Stuck on green android loading screen - AT&T LG Optimus G

Last night I decided to LGNPST back to stock. Everything seemed to go fine. The phone booted up but all of my apps and data were still there. I tried to go to settings, general, and factory reset but for some reason it would not reset. I then turned the phone off, held volume down and power, it booted into the hard reset screen and I pressed power to reset. My phone has been stuck on the green android loading screen all night. I did try to LGNPST again but it boots up to the green android again. I tried to power down and restart, it boots up to the green android. I have no idea what to try now. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Think I remember someone saying this happened to them and they let it sit for 20 minutes on the green android then held power in until the phone shut off then did another hard reset and it fixed it.
Not sure if it was the same problem you have.

I tried the hard reset a couple of times, but I don't remember if it was after 20 minutes though. I'll try again tonight.

Go to the irc channel linked in the freegee post and ask in there.

Oh wow i just realized i did see this thread and responded to it and then couldnt find it when it happened to me.
I advise no one does this
LGNPST - reboot - settings backup & reset (reset then fails) - reboot to stock recovery - factory reset = equals stuck on green android forever = brick
Your phone will show in adb devices but thats about it.

[Q] Screen responds only to power button

In the latest installment in the saga of my strange Streak, it has decided that it no longer wants to behave and the screen responds only to the power button - as in I can turn it off by pressing the power button and the screen will allow me to select that "yes, I do indeed want to shut down my phone." I guess those few days were a last gasp before it let go.
It doesn't even respond when I try to go into Fastboot.
I used the buttons to accomplish a factory reset, which was no help.
It appears to be well and truly toast now, unless I can get an update.pkg onto the external card and be saved by a factory update.
Anybody else ever see this?
You can put the file on your sd card while it is out of the phone and then put it back in or you can access the sd card while in StreakMod Recovery from the advanced options screen. If you have StreakMod installed it would have to be an update.zip. If you have stock recovery put the update.pkg on the sd card that matches your recovery.
Some of my hard buttons didnt work untill I did the screen reset in recovery

Do you mean screen calibration or factory reset?
It's working again. All the buttons were working so I did a screen calibration and another factory reset while getting ready to go home last night.
When I got home the replacement was waiting for me. Smooth as silk. I played the hell out of my new favorite time sucking game last night (Stupid Zombies) and not a single hiccup. I'd love to lose some of the extra apps, but I think I am going to leave well enough alone this time.
Good too hear.....and I did mean screen calibration.....glad you got new one though

Screen on after charging

Hi there!
I have the following problem with my S3 (bualf1 austrian vodafone branding )
The screen stays on after the charger is plugged and the screen turns on after charging is complete!
I've done a factory reset and the problem has seemed to solved, but yesterday the problem has occured again!
I've really tried everything (every option, enabling / disabling everything, uninstalling apps, ...)
When shutting the phone down, the screen reacts as supposed (turns off while charging )
Any suggestion for me?

same problem as mine, occured only once. my workaround is by manually lock the phone (press power button). what kernel you use?
Are you absolutely sure this is not linked to a software you have installed?
There are certain titles that allow you to leave the screen on whilst being charged. Look carefully, it could be quite obscure.
As you said, it cleared when you did a Factory Reset but has now returned ~ thus indicating a recently installed App has resumed the screen on operation.
In reference to the phone coming on when fully charged, that is normal but the most likely reason it is not going back off again is due to whatever App setting you have that is then telling the phone once the screen is on keep it on.

Stock kernel, stock (austrian branded) firmware!
Manually locking works for me, but when den charging is finished the phone's display turns (and stays) on - that is my problem!

Thats the same thinkings i have, but i didn't managed to find out, what app this could be...
the strange thing is, it works as intended when no power source is plugged (screen turns off after 30 seconds), it just doesn't turn off while charging
no idea anyone?

I'm afraid without knowing which Apps you have installed it would be difficult to find the culprit.
If it were me I would do the following:-
1. Factory Reset again only this time do it from Recovery ~ [The recovery mode in Samsung Galaxy S III can be entered by pressing the Volume Up Key, Center button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button]
2. From the options provided select Wipe data/factory reset and also you need to select Wipe Cache partition and then reboot your device by selecting reboot system. You now have a completely cleared system so the next stage is important.....
3. Just install the settings, nothing more and certainly don't let Google Play reinstall your Apps.
4. Connect your power cable and see if once the S3 is charged the screen comes ON to notify you it is charged BUT THE SCREEN THEN TURNS OFF after a brief period. If it does then you at least will know under the basic setup your phone is fine. Now another slow but probably most important bit........
5. Start installing your Apps (say ten at a time) and then reboot your phone when all ten are installed and again start charging the phone.
At this stage we want to see what happens after charging is complete. If all is fine you then know what Apps are installed don't effect the screen ON problem, so continue installing another ten Apps and again reboot the phone and apply the charger to see if once charged the screen turns ON then OFF.
Continue repeating this procedure until you notice after a charge the screen this time does not turn OFF.
6. Right..... you now know the problem is being caused by one of the last ten Apps you installed. So, uninstall each App in turn (making sure you reboot each and every time you uninstall) and again recharge. This should eventually lead to one individual App that has caused the problem (the remaining Apps you uninstalled from the last ten can now be re-installed).
7. Investigate that App thoroughly to see if it alters anything on your phone that is causing the problem. Also name the App so we can look at it too.
It's a slow process granted but it's the only way you are going to find out what is causing the issue.
Basically, if it's happening from a fresh Factory Reset (via Recovery using the methods I mentioned above) then it's an issue directly with the phone.
If all is well then it's an issue with an individual App.
Good Hunting......
Same thing happened to me today and i never noticed it happen before..
Went to plug the phone in and the screen was on so i figured "Oh it will turn off after 15 seconds like usual" came back 5 minutes later still on.... uhh okay, so i hit the power button the screen went off.. I went to the restroom came back.. SCREEN BACK ON AGAIN? hmmm dubya tee eff? Turned it off again with the power button.. This time it stayed off..
Stock firmware latest upgraded 2 days after the 4th of the july.
Which firmware do you have?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Well, that's what i've done:
1.) factory reset
2.) reinstall all settings and mailaccounts
3.) reboot and see if it still works
4.) install and configure 5 apps
5.) reboot and see if it still works
6.) repeat steps 4. und 5. as long as all apps are reinstalled and reconfigured
and so, finally the guilty app was found!
EXTENDED CONTROLS causes the problem, that the screen stays on when a charger is plugged!
Tested it on all 4 own mobiles, all of them are working as normal again!!!
THANKS BEARD!!!

Is my phone bricked?

It just randomly shut off earlier this afternoon. Everytime I try to turn it on with the power button, nothing happens. When I try to boot into TWRP/download mode, it just vibrates and flashes the samsung logo and then goes black. I can't seem to find any information as to what else to try. I don't have a jig and the earliest one would be shipped on amazon is Thursday. Any ideas?
wow, so i had been reading threads for the last hour and finally stumbled upon some guy with the same issue and he figured out it was that his power button was stuck. i just pushed in my power button really hard for about 5 seconds and jiggled it and it finally worked. my phone just turned on as normal after doing that. great, sounds like ANOTHER samsung issue with the power button. this will be my 3rd different samsung device that i've had issues with the power button - a captivate, infuse, and now the note. i send about 20,000 texts a month, so i'm constantly pressing the power button to turn the screen on and off. i will need to look for an app that allows me to use the volume button as the power button hopefully in case this happens again.
I had a samsung tablet that had the bad power button getting stuck too.

Use Flappjaxxx UCLF6 rom....build #5....
It's ICS 4.0.4 with a "bunch " of extras .....volume wake included .....g http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1664980
Theres and app that allows you to swipe your hand across the screen to turn on/off.... Its in the app section.

Be careful using apps that wake your device using homescreen touch or movement .
It generally means that your phone never goes into deep sleep...
And the battery life will be greatly reduced ....as the device technically never turns off ....g

[Q] Non-rooted phone with stock rom stuck on Samsung logo

Hi everyone,
I've tried using search on my problem, but most of the time people who experience it have some custom ROMs or been flashing them, or doing some other modifications.
I've just been charging my phone, everything was working, until it charged to 100%, but forgot to unplug it just then. Next time I looked at it, it was off. I've held the power button and got a message "Android is updating.. starting apps", which was weird, as even official updates don't install themselves without confirmation - what update then? As it was stuck on that screen for more than 20 minutes, I've turned it off, and back on. The the Samsung S II I900 logo appears, the sound of booting, and a Samsung glowing logo, on which it's stuck forever.
I've tried a battery pull, tried leaving it overnight with that glowing logo, so it discharged and turned itself off, but it's all the same, it doesn't go past the logo.
I really don't want to lose some data I have there - mostly messages and some app data, which I'm not sure is backed up on google servers somewhere. I'm doing a backup for photos, but still, some can be lost if I do some plain factory reset.
What can I start with to try and bring it to life?
Sorry if it's a noob question that's being asked frequently.
Funny thing, I'm waiting for a Nexus 5 to arrive, as my SGSII is old and weird, and I guess it has sensed the treason, hehe. :\

Press volume up button+home button+power button. Press these three button at a same time to go into recovery mod.
As you are facing bootloop you have to do wipe data and wipe cache it will delete your apps and messages. I think this is the only solution to fix your phone at this stage.

that's not good news..
I was thinking of flashing some stock rom, like the one you get in a Kies updates, the no-wipe type.. Do you think it might work or I shouldn't even try?
hmm anyone? please?)
maybe there's still a way to access some data?
Just install a stock with Odin. All yr data will still be there. Cheers

G3 backlight turns off after booting.

I got an old G3 VS985. At first it seemed broken beyond fixing but then I realized the backlight turns off after the Android logo comes on. It will be on when off and charging as well. Using a flashlight, I managed to navigate the menu and factory reset. The backlight stayed off throughout the reset and I forced it to shutdown when it started setup and asked for the language because I still couldn't see. But when I turned it back on, it was working properly. However, after a while it went to sleep and when I tried to use it again it was back to the issue. I managed to boot I to the recovery menu and cleared the cache. After that, it rebooted and the screen worked again. I pressed the power button to shut the screen off and back on a few times and it still worked. I left it for a few minutes and it's back to no backlight. I was going to try and reset from the recovery menu but I was only able to get into the menu that one time for some reason. Maybe the instructions I've found are wrong but I tried a few things and can't get back to it. I also checked for updates and it said there aren't any. It's just an old phone that someone didn't want that I thought I could give to my kid to play games with, so not activated or anything. I don't know if it's a hardware issue but it doesn't seem like it because it works for a bit after reset. Any ideas? Also, how can I get into recovery mode every time?
