Keep "searching for GPS...." - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

I am sure that my GPS worked well last 2 days but out of nowhere it just got stuck at searching for GPS forever and unable to locate my current location. My phone is rooted and previously on SlimROM 3.0. At first I thought it was some apps screwed up my GPS config file then I upgraded to SlimROM 3.1, but to no avail. I tried wiping all 3 data/cache/dalvik cache.. and installed rootbox (one of the older roms I used most and steady) before switched to SlimROM via naidroid backup.
Still.... not fixing anything. Tried other solutions suggested in other threads such as downloading fasterFix, GPS Test, GPSfix... still couldnt detect anything! Could it be hardware failure???
:crying:

If you tried SW solutions and they don't change anything - well, the answer should be obvious.
You can try and see if it's antenna contacts issue. Especially if you dropped the phone prior to it happening.

Try the Pimp My Rom thing.

[Q] Fascinate Wifi error even multiple factory resets

This started happening a few days ago, the wifi whenever attempted to be turned on, would just say error. I have done multiple factory resets and soft resets. The device has been rooted before, no roms installed. The only things I haven't tried is rom flashing because when ever I try to download CWRM it requires me to download something off the phone, and well, I don't have a data plan either. Does anyone have a solution?

I think you have a hardware problem being you wiped clean and reinstalled. time for a replacement maybe??
Replacement isn't an option :/. Something I've noticed is when I reset the wifi will work for a good 10 seconds then fail and constantly give me an error.

I agree, sounds like a hardware problem. Replacement might be your only option.

[SOLVED] Wifi turning on forever

I flashed clockworkmod recovery from the CWM app. I rebooted and gave me bootloop. I force rebooted into recovery, cleared cache and dalvik cache and booted fine. The problem is that wifi says turning on, but never actually turns on. After the boot every app gave a force close so I installed them again with titanium.(I don't know if it is relevant, but I say it anyway!). I am on stock, rooted 3.2. Any help will be appreciated guys.
EDIT: I tried rebooting, and activating/deactivating flight mode (I forgot to mention that I have the 16gb 7500).

Don't know if it will help but it has helped me in the past to goto settings and have it forget all the wifi connections and then when it refinds the wifi you want to use connect to it again setting it up add needed, mine was just the default settings. Rebooted and everything was good to got.
HTH
Edit: After reading your post again, I'm wondering if its even found any wireless networks.

Thanks for your time but it seems like you can't help me.. Wifi doesn't work at all!!!! That is the problem. I managed to turn it off by rebooting after turning airplane mode on and off, but after reboot when I either click on wifi or turning airplane mode off, the problem is there....

could be wrong but if it just keeps saying 'turning on' then eventually unchecks itself, this is usually a kernel module error. try reflashing your kernel and/or rom?

Well yes. I wanted to see if anytjing could be done by remaining stock. But I think it is about time to check out the ICS build. And try another rom. I think I will go for overcome. But thanks anyway!

Might wanna try different options, Overcome has it's own stock kernel, aswell as ICS (Pershoots) but you are welcome to try what suits you best Hopefully the problem fixes itself, magically
Actually I flashed pershoot's kernel but nothing happened. A factory reset solved the problem, but I went on and installed ICS. It's just perfect! Anyway, it has its bugs, so I flashed overcome and everything is well Now I wait for cyanogenmod to work its magic...Thanks for everyone's help. Other thing that bugs me: If i flash stock rom from sammobile will the flash counter increase, since it will be an "official" rom?
Id like to know that too, my phone has been flashed aleast 150+ times over the past 7 months *Developer pride? * so I wanna know how to reset counters o.o
Well I have asked this question in 4 different forums and it is the third time on xda...Seems noone knows...

I think official still count's as a counter+1, but so far only Samsung knows how to reset the counter :| I think they keep it secret just so their consumer's don't sue them saying "Samsung faulty products"

[Q] SGS 2 WiFi Just can't Turn On

Hey guys,
My SGS2 is currently facing what I call a Wifi bricked. After flashing several ROMS, I have discovered that my Wifi just cant turn on anymore. The Wifi toggle button just seems to be grey out. When tried to turn on, it says "Turning on Wifi" and it goes blank. Wifi did not manage to turn on
I have also tried flashing several roms and kernel in hope of fixing it. I have also flashed to stock sgs2 roms from sammobile but still failed. My last ROM using was the NeatRom. Its a good ROM but just dont know what is causing my phone to face such problem. I have tried flashing the previous roms and kernels that have WiFi worked but still failed to resolve the WiFi issue
I am currently running on Super Nexus 2.0 build 1.
Please help.
Very much appreciated. Sorry if i did not provide enough information.
What Rom
The best is flash the rom again

I assume you are wiping all data while changing ROMs, right?
Is the phone on warranty? Since it's not ROM or kernel or modem specific, it must be a hardware fault.
Try the kernel cleaning script right before flashing a ROM, just in case.
Yea. I do a data wipe whenever i flash a new rom. And also I no longer has warranty for my phone. I'm guessing it may be hardware faulty too but just not too sure about that.
Hmm.........

Try flashing a different radio (modem). It could be that at some point a new modem was flashed (like when using leak) and it has corrupted in some way.
There is a modems thread on here somewhere, use search.

[Q] GPS not working

I'm on SnowLeopard'sAT&T stock jellybean 20j and my GPS doesn't work. It actually hasn't worked for about a month prior while I was on SnowsJB v1.1. I've turned GPS in the settings and in the toggle but when I go to google maps and attempt to pinpoint my location I get the "Waiting for location" quickly followed by the "Your location is temporarily unavailable".
I've lived with the issue while I was on SnowJB 1.1 and figured it'd be resolved when I flashed a new ROM, but after flashing the stock ROM and its still not working, its got me concerned.
Anyone have any suggestions for what I can do to fix this?

I don't have a suggestion, but I'm a little surprised. I have been on SnowJB v1.1 for a couple months, and have never had an issue with GPS. It worked well, and locked position very quickly. I assume it worked for you when you were stock?
Yup everything was working find with stock. I should mention that I have flashed the new radio to no effect. I can also get gps through wifi.
I've even reset my GPS using GPS Status but its still not working.

Try turning on gps through settings instead of using toggles. Apparently if I use the toggles it doesn't "accept" the offer for blah blah blah.

If you are using twrp recovery try cwm, it worked for user dbgeek in SlickJB thread.
I was using CWM, tried 3 different roms, flashed mako radio, JB radio, and now LGNPST....and still the gps is not working. is my phone ****ed?
It was working fine up until today when I felt like trying a new ROM, I was on snowjb, with the new modem working fine. As soon as I flashed GPS no longer works. Not even the icon comes up, like the hardware is on but not doing anything
I'm on cwm. I'm thinking I LGNPST back to stock, update via the OTA and see if that fixes things.

Go back to stock!!
Ok got it working, here is what I did.
1. Downloaded ICS modem, flashed it cleared cache/factory reset/system
2. installed slick rom v2 (slick rom is the only one that has worked, tried a couple others with this method)
3. at this point, the gps icon was flashing but not locking, either way a good start. So I went into cwm, cleared cache, factory reset again and flashed the at&t jb modem
4. Reboot, viola it works.
I don't know why it'sd not working on nocturnal or snow's rom. Hope this helps.

I cannot thank you enough for this! I tried almost everything but this actually got my gps to work again!!! Thank you so freaking much!!!! You need to make like another thread so that others can see this and not lose hope like I almost did!

ICS Modem:
http://d-h.st/M9A
Slickv2:
http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=22901594685178537
After you get it working on Slickv2, you can restore your back up, hopefully you made one, then you re-flash the JB modem and you should be all set!!
Note: When I restored my back up, I advanced restored everything but cache. Don't know if this makes a difference or not.

Wi-Fi goes slow.

Hi,
I have a problem with my Wi-Fi. After a while it starts to go very slow. I have checked it with a speed test and its about 0.5 mbits. I first fixed the problem with a factory reset, but it came back after a day.
I have since found that a cache wipe, from the stock recovery menu, fixes the problem too, but it comes back again after about a day or even less.
I tried some cache wiping apps, but only the wipe from the recovery menu seems to do the trick.
I am on stock JB and I don't want to root out put a custom ROM on yet as my phone is still under warranty.
How can I find out what's causing the problem? It's getting rather annoying having to go to the recovery menu every day.
Thanks

That is strange? Maybe its an app you have installed or maybe a bug in the filmware. Head over to "samfilmware" and download the latest build for your version.
Dont think flashing official firmware from there will void your warranty as its official.

Tried flashing the latest stock ROM, same temporary fix like wiping the cache, but after a few hours, goes back to normal. This is with no other apps installed, other than the speedtest app, which I installed after I first identified the problem, so its not an app.
Another thing I noticed is that it went away after I disabled the 5Ghz wifi connection on my router, but it came back. The I tried manual wifi channel instead of auto, same thing. Problem went away, and then came back.
If I change the wifi channel the problem goes away, and then comes back after a few hours.
It seems like wifi settings must have something to do wit it, but I can find a combination which cures it completely.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, this is starting to drive me bonkers:crying:
Try hawkerpaul s GS2Nuke script, if it doesn't work try another wifi (other then the one at your home), if it works with another wifi then reset your router, if it doesn't work try making it without password.
