Phone reboots on hold of power - HTC Droid DNA

my power automatically reboots when i hold the power button
I'm rooted, and on UKB DNA and Cubed kernal
I don't think the rom or the kernal cause these, becuase this didn't happen when i first flashed the 2 above. I just started happening randomly

Think its normal

Pretty sure holding the power button is how you hard reset since you cant remove the battery. I don't know this for sure but I had the bug where the touchscreen was non responsive after phonecalls and the only way to restart it was to hold power. The capacitive buttons start flashing and then it reboots

I'm on the same ROM, but stock kernel, I think it's a ROM issue.

Holding power button continuous is a hard reset. It simulates a battery pull.

My UKB was doing same thing. Def a ROM issue. Did you flash "[MOD] [Dec 5 2012] Team Blackout Sense 4+ Mods No Time/Date/Carrier Added"?

Not certain... but it's either the Transparent stauts/battery mod or the NFC removal mod. Now mine is restarting.

holding down power resets phone. all phones or tablets do it with no removable battery or reset button.

I think you're mistaken nev. Perhaps I should explain in more detail.
Just restored to UKB stock. As what should happen, holding down the power button pops the dialog asking whether to reboot, power off, reboot to recovery etc. I then flashed "[MOD] 100% Transparent Status bar w/ Battery mod". Once fully booted, I hit the power button to test the dialog... phone then began to just reboot once the power button was hit.
So, my testing says that is has to do with this particular mod.

Happened to me. It's the transparent status bar mod with battery interfering with the systemui

how many seconds? I know every device reboots if you hold it down for 10 seconds.

Well, if you combine this MOD with the UKB ROM, it reboots after 1-2 seconds of pushing the power button. Something's unhappy.

I had the same problem using UKB and transparent and batt mod. Reflash ukb and don't use the trans and batt mod = problem solved.

you can also take frameworkres.apk out of the .zip and then flash once youve already fixed the power menu. I dont take credit for this someone else made the suggestion in Nitsuj17's thread.

the only reason its rebooting on pressing power button is because a mod was flashed that included a framework-res in it
probably a battery mod
that ll will break apm
please take with what you flash in terms of mods...unless they say "works with ukb" or "built from ukb"...its hit or miss

Power Button Question

Is there an app that allows you to reassign the functions of the power button to another key? I am trying to minimize how often I have to use the power button because of the issues several of us are having with the power button.
What are the issues with the power button?
Its hard to describe, its as if the Power Button is moving into the phone it is not sticking out nearly as much as it was when it was new as a result it is becoming tougher to push as it becomes flush with the top of the phone.....

I know what you mean. I came from the Droid X and my first thought when using the Thunderbolt was "WTF at the power button!?" It sits too damn flush with the top of the phone. It took me a good 2-3 days to get used to it. I kept having to look at the top of the phone to get my finger in the right spot.
Anyways... are you rooted? Das BAMF has a feature that allows the volume rockers to be used to wake up the phone. You could then download something like SwitchPro and use a widget to turn to the screen off. Essentially you'd never have to use the power button then.

Yes I am rooted, I have not tried any custom roms yet. I will try SwitchPro and see how that works. Thanks for the info!!!
SwitchPro does not have anything that looks like it would work as a power button, are there any other suggestions?
I use the free version of quick boot and hardly ever use the power button it allows:
reboot
recovery
bootloader
Power off

don't ignore this link because its the only way to get it to wake with the volume rocker buttons
I also downloaded Screen Off to put my device in sleep mode. With these two apps the only time I need to use the power button is when I'm updating ROMs or I need to power on my phone.
Good luck

Cannot screenshot when anymore. Updated to ICS.

When I updated to ICS the other day, I started having problems. First of all, my phone is laggy as a mtf. When I try to text, the inputs are slower than I can type and programs take awhile to load. I also cannot screenshot anymore. I tried to home + power button and volume down + power button, but nothing works. I tried restoring my phone in hopes that it would remedy the problem, but it did not help. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

To fix your lagging phone, put a custom ROM on it.
Screenshot, IDK. Vol down and power has always worked. Your holding it wrong?
Try holding the volume down button and power for a second or so

No, my screenshots do not work. I have tried all methods and it does not work.
Is there anyway that I can downgrade to GB?

no. All ics ROMs use the current Google standard of vol down and power, afaik. Power and home was a Sammy convention on GB
Sent from my SGH-I777 using Tapatalk 2
Did you try pressing both the power and home buttons at the same time and holding them in for a good four or five seconds? It may take a bit longer to activate since you are having performance issues.
The key is to HOLD the vol down + power AT SAME time... Ultimatum is home + power only ICS ROM I have found that on.....
Sent from my Nexus 7
You have a lot of issues and even on a stock room just save your texts through SMS backup and restore get a copy of titanium backup sync your accounts backup your contacts to your sim, pull out your SD card and do a factory reset clean install of ics then load it back up test it before you re install all your apps and stuff to be sure its correct. Even something as simple as flashing and update can and will have issues that can usually be fixed just starting over also since your on stock save how you have your apps set up I hate when they arnt organized. Screen shot it will work unrooted I think

I have had the same problem many times. In my case, it was caused by the fact that I press power first and volume down next. That works most of the time, but sometimes it just leads to lowering the volume.
When I press both buttons exactly the same time, it works always. (For me at least)

JB App Drawer bug

When I press the Power button to put the phone on standby and then again to turn the phone on again minutes later, pressing the App Drawer icon doesn't load any of my apps until I press the Recent Apps button. Anybody else notice this problem?

you can wipe the cache partition from the stock recovery that is on your phone. power the phone off, hold vol down then press and release power. this will take you to the bootloader. press vol down once to highlight recovery then press power. when you see the red triangle, press vol up & power at the same time. when you see the android system recovery menu, press vol down until wipe cache partition is highlighted and then press power. when that is finished press power with reboot system now highlighted. hope this helps

Yes. This is happening to me on MeanBean ROM .3 S-OFF. Thought I needed to re-flash or that it was ROM related. Sucks that this happening in the stock version as well.
No problems with the app drawer for me. I'm on MeanBean .3.
Also, my proximity sensor is working properly also. I remember when the last update came out a lot of people had problems with the proximity sensor not working properly also. Must be a hardware bug on some phones.

Power menu unavailable when holding the power button

Running CleanRom 2.5, my phone previously presented me with a Power menu when holding down the power button. This allowed me to either Shutdown or Reboot. Now, whenever I hold the power button down, it reboots automatically without offering me any choices. What causes this and how can I fix it?

[Q] Oh Crap, Did I Just Brick My Phone?

I was attempting to flash over a new ROM. The sense 5.5 that just released. using the fastboot/hboot wasn't working so I tried to install from TWRP recovery, still not working. I then wiped my phone and did a factory reset, including the ROM wipe on TWRP. It booted up without an OS and now I can only get the boot screen to appear but the phone won't shut off. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!
Hold the power button down until the screen turns off, then immediately hold the volume down button until it boots back into hboot. (You don't have to keep holding the power button after the screen turns off) other than that I have no idea what your post is about or what you were trying to do.

I've had some issues trying to flash new 4.3 roms on new TWRP, install fails after few seconds, screen goes dark, then HTC screen w red dev text comes up, have to hold power button to restart into bootloader/recovery. Seems to help to reboot recovery after wiping and before flashing the rom for me
