For phones running JB, it is not possible as JB does not support Flash out of the box. I have managed to get it installed, but the only way to get it work was to physically connect the phone to PC (or TV). Still, there is a delay between the video and subtitles (if you have any).
For Html4 you have Twonky Beam/Video, that is working quite well (and really does streaming!). But it it not find any solution for Flash.

so if i have a website with a falsh stream...i won't be able to play it on my phone? I have a blue box that shows up...probably delineating the plugin did not load. Wasn't sure if this was a javascript or a flash problem
You need to install Flash Player to your phone. Just go find an .apk from google for Flash.
You can try to install Dolphin Browser. However, any flash site will crash Dolphin in JB.
or go to older Android versions...

Hi guys
I've been wondering about this for a while now coz my phone browser doesn't load flash items.
Has anybody out there able to use flash player yet?
I seem to have the same problem. At first it shows just a timeglass, then it shows a "non-parking" sign..
Newer flash content doesn't work (that made with flash more than a certain version number, I don't recall right now what that is). Hopefully future updates will include a newer flash player when it is available.
See my Orange Update thread, same problem for me.... I get that window and hourglass, but Fox/Dave says he can view youtube desktop version, which I've never been able to get. I think some can/some can't.
Ok, going into YouTube and selecting the desktop version, when I pick a video I get the hour glass, which is then replaced by a normal YouTube video "window" with a large play icon. When I click on this, I'm taken to the "HTC Flash Player" (i.e. the video does not play in the window) and the video starts.
The one I've just tried can be found at this link - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VAgir4WlQ4U
Regards,
Dave
Nice vid! and totally believable
No, I don't get that on the HTC, it won't take me to the player. But there are loads of sites with Flash that it won't let me play either. Do you ever go to vids through the youtube app and still not get it to play? There's is a fair bit that won't play for me.
So I was browsing the Tab forum and I saw that there was a hack to make Hulu work on the Tab even though Hulu tries to block mobile devices. Here's the link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=855898
What I wanted to know is, will this work for Archos too? I know that there is already a hacked version of Flash for the Archos, so I know it's possible to do this.
Any thoughts?

Dunno if I'm way off here, but wouldn't changing your User Agent fix this?
just use dolphin hd browser and set user agent to desktop
I believe what hulu does is it detects what kind of flash your using. it doesn't accept the flash that adobe released for mobile devices. so user agent doesn't solve it. but I can't say I know if that flash hack works for Archos, I might test it later
User agent does not work for me in Dolphin HD
No success. Any other tips? I am willing to try.
I followed his instructions to hexedit the file and HULU is now working in Dolphin Browser. But it is so slow and choppy that is completely unwatchable.
We might have better luck once we get the GPU optimized version of flash from archos.

Theoretically using a proxy website (or anonymous browsing website) might work. However since it transmits from hulu to another site, and then to you it might be slower than other methods (like simple browser masking).

Are the other videos you watch online choppy as well? Where did you get your version of flash? (Is it one downloaded from the market, or is it the gregmattersen droid x version that was posted on the archosfans site?)
I used gregmattersen droid x version. I just tried a youtube video and it was choppy too but not as much as the Hulu site.

yeah but the bitrates aren't even comparable. Hulu uses 5x or more what youtube does on SD... that means lag in streaming and lag in processing.
I think the optimized version of flash is the answer, once Archos gives it to us. nice to know we can hexedit it and get it working though
Flash widget

It may not be ideal, but for the time being people who are interested in watching Hulu might be able to get it to run through the widget linked on the page below. Since its running through a widget in a smaller size it may not be as taxing on the system and allow video to play smoother (until an optimized flash comes out).

What version of flash did you hack? I would think you would need root to do this? Can you sure your hacked version of flash so I can test it?

I used the one from this post http://forum.archosfans.com/viewtopic.php?p=284672#p284672
Sorry I don't have the files anymore, I deleted them since it's totally unwatchable plus I don't have root anymore with the latest firmware.
I don't know if you all heard, but Hulu Plus (the paid version) will be coming to Android soon.
archos 70 hulu not working
ok first off, i am a major league amateur when it comes to hacking, rooting or anything so i will need bigtime simple step by step instructions.
i have an archos 70 with the latest firmware update. i wanna watch netflix and hulu on it via my hdtv. i know hulu blocks droid/mobile devices. i tried the user agent switch, the hulu widget and the fixed flask apk. i probably am doing something wrong but idk what.
any and all help will be appreciated. thanks!!
I think the only way this will ever work with any margin of success is to capture the stream that is coming from Hulu on a computer and recompress the content to something with an appropriate resolution/quality for playback on the device.
Or download the torrents of your favorite shows...
archos 70 streaming netflix and hulu
so far i have had no luck with anything. tried teamviewer on my computer, using the archos to access it, but the video was so laggy it was unwatchable. sure hope someone figures out how to trick hulu or netflix so i can stream it thru my archos 70 onto my hdtv.
again, total noob here, with no clue how to hack anything but willing to learn.
Hello all,
As maybe some know, Adobe's Flash player in Android has a feature. The object doesn't activate if it is not in focus (or maybe touched?). This seems to be a security or battery performance related improvement as Adobe puts it.. However, it is really annoying.. Because;
You can't listen to most of the radio stations, or playlists even, if you send them to background. I love to listen to some of my favorite music while reading the daily news.. As many other have pointed out in the following threads:
Thread ID: 854896, 672639, 543354, 489142
I am writing this question here, as this is an Android Flash player implementation issue and this behaviour is by design. There may be many ways to modify the Flash player, or modify the browser to make the Flash Player act as if it is in the foreground even if it is not..
So can anyone work on this? Or maybe we can submit some kind of CR to CyanogenMod issue list? Better yet, how can we submit this problem to Adobe's developers/designers?
Or maybe a hacker has already read this and has solved it already
Thanks a lot..
Maybe this works on other (Sense?) phones, but I know this worked on my 3.29 stock rooted Evo. In the browser you can hit menu > windows and then open a new window, and then close the new window. Now you will still be in the windows view, but are "hovering" above the window you have your Flash content in. Now you should be able to hit the home button and do other things.
I would suggest just using a real music player/radio app.....

x2... I think most, (if not all) standalone music/radio apps will run happily along in the background.

True, but most (if not all) standalone music/radio apps won't play arbitrary flash content online.
I know somebody who likes to listen to a particular TV program, and typically networks only make these available via flash. I'm sure if he works at it he can extract the audio on a computer or find it on a torrent or something, but it would be nice if this were at least an option.
Of course, compared to a normal app I imagine it would suck down a lot more power.
I've found a way to have a Flash webpage running on the background without needing to hack Flash Player on ICS. I stumbled across an unadvertised "feature" of the Dual Screen Browser app by Curry Cat v2.1.
All you have to do is launch the Dual Screen browser, do a google search for the flash web page you want, and once the audio starts playing just hit the OS Home button and the audio keeps playing in the background. It blew my mind.
The device I got this working on is a stock ASUS Transformer TF101 w/ ICS (v4.0.3)
Dual Screen Browser has a bunch of FC and seems to be heavily reliant on the stock browser some how. If you get FC when trying to launch it try the following:
Open stock Browser, press OS Home button, then relaunch Dual Screen Browser
Turn internet connection off, then relaunch Dual Screen Browser
Dual Screen Browser appears to be better optimized for flash/html5 video playback in portrait mode. I had two flash videos playing at the same time on each screen without much of a performance hit.
When in landscape mode pick the left most screen. It plays movies better without cutting off part of it.

Wow, I even forgot that I asked this question. But your solution seems very promising. Well, I'd still like to see HTML5 work in the background to (for the obvious reason that I want to play a youtube playlist while screen off ) Well if I'd have to install a separate app, I think there are other players that does this already.
Thanks anyways.. (Sorry for the late response)
I am using "nextvid" to play youtube videos on the backgroud, no need for hacking it does it by default( free app)

I catn seem to view video on my Gtablet. I am running Bottle of smoke and have flash instatlled. should I put something on my ssettings? Does anyone n eed more info. I can only view you tube but nothing on facebook or nothing sent to me via email. Really want to see an email sent and I have to pull up my email on my phone or laptop. This kill the reason for having my tablet if I have to keep going back to my phone and laptop. PLEASE HELP> Will try anytthing but I need some advise.
BOS doesn't support flash in the stock browser (there is a workaround in the BOX OP over at slatedroid). For full flash support you could check out Flasback (honeycomb) or one of the many popular Froyo/Gingerbread based Roms.
I'm not very knowledgeable about the ROMs. I bought this tablet used and it already had BOS enstalled.
Is there anywhere I can find step by step instructions on how to change the ROM in order to get all my video access. Please advise. I am not real familiar but eager to learn.
Mobo Player in Market
From your post it is unclear to me if you're having issues watching Flash videos or with video files in general. If you are having trouble watching videos then I would suggest you download this free video app from the Market and the free codec pack and you should be able to watch any video on your gTab.
MoboPlayer
Codec for ARMV7VFP3
This site has the tutorials you'll need to change roms. http://viewsonic-gtablet-for-dummies.webs.com/
For the best video performance go with something froyo based.
Ok so I've had the S3 since yesterday and needless to say its a pretty incredible piece of kit.
However I've encountered two problems I can't get around;
1. I can't seem to get my music player onto the lock screen to easily change track, I've tried a variety of players but none seem to take over the lock screen no matter what settings are used? Anyone know a fix?
2. Whenever I use the internet on my phone using desktop mode or any internet browser, when trying to watch videos other than on Youtube I always get the "You need Flash" instead of the video, I never had this problem on my Note...
Are there any quick fixes to this? I don't want to root my device...
For 2) it's probably a case of you needing to go the Play Store and downloading Adobe Flash
Sent from my CM9 TouchPad
Haha
I would have thought by the fact i'd posted here it would have been assumed Id already downloaded Flash .
I have Adobe Flash Player 11 with the fix for ICS, however playing videos I could on my Note just isn't happening on the S3 and i'm not sure why!

If there are videos with commercials, it can be that the popup blocker of the browser blocks them.
It happened to me too just because the website I tried, needed to have the commercials downloaded first before it could start the playback.
Are you using the same browser on both phones?
About the first problem it works ok for me so i really dont know. (stock music player)
the above two problems are not major!! i will tell you a major problem and that is an auto focus issue while recording video looses its focus and moves too and fro awkwardly video help help!
I have the same problem as number 1: The stock music player on the galaxy s3 does not appear to have any control on the lockscreen. It's strange because on my Galaxy S it works perfectly.. Anybody have ideas on how to resolve the issue, without going to 3rd party apps/widgets?
It's annoying but at least you can pull down the notification bar and get it there.
Also the headphones do volume but not tracks... F'n annoying.
I find the music player a bit ****, wish I had access to Google Play Music from 4.0.
The only way is pull down the notification bar

In order for you to play the videos using the browser, you need to switch back to android mode(phone mode), the flash player, especially the adobe one, do not support desktop mode.
To sort it, you need a flash player that supports desktop mode which i don't know if there is already existing app like that.
So, there is no way to get it working properly, only notification bar? That's weak..
Btw. I have also problems with flash. Youtube works fine but sometimes it just keeps loading and doesn't play ( from the internet browser). What's the deal with all these issues, I thought SG3 will be flawless..
I wanted to follow up on this, I find the music player extremely annoying. The headphones not changing track I can live with for the time being.
Any solution on how to access the on screen music player besides the notification bar from the lock screen?
