[Q] MD5 Error - HTC One X+

Whenever I attempt to flash a ROM via TWRP, I get an error that says no MD5 file found and it just says Failed.
Am I placing the .zip in the wrong location on the SD or am I missing something else entirely?
I'm unfamiliar with HTC phones, I've been with Motorola for the past few years so please enlighten me as to what the issue might be.
Just to make it clear, I am unlocked and rooted and I've flashed the boot.img before attempting to flash the corresponding ROM.

have u upgraded ur hboot version??perhaps u have to move the rom zip into phone storage...are u changing the name of the rom zip???(dont do that)
try reflashing TWRP from fastboot...

turn Force MD5 check on all zips off

Which version of the phone do you have? Sounds like the INTL one to me. You can still follow my tut here to get your rom and gapp's on your phone to flash.
Good luck
Maybe a silly question, but, do you have the windows drivers installed for the phone?

Thank you for the quick reply.
I managed to make it work.
Basically it seems like the phone takes time to get recognised by my system, is this normal?
After mounting the usb storage from recover and plugging the usb, when I used adb push, it says device not found.
After a minute, I used the command line again and it worked.
I pushed both the rom and gapps.zip file and installled them and now it's working.
My question now is: I had apps, messages, calls and contacts - is it possible to get them from the backup as well as keep this rom that I've just installed?
PS : is not connecting to the wifi, stating that there are authentication problem, is this normal?
Thank you
Can someone tell me if the wifi connection is an issue with this phone when intalling the rom mentioned earlier.
I had apps and other stuff on my phone, I can still see their respective folders, can I restore my apps back?
ps: I made a full backup of my official rom, I wanted to restore it back and this is what I've done:
Wiped system,dalvik,cache and factory
then restored all three partitions of my backup.
It turns on but it keeps hanging on the htc one logo
what can I do in this case?
Thank you

I could be completely wrong but you might have to flashed the boot.img from your backup? did you flash a boot.img from a custom rom? TWRP won't flash boot.img properly so it has to be done in the bootloader.
Hope this sheds some light on your issue
Cheers!
When we make the backup, TWRP doesn't create a boot image file,at least not explicitly.
The file with the name "boot" have md5 and win extension.
I thought the same thing, that probably I need to flash the boot.image file as I did flash a custom boot before installing cm10.
So where is the boot.img file for my stock? how can I extract it?

[Q] unable to open zip file error

Hey everyone first post here at xda. I've been trolling around for a while and can usually find a solution around if I run into a problem. So first off here is the low down on my phone.
I'm running
hboot 1.19
radio 1.12.11.0809
twrp 2.3.3.0
S-on
I'm running cm10
Now the problem I'm having... I have decided to switch to Meanbean and have the ROM downloaded and put on my phone's storage waiting to be flashed. I've tried it a number of times while wiping different things. And every time I attempt it I receive the same error in the log "unable to open zip file".
I thought I may not have enabled debugging so i restored and made sure it was all enabled and tried again same error. I have reinstalled TWRP.
I also tried updating the htc software like mikey recommends in the Meanbean thread. However when I relocked my phone I was unable to get it to boot so that I could run the RUU.
I've tried everything that seems logical to me and I don't know what else I should do. I also don't know where else to look. I haven't been able to find anyone having this very problem.
So if anyone has a suggestion that would be great.
I'm open to try any solutions. I don't want to be stuck on cm10 for the rest of my days. Not that its a bad rom in any way.
It will be easier for you to go s-off...did you download via comp or phone?..are you running windows? And don't ruu if you're going to update, relock and take ota....beware, hboot 2.09 has been known to give fits
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
Did you bother to check the md5sum? It could have been a bad download
It was a bad download. Had to learn how to check an md5. So thanks for that.
Couldn't even open the zip on my computer. Found the proper md5 value from android file host. Re-downloading now. Thanks a lot.
Ill take it from there.

Trying to Flash from a .zip file on External SD

Hi
I am running a Stock LSD 4.1.2 JB Rom on my I9100 and do not wish to Root my phone. Yes it was rooted once but I have a specific reason for not wanting to revert back to root.
On a few occasions over the past year I have wanted to flash an app via "Recovery Mode", a .zip file located on the phone's external SD card.
On trying to flash, the following is displayed in yellow: -
E: failed to verify whole-file signature
E signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
I have searched and searched this and other forums and although I can find many many instances when this has ocurred with other people I have not yet seen a generic solution to this problem.
It must ocurr because of a certain situation being prevelant within my phone and the references to it on forums usually suggest they are because someone is messing with a Custom Rom and/or a Rooted Kernal etc etc.
Could someone please tell what is happening, why this is the case and what can be done to sort it please.
I would say that my phone is just over 18 months old, never has had a problem, has been flashed with "Stock Roms" quite a few times and all without wiping or restoring to the factory settings. I do not want to wipe it to sort this problem out and am hoping an easy fix is available.
Hope someone can help
ps - I am trying to install the 4.2 Camera via the patched.zip and have tried to install the "Temporary" Clockwork Recovery" app with exactly the same problem. I stress I do not want to Root.
Anyone please?

Ermm, do not think so. Please review this thread before making wild comments like this: -

I know in some way though that you probably thought you were helping.
Surely this problem has a cause and a solution?

u have to first flash the 'Temporary CWM recovery .zip' then select 'reboot to recovery' option in stock recovery to enter 'temporary cwm recovery' there u select the 'Camera zip file' to flash.
PS- after flashing 'Temporary CWM recovery.zip' do not reboot ur phone the normal way by doing so u will lose ur temporary recovery.
each time before flashing any zip file u have to flash 'temporary cwm.zip' file first.
Hi thanks but I know this.
Can we get back to my topic please? I would not have posted if I could flash the Temp CWM Recovery. zip file
I just need to know what causes the error I am getting and how I can irradicate it.

As the error indicates, it fails to verify the file's signature. You can't flash unsigned packages via stock recovery. The solution is exactly what was already mentioned to you:either root and install a custom kernel/recovery (you don't want it, that's fine), or use a temporary custom (non-stock) recovery. While I had problems with the stock recovery flashing unsigned zips (obviously), I never had an issue with flashing a temp recovery. Try redownloading and reinstalling it - it could be a corrupt file. Which recovery are you trying to use? I recommend the temp touch CWM by Phil (the dev of the PhilZ kernel; use link in his signature). Always works like a charm.

Nice one! Thank you
It must have been a duff file (temp touch CWM by Phil) as the one I just downloaded, installed without a problem. It was the very same program file but from a different source.
Just installed the 4.2 Camera too so now going to play
Thank you again

[Q] Gnote warranty replacement. Rooted w Odin. ROMS abort installation...why? Stuck w

My old one started getting the sim card error.Still under warranty so...new phone in hand. (Refurb) I rooted using Odin 3v1.85 installed SuperUser and ClockworkModRecovery. All moves along fine. Now I try to install ROM zips (tried three) and they all abort quickly. It starts opening and checking and aborts saying error with zip file. I have downloaded three different ROMs and redid it from different sites too...same thing. What am I doing wrong?
Did you update your recovery after rooting? I recommend twrp which can be found in the original development section.
"Update my recovery" Hmmmm....since I am unsure what you mean...I guess not. TOG recommended TWRP over CWM too. I'll go take a look see. By "original dev section" I assume you mean the other subforum?
Quick explanation of updating my recovery?
Thanks for your valuable time. Here, have a coffee...U)
EDIT:
OK, I went, found and downloaded the latest TWRP2.zp for Odin install, since I'm most familiar with that method. So, am I right in these steps?
1. Re-root w Odin using .tar file from the TWRP.zip using the PDA button.
2.Update?
3. Reboot into recovery (does twrp use the same method as cwm?)
3.Install ROM zip of choice...rejoice?
That's way too complicated broseph...
You still have cwm right?
Just Go back to the twrp thread, download the recovery flashable zip.
Put it on your sdcard and flash it in cwm like a Rom.
Once that's done reboot recovery and you'll now have twrp
Button combos are built into the boatloaders, changing recovery has no effect on them whatsoever.
OK
Thanks again all....I did all of the above and finally got the ROM to load, then Gapps, and the rest of the drill. I never could access my back-up that I stored on my ext SD card and the card is not showing in any file explorers (although it shows in storage, under settings ?).
AT least I have a functioning phone...yay.
Sd card is named as /emmc and several other names.

Need Help Flashing Stock ROM & Recovery Back to Samsung Galaxy Light

I recently installed TWRP custom recovery on my phone so I could install the "Carbon" custom ROM. When it turned out that I apparently need CWM, not TWRP in order to do this, I had already installed TWRP. Some other things I can't remember well enough to describe happened while I was tinkering further, and what I know now is that there is NO operating system installed on my phone, just TWRP (which is the only thing into which my phone will boot) and it's telling me it's "unable to mount preload." I vaguely remember it telling me something to the effect of "you may need to [some action here] before you'll be able to use 'data' again" when the process of trying to install Carbon through TWRP failed. Now I can't seem to put the stock firmware back on the phone. When I select the ZIP file to install, it tells me "skipping MD5 check: no MD5 file found" even though the ZIP file is definitely on the SD card. I'm guessing this has something to do with its inability to mount "preload"? I honestly don't know. I just know I'm stuck.
What I want to do is reinstall the stock firmware and recovery program that comes with my phone, get rid of TWRP completely, and then try installing CWM from the play store, the simple way. All this bootloader stuff is too advanced and risky for me. But first I need to get my phone working/booting into the android OS in the first place.
Can anyone give me instructions on how to fix this? If so, please be *extremely* specific and explicit, tell me every single step very clearly, as though you were explaining it to a child. Please don't assume I know what you're referring to with slang, shorthand or anything else. This is my first experience with custom recovery managers and ROMs, so please don't take anything for granted.
