No SMS over 160 characters? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

Have any of you been able to have your note2 send a text MSG larger than 160 characters. I can't. Nor do I see an option to fix. Big text messages just fail to send.
In my other phones the MSG would simply be broken up and sent as two, or three separate 160 character messages.
Called Verizon rep., they say google is aware of the issue and a fix would included in next update. Simple work arounds, use different messaging app or limit text to under 160 characters.
Just wondering if others are experiencing this, is it an issue on other note variants?

I have had no problem on mine sending texts over 160 characters. It does split it in to seperate texts and the character amount counts backwards with a slash and the number of texts it will send. So if I send 181 character text it will show like this 139/2. Meaning I have 139 characters left until it switches to the third message. I use the stock messeging app. I hate to say try a hard reset and see if that clears the issue. Not sure why you can only send one text at a time. I am rooted stock with the all app multi window working. And I have the vzw note 2 so your issue sounds strange to me.

I'm rooted as well. Funny enough it's working now. It didn't work this morning. Yes I had good signal strength, strange

I tested again. If a SMS message with more than 160 characters does go thru for me, the person receiving the message recieves the 2nd half first.
Is this just my note2.

Blocking iPhone iChat messages from iPhone users

Is there a way to block all of the group messages that are sent from the iPhone iChat???? Like 8 of my friends have a iPhone so whenever they send a message to the group it comes to be from that person individually but with the heading
"[Subject: New Message]"
And I cannot block them or stop the notifications since I am in the group of the chat. Any suggestions besides asking them to not include me since they will just do so to annoy me lol
Sounds to me like its an MMS message - If I send an MMS message with no subject it comes across the same way.
Can they use the subject field would that help?

If they use change the subject field it won't help block the messages. Even if I select to not auto-receive the MMS messages I still get the notification and every message from the group. I wouldn't mind if they got sent to one entry and it was just a running chat message basically. But every time each contact messages the group I get a individual message from them. So if 8 people are in the Chat I get a message from each of the 8 every time they reply. Has no one else come across this yet?????????????
Seriously. So sick of that feature for every non-iPhone user.
There has to be a fix or a way to block these. You may receive 100 messages in one day, for me at least 100, from the group chat. very very very annoying! Any suggestions

[Q] How can I stop creating MMS's instead of multi SMS's?

Hiya, I can't find another thread, but I hope I'm not duplicating. I have several questions relating to MMS's.
Can anyone see any way to let me write a long SMS text without it being sent as an MMS? If I write a reply to a text and it's one character too long, it'll send it as an MMS. I'm in the UK on O2, and have unlimited everything, except MMS's which cost me money. I've also noticed that if I send to multiple recipients, it'll become an MMS too. Bugger! I just want the phone to send as a multipart SMS like every other phone I've ever owned.
Can I block MMS's?
And finally, what is the difference in the MMS creation mode. Doesn't seem to make any obvious changes.
Thanks for reading.

AOSP 160 character limit?

I recently flashed an AOSP rom, Rage 1.6 to be exact, and I noticed that when I text them ladies, messages over 160 characters/letters get split up into multiple text. So eventually the receiver gets up to 3 separate texts for 1 message. Do all aosp roms do this?

The maximum length of any SMS message is 160 characters. If you send one longer, the recipient always receives the messages split up.. its just a matter of whether or not their SMS client (or yours for that matter) displays them as a single message, or displays them broken up into the individual messages.
While some SMS clients do recognize multiple messages to be parts of a single longer message and display it as such, others don't.
For example, I don't use the stock SMS client for Android. I only use Google Voice, and it always displays longer messages as one coherent message, even though the recipient's client may display 3 separate incomplete messages.
Using the stock messaging app on Adrenaline 2.0, I texted someone a lengthy message (over 160 characters) and they received it as a whole message. Then when I flashed an AOSP rom, using also the stock messaging app, I texted the same person. It started breaking up the text into multiple messages. I just tried using Handcent SMS and now that person is receiving one long text instead of multiple.
So basically it's the apps fault hu? I just wish there was a setting where I could change it.
Some apps provide the ability to send longer messages (>160 char) as MMS instead of SMS. I couldn't guess what the default setting is, but I know handcent has that ability (I've used handcent since I had my original Moto Droid).

yep sense based roms will convert an sms to mms seamlessly so you dont see the splits. if you want to make it longer in aosp just send an mms.
More than 160 characters in a text? Dude...send an email at that point.

4.1.2 update questions, messaging changes

I don't have a note 2 right now, but probably will soon. I have a couple of questions about the recent update. When I had the note 2 a few months back, I had something that bothered me about messaging that I wanted to find out was changed or not.
When receiving a picture message with text included in the same message, does it still show a slide show or does it now allow you to view the photo without saving it and going to the gallery to see it?
When sending and receiving group text messages, does it allow you to view all sent and received messages from everyone included in the group within the same thread, or do the messages come in sorted under the individual contact's name even if they're in your group message?

It still appears as a slideshow, it did that on my S3 and RAZR MAXX as well.
As for the group messaging I want to say it all shows up under one tab together but I may be wrong as I have only use it once.
Why is this not posted in Q&A?
Sent from my SCH-I605 using XDA Premium HD app
I've recently noticed the slide-show thing too. Is there another messaging thingy we can install to get rid of that annoying problem? I saw that someone posted the ASOP one - does that fix this ??

Text Messaging - 57,000 text messages. Can not delete them.

I started noticing a slowdown on my LG V20 in the last week or 2. It was very random. I believe it is because I have about 57,000 text messages.
I do not need 57,000 text messages. I normally use Chomp or Textra apps. At this time, some text messages started to not come through to me. For example, my boss texted me and then called me later when I did not respond. Screenshots show she sent the text but I never received it. This happens rarely, but has happened with my sister and my wife as well.
I loaded the default AT&T text message and asked it to truncate all converstaions at 1000 messages per thread (I have 2 threads over 12000 messages). It was unable to do it. I then installed Textra again and asked it to do the same thing - it could not delete old messages or keep conversations at 1000. However, Textra shows some of the dropped text messages. The other apps (Chomp, default AT&T, and Handcent) do not show them at all.
My only solution is to delete all the text messages. I would like to keep the recent ones but no app seems to be able to keep the limits I have set on the threads.
Is there some type of SMS/MMS management app that would manually force the conversations to their limits (1000 messages per conversation?).
I believe when I updated to this phone, and I transferred my messages from my S7, maybe an error was introduced?
One conversation thread has a triangle with an exclamation point inside it. Maybe that thread is damaged?
Any advice appreciated.
