others are getting for battery life.
Name the rom you are on, your typical use, and tips for others to squeek out your awesome battery life.
I am running alpha 2
Heavy use ( constant sync two Gmail accounts, wifi on 24/7, friendcaster, and Hotmail)
As for battery advice I keep my screen brightness to a minimum unless I am going outside.

Can't believe your screen is only at 33%
Huge sign of not using your phone
Guess you using the app to take your screen brightness down to 1 on top of that?
Alpha 2
Edit: first pic not showing for me=3 hr 10 min screen time. Also have over 2 hrs of music playing. Almost ss good as oc dagr8 oc to 1.8 GB. If could set min frequency to 192 think it would be the same
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
Yeah can you fix the first pic?
I can't get 19hours, but I can get 3hr screen time
Playing music is easy with screen off for lil drain
Getting 5 hour screen time on a note is definition of great battery life

So, How Much "Screen On" Time Are U Getting On Your S3?

I'm curious. I have an S2 now and can get around 5 hours of "screen on time" if using Wi-Fi or 2G, a lot less if using 3G.
Your S3 had a bigger screen, but also a bigger battery. How much screen on time are u getting?
Thx for replies.

There are already many thread about this. Anyway,
4.5hours screen time with 3g all the way.
6-7 hours screen time with 3g off
4-5 hours screen time with 3g off and gaming non stop.

Is that on stock? Or custom? If custom what are you running because I don't get anywhere near that.

with about 14 hours on battery I get about 6-6.5 hours screen on - wifi on most of the time, 3G on when wifi is not on. Facebook, ebay, Internet, Tapatalk, bit of gaming - this is heavy usage using Omega 11.1 and speedmod K1-6 kernel.

Well personally, I've been managing two days of battery on this device no problem (compared to nearly 1 day my previous phone)
Usually doing light stuff like reading e-books, surfing the web, watching videos and checking e-mails.

I get around 4 hours of screen time with 2 hours of 3g + heavy web browsing, gaming and music. On Paranoid 1.96a and Siyah 1.5b6.
I get about 5h screen on time while using it for 2 days. When i'm at home wifi is on - on the go mobile data is on. I always have 2g/3g auto enabled because i have very good 3g coverage here anyway. Brightness is mostly on "auto" as well
And its basically like heaven after my DesireHD that got to 2-3h max with custom rom/kernel and many battery saving tweaks, undervolting, having brightness set to minimum.
My SGS III is completely stock with root and some bloeatware freezed and i get more
Thanks guys. Overall, sounds like it does better than the S2.

around 5 hours wif 3g activated
Ok, stop! Everyone is making me jealous!

****! I'm only getting about 3 and a half hours screen time. Arhd rom and siyahkernel. Still nearly doubles what I was getting on my old desire HD.
4-4.5 hrs with wifi and 2g in, whatsapping most of the time.

Well, I did upgrade but I ended up getting a galaxy note 2 instead. The battery beats all of these statistics hands-down.

Hi I'm using Nightmare ROM and I'm getting only 2hours 30 min of screen time. I mainly use my phone for calls and whatsapp. I have 3g network but most of the time I'm on WiFi. How do I get better battery life? I have done a lot of reading on wakelocks n I'm getting this result (battery life was much worse earlier. It completely drained in 6 hours ) would a different kernel help?
I usually keep all these settings off
GPS
Screen rotation
Bluetooth
Smart stay
Sync
And brightness is on lowest.
What am I doing wrong?

I think my battery drains too quickly is this right?

Hey all.
In my s3 I played a game for 10 mins and for rest of time I was installing apps and tapatalking is my battery draining too quick?
After full charge in 1hr 20,% lost
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
Hey
If you've lost 20% with your screen on constantly for an hour and a half and played a battery hungry game for 10 mins then I'd say you're getting average battery performance.
That side, you can hardly give it definitive answer Based on the info you've given. My advice is to grab Better Battery Stats from Play Store and run your phone normally for a couple of days.
The big problem with this phone is that it's impossible to put down though

ur mobile coverage is rather bad...
could be d cause.
looks normal to me for continue use.. screen, wifi, etc on almost the entire hour and a half. once the device goes idle/sleep the "awake" bar should not be blue, otherwise if it stays blue that means a app or something is keeping it awake.
I had avast anti virus and it was keeping my phone awake.. So I uninstalled that

That seems normal to me. I bought a second Samsung battery. Now, I'll never be afraid of running out of juice! It's worth it compared to getting a 4,000mAH battery that makes your slim samsung turn into an obese samsung. :fingers-crossed:

Music battery consumption

So ive been using my devices to listen to music since ive got my first android device and since i can remember this drains the battery almost as fast as leaving the screen on all the time.
On average my battery can do about 5 hours from 100% to empty and i think this is really bad. And this without doing anything else and screen off.
So any explanations why this is consuming so much juice?

If you turned the phone on and used it for 30 mins and then idle it for another 5 and 1/2 hours and it died... then something is wrong.
Rouge app causing wake ups 100% of the time?
Battery is a dud?

Sounds to me like the NSA is on to you my friend.
From the looks of your screen shot you have alot of things running in the background. Emulator, torrent and media servers drain battery quickly. I can get 2 days with my setup. But if I play words with friends my battery is dead in 4 hours. Some apps are just battery leeches. What Rom n kernel are you running.

Noticed you said you were in the hospital... How is the signal in there? If you have no signal, your battery will drain looking for a signal.
On your battery stats, click on the graph and screen shot so we can see your wake time.

Holy crap you have your screen on alot. What is your screen on time? If you are getting 4 or 5 screen on time, that isn't bad. Looks like your phone sleeps when screen is off which is good. I just think you are killing your battery with on screen time. Most people saying they get 1 to 2 day use don't have the screen on that much. I usually get 5 hours of screen time on 4g. However my 5 hour screen on time spands over 15 hours. Also depends on what you are doing when screen is on... Playing games drain vs checking email for example.
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
Here is my battery states... Can tell when I got off work and really started playing around with the phone. Was on 4g about 80 percent of the time.

Another app you can try (which) is free, is CPU spy to check if you is staying or stuck in a high speed frequency, say 1600 mhz
