I'm looking for some experienced Android developers to assist me with a tablet note-taking app. I'm open-sourcing it under the Apache license, but probably will monetize it on the market.
The general idea is to be able to capture a lecture or meeting's audio, and put in text, graphic, and handwritten annotations. Then, when you are replaying the meeting or lecture, you visibly see a waveform of the audio with notes, images, etc. below, describing what is going on and providing more detail.
Notes will be grouped into sections. The app will be designed for API level 11 or higher.
Let me know if you're interested.
Fantastic! This is JUST the kind of app I'll be looking to use. Let me know and I'll gladly beta test for you and be a first day buyer. Good luck!
If you build just the handwriting portion and create a penultimate-like android version, I will buy
I've been working on a notes application since my partner got his xoom last weekend, better beat me to it

If you can't beat them join them?
+1 to buying it!
Sounds like a good idea for meetings too. Could you insert bookmarks for notes for the audio? So if you're browsing the notes you can jump to that section of audio?

I had to stop as I don't have a xoom yet, I was working on it all last weekend. It will definitely start out as only a text based quick notes interface, then expand from there.

That's the whole idea.
This would be a must have for any college xoom owner, +1 for buying the app
I'm having trouble seeing how this would be useful without an active digitizer and pen..
don't get me wrong, this could still be a very cool app and I hope you get it working
but I don't think I'll be straying from my windows tablet with onenote any time soon
if you got this working on the htc flyer on the other hand, we might have something I could use as my only note taking device for university.
I probably wouldn't buy the flyer anyway though. The xoom is just so much nicer
Edit: Before someone starts saying how I could just get a capacitive pen, you have no idea what you're missing until you've tried a wacom or n-trig pen(especially wacom). It's like night and day.

Yes. That would be me for the next 5-6 years, so absolutely yes.

My roommate has a wacom... I know i can't compete with quality of handwriting on most hardware, but I can make the software easier to use. The easier the software, the better the notes will tend to be, plus I really want the audio to provide a lot of power, with the handwritten, typed, and other inserted notes only supplementing the audio and making it searchable/disoverable.
well.. I look forward to seeing what you come up with =]

i have a capacitive stylus for my ipad and it works beautifully for taking handwritten notes. Penultimate & note taker HD are the best ones imo
I'll buy the first app that rivals Penultimate.
I just looked up penultimate on youtube
it's definitely not bad
but it still doesn't rival onenote
not by a long shot
and I was surprised at well capacitive pens were working for people
but again, it still doesn't really come close to an active digitizer
now, I'm sure this app will still be great
and I could definitely see people using it to quickly describe something to someone or maybe for a few quick notes at a meeting
but there's no way it's going to be able to be used for taking notes at university
I'll stick with my fujitsu tablet
but like I said, I do look forward to seeing what this app will be able to do
it will definitely have it's uses
I've been thinking about making a note taking app myself it would be good to collaborate!

I've been "working on" a note taking app too I have drawn some designs for it and me and a few friends (all of us programmers, but no Android experience) are gonna try to get started on it.
Good luck!
Google "Galaxy Note clone" I guess this is all the proof we need to show that the Note is a huge success. The worst part is gonna be the flood of silly clones with embarrassing specs. First we had iPhone clones now Galaxy Note clones, who's gonna buy this?
EDIT:
To keep the complaining to a minimum and keep the thread on topic here a link in case you cannot follow instructions http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...action=devloc&q=galaxy+note+clone&v=133247963
Sorry about not posting a link when I made the thread. I had no idea it would upset people.

Notice in the video that the battery and charger are OEM samsung products and even comes in a real galaxy note box. These are probably the best three features.
Can you include some more info on this post. Like maybe pictures or a link.

Usually when people want to alert other people of something...they include a link. How about if I say..."Theres an awesome mod for the GNote to double it's RAM, just search YouTube and you'll find it!"

OMG can people really not follow instructions anymore? It was preety simple and to the point, google "galaxy note clone" that is as simple as it gets. Not everybody needs links cause they are too lazy to type in a search bar. I put very easy instruction on how to find the clones so if you cannot follow them its your fault. Back to the topic, I found two clones one has a 5.0 inch screen and one has a 5.3 inch screen. After you type "galaxy not clone" in your search bar they will both come up on the first page of results. I think one is called "hdc i9220 galaxy note" but not sure what the other is called but its made by a company called Kente.

Simply put, to get your info across and to get replies, you should provide that info. Why should we have to work for YOUR topic?

I was not askin anyone to work and could care less how many people reply. If you call making 17 keystrokes on your keyboard work then its your problem. Please stop the complaining. This stuff is all over overseas there are knock offs of anything.
I got some "puma" shoes for 8 bucks
Some of the stuff is so funny they put name brands on anything even stuff that brand doesn't make

Ive actually played with a knock off iphone 4 before. Let me tell you...its way different. The software is awful. The hardware feels cheap. The fitments didnt match up correctly. The only thing that was cool was the dual sim option. If you travel overseas a lot, the dual sim option comes in handy. For the price, theres no complaining. Remember, the iphone might be the best selling phone in the US but the Sgs2 is the best selling in other countries. So yes, the Note has some success in popularity. Imagine if the Note was released on all 4 carriers in the US...I would think the 5 million shipped would be easily 10 million.
-Once you go NOTE, you'd say 4 inches a Joke

Funny how some knock offs have features that we don't. The dual sim option would be really nice to have for some people.
But for those not fortunate enough to own a note, this is a semi–decent alternative

No surprise here. They copy cars, why not phones. And usually the exterior is pretty close, but the innards always lack

Hey hey! I never though I would go with Sammy, ever since my terrible experience with the Galaxy Tab 7 Plus, I didn't think I would go with another sammy product. Now, I'm an owner of the Note 3 + Gear. I do have a question though...I bought the folio case by samsung where it has the small window. I was wondering if we can switch out the widgets on s-window (I believe that's how they call it), also if the background can have an image and not just color?
Thanks!:good:

Hey sorry to go off topic but I have a note 3 sitting on my desk unopened. I am contemplating on whether to keep it or not because of the call quality issue. Just wondering how your phone is so far and do you have any calling issues? I could care less with the tri-band thing as I don't see it happening anytime soon. Sprint always talks a big game but never delivers. Would appreciate any feedback. Thanks in advance.

It's so far the best phone I've had. However that's my opinion on it, and it suits my needs. I'm not sure what your needs are, and suggest that you do some research for yourself if it's a phone that you want. I mean, asking this question in a Galaxy Note 3 forum will most likely have a lot of people say positive stuff about it and why they think you should keep it.

So, any news about this??
All - I searched and didn't find a thread like this.
My wife have a pair of Samsung Galaxy S 4G that are starting to show their age a bit. Considering the HTC One as an upgrade.
This is one of the phones T-Mobile has listed when I filter by Android/4G/Wifi calling.
Curious if some of you can chime in with what you like and don't like about the phone.
Thanks much in advance!

ive been with my htc one for over a month now, traded a Note2 for it, and i dont regret it works flawlesly, the most amazing feature that still blows me away the speaker souns with beats audio :victory: , i myselg have to use wifi calling at home and like i said just perfect. but theres a lot info online, you shoul see a couple of video reviews and read, like i say its an importatn decision and maybe it metts my expectations and needs but not yours so at the end of the day its a personal choice good luck.
Thanks for the reply, and good idea.

Check pushingbox.com to see if it's working. You need to give it a few hours before it fully registers.
I miss the old days when I had an iPhone and I would spend hours hacking and jailbreaking it just to get normal android type functionality. It was actually kind of fun. Seems stupid to go back to the stone age tho
