now my 3g net isnt working only WIFI and I cannot receive picture text messages.
Anyone know what I did wrong?
I did the rogers root!
Before, running on Android 1.6, I have no problem receiving picture messages and MMS on my Xperia x10. After the new software update, including the new Android 2.1 update, I can no longer receive picture messages. i always says "message not downloaded" and when tried to download, It pops up "could not download message, please try again later".

Some of the 2.1 firmware, Generic World, requires the APN to be put in manually.
Try search on APN.
Try the simtoolkit - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=876878
So I just edit the apns myself? What apns would I search for? Sorry im a noob.

Yes you need to add them yourself then you will get 3G working again (it will show an "H" icon rather than "3G". This is fine. H stands for HSPA+ which is faster than 3G)
what would the apn be for my mms picture messaging?

HI,
I loaded Serendipity 8 and think it's great. Only issue is that I am unable to send MMS messages. I checked on the DEV forum and tried the fix with deleting the telephony.db, but that did not fix it for me.
Anyone have any suggestions. I use this MMS a lot.
Thanks
David
Did u wipe data and cache in recovery before flashing? If not I'd recommend it. I didn't have a problem with it.

Yes. I also just reflashed and same issue. Just sticks at sending and then eventually times out. I was just using this yesterday on stock with no issues.

How is this done?
Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names
Create a new APN, (assuming you have AT&T) then:
Name: MMSC
APN: Phone
MMSC: hhtp://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
MMS Port: 80
APN Type: mms

Perfect. This fixed it. Thanks a million!!!
I've attempted all the suggestions above, as well as in the main thread, and no luck. The only thing I haven't tried is the one directly above--how would I push the unnamed mms .apk's to the system/app folder?
VERY new to the Android scene, but so far love the customization.
You would need to copy the two apk files to your phone. After that replace the current two files with these ones. I use root explorer file manager but I'm sure that many other will do just fine. Then restart your phone and you're all set.

Found a file manager, copied them over and reset phone. No noticeable changes, and most definitely can't send MMS. Unfortunate, as I really like S8 otherwise. Might have to try Unnamed though.

Heres my advice:
#1: Download CM7 on your computer
#2: extract MMS.APK from the app folder within the zip
#3: move that apk into your phone, and using root explorer, move it to your system/app folder. (back up your original apk first).
#4: make sure the permissions are correct.
#5: Enjoy perfect MMS messages that don't show up as pictures, and gain the opportunity to use black background and custom notifications settings.

I personally don't know how to explain this. In stock it works fine, switching to the UnNamed Rom worked fine, then with yours it just doesn't work. I shouldn't have to bring an apk or w/e from another Rom to Serendipity, and I shouldn't have to change APN or any other setting because I'm using a stock AT&T sim card. I'm not unlocked or anything so it should work. It, for some odd reason, does not work with your Rom...
Anyone else expirencing any issues reguarding MMS orientation? Whenever I upload a pic in my messaging app it comes out sideways.
It's really very annoying. Some workarounds suggested in my research has told me to try another camera app other than stock but I'd like to avoid that.
I can't even send MMS for some reason? Can I change the settings, or check that they are correct?

If Im not mistaken, my Captivate did the same thing... thats why I got used to taking pictures in landscape more. The pictures turn out better that way anyway, its in widescreen format and when you view a picture and put your phone in landscape mode, the picture fills up the whole screen.
Id still like to know why we cant have the option though...

Just wondering since there's not many people using the Xperia P on AT&T. Are you using the LT22i or the LT22a version? I have the LT22i and I keep on getting disconnected from the network, and a reboot becomes my only option to reconnect to the network (both calling and data). Pretty annoying, as it happens multiple times a day. Xperia Support told me that it's because my phone isn't made for the AT&T network, but the frequency bands match up so I'm not sure about what they say.

I thought your APN settings fixed it, but once a day (mostly at night) I get disconnected from the network and can't reconnect until I reboot. Oddly, my signal strength is frozen at full strength with the "H" (but no arrows going up or down).
Can I ask what firmware you have? I flashed my LT22i with a generic ICS rom from central europe. I don't know if that'll make any difference. If you have no problems, I'd just like to have basically the same exact phone as you, haha.
Thanks!!!!

I am using these settings, and it still doesn't do anything? Under the APNs, when it shoes the Phone settings, and ATT settings, are they both supposed to have a blue dot to the right of them? only the phone does. And for the ATT settings, The APN enable/disable is highlighted enabled, and not on the phone settings, does this have anything to do with it? Also is it supposed to be on the wcdma/gsm network, or just gsm netowrk? Thank you so much for the help!
