Just wait for the Sony Yuga or Odin. - HTC Droid DNA

Much more compact than the DNA, buttons won't be flush or in bad places, and will most likely have more than 16gb of storage. Problem solved.

You actually believe either of those will go to Verizon? One of them won't even come to America. Maybe we should all wait for the Galaxy S V.

Looks nice to me and Ericsson & Sony has made some quality hardware before. I unfortunately can't say the same about HTC.

Yep, HTC hasn't made any great phones. Yet, my HD2 can run just about every major OS and is more up to date than most android phones...

Huh? HTC has been making quality phones up until the HTC Sensation (which I called out as a crap phone ever since it first leaked).
The HOX is a fairly decent device TBH. If they had just thrown 2gb of ram, it would best even the GS3.

The One X is nowhere near the quality of the GS3. Multi tasking sucked, it was the most awkward phone ever when charging due to the micro USB slot placement, my two Rogers versions couldn't receive text notifications for 4 months, the screen was loose and creaky, the Sim slot wasn't flush, the silver camera back cover of the Rogers version next to the LED wasn't properly seated, the buttons felt horrible etc, and 16gb wasn't nearly enough etc.
That phone was terrible and the DNA honestly isn't that much better. You guys should seriously try another Android brand, it is a total eye opener on just how bad HTC is. Besides, why would anyone want to give Apple $20-30?

You have got to be younger than 18 if not I see absolutely no reason for this to be here if you want to complain to HTC or about them facebook HTC is a start .
I have the US version s3 , I9300 int, the epic touch 4g , DNA and evo lte . The best as of now is DNA the most dev support is I9300.
But as far as screen power and not having to reboot my device with all the other phones I have to stop the ram issue is great to me .
I think you are very wrong but understand your hatred to HTC I've had most the high end HTC and Sammy and both have had many goods and bad . So the fact you are not in the slightest in agreement that the DNA , dlx and j- butterfly are not good if not the better phones out is silly .
Yes there is issues but all devices do right .
Edit . Also let him vent to be honest it makes me interested in what he's gonna come with next

Poor battery...That's all
The only problem lies in DNA is it's poor battery timing, and if you combine it with Full HD display. it sets worse, if only they had given an awesome battery......this set could revolutionized the world.....

It should have come with a 2500-3000mh bat with SD card slot, then most would not have a issue. That and the nexus 4. LOL

Razr or rezound?

I am up for upgrade and i keep bouncing back and forth from razr to rezound. Which one will be better future proof and better over all. I do want root, but just for tb and tether. Opinions? Thanks

Let me dive a little further on what i like and dislike about each phone. I hate the red soft keys. I dont like a non removable battery, unless it has good battery life. I want it to be fast, and i think the rezound may be a touch faster. I want a decent camera, not pro quality tho. I will switch launchers to go ex so its ok with any skin. I do want to be able to turn just my data off. I like that. Can the data on the razr be turned off while still being able to make a call? Can the red soft keys be made white on the rezound?

I don't know what to buy, I'm still caught up in the mix between Sensation XE, Galaxy Nexus and RAZR. But in my opinion, if you live in the US, Rezound is definitely the best choice, if an international version was announced my mind will be sat on it without any hesitation, it would relive me from knowing the winner of that triple-threat match cause it easily knocks all of them most specs wise (GN got no SD card smfh) and support-wise.
Of course, that is unless you care about the design a lot .. cause Rezound ain't good-looking as the Razr, not even close.
Its those damn soft keys being red that makes me not want it. I personally do not like that. Seems feminine to me. If they were white, i would prolly go with that. Im on vzw in the usa. Any reports on battery life yet on razr? Sometimes i need long life on battery while away from charger. Mainly when i got hunting. Otherwise, i always have a charger. One at home work and in truck.

Wow, you don't think much do you? I really hope your post is suppose to be sarcastic.
Rezound is just another Quallcomm S3 spu equipped device like the evo3d but it is clocked at 1.5ghz. The 300mhz speed bump doesn't help it to be faster than a TI OMAP4430 soc since omap4 is has real dualcore cortex a9 architecture unlike the Rezound offering a A8 based enchanced "a9" cpu. I would choose the Razr day and night against the rezound and i am sure many will do the same. Since OMAP4 the referance SOC for the ICS, there shouldn't be any questions. Painting the phones back cover and earpiece grill, overclocking the same cpu doesn't help. Htc should learn that.
Well the Sensation isn't exactly well known for good battery life, and my Desire HD was dreadful. So until they prove they can sort that problem out, I have no interest in any HTC handset.

well, battery can be unscrewed and replaced, i'm sure
i don't know but I seriously doubt HTC Rezound has anything except the (super) high resolution.
But can the phone specs manage that? A lesson learned from the HTC Desire HD...never ever trust Android + HTC + Super High display Resolution...
You will be kicking yourself later..

Yeah, little details like that would be good to know. Turning off 3G whilst abroad is a real pain to do on my wifes moto phone, hopefully they've simplified that on the new raze
he is right, galaxy nexus has not got sd card slot... and there is not going to be a 32gb version... at least clove said don't wait that (even sgs2 has no 32gb...)
The Galaxy Nexus does NOT have an SD card slot. 16gb and 32gb versions have been discussed but who sees the 32gb version, and when, it still a bit vague.
Im due an upgrade in 3 weeks and based on the non-expandable Nexus, and the lack of the Rezound in the UK, im now looking at the RAZR or the Sensation XE .....
Facts are spoken though, Galaxy Nexus does not have an SD card, which ruined the whole thing for me. It's a great phone tbh, but SD cards are a must regardless of the phone's internal capacity.

I'm in the same boat, the RAZR is the better device but the dev support (And HTC's reliable updates) of the Sensation (XE or no XE) is getting me confused. I'm leaning towards the RAZR but I don't believe it'll last as long as the Sensation will, software wise. If you made a decision lemme know.

Sensation XE has a pretty stylish design with the red (read: red, it isn't pink-ish red, it's #FF0000, I saw it live [I was suspicious too] but it's great) and it's well-rounded, fair-sized and it goes with the headphone perfectly. The red color though might not really fit business, but in my case, the modern design and red color it's pretty fantastic for me. It isn't more girly than the RAZR with it's thin casing and Motorola logo.

dont mind the design of the sensation XE to be honest. a mate has the standard sensation and i must say i was very impressed with the screen ....
i also like sense (for occasional use)
but .... recent HTCs have had awful battery life, and i like the sturdier build of the razr ....
3 weeks to go and i will change my mind at least a dozen more times

umm.. as with the iphone, the battery may not be a simple "slide off back cover, remove battery"... but you can replace the battery. it's just more a matter of completely opening up the phone(as you would to say replace the screen).
I've replaced iphone batteries many times for friends/work. you do it once, then its no big deal. just with the iphone/razr setup, its obvious there will be no extended battery at all.
on a side note, the razr is mainly about looks. not to say it isn't a good phone or anything... it does have nice specs and will most likely last you some time. as far as 'razr vs rezound' goes though, the rezound isn't quite as sexy, but it is a more powerful phone with more features.
basically, if you want the best, get the rezound.. if you want something stylish/sexy, get the razr.
To be honest Im not too bothered about battery as my Desire barely lasts a day so I am used to charging from a PC at work and also in my car...
plus all these external battery packs (such as the one being advertised by Duracell) seem like a suitable problem solver.

Anyone else a bit disappointed with the Xperia S ?

Well I have to say I bought the Xperia S with high hopes it would live up to my past experiences of the Sony brand and the spec list on the Xperia S, however it hasnt really.
I have found it laggy and under-whelming even in normal use and dont get me started on those bottom buttons.
Looking at the spec, I would expect it to be a hell of alot quicker and less laggy than it is. Are these things that will be fixed with an update or is this the best we can expect the device to ever be.
Camera, not that impressed. It is capable of very good shots, but doesnt deal well with light, with areas of a image being washed out due to normal light from sky.
Anyone else considering sending it back / selling it, and buying something else?
I just sold it and decided to wait for a Sony model designed for ICS or with better bottom buttons. I thought the phone had too much Bezel area and length for the screen size. I hope Xperia P buttons are more sensitive. I didn't have long enough to see any performance issues. I seem to love my Arc even more now

I'm thinking of selling mine purely down to the fact ICS is now planned for a late Q2 release which I think is shocking considering this is Sony's flagship device.

I gotta be honest I'm really not sure. I also dunno if i want such a big screen. Stuck the Xperia s back in the box this morning and been using my trusty old iPhone 4 and I kinda prefer the size...but everything high spec at the moment seems to be going the 4 inches route.
I do agree btw what you said about ICS on the XS...it seems to be last in line..though I'm not really sure if it would make an improvement. You happy with yours aside from that?
Im happy with mine xperia s. Im only disappointed with built-in battery ;/
Very happy with the device, no disappointment.
I believe delaying the ICS is the correct decision, rather than rush out a flawed upgrade.
Had mine since release date I have no regrets. I like the build and NXT iface. battery I get just around 30hrs but I am not really a heavy user. Just waiting for the firmware update ICS right now is not a biggie for me. those wanting gs2 good luck to you just remember GS3 ain't that far away. Good luck to the HTC one guys personally I cannot stand sense or TW. Each to their own
XPS still is one of the most beautiful looking Android phone out there. HTC One X looks ugly to my eyes but I just pulled the trigger on it. Should have it next week. I just don't like how HTC phones have that curved edges at four corners of the screen. Decided to give it a chance till I find more details on Xperia P and the capacitive buttons.

I completely agree. This is the best gingerbread device on the market currently and one of the best smart phones currently available.
While lack of ICS for the time being is disappointing. The design, hardware and features more than makes up for that.
People are constantly praising my phone how amazing it looks and feels.
I've even had Nexus owners compliment my phone.
We also have the best screen and camera on the market currently.

There's an easy trick to the capacitive buttons.
Instead of pressing the buttons, slide your finger over the area.

Touch sensitive buttons never a problem for me, I don't understand how anyone can have problems with them. When I first got the phone it was a bit hit and miss but got used to where I needed to press very quickly. If you have big fingers maybe but otherwise you shouldn't have a problem.
I had the hd2 for two years prior to owning this phone, and I loved it especially as it was easy to root and there are loads of custom roms and tweaks,it was like having a new phone every week.
Xperia S took a bit of getting used to coz I liked sense, still do, but after all the changing of roms it's nice to have everything working out of the box and I wanted a decent camera and video recorder and the one on the xperia is first class.
I'm not totally happy with everything but I haven't been with any phone I've had, the perfect phone doesn't exist, and never will.
I specifically got this for the camera capabilities, any other positives where a bonus.
So overall I'm very happy, but as someone already mentioned, each to there own.

Does anyone know a reliable unlocker for the Xperia S?
Also, are we allowed to post ebay links on xda?
The phone in itself is fantastic im not denying that. What I am [email protected]&:#/ off with is the fact this device is the flagship but is getting ICS after the 2011 devices and im afraid that is inexcusable on Sony's part.

This and only 16GB with no SD, locked bootloader and craptons of VZW bloat. I feel bad for HTC really...
I don't think the locked bootloader or bloat will affect sales much. Not many people are going go with something else because of this - it's not like Verizon has alternatives. Most people probably won't even ask what the battery size is and just see the 12.5 hours of usage and think it's enough. People just getting off of a 2 year that don't research phones also wouldn't think to ask if it has a sd card slot since that was standard last time they got a phone. Kind of like asking if a tv comes with a remote, you just figure it does since they have for a good while.

I share your excitement but I'm pretty sure one of the HTC reps said the red grilles on the sides are only aesthetic, not speakers or anything.
HOWEVER. They have incorporated 2 audio amps, one for line jack and one for speaker! So line out will be getting around 2.5amp vs the normal 0.5-1.0amp (or was it volt? idk) So louder music with less distortion!

The phone is the only quad core phone on Verizon other than Note....and that has a screen way too big. Verizon had kinda screwed with the Butterfly because it had a SD slot and more battery. Verizon could have made this one of the most popular phone on the market with some nice ads and stuff like Samsung had done with S3. Ah well, when will they learn that giving users what they want will make both sides happier.

LG G2 general thread

It's been a while, sincer the device has been revealed, and we should have a topic with general disscusions about the device, like thoughts, impressions, likes, dislikes, etc...
Well it being Sprints first official Triband LTE device, I'm sold on it. I'd rather it have an external SD slot and possibly a removable battery but the CPU/GPU combo and battery size make up for that. Hopefully they'll include an option for 32gb storage. Also - I'm hoping this device has a large development community. The last few LG devices haven't been super big sellers.

Worldwide release from start(almost), very positive first hands on, many people looking interested in it and probably not to many different model numbers. Think we have a good recipe for a big community. Let's just hope people can drop the hatred of 2.5 years of the failed O2X.

My dad had the LG Optimus S and it had an issue with internal storage once reaching full capacity you had to factory reset the device. LG took months upon months to fix the phone. Quite annoying for him. But honestly the older Samsung phones were pretty bad back then and now look at where Samsung is.

I haven't really given LG much credit in the past, after buying my son an Optimus S, but this definitely looks like a device worthy of consideration.
This is going to be my next upgrade, the specs alone sold me but I don't think I can wait for the HTC one mega or a note 3, and all these people who claim its a deal breaker on the size must not remember what its like to use a 4.3 inch phone, or even a 4 in for that matter. Or they have baby sized hands that can't grip a 5.2 in. Also having the buttons on the back should not detour you from this purchase. I mean unless you stick with the same manufacturer the buttons switch sides on different phones, so its just something to get used to. I've been an android user since the HTC G1 and this phone looks to be the device our OS was meant for.
Edit: I meant HTC one max not mega sorry

This will definitely be my next phone. Can't wait for the release in Germany. I hope lg will change it's update policy and the first tests will be great.
For now I am very impressed by the G2.
Hope there will be a huge community like the S2 is.

The HTC One Max is out of the question for me. I have a One and the camera is just awful. I'll just wait and see what the official Note 3 specs look like before I make a final decission.
I've never used the camera on the HTC one but I have played with it a bit at best buy. Is the camera really that bad on it and if so what makes it bad (blurry pics, lack of options etc.) ?

It's only 4 megapixel, so even though low light exposure with the Ultrapixel sensors is fantastic, the pics are just not clear. They look alright on the phone screen, but if you transfer them to the pc and try and view them...... just plain awful. Very grainy.

Good to know, I mean I wasn't sure that the quality of pictures was gonna be my deal breaker but I take a lot of pics of my kids and transfer them to my PC to print them out. I don't think I wanna PRI t out grainy pics. Thanks for the insight on that subject; just reinforces my decision on the G2. Still waiting on a review though to solidify my decision.

I was thinking I might pick one of these up when my current contract ends, but I'm not sure I could put up with the Notification Tray. On all of the videos I've seen of this phone there are that many custom settings in the notification tray that the actual notifications seem to start 2/3 of the way down..
What puts me off LG devices is their poor record on upgrades for them.
this or Note 3?
Currently I'm using LG optimus 2x as my device which is already 3 years old.
Actually this is really tough device to be used except the bad support from Nvidia lol
LG G2 3000mah battery, button at the back and OIS camera can be my main reason to upgrade
Looks like confirmed 32GB Internal storage, as per LG's webpage.
http://www.lg.com/global/g2/sub3.html
Looks sexy, too.
is battery removable?
Considering this phone for my next upgrade. The only thing worth noting is how it will rest in a pocket. Wouldnt the rear buttons get accidental presses?

What are the chances of having a removeable battery and microUSB slot?
If not, I am going to get a Note 3 soon. I never have a Samsung before.

Doubt it because HTC only does it for dual sim phones and importing those means no LTE in most cases.

No chance with removable batteries since they like their unibody design. I think it has a microusb slot to charge right now.
I'm torn between HTC's upcoming device, the Xperia Z1 (assuming TMo gets it) and the LG G2. It depends on which one delivers the best experience.

I can't do LG ever again.
I had the LG g2x and it was pre crap and LG knew it and did nothing to fix it.
I'm not too sire what I wanna upgrade to.
I been thinking of a note 3. I had a s2 for a long time and it never did me wrong but I do love the front speakers on the HTC one tho and I think they will put it on the htc two also.
I guess I'll just wait and see what comes out around April, since that's normally when more infor and releases are done.
Bad news, HTC next phone will have 2GB of RAM still. 3GB is what Samsung is doing and they can push the power and efficiency envelope even more.
I don't know. S800 is faster than S600, but the S600 is pretty overkill for a phone as is. Maybe if they put the pwr button on the right with the volume rocker and ditch the capacitive buttons for modern on screen keys though?
Seems like everyone is in a holding pattern until the A57 parts are ready.

Why do people not like capacitive buttons? The M7's button layout is one of my favorite things about it.

Agreed. I think the nexus style screen based buttons look really cheap and unfinished.
On screen buttons will take a space in your 5" screen so technically htc m8 will roughly still be 4.7 or 4.8" screen.
Reports says 2gb of ram..i guess it is enough and 3gb is overkill..samsung is just exagerrating all the specs but it really sounds good to have a higher specs. 6-8 ultrapixel are great.i just hope it will not have an issue like the purple tint on my htc one.battery reported was 2900mah which is boooo! They should atleast put 3300mah on it but this isnt final as this is only rors on the web.

Based on the leaked specs, I'm pretty meh on the whole M8. It's an upgrade over the M7, but it's nothing like the huge leap that the One was over the One X (note to HTC, please do something about the names).
Honestly, I'm going to wait and see what Motorola does with the next version of the X. If they move to a 1080p display, I'm sold. I'm kind of shocked to hear myself say that, since the one is my 5th HTC phone, but I like the way motorola is adding genuinely useful stuff onto the base of android, rather than stuff like... oh... blinkfeed? That said, give me a Moto X with the HTC gallery app... that'd be tasty.

Blinkfeed introduced me to the song Midnight Blue, by Electric Light Orchestra, so it's not all that bad .
Since the M8 is looking more and more like a (very) modest upgrade over the M7, I'll probably not upgrading.
The only two things I would love to have added on in the next version would be a Nokia Pureview like camera and LTE-A antennas.

When the Nexus 5 came out, I was initially torn between it and the Moto X (even had a N5 in hand like 3 days after release), but I discovered that you could convert the aluminum beauty called in the M7 into basically a Nexus device and I really found just about the perfect phone for me as a result. I'd love to play around with a Moto X, but the problem with owning an M7 is I'm not sure I can go back to having a plastic phone ever again!
I love stock Android, but I've played around with Sense for a couple of days before converting to GPE, and it definitely has some interesting concepts I'd love to see in stock. Blinkfeed is a matter of taste, I think. I think it's pretty cool, but I don't like it at the same time.

It wouldn't be so bad if it had a proper app switcher button and a standard layout, but its a simple fact that on screen buttons are better. They're more flexible with positioning, hide when they need to be hidden, and you're not wasting bezel space.
Its sad that even years after on screen buttons launched, we have some manufacturers going even further backwards and putting physical buttons on their devices. ie, Samsung.
I will be upgrading..I subscribe to jump and believe it's going to be awesome.
HTC best device ever owned.

There was a video leaked on Engadget (probably some kid who got a parent's test model) of the M8 and it looks as though it has an SD slot this time.
