Hello all, my capacitive buttons on evo 3d are broken (some day they just stop responding) , so i googled for solution, find nothing, then i ordered new digitizer, now digitizer is waiting for me to have money to repair my phone. But some days ago ill installed CM10 With sweep2wake option. When my phone is screen off, when i touch the home button (thats is not working) guess what. IT LIGHTS THE PHONE AND RECOGNIZE TOUCH. While i sweep from home to search - my phone unlock (So my buttons recognize touch) I am now like wtf? Is there a way to examine those buttons with some sort of programs or etc? Is there a way of repairing them without changing digitizer?
Best regards, Bazyl93

So the buttons only work for sleep to unlock or do they work like they should on the cm10 rom? If they do not work normally then it may be the s2w recognizes the area of the screen close to the buttons, but not the actual buttons.
Get kernel tuner and then go on to check with the brightness of capacitive buttons. There is a chance you have them at 1% and you can't make out if they are lit or not ...

Since I bought my Atrix, the lights of the buttons are like on the image below: back and search are fully dark. On full brightness, is OK (but menu and home is always a little brighter)
Is it normal? Until today I did not mind because the button work OK and I don't want to send to assistance only for that.
Does anyone know what can be? At my research, I found that the backlight of buttons is the same as the screen , right?

Nope, not at all. Those are two backlights controlled separately.
No idea what's going on with yours. As far as I know, soft buttons are backlit with a few white LED-s, I guess some of yours are just giving out.
Mines the same on CM10.

Hi there to everyone, I broke only the glass on my screen couple of weeks ago (it felt face down from about half a meter, thats stupid) and I change only the glass my self but since then i have a problem with the screen like: if I press a bit harder anywhere on the screen for about 2 sec the screen became irresponsible and also the back and menu buttons, home and power button work normal. If I press the home button it react as it should, it goes to home screen, so it's just the screen frozen on touch and I have to lock and unlock the phone to go to normal. On daily use it's not such a big problem as i don't press the screen too hard, the problem mostly occurs when playing games.
I would try a hard reset but I not rooted as I use some apps that don't work if I'm rooted and I can't save all my settings, saves and apps and personally I hate to reinstall everything back again.
I'm thinking this is a hardware problem but why it goes to normal only after lock/unlock procedure and i also find on a forum that this can be from the screen protector. It's something similar with the phone in this video the difference being that mine it freezing and that it moving by itself. youtube.com/watch?v=isBDKgxB5vs
Did anyone also experience this?
PS. I sorry for my english as it's not my own language but I'm trying to make my self clear as best as i can, Thank you
hello XDAexpertes
I have one of this Chinese phones that looks like want to go holidays forever, specifically a Star A3 (Mtk6575)
things is, for few days, soft keys start intermittently stop working, it did got funny because as I take out the back cover they work again, also, the screen protector was little dirty, so I took it off ...
but things have become worst, and up to the point to do not respond at all, but only soft keys, touch screen works perfectly. More over, and this is happening more and more, ghost strokes of the soft keys have start to appear
so I guess, touch screen has got wet(?), fail(?), nuts(?). Anything I could be doing to repair it ?
But my main question is:
- is any way to disable the soft keys (to prevent the ghost strokes) and enable some app to emulate the menu and options soft key (maybe shaking the mobile)
I just need it to make it works for sometime, so I am not without mobile up to purchase a new one.
It is funny, as the soft keys seems to be part of the screen it self, and not separate buttons or anything else. and the touch screen works, while the soft keys do not ...
I just noticed this yesterday. The home, menu, and back buttons (and sometimes the search button) aren't working. The rest of my touch screen does however. I've tried restarting my phone a few times. That sorta seems to help for a little bit... has anyone else had similar issues? Any possible solutions?

Change the touchscreen.
You just need a new digitizer.. I suggest just getting the new LCD screen with frame included to make the swap easy. I done the swap myself.

I recently dropped my Xperia Z2, the LCD and the Touchscreen both were dead. Therefor I bought a original LCD+Touch Replacement which was shipped to me a few days ago from the UK. I installed the new part, the lcd seems to work but my the touchscreen module doesn`t work proberly. It doesn`t recognise my fingers on the right spots, often doesn`t recognise any touches! then I have to reboot or turn of the display and then turn it on again. writing nearly is impossible, sometimes I have to press very very hard on the screen, sometimes my phone types things like "ladgnlaerhjnjhgdihhdgzghgzgzgzzgzgzgzgzgzgub" without me touching the screen. it also manages to unlock itself with when I use the swipe gesture for the lockscreen. is the touchscreen broken or is it the my rooted android 6.0.1 with xposed + twrp recovery?
