Right sorry if this is in the wrong section, and i do apologies.
Anyway, bought a locked O2 UK one x+, just had the code from O2 UK to unlock the phone, all has worked fine the phone is now not locked to any network.
Just a quick question now, i haven't rooted my phone yet, but if and when i do, and if things do go wrong, will i still have to use the UK O2 RUU or can i use the European Stock Rom RUU ??
Thanks for your time, regarding this matter.
regards
jeff

i would stick with the o2 RUU for now, but it don't hurt to try a Euro Stock RUU and let us know the results, worst case it wont flash
Thanks Lloir, will try it on the weekend. Will download both versions just to be on the safe side.
Check your cid mate, if its the same as the cids listed in the android-info.txt in the generic euro RUU, your good to go.

Do you know how to extract the rom.zip from a RUU? Inside the root of the rom.zip is a txt file, read that for the list of compatible cids. But if yours starts 02, it's prob not gunna be compatible

Hey there,
Sorry for the silly question, I bought the same phone from the same store and I wondered how you managed to unlock it, what is this O2 UK Code?

I know what he means, but how did he managed to unlock the phone without losing his warranty? Moreover, he says "just had the code from O2 UK to unlock the phone", where do you get that code from? That is my question. =)

I had an O2 handset unlocked but as it was purchased off someone else they wouldnt unlock it (Grrrr!) so i ended up purchasing an unlock code from eBay for £15.
If you want to know the seller PM me due to rules against posting that kind of information.

I bought might and returned right away once I found out that unlocked version (come pre-loaded with froyo 2.2) is sold online @Dell.com. Luckily, my cousin in the states helped me bought one and I should be getting it end of this month.
Ok Rogers is now releasing the codes for the Streak. It's the only sure way I know of unlocking with code.
does the phone "Have" to unlocked to update roms?
No but it does have to be rooted.

Anyway, today 3 Sweden said on their facebook page that their branded SGSII will have a locked bootloader, and after some questions they said that Samsung always locks the bootloader on branded versions. It got me really confused...isn't the SGSII from O2 in UK branded yet still have unlocked bootloader?
What do you guys think? Is there a good reason for Samsung to lock the bootloader on branded phones or is this just a misunderstanding on behalf of 3 Sweden?
If this now is true, do you guys think that it's a really hard lock or something that the geniouses here on XDA can solve?
From what I have seen it sounds as if they are confused, they probably assume we no nothing and are just talking about network lock (sim lock)
My SGS2 was from o2, it was network locked but not the bootloader. From other post it seems Samsung have said the will not lock the bootloader on the SGS2.
Yeah I really hope that too...
Here is the announcement translated from swedish:
We have talked to Samsung in Korea and received information that the phones from Samsung will be delivered with locked bootloader.
We apologize for the misinformation we went out with earlier today.

The easiest way would simply be to root the Galaxy S2, try using the zerg rush exploit and when you get root, everything is quite easy to do.
The long method will be going back to an earlier version of ROM that is directly rootable. Head over to the Galaxy S2 forums, there are tons of info on how to do that.

@OP, this is the I9100 forum, you do not have an I9100 and any advice people give you here is likely to be for the wrong device, like above, and likely to make your situation much worse.

Wrong forum, AND it sounds like he bought a device that is locked due to the PIN being mis-entered too many times. Possibly a stolen or lost device that someone hocked on eBay to try to make money off a poor, unsuspecting soul. (The OP, in this case, unfortunately)
This is what I am suspecting.
I am filing paypal case tomorrow morning and I don't want to be wrong side of law.
Is there a way to see whether or not my Xperia S is unbranded?

Moved to Q&A!
Type *#*#7378423#*#* in the dialer, you will find software information.
If you have unbranded phone it should be world generic.
Sent from my LT26i using Tapatalk 2
I think he wants to find out if the phone is simlocked to a specific network.
If someone were to flash a world generic firmware on a locked phone, it would not remove the restriction, even though the phone would report "World Generic".
Maybe calling Sony and giving them the IMEI will get you your answer, just an idea.
Hello Guys
I have a stupid question, can someone tell me how to unlock Xperia S so that I will be able to use any sim from any network? I have a chance to buy Xperia S on Monday but it is locked to 3 network in UK and I'm currently in Tesco Mobile. Please can someone help asap. Thanks
Maybe if you flash a world generic firmware.

That's why I am informing you. If you ask them to unlock a phone that was sold as a contract violation, it won't do you any good.

This would be the case if the original person bought it with contract. But if he got it sim free( pay as you go), then it is legal.
To answer the original question, the only way is to phone three themselves and ask for unlocking code, I think it is 20-30 pounds
I recently bought the Xperia U for my partner that was locked to the 3 network. They will unlock it, BUT the person on the contract will have to make th call and they will supply him with the code, can take up to a week for it as it comes from Sony themselves. I think the cost was about £15 for it.
